You were the reason I purchased the FX3 almost two full years ago. You were also the reason I drove my wife and pup across the country to see your movie premiere. You continue to be a huge inspiration to me, both as a filmmaker, but also as a human being. I will often think back to two specific videos you made that hit me deep. 4 or so years ago, watching "Maybe I'm Not a Filmmaker..." and relating to that opening, the back and forth, the self doubt and critique. I felt that more back then (but it still occasionally creeps back in now even, after years of doing it professionally). And then 2 or so years ago, watching "Proposing to my Best Friend" sitting on the living room couch next to the missus, both of us ABSOLUTELY bawling our eyes out. I'm talking ugly crying, tears that make you feel somewhat cathartic after crying. That's when my wife fell in love with your content too. It might always be somewhat of a one-sided relationship that we share, and yet I can't help but just be super grateful that one day you decided to pick up a camera and try this whole youtube thing because I'm not sure I would be making stuff if you didn't do it first. Thanks Danny, cheers for inspiring a whole new generation of filmmakers brother.
Oh man the timing of this video couldn't be more perfect. Just ordered mine 2 days ago. This is making me even more excited to get to use it. Great video as always 🙏🏻
I was fortunate enough to start way back in the day with an A7sII, and after watching a ton of your videos I upgraded to an FX3 in 2022, I love this camera and everything you said holds true still today. Thanks for creating, thanks for sharing.
I absolutely love you for this video. I literally just got one yesterday. my back sucks and my cinema cameras weight has just gotten to be too much. I’ve always loved your videos, man. And just hearing that you are sticking around made me feel so much better about my purchase. Thank you brother.
Danny, I remember the video you launched about the fall of your c70. So heart breaking and gut wrenching! Can only imagine how you felt in that moment. Insert the Fx3 to the rescue! [phew!]
I got my FX3 2 weeks ago yesterday to challenge myself creatively and produce more original work rather than just corporate fun videos. Exciting times! Great video, as always, Danny 💪
Amazing work dude, FX3 is the 🐐and It's still my daily driver to this day, I will always own one and think this camera will go down in history as one of the best cameras ever made.
Literally just bought this, and this camera is absolutely perfect. Been a long time since I did anything film related, but now I'm doing it as a passion again and I think this was the best purchase I've ever made when it comes to cameras.
This has been my dream camera since it came out. While I currently have two FX30s I think I will finally pull the trigger this year on the FX3 and it's going to be the most killer setup and I can't wait to flex that extra full-frame look. Still feel great about buying a 3 year old camera, especially if it continues to be your top choice, Danny.
Dude I just have to say thank you. Watching your videos and films inspired me to get the FX3 and I’ve been loving every minute using it. Thank you, and can’t wait to see what you do next. 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
It's always a good day when we get a new vid from Danny. This little camera and your videos really did influence a lot of the RUclips aspiring film makers (myself included) and even though I never got an FX3 (I have an fx6, A9iii and A1) it completely pushed me to really push my compositions and story telling with whatever camera I have to do whatever job or personal project.
FX# is literally the only camera I have had almost zero issues with. ZERO. It shocked me the first year or so of use and shocks me even more today. That reliability plus the run and gun aspect of it's build is what keeps me rocking Sony gear. 10/10 video Danny, crack on!
It’s an excellent camera. I bought it September 2021 for my corporate video production. It served as my A Cam until I bought an FX-6 in 2023. It’s now a great B cam. It’s also incredible hand held and on a gimbal.
I have an Xpro 2, recently bought a S5iiX (last week - in love and learning it) but would still love an FX3/30 - use all brands, make cool shit and share it.
Literally bought an FX3 when I first saw your cycling and baseball videos. It's been a game changer for me and I'm so happy to see that you are still putting up killer videos using it. Hope we get to cross paths one day! Cheers!
I literally purchased my fx3 at the beginning of this year because of that video you made a few years back, and I haven't regretted it once. I am actually about to sell my b cam (fx30) and just get a second fx3. Wild 🎉
Aw man Danny. I remember when you commented on my dual native ISO for the A7SIII, and it made my heart so happy. I've loved seeing all the absolute beautiful works of art you've been able to create with the FX3 and all your youtube videos. Keep doing what you're doing, were all rooting for you.
When you told the story of the C200 falling off the tripod, I was like...yup been there, done that...but wasn't too sad since it was a Canon. Haha. But then I was so stoked you picked up the FX3 and started using it as your daily workhorse!
I bought the FX6 then bought my first fx3...2 months later bought another fx3 for matching b cam...my fav camera to date I've owned. I think I'll keep one forever no matter what. SO GOOD!
This inspired me. Not because of the camera, but the deeper underlining message. Sidenote, I hope that one day I find someone that I can learn under that can help take me to the next level. Like you👏👏👏
I met you at one of the first I think I’m sick screenings, super stoked to see you keep grinding. The Haleakala video led to me getting serious about filmmaking and I’m about to shoot my first feature doc in Iceland. Keep making stuff Danny 🙏🙏
Thank you, Danny. I bought mine in December last year just because of your excellent work with the camera. I love the FX3 and it keeps inspiring me 🤙🏻 I'm minimalist with one lens Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II Lens, with the PolarPro - Vario VND - 82 mm - 2/5 Stops - Mist Edition II.
I love my FX3, easy to use, great in low light and the colours look fab ! I did buy an FX30 as a B-Cam which is also kinda fun for getting double focal lengths out of one lens. Looking forward to both the FX3 and FX30 finally getting shutter angle in a few weeks.
Agree! I have not had it nearly as long… Only about three months, and I don’t do all the cool stuff you do, but I see the difference and most importantly my clients are seeing the difference. Let’s get some more updates with goodies!
On a totally unrelated note, I learnt more beautifyul, truely "cinematic" color grading when I first stumbled upon your videos a few years ago and felt that I was no longer looking at a RUclipsr, but a filmmaker. I couldn't understand. I am currently working on a pitch video for a crowdfunding campaign of my own short film(this is my second one) and I felt that my colors were off. I came here, when you uttered the first syllable, I tried "copying" your grade and the colors looked so much more pleasing in my own video. Then of course, I finished watching yours. 😜 Everything you've shot with your FX3, has been a step up from your earlier content and most other "creators". I would say you have more in common with Gawx than anyone. Keep making beautiful art. I can't wait to see your movie, love you too!
a nice trip down memory lane! also, love your review and am in perfect alignment. So much punch, yet so small in the pack! I honestly don't complain about the lack of ND b/c of how small the form factor is, and the polar pro VND's are so awesome that I have no complaints! while the equipment we use has to be great, it's the mastery that makes the end product!
Thanks for your videos, Danny. You’re a huge inspiration for a starter like me. I learn a lot, even from those B-rolls that you use from your projects 😅. Btw, I shot a fake “commercial” on my a6400 for a running club inspired from your Brooks commercial video and uploaded on my YT. It turned out quite good, I’ll buy you a coffee if that club decides to use the video in their social media )))
The biggest thing I get a kick out of with the FX3/A7SIII is how many people take ANY other camera and say how sharp their camera is compared to the FX3/A7SIII and it's not as sharp of an image because it isn't down sampled blah blah blah but then they seek out vintage soft lenses to get a "look" when the FX3/A7SIII has one of the best images when it comes to actually looking cinematic and not overly digital/excessively sharp imo! I'm sure I'll jump on the FX4/A7SIV whenever they make that camera (especially if it's global shutter and has similar dynamic range/low light performance) but until then I love my A7SIII.
Well said! The icing on top is the ecosystem, Sony's ecosystem is unmatched when it comes to the variety of cameras/upgrade paths there are, and lens ecosystem as well.
You made me buy the FX3 more than two years ago, I had just replaced my A7ii with an A7iv 6 months before as a camera and camcorder. At that time I took my biggest risk, this decision was the best I could have made despite the concern of my friends and colleagues. Since then it has made me learn so much, I now live fully from my work, I work on projects that I would never have thought of at my age. I learned a lot thanks to it because it made all the "tech" part easy! It's also a magnificent workflow with the A7IV when I need to hire a second shooter or on a double cam interview. Thank you so much Dan !
As a Fujifilm XH2S owner and user of a FX3 at my job in video production. I wish I just spent more money on the Sony and went full-frame.. I love that damn camera so much.
Fully agree man! I've had mine for about a year and it's still light years ahead of my own skills. haha. just trying to get better and I know it will handle anything I need it to do!
Great video as usual brother! I co-own a creative media agency and we invested in our first FX3 a couple months ago. Love everything about it. We have the confidence to shoot anything Running an FX3/FX30 A/B cam setup.
I think your videos have encouraged me to get this camera, and it's the best one I've owned and used. I agree with all you've said. For me it's also the ergonomics. I've always owned hybrid cameras for filmmaking and from Canon to Panasonic to Sony, I've always felt like I had to shift my inclinations as far as how I used those cameras, where the buttons are, how to navigate the menus, etc. I've been using a GH5 at work since like 2019, and I'm embarrassed to say that I still have to look closely at the camera to get to the buttons I need to get to, or even use a light when I'm in the studio. Even the menu system, it's just not intuitive. I've owned the FX3 for less than a year and I barely ever have to look at the camera body, the buttons are exactly where I need them to be and I don't even have to think about it. Even the menu is a breeze. I've never had to think LESS about my camera when I'm shooting, and that has been such a game-changer.
As an amateur videographer with some expendable income, I went through a variety of different cinema cameras, but I was never happy and was always on the lookout for the "next best thing"... Inspired by your beautiful videos, I gave the FX3 a shot (pun intended) and haven't looked back. Picked up an A7S III as my B-cam, and I absolutely love the setup and the quality of what I'm able to achieve, even as a beginner. Thanks, Danny! 🙏
Great video! I have to say for what it's worth, You would be the guy that will convert me to Sony FX series. The enthusiasm to your craft my man! So captivating! More power to ya. 🇨🇦
Thank you for the quality of your work. It's thanks to you that I've taken the intellectual step of understanding that it's not the camera that makes a good video. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻✌🏻
I watched your video about the fx3 back in January and told myself that I will buy this camera after 1 year, not knowing I was gonna drop the bomb after a week. NO REGRETS!
Love you, You almost made me cry, LOL, I had the FX3 but when the Pandemic hit and I was out of work I had to sell it, I was totally bummed. During the pandemic I got some odd end jobs shooting products pictures for people selling things online so I got an A7IV which some one helped me buy as I was out of work. Until today I am using it but it over heats all the time and dream of having an FX3 again. I am a filmmaker for over 15 years and was in my peak right before the pandemic and then everything went downhill where I live. Actually for the last couple of days I was thinking of selling my A7IV to try and get at least and FX30 but I am trying to hold off to see if some how I can try and get at least a used FX3 some way. Where I live there isn't anything used and new is just too expensive. They actually almost 1000.00 more expensive than when they first came out due to inflation etc etc. You Don't need anything else, you are killing it with the FX3 and I admire your work and talent. Thanks for the video and the great inspiration.
Interesting to see the timing of this video 3 years later. I agree Danny it’s a beast of a camera. I wonder if Sony has a new release this year and this is a way to help clear out some lingering inventory.
I love your content and appreciate the quality of your videos! I’m particularly interested in understanding the process behind your video sound recording. Could you please make a video or share some insights on how you manage your sound from start to finish? Specifically, I’d love to know about: 1. The microphone you use for recording. 2. How you set up and position your mic. 3. Any tips or techniques you use during recording to ensure high-quality sound. 4. The software you use for editing your audio. 5. The process you follow for mixing and mastering your audio. 6. Any special effects or adjustments you make to enhance the sound. 7. How you handle the sound coloring process to achieve the final polished audio. Thanks a lot for considering my request! Your guidance would be incredibly valuable for aspiring content creators like myself.
Back in 2021, when you started using it, i wanted to buy that camera and be able to use such a beast in a small form factor. Now, 3 years later, i still cant even afford a XH2s, but my skills have improved greatly. Some day hoping ill be as good as you were 3 years ago 😅 Thanks for the videos, thanks for the great content! Cheers from Brazil
I also love that you dont buy into that whole upcoming cameras game. You stick with what Works for you, youre not always telling us that we need tô buy that new piece of gear, but you teach us How to develop skills and creativity. One of the best RUclipsrs and filmmakers out there!
@DannyGevirtz you're the best man! I got heavily inspired to get into cinematography after your videos. I got my first big break at the start of this year. Filming a music video with a giant budget and we're using the Sony Fx3. I appreciate your kindness to others and mindblowing passion for filmmaking and storytelling!
@@DannyGevirtz Thank you so much for all that you've done for the community. Your work is truly inspiring, and I always get excited to watch your new videos! I have a small request: could you create more educational content for new filmmakers who are just starting out? There’s a need for more information on how to get clients and where to look for opportunities. Additionally, a video on color grading would be incredibly helpful. Thank you again for all that you do!
I couldn’t afford the FX3 when I started, but I was able to grab a used A7SIII for a crazy deal. Found a used 24-70GM and ever since I have almost 100% satisfied. I do mostly corporate video work but my clients are always so impressed with the image quality :) I see no reason to upgrade for the foreseeable future, but occasionally I do get lens envy and want to try something new. Lately iv been really into the long lens look over 100mm but sometimes I wish I had something slightly wider like a 18 or 20 for those super tight spaces.
Saw the video you made for BPN! What’s crazy is I didn’t know you who made it I went searching for their creative director looking for who filmed it and found you on Jordan’s story😂 crazy i liked the video so much I wanted to know who it was and it was you the whole time lol
I just took my own FX3 today and I had an amazing price on it even though it's a brand new one. (I guess working in retail can have a few advantages). I also took the Sony 24-70 GMII with it. Maybe that lens is a bit overkill but in the long run I'm sure it will pay off. (Maybe use it later with a sony camera for photography, resale value etc).
Agree with the comprehensive greatness of the FX3 Danny. If I had only one complaint, coming from Panasonic, wish it had comparable ibis. Panasonic must have set the bar too high. Otherwise so agree!
I have the fx3 and love it, but feel like your colour is a lot better than mine - I need to up my grading skills. I'm curious - how do you/other fx3 owners here, set your white balance on run'n'gun docco days? Thanks!
3 Things that the firmware update ruined on the FX3 - 1) You cannot see the remaining time on both card slots on the main display anymore. It combines the card times if you're dual recording (which is useless) and if you have it on auto-switch media, the first card that you use is the only one displayed. And if you run out of space on the first card, it doesn't show you the time remaining on the second card. The first card just blinks "Zero" until you stop recording. 2) You cannot see how long you've been recording a particular clip. I've been on so many sets where someone asked me how long that take was and I can't even answer that question. Embarassing. And 3) Which doesn't affect everyone, but you can no longer see the battery life when using third party batteries. Great video Danny and your shots have inspired me to give Slog another shot, I just wish more people talked about the issues with the FX3 to increase the chance of Sony improving the camera with the mkII 🙏🏾🙏🏾
I really want this camera 😫 i just keep prioritizing getting lights and other essential gear as a new content creator/videographer(contemplating film making). After watching this video, Im heading behind my laptop right now to get more jobs cuz I am getting this bad boy before this year ends🤬 Also, thanks for sharing Danny. Love you too bro 👊🏿
It feels like yesterday I was watching that cyciing video! Time truly flies!
Haha right! It really does
Facts
For real!
Same here!

Ive owned many cameras, and the FX3 is the first camera that I don't want to get rid of. Glad I found your channel all those years ago dude :)
Absolutely agree man!
I hate the fx3
@@TheMindfulRonin fair enough, doesn’t work for everyone
In love with my FX3. Paired with a 24-70 GM II..chefs kiss🤌🏽

Ayy congrats!
FX3 is the best camera out today. But let's not forget, it's all about how you use it and Danny, you use it incredibly well.
Great video as usual brother! I co-own a creative media agency and we invested in our first FX3 a couple months ago. Love everything about it. We have the confidence to shoot anything Running an FX3/FX30 A/B cam setup.
For sure man! Thanks!
Ole reliable! Danny and FX3’s are like PB&J!
More like Deez&Nuts
Three years already since you dropped your canon! time flies I spend it in your channel lol
Hahaha it’s gone quick!
Heck yeah man!
Just got my first one yesterday and will probably sell my c70 and r5c - I like it that much so far!
You’re gonna love it man!
Glad I helped convince ya!
Great video! I have to say for what it's worth, You would be the guy that will convert me to Sony FX series. The enthusiasm to your craft my man! So captivating! More power to ya. 🇨🇦
Thanks dude!!
Thank you for the quality of your work. It's thanks to you that I've taken the intellectual step of understanding that it's not the camera that makes a good video. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻✌🏻
For sure man! Thank you!
I was trying to stay within the budget and grab the fx30…but this video changed my mind lol
I watched your video about the fx3 back in January and told myself that I will buy this camera after 1 year, not knowing I was gonna drop the bomb after a week. NO REGRETS!
Hahah hell yeah
Beautiful video! I was wondering if you could make a video series on how tv shows are made kinda like snowfall etc
🔥 btw that FX3 review intro years ago was so goood! Divine intervention
Haha thank you!
I am actually gonna buy a fx3 very soon! Just waiting on a few more paychecks.
Man I remember when your c200 dropped like it was yesterday!
Interesting to see the timing of this video 3 years later. I agree Danny it’s a beast of a camera. I wonder if Sony has a new release this year and this is a way to help clear out some lingering inventory.
Nope, a good camera should last!
Absolutely love my FX3, real game changer!
Me too!
I love your content and appreciate the quality of your videos! I’m particularly interested in understanding the process behind your video sound recording. Could you please make a video or share some insights on how you manage your sound from start to finish? Specifically, I’d love to know about:
The world is working fine when Danny drops another video. LOL dude, it feels like yesterday we were watching you move to Hawaii.
Back in 2021, when you started using it, i wanted to buy that camera and be able to use such a beast in a small form factor. Now, 3 years later, i still cant even afford a XH2s, but my skills have improved greatly.
Some day hoping ill be as good as you were 3 years ago 😅
Thanks for the videos, thanks for the great content!
Danny, I just picked up FX30 a week ago after 3y with Blackmagic. Can’t wait to capture more and more 🙌
Nice man congrats!!
My inspiration, inspires me again! Who would've guessed it! Another awesome video Danny my g. 🤜🏼🤛🏿
Thank you dude!
so glad to hear that the fx3 ended up surviving the pool shot from ITIS 😭
Hahah me too
Always teaching me something new from your videos. I never thought I should use ND with 12800 in certain scenarios. I'm so excited to try that now!
Haha I do it all the time man!
Shooting a feature with the FX3 now...working great.
that color grade is on point!!
Thank you!
As a huge FX6 fanboy (I work in TV) the fx3 is also excellent, but if it had internal ND filters it would be a true game changer.
Yeah that’s my one wish but also don’t want it to be any bigger!
Thanks!
love how this id the first vid he makes after doing that nikon branded video (which looked amazing anyway)
Love this vid man. Everything you said, I feel the same.
FX3 is my bread and butter Cam. My whole living of the last 3 years is based on this Cam!
I really want this camera 😫 i just keep prioritizing getting lights and other essential gear as a new content creator/videographer(contemplating film making).
After watching this video, Im heading behind my laptop right now to get more jobs cuz I am getting this bad boy before this year ends🤬
Also, thanks for sharing Danny. Love you too bro 👊🏿
