Jojolion alone has introduced me to some of my favorite songs like Soft and wet, Paisley Park, king nothing, speed king, space Truckin, snoop dogg just in general, the Wonder of you and California king bed but this is the only time I'll ever admit it
The musical references are exactly why i love JoJo so much. Without this series, i could've never found some bands like King Crimson, Hawkwind, Dio and more artists that would eventually become my favorite artists. Thanks Araki!
What I’m looking forward to most in Part 9 is to truly get to experience a stand reveal for a song that is just so modern. I want to know what it feels like to have the villain of the hour reveal their stand and it’s deadass Oldtown Road.
That's a bit too recent lol, but I get what you mean. It was already cool seeing Stands named after music I really love, and I grew up listening to lots of 70s, 80s, and 90s music because of my parents, so I'm familiar with a lot of the references in the series, even if they aren’t songs or artists I actively listen to. However, seeing a Stand based on a Rihanna song is so surreal. It reminds me of how old I am now.
I'm still surprised there are so few Dio references, considering that you know core character of first universe and major character of 2nd universe have this name. Araki really only took name of the band and their most popular song and just dipped
So from what I can gather, Araki really loves Elvis, Prince, Steely Dan, Metallica, Deep Purple, AC/DC, Yes, Elvis Costello, Dio, Simon and Garfunkle, Queen, Santana, The Beetles, Led Zepplin, Beach Boys, Jimi Hendrix, David Bowie, James Brown, and Miles Davis. Those are the artists I keep seeing reused the most throughout the series.

@@drpepsi48 the thing is that Araki for the most part stays loyal to the whole name of the reference when naming a stand, only changing a letter or removing a "the". I hope Araki can finally answer the questions in an interview or artbook or something of what Walking Heart, Milagro Man, and Awaking III Leaves reference so that we can 100% be sure of what the references are, but until then we can only guess for now. I think I might have cracked the code for Walking Heart due to how fitting a pick Walkin’ Good is, but there’s still a possibility the real reference could be different.
@@drpepsi48 the thing is that Araki for the most part stays loyal to the whole name of the reference when naming a stand, only changing a letter or removing a "the". With Walkin' Good, he would've no need to change the name besides adding a "g". I'm not entirely convinced Walkin' Good is the correct reference.
@@WaldoDoesGames why does Holland K.Smith is an obscure artist ?
@@boi817 his music is on a dallas exclusive blues label that doesn't look like it's gotten much exposure outside of texas. It's just a coincidence that the song has the stand's name in it
Glad he referenced CAN and Hawkwind. Usually Araki references pretty popular western music, which I also like, but what I like even more is non-popular classic rock.
Lmao the fucking foreshadowing with having Matte kudasi being used in this video
California King Bed is still pretty young compared to the other Stand names along with Born This Way. I remember listening it in first grade way back 2011 and I felt weird seeing it as a stand name. Gosh. Good times tho.
Why is nobody pointing out that at 1:56 with the nut king call one Nat king cole and Nut king call are looking at each other
Why is his name "nut" instead of "nat"
Araki is so weird but a genius
Milagro man is actually a double reference. The songs referenced are "Miracle Man" by Elvis Costello (as shown in the video) and "Milagro" by Santana
One more, Radio Gaga
Soft and wet by prince slaps change my mind
Absolute banger
It's ok but paisley park is 1000000000 times better
My fave prince song are When Doves cry and Gold but yeah Soft and wet slap
5:26 the fusion of Freddy Mercury and David Bowie
I think that's why he put Under pressure since that song is a collaboration between David bowie and Mercury
Love the vids Hamon beat!
Missed Opportunity to name a Rock Insect Da Ba Dee Da Ba Da
We don't know if Rock insect will ever be over or somehow it appear later
That would of been legendary
After the second rock insect battle, I was fulling expecting the head doctor to pull out 2 more rock insects named, Oh ee oh ah ah and Ting tang walla walla bing bang.
Fault Awaking III Leaves, the stand of Mitsuba Higashikata
2:17 wait a minute Araki listens to Kanye?
Yes, he has also been referenced in part 7 as one of the racers which we never see the faces.
Damn! I remember spotting the Coda album when I was first reading JoJoLion, but I just thought "wow, a Led Zeppelin reference, cool." I should've known it was foreshadowing something, as later in the story both Poor Tom and his stand reference songs from the same album.
Bro I just noticed that Every Higashikata male family member has "King" somewhere in their Stand name.
Every Higashikata has a king in their name. Other than Josuke, of course.
IM SO HAPPY HEHE!! IM HERE AFTER THE FINAL BATCH IS CONFIRMED DEC 1ST THIS YEAR, AND I FINISHED JOJOLION EARLY THIS YEAR AND I REALLY TREASURE YOUR MUSIC REF VIDEOS SO I ALWAYS PUT IT OFF UNTIL NOW CUZ WHAT A BETTER MOMENT HAHAHHAAAA SORRY IM JUST TOO HAPPYYY UGH I MISS MY INTENSE JOJO PHASE LAST YEAR
The singer for "Les Feuilles Mortes" isn't Aznavour it's Alain Barrière there are several versions of course but Aznavour never did "Les feuilles mortes" and the version used in your video the Alain Barrière one
ruclips.net/video/aVZESkJomhI/видео.html
Well shit, I'm French and I didn't saw the difference between their voices
You are good, dude!
Delca saying for the nth time to Hamon Beat that "Les Feuilles" isn't from Aznavour 😔
One you missed, the sign for the sesame honey care also likely references the album "Red" by king crimson, having a very similar border design to that of the album cover of Red, minus the colour and top part
What chapter? I'm trying to find it
@@sadcena7204 I treid finding it but i guess manga dex sucks now so I didn't find it nowit's the same sign with the discipline reference so I'll giv the timestamp intead 2:09
Pls update this list it would be awesome to have a complete jojolion musical references
Thinking that a Brazilian singer got referenced in Jojo is amazing
Tooru confirms that all the songs that were used as stand names exist in universe. The only exceptions are parts 1, 2, and 7.
Didn't catch that Houses of the Holy at all, but it's so clear in retrospect. Araki loves integrating music-related art so much
0:08 I mean I must admit these videos I thought were just a mere coincidence but I HAVE BEEN PROVED WRONG. We know already that Araki likes ‘Yes’ music and that’s why he made the investment for the outro of Part 2 Battle Tendency to use the song ‘roundabout’ which is also by ‘Yes’
That wall eyes one is new!!! Amazing that someone caught that. Great vid as always!
A 3rd video in a week? I'll take it!
3:02 also mentioned from APO Hiking Society, and Kamikazee pinoy band itself for Doobie Wah!
I think we can all agree that Prince might be one of his favorite artists, i mean three of his eight Jojo's where based off him.
Indeed. "In interviews, Araki has said Prince was his favorite artist. In the credits section of each installment of the comic series, he constantly made references to Prince, recommending that readers buy Prince albums or lamenting that a Prince concert for which he'd bought tickets had been postponed."
Just watched through your whole playlist of these in order to make the ultimate JoJo refrence playlist of spotify, thanks for making the video cause it made this process much easier
This video has become an inside joke on your Discord server and I love it
What? I need to know
@@archiewildes people kept spamming “Please make an updated part 8 music references video” on his server’s video ideas channel due to the fact that there is only one musical reference excluded from this video (Radio Gaga) since the old version (this video) was released before chapter 109. It eventually resulted in the joke becoming a punishable offense on the server.
@@TradProtCJ lmao
That was a big suprise to know that a stand is name les feuilles after "les feuilles mortes" from Aznavour, it means dead leaf if you wanna know, anyway, this song is a classic in France it was really nice to find a reference about that in jojolion :D
Deadman's curve, roadrail? Wait wait did araki foreshadow this?
tom jobin playing out of nowhere hit me like a truck.
Araki has referenced brazil.
WE MADE IT BOYS
Jobin higashikata fazendo referência ao tom Jobim foi mt foda
Araki sabe q o Brasil existe
um detalhe do mangá diz q o herói do abbacchio foi o ayrton senna (n é meme)
@@Una201Melhor ainda é Josuke fazendo pose do Cazuza
i really hope that the manga will soon be finished , 10 years my guys
It's almost over fam 😔
Bruh
now?
*cries in awakenings lll leaves*
I haven’t felt more joy then when I heard killer queen played next to part 8 Kira.
2:09 OK that's it, the color scans officially suck now. What were they thinking, not making Discipline red? Smh my head
/s
The fact that i recognize more songs because of jojo. like one time my dad was humming a song i instantly knew he was singing de dododo, de dadada by the police💀
The Jobin Higashikata reference is so epic.
i screamed of joy when i saw the aphex twin reference
Was it confirmed if Awakenings No. 3: Leaves Floating was the reference for Awaking III Leaves or was that just wild mass guessing?
honestly, i find it really cute how both Josuke and Yasuho’s Stands are named after Prince songs
JoJoLion finally got completed!
2:09 just found my favorite song as easter egg there, when i read that chapter before i wasn't found that song, and when i watched this video i was very glad it was.
i found it and started listening it unironically because the title, Matte Kudasai is from Japanese it's mean "please wait" and i found it strange.
And now it's my personal piece of my favorite song ever, and always listening it when i feel alone, it gave me the surreal feeling but yet it's calming. and i'm very love it.
