"the explanation of the stone mask took away the supernatural elements of it" The explanation: an ancient god like being wanted to go out in the sun so he created a mask that gives you superpowers
@@shinyagumon7015 which funnily enough is closer to reality, because you can have the weakness and the looks of a classic Nosferatu type vampire irl by having a certain illness
also like the explanation is that the mask presses acumputure points in the brain that activates it's latent potential, isn't it? that's like, complete pseudo-science. if anything i think jojo making pseudo-scientific or surpsestitious ideas be acutally true in it's story ENHANCES it's supernatural mysteriousness.
That's the same BS as "Midi-chlorians suck because they take away the mysticism of the Force!" Like... *_no, it doesn't._* It's just a barebones explanation for HOW the thing works without actually defining it. The Stone Mask blatantly uses pseudoscience as we know it, and exactly what the "latent potential" is that it unlocks is never actually explained. JoJo "fans" just love proving how much they don't know squat, I guess.
you would never see anyone complain about this kind of thing for the previous parts. youd never see someone complain about the connections dio has to the villains in part 4, for example.
The utilitarian approach to watching anime vexes me too. I dont know why anyone would want to skip Josuke using Mikitaka to cheat at Rohan's game, its such a great episode.
If people want a show that only has plot heavy episodes they should watch Hazbin Hotel, I broke my neck how fast it went by, and guess what? I couldn't care about any of the characters or just anything going on because of it
Yeah I don't get it a lot of the time. I feel like people greatly undervalue moments/time to develop the characters outside the plot. It makes everything more fleshed out most of the time and is often crucial. People definitely love part 3 and 7 more because it has smaller moments/fights in them.
And also... without the inciting incident the story wouldn't happen. It doesn't matter if you think it's contrived, if you don't want it to happen then you don't want the plot
it's true. also, his shoes in the colored manga are green...it looks horrendious with the blue and red suit. the pink has blue buttons and blue shoes, contrasting greatly with giorno's green eyes and blonde hair
So many jojo protagonist have/had Blue as their primary color (Johnathan, Jotaro, Josuke, and Johnny) so changing Giorno to be a way more unique Pink is a huge improvement imo.
I'm starting to feel like Stardust Crusaders is more of a victim of hype-backlash than anything. It's been promoted over other parts for so long that people are a little too eager to accept criticism without questioning it. It hits far more often than it misses.
I think the pacing of the anime adaptation is kinda weird, even though I like SDC as a whole; there were WAY too many 2-parters that... really didn't need to be 2-parters. The manga's pacing is a lot snappier.
That explanation about Marco at the end was absolutely beautiful. Made me wanna give a standing ovation for just that. Just realized how much of part 7's thematics I failed to connect. This guys knows jojo.
Hot Take: Jotaro often gets mischaracterized as an omega unfeeling badass or whatever. We see time and time again he genuinely cares a lot about stuff even if he does try to hide it BECAUSE HE IS A TEEN. He notices his mom doesn't come to say goodbye to him despite him claiming to hate hit, he asks Avdol to say one liners, and more. And this gets proved again when you look at Iggy. Jotaro really is just a teenager
I honestly subscribe to the theory that Jotaro has Autism and that he just struggles to express his emotions and expects everyone to be able to tell. I can relate as someone on the spectrum, and it really doesn't feel far-fetched.
@@leithaziz2716 That's... actually kind of canon? The little profile for Jotaro in some of the manga releases states that he doesn't usually emote bc he doesn't see a need to and thinks his feelings are obvious.
@leithaziz2716 He's truly our feisty nonverbal autistic queen and we love him for it (Jokes aside, I've always been a big subscriber to this theory too, mostly cuz of those data entries that say he views emoting as useless and that his emotions should simply be obvious within the moment. It's made him one of my favourite characters, just because I related so hard to him as a teenager)
People here have mentioned autism as an explanation for Jotaro's behavior, but there's one element I think that doesn't come up nearly enough. Jotaro is a 17 year old kid with a mostly absent dad, who himself becomes a mostly absent dad. He clearly has a lot of anger issues stemming from this, which means that his growing relationship with his grandfather is a really nice touch across the story. Stands are the expression of someone's soul. Jotaro is stoic, but his stand is furiously aggressive. It's clear he's bottling a lot up. And then try to unpack the fact that he ends up unleashing all that anger on a body that is literally his direct ancestor.
i said this in the post already but i think diavolo is underrated. his name being the inverse of dio's is a great way of showing their opposing views of fate, where dio wants people to embrace it while diavolo runs from it. this also makes him the perfect antithesis to the lessons of part 5, and i think that's neat. also kc is very cool
I love all of jojo's religious themes, so I can really appreciate Dio's son (Son of God) defeating Diavolo (Devil). Not quite as on the nose as pucci and weather but it's cool
I love diavolo, he’s kinda bland as a villain but his design (especially when he was in the shadows and had a completely different haircut and clothes), stand, and characterization is all awesome
i love diavolo. i tend to find that when people discuss him, they kind of forget that he had a massive presence throughout the part from the get-go. diavolo didn't just like start existing during the colosseum arc, his existence, his presence, was there the whole time. the idea of the mafia leader that keeps his identity completely hidden is terrifying, and the way he almost compulsively and aggressively tries to hide any and all evidence of who he is is deeply compelling. i would agree with the idea that diavolo is a weaker antagonist if you only looked at his time in the colosseum, but i think that's some extreme cherry-picking.
@@HSE331 Pretentiousness isn't exclusive to any fandom but it is true that a lot of people just don't pay enough attention and end up not understanding the ending
My hot take that was reinforced by this video is that people are overusing the word "Filler" as a criticism. Stories are not just about getting from Plot Point A to Plot Point B in the most direct and straightforward way possible, an episode or a chapter not directly focusing on the main storyline doesn't mean it's unimportant or bad.
people care too much about the ending, the final boss, the legendary pokemon and etc, they get into jojo expecting that big Dio fight with time stopping and get frustrated when they actually have to watch the show to get to it
6:45 JoJo fans really want to take all of the personality out of JoJo. How would JoJo be any fun if it only had the "necessary" fights and none of the ones that add some personality to the world the series is set in?
i'm guessing its because there is an endless pit of anime to consume so some people want to minmax watching so they can join in on every discussion of popular anime that said its a dogshit tactic. all it does is increase the amount of fans without comprehension skills who ask questions about things that were answered in the part they skipped lol
Quick entertainment has become so vapid, and attention spans so short, that any piece of media that requires some basic level investment from an audience becomes like a shore you have to go through to not get left behind in the conversation, it's kind of sad really. That's why there are now "totally legitimate anime fans" that non-ironically recommend skipping introductory arcs (like One Piece's East Blue Saga) because "they're all the same like a super hero origin story" or make crazy read/watch orders to "trim the fat and get to the good stuff", it's like the "adults that never matured out of being picker eaters" version of consuming media.
God the gyro analysis at the end is so spot on, people completely misunderstand his character and the message of the story simply because they didn't like the outcome.
Hot take: Giornos “lack of character development” isn’t only false but it’s also what makes the story work. While giorno doesn’t exhibit much change personality wise you can see that his relationship with team buccarati is different from the start to the finish. At the beginning giorno was the odd one out and you can clearly tell the group treats him like an outsider until he earns their trust. You can also see how at the beginning giorno didn’t knew a lot of things about his own ability and we see how he slowly masters gold experience throughout the story. Last but not least a big part of Giorno is how he shines a light that moves his teammates foward as they have resigned to their fates and it isn’t until giorno pushes everyone foward that they grew and ultimately achieve a greater purpose by stopping diabolo
@@narutofror i like how someone else put it: "giorno already finished his own character development before the story started. his main role in the story proper is to jumpstart the others' (bucci gang) character developments"
@@PsycheTrance65 And knowing that Giorno is also meant to be a Jesus allegory, then yeah, that is pretty much absolutely his role. He pretty much went through the main chunk of his growth, now it is his time to guide his new allies onto their path of resolve
It feels like they deliberately did this so that most of the first season episode count would cover part 2. Kinda sucks though as they left out really interesting scenes.
I think it’s better without the sacrifice scene. It makes the mask more mysterious since we don’t explicitly see what its purpose is until Dio uses it on the guy in the street.
I agree. I grew to love part 1 so much, the anime adaptation was just rushed imo. Do you guys think it could've been stretched the same length of bt? Or nah?
Hot take: people make way to much of a fuss over automatic pursial type stands in jojolion. i feel like the fandom just reached a consensous because monthly reading really breaks up the tension of a chase, but if anyone read it in one sitting without those preconceptions, i think they'd find a lot of good in fights like doobie wah and blue hawaii. hell if you want to lump wonder of u in there too, that arc is immesnly good in the way it reverses the pursuit.
I agree. I just cant get poor toms stand for the life of me, with burying of the whitehouse. Other than that, doobie wah and blue hawaii actually goes hard
actual hot take: people shit on part 3s pacing and stand of the week when as a weekly manga you could tune in literally any time and recieve a high octane action packed fight and mystery as well as a new geographic setting
as a person who read part 8 after the conclusion: doobie wah is fucking amazing i just love it even the final battle didn't seem dragged on after reading it all in one sit
honestly thats a big problem with regular releases in general. i remember when people were reading jjk as the manga came out a lot of people (myself included) actually thought the shibuya arc was boring. after re reading and watching the anime all in one go i can safely say its one of my favorite arcs in any show ever.
My Hot Take is that the Ending of Part 6 is Perfect, because it completely pinpoints the entire reason why the Jostars are so good. It’s always about saving others. The main JoJo in every single part has saved a child. And in the end, Jolyne sacrifices herself to save Emporio, which ties this theme from the very beginning of part 1 all the way through until now. Even if they can save just one person, the Jostar bloodline will always fight like hell to. It’s a really beautiful and powerful theme and the Ending just highlights this for the story entirely.
It also ties into Jolyne being the most underrated Jojo. Other Jojos risk potential injury in their fights. Jolyne absolutely knows she's fucked and yet still does the right thing. She doesn't just risk death, she faces it.
Hot Take: Anasui deserved more recognition from both the characters and the fans. Anasui is one of the best supporting characters in JoJo. He risked his life many times and showed us what he is capable of. Without him, Jolyne would have never reached Pucci at the Cape. Sure he's a simp, but he's so good that Jotaro eventually accepted him and went with his plan.
I really like Anasui as being crucial to the plot, but in terms of solo character he falls flat so much. Everybody has a connection to Pucci, and he just showed up and decided to join cause he just likes Jolyne. I would have love to see Anasui deal with his own character arc and growing like all the other secondary characters (FF, Weather, Ermes and Emporio) And Im still pissed off the fact they didnt keep Anasui as female like the original manga.
My hot take is that a lot of complaints about Jojo really are just people coming in with some expectation and being confused when it's not met. imo often relating to expecting Jojo to be more similar to other shonen stories and being confused with something like stands being unlike other shonen abilities and rules theyre used to.
I think the confusion stems from the fact that JoJo is a niche doesn't fit into a clear genre since every part is so distinctly different. And then there's just stylistic choices, like the ever changing color palletes depending on the mood, or time stopping everytime a character exposites what's happening (hello Speedwagon). This is not me riffing on JoJo. I legitimately am charmed by how unconventional it is, while still having many human elements to latch unto for the emotional aspects to work for an audience.
Jojo kinda the reverse of typical shonen genre really. Having a more serious and mature themes and story, a non static protagonist, villains who are dangerous in different ways even if they’re not always powerful like Kira, and characters who stay dead and don’t come back to life.
I didn't realize this was a hot take but I don't think the pacing issue of the D'Arby the Gambler arc being stretched to 2 episodes is an issue at all. That is one of my favorite episodes of Jojo in general and I love how drawn out it is. You can really feel the tension and anxiety and it's awesome.
absolutely! i personally don't really have any issues with the pacing of the part 3 anime and both d'arby fights despite being quite long are some of my favorite episodes in the series
9:15 Pink also stands outs against all the other JoJos. We had Jotaro and Josuke back to back with blueish black of male school uniforms (with Jotaro having some other undertones). With Jolyne also keeping it navy. So giving Giorno something different works really well, especially as he is also (dyed) blonde opposite to other Joestars.
Hot Take: Diavolo is one of, if not the best villain in JoJo For one, I think his character design is perfect and is kind of a microcosm of what JoJo is all about. It's weird, colourful and flamboyant, and Diavolo's design fits this perfectly. The fact that a man with long, pink polka-dotted hair, purple lipstick, a revealing feminine lace shirt and purple studded pants still manages to be one of the coolest and most intimidating villains is exactly what I'd expect from JoJo Making Diavolo split personalities with Doppio was a genius decision. For one, it suits the 'devil' theme that Diavolo is going for. Seeing this normal looking kid suddenly gain piercing green eyes, a much deeper and softer voice and gain a level of physical strength that seemingly doesn't match his physique really sells the idea that Doppio is being possessed by a demon. It also lets us feel Diavolo's presence without him having to be there. The whole point of part 5 was uncovering the identity of Diavolo and where he is, so Diavolo was kinda forced to have the least amount of screentime for a JoJo villain. Yet because of Doppio every scene with him after Risotto gains an extra layer of fear since we know he could snap at any moment. He also has IMMENSE thematic relevancy not just to Part 5, but to JoJo as a whole. Every JoJo villain has had the idea of securing or running away from their date, but Diavolo was the first villain who was OBSESSED with fate. His very existence is a blessed impossibility, he grew up with people who loved him, discovered the stand arrows, gained an immensly powerful stand and became the boss. His stand literally lets him pick and choose what his fate is. Furthermore he also doesn't trust anyone but himself (and Doppio ig) and doesn't allow anyone near him under any circumstance. All of this is a direct opposite to Giorno and the gang. They were all dealt pretty bad hands in life, yet their resolve and love for each other pushed them upwards. Whilst I'm in the camp that Diavolo didn't deserve his fate, it is a thematically satisfying one. The man who always chose his fate, now is forced to meet his fate whether he wants to or not, over and over and over. It also ties back to the religious symbolism. The son of God (DIO) defeats the devil and he faces eternal punishment as a result
18:40 The problem is it just kinda happens out of nowhere, maybe a chapter actually all around Sandman slowly being corrupted would have made the reveal way more meaningful, like being told there is a bomb underneath the table instead of the table randomly exploding.
I sobbed in the bathroom at work when I finished it it destroyed me and uplifted me so utterly. I loved all the fights too. Foo Fighter's reveal and the plankton explaining itself and the universe were unbelievably awesome. Love the entire part.
TRUE AND BASED !! i have stand battles i like more in other parts and part 4 has the best characters imo but part 6 is the best overall EASILY. im never going to watch or read it ever again because it makes me sad but it's for sure the best one
My all time favourite episode of JoJo's is "Let's go eat some Italian food", the one with Tonio Trussardi. It ties in a lot of elements of body horror, especially with the way Okuyasu's body reacts to Tonio's food, and the constant back and forth between "Is Tonio good?" and "Is Tonio bad?" is masterful storytelling. Sure, it plays literally no role in the general story of part 4, but it's still a really good episode, and underrated as hell in my opinion. To skip an episode like that, or the episodes with Mikitaka, Shizuka, Bug-Eaten, sure it won't impact that story, but they're fun episodes to watch, to help grow the characters further and showcase them a lot more as the grow as stand users
Stuff like that was why Part 4 is my favorite. I feel like the part also shows why I feel Jojo's works so well with the suspense/thriller and slight horror elements
On the topic of removing half of part 4 - I actually love that the first half is lighthearted/not overly serious, especially after how serious part 3 was for the entire run. Having episodes like Tonio, Rohan, and Mikitaka do a good job showing that this quiet little town just has some weird stuff hiding in it until we get to Kira and we see how dark a place like this can get.
The problem with sound man isnt his eventual corruption. it's that theres no buildup or hints. If the main understanding of what happened is "oh thats the alternate universe him" then it simply doesnt work
Thank you for ordering these by part, it makes watching these videos a thousand times less stressful knowing I won't be spoiled or have to cut ahead to avoid being spoiled.
Dio taking over the opening at the end of part 3 rocked me so hard it literally affected my anime habits from then on, I make sure to watch openings more than once per season, as opposed to how i used to skip them, since at that time streaming anime was relatively new and it was easy to binge shows if younskipped the op and ed
Hot take: Stands so far have peaked in part 8 with both abilities and design overall. Part 8 doesn't have the most crazy wacky abilities like 6, but it has the best in ability and overall design imo
Hot take: Jojolion is easily the most underrated part of JoJo’s, and the only reasons why people dislike it are because: 1) It was very different to what came before 2) It was the follow-up to Steel Ball Run, which directly led to comparisons being made 3) The sheer amount of “araki forgots” generated by the poor reading comprehension exhibited by Jojo fans In all honesty, Jojolion is one of my favorite parts of Jojo, and yes, while it might not be perfect, it still doesn’t deserve half the hate it receives.
It was my favourite part untill i caught up at the start of the WOU chase and i just couldn't get along with the fuckery and sheer amount of bullshit it had. I thought that the "time untill harvest" flash forward was interesting as hell until it didn't. But it still has my favorite ending in all of jojo
@@justinstrong9595 I've read all Jojo on Mangadex, they got good scans and translations. Not sure if they have an app, I just use my phone browser and it works fine.
All of the punishment ward arc fights really grew on me (like a flower grown by green baby) Westwood’s fight is the most brutal and cqc focused battles in the whole series. Kenzou is a great concept for a cult leader stand user and has some fantastic scenes of tension. And YoYoMa hits harder if youve been to the south and had a swarm of mosquitos on you
@@HSE331 the thing is that everyone treats the anime like it's the "definitive experience" for how to see the story after it comes out and completely neglects the manga
@@HSE331 It's wrong on so many levels. First, you defend shit like Bleach TYBW that was rushed and anime doesn't need to improve the SM, right? Second, you're literally against the art and pro entertainment. Third, preventing your fav thing from growing alongside adaptation is literally the opposite of JoJo you're oh so passionately defending you fanboy.
@@finjaquetemumnomeaqui4838 well thats a bad thing. jojo is arakis art not some intern at studio david pro trying to emulate it. they are both valuable mediums but western jojo fans just want to ignore it. and don't get me started on the coloured scans.
Hot take: I really miss the larger proportions of the early JoJo series. I’m a stupidly tall man myself and JoJo was the first anime and one of the first pieces of media I had ever seen that depicted large men as more than brutes or jocks. Big buff men don’t have to be stupid sportsmen, they can be archaeologists (Jonathan), Oceanographers (Jotaro), and JoJo lets them have their own personalities and interests beyond being physically strong. A lot of media, surprisingly, doesn’t do that. Which makes it all the more disappointing that as the series has gotten rid of most of the physical fighting elements, the characters have all become much more average in height, weight, and build. The protagonists have practically become the stock anime character when it comes to body type, (completely average height and muscular but pretty skinny), and most characters vary only slightly from the average body type. Araki has started taking some steps in the right direction in part 9 with Meryl Mei Qi and Paco being heavily muscled, but I’d love to see him draw a 6’5+ giant dude again, even as a joke character. Bonus points if he gives him an actual personality too. I get why Araki might have made this choice. I have a feeling he wanted to make these characters more relatable and make their characteristics based on their style and aesthetic choices rather than physical build or looks. But some people are just genetically large like the old Joestars, and I kinda miss that aspect in later parts.
Hot take : I belive it was incredibly stupid for adaptation to skip the 77 rings challenge from part 1 because its a really great concept that show just how strong was bruford and tarkus even without their zombie strength
3:46 Counterpoint: The Anime's episodes are only about 22 minutes long, meanwhile the OVA's episodes are 30 minutes themselves, which means the OVA had an advantage over it with those extra 8-10 minutes the TV show can't afford. And if we're being serious, it's only about 10 minutes of extra fight that the anime added. Personally I'm a big fan of D'Arby being given two episodes worth of action in the anime, he always felt like one of the more dangerous threats and it was unique giving so much screentime (while other 2 parters in Egypt, not so much).
I would love to have a hot take, but don't have any. The only one I could think of is that Keicho is underrated and needs more fleshing out/attention. Maybe a spinoff about his 10 year journey to get the arrow and learn about dio.
@@authorbat5562 I heard that, but that could be because of the shorter length (aka stopping at his arc), so they can expand more upon this part of the story. I assume you watched that keicho review video? I also saw it and thought it was nifty.
Bro I was just talking to a friend about this a few days ago, Keicho died way too fast and he's such an interesting character, I like Akira Otoishi, he's fun, but Keicho had so much going on with him, his morals, his relationship with his father and Okuyasu 😔🙏 the Nijimuras, apart from Jotaro and Joseph obviously, are also the only ones in the DIU cast (as far as I remember, sorry) with some connection to Dio because of their father, c'mon. To be honest I just have a some beef with Araki for paying more attention to Koichi and Rohan and leaving Okuyasu aside because when you think about it my boy had SO MUCH to explore about him and his whole family.
@@dorian.badillac glad he's appreciated somewhat. I tend to gravitate to the "older sibling who is outshone by the younger counterpart" 2 anime episodes max and 2 flash backs over 2 series (diu and gw)? Criminal. Especially the stand too. So much potential gone and it is a miracle whenever someone includes him.
Hot take: if the anime adaptation features toru in the background of the tg university hospital like Kira from part 4, he would be liked a lot more as the reason most people dislike him is his abruptness in the story
It would definitely help, but I feel that most people's problem is that he's not much of an overarching villain. He's technically the 'leader' of the local rock humans, but he doesn't feel much more significant. Diavolo was the leader of the stand mafia and his influence was always shown off pretty well, Toru just feels like he's the last villain of part, so he has the strongest stand by principle. Wonder of U goes hard though, top 10 stands easily
@@stinkle4822 exactly. wonder of u is sick and toru is a good villain, he just doesnt feel like much of a main villain. hopefully the adaptation follows part 4 and araki continues to be open to different interpretations of his stories. even just alluding to some big bad leader of the rock humans or at least making them seem like more of a team and less like a bunch of 2 bit gangsters would do wonders
Fugo being a spy is actually referenced in AllStarBattle+R. If you put him against anyone in Passione they describe fugo as a foe due to him being a spy. Thought it was just dialogue to describe why they might be fighting and it was cool to find out it was actually the concept
Hot Take: Heavy Weather would have been more interesting if it wasn't just people turning into snails and maybe had more individual transformations. The snails feel like a unfortunate joke that got old fast personally. Love the vids!
hearing modern anime fans or really just fans of anything these days refer to any episode that doesn't directly move the main plot forward as filler is infuriating.
Part 9 is the first part I'm following as it's released, and I Looooove virtual insanity. I think Born This Way gave me the most hope that it could happen
Hot Take: There is no strongest JoJo character. I personally believe that it's a four way tie with Giorno with requiem, Johnny with Act 4, Tooru, and Gappy with Go Beyond. Each character can counter another and it's a difficult choice for who you would consider strongest.
21:45 "their future lives are kept a mystery" We actually do have one hint about their relationship after part 7. It's the fact that Johnny named his son after his father. I don't think a man who hasn't forgiven his father would do something like that.
Hot Take: Part 6 is top 3 JoJo parts and arguably better than part 7. While Part 7 might have some better aspects, The way Part 6 displays the core theme of the show (fate) is spectacular and is an amazing way to conclude the first story.
I can't believe you didn't mention that Speedwagon was constantly bent out of shape that he couldn't help fight like Johnathan and Zeppeli were, and when Zep's arm was frozen, did what little he could to help thaw him.
My biggest problem with Marco's death is not that it happens, but in how it's presented. The part is so beautifully written that I cannot help but think it feels a little 'tacked on' at the last possible moment.
Hot take: I personally believe that part 6 is the best written of the parts, and Pucci is actually my favorite JoFoe. My 3 favorite stands are from that part, and the other stands were very unique and likeable. The cast was great, my only gripe being Ermes(not a bad character, just not my favorite). Part 6 had a really deep feel to it, more so than the other parts, imo. Heavy Weather was an incredible arc that really made me feel for Pucci and Weather, while challenging my sense of morality. Pucci was very philosophical, and had some great quotes I love, while also having a cool design and stands. The ending was sad, but a great conclusion to the old universe. Jolyne was the 2nd JoJo to die in her own part, with the only other being Jonathan, which I feel brought it full circle. A character who wasn’t the mc being the one to defeat Pucci was also unique, and executed extremely well. Then the end with Emporio meeting his deceased friends again, as reincarnated people free of burden was really touching. I could probably go on, but parts 3 and 6, are my personal favorites, for very different reasons. Edit: Stone Ocean is the only part I watched, in addition to reading about 90-95% of the manga, so I may like it more having digested it twice, as opposed to only watching the first 5 part’s anime. I also haven’t finished SBR, I’m on Catch the Rainbow, and as much as I do like it, I take a long time to read manga, due to me spending too long admiring Araki’s art.
literally how have i never heard the phrase jofoe i love it lol. And I also love pucci he is a little underrated i think, he is very strong and scary with an amazing aura and design.
I have a hot take: *Stands are not faster than light* Most JoJo fans say that stands are faster than light. From what I noticed in several comments, the point to support this opinion are based on the scenes where Silver Chariot manages to land blows on Hanged Man(who actually moves faster than light), and that Silver Chariot reflected attacks coming from The Sun . The point is that, honestly, both of these scenes are easily explainable: 1 - *Literally the point of the fight against Hanged Man is that Kakyoin and Polnareff were trying to discover some weakness about Hanged Man, some way to attack him. The scenes in which Silver Chariot manages to hit Hanged Man occur precisely because they discovered a weakness, a way to attack him, which would be by predicting his movements - It doesn't matter how fast he moves, as long as they already know his movement , his speed is useless. In other words, Polnareff only managed to hit Hanged Man with Silver Chariot because he already knew the trajectory that Hanged Man would take, and not necessarily because Silver Chariot is faster than light.* 2 - *The attacks that The Sun launched against the Crusaders were not moving at the speed of light. . .because, if they really were moving at the speed of light, all the Crusaders would die right there, and Polnareff would never be able to call the Silver Chariot to defend itself. Seriously, do people really believe that Polnareff is faster than light now or something ?* There are many other points, scenes in the anime that simply put this 'faster than light' thing into discredit. - How would Koichi be able to see Star Platinum's movements if Star Platinum moves faster than light ? - If Silver Chariot is faster than light, how did Emperor's bullets manage to dodge his sword (since, statistically, Emperor is weaker in speed than Silver Chariot)? - In the fight against Ebony Devil, if Silver Chariot really moves faster than light, how the hell did Ebony Devil manage to evade his blows? (The stand clearly wasn't moving faster than light, as Polnareff could see the stand move move, or at least his feet) ? - How the hell did Jotaro get hit by knives in the battle against Dio, given that Star Platinum (supposedly) is faster than light? Were the knives moving faster than light or something like that? Like, damn, if Star Platinum REALLY had the speed of light, he would be able to stop all the knives Dio threw STILL WITHIN THE REACTION TIME JOTARO HAS IN THE TIME STOP. - In the fight against Anubis, Polnareff (being controlled by Anubis) would never be able to call Silver Chariot to defend himself from Star Platinum's blow if Star Platinum REALLY was faster than light. Or does Polnareff also have a reaction time faster than light and I don't know ? . . .Well. . . . . I just can't bear to read so many comments about how stands are faster than light, when they clearly aren't (Or at least there are several scenes that contradict this) ! The only stands that truly move at the speed of light are Hanged Man and Made in Heaven
@ProfVibes Bro. . . Look, with all due respect. . .But, look carefully: in the scenarios that I brought as an example of why stands are not faster than light, the characters were in a literal life or death situation. Take the DIO vs Jotaro battle, the scene where DIO stops time and throws countless knives at Jotaro: Jotaro was in a life or death situation, and, more than that, he was in the final battle to end his journey and save his mother. It would be more than OBVIOUS that, in this situation, Jotaro would use the full potential of his stand. If Star Platinum really was faster than light, it would have stopped all those thrown knives in the blink of an eye. In the battle against The Sun, the crusaders were caught by surprise against a seemingly invincible stand. In this situation, obviously everyone would make the most of their stands. If Sun's attacks truly traveled at the speed of light, Polnareff would not be able to summon Silver Chariot in time and would get hit. I know there are things in a story that don't follow logic and reason at all times just for dramatic and story reasons, but this stands beign faster-than-light thing is simply a huge contradiction. And this same logic applies to other scenarios: The characters were in danger, or in a life or death situation, so they would obviously use the full potential of their stand to escape. But, idk, maybe I'm just wrong But I've never seen any argument that supports the idea that stands are faster than light
I honestly didn't see anything wrong with the pacing of part 3, it seemed fine to me, I was so excited to always watch the next part that I would watch the intros for the next part while I was watching the current, and with part 3 it was long enough but also short enough to keep that excitement and appeal to it
my hot take about the ova is that it gave one of the best abridged series lines ever; "WHAT'S IT GOING TO BE D'ARBY??? WHAT'S IT GOING TO FUCKING BE????"
I firmly believe that Jotaro has been able to stop time the whole time, rather Star Platinum can. But Jotaro cannot consciously use it, so he does not notice. I like to think when giornos stand says "I have abilites even my user does not know about" or something like that.
Here's one for ya, dunno how much of a hot take it is, though. Polnareff having so much screentime in Part 3 isn't a bad thing. Different characters bring different things into the table, and Polnareff brings a big contrast to the rest of the group. He's reckless, he's stubborn, he's oblivious, and at times he's also quite comedic. The *REAL* problem is how little action Avdol got, now that's fucking criminal. Same with Iggy. Polnareff isn't the problem there.
My hot take is that Tooru from Jojolion is actually a really good villain, and he's just considered worse than the others because the conflict from Jojolion isn't entirely centered around stopping the Rock Humans. Araki really wanted to play with the Rock Humans' lack of humanity and their parasitic nature and Tooru is the ultimate expression of that theme.
I just liked Wonder of U as a villain more. A stand villain is not only really badass, but also really speaks to themes in Jojolion, Stands as curses and blessings. Just like Milagro man and Les Feuilles, Wonder of U could have simply been Calamity incarnate and not a stand in relative control of calamity. Tooru really lacks in villainess I guess... he doesnt have as many memorable lines or moments, and is kind of pathetic. The only really cool part of Tooru was his demise ironically. But he's also pretty over hated, I do see why someone would like him
Hot take: a batch release isn’t really all that bad, as long as they don’t make you wait so long in between like Netflix did (decent idea, terrible execution)
Hot take: too many of the fights follow a formulaic structure with the guys completely on the backfoot until they win with a single asspull, whether genius or stupid.
I find it sad how some people treat manga, anime, films, games, media that has shown that they can be art forms, as simple products to be consumed (and consumed as fast as possible, hence the usual complaints about filler). Like, yeah, it's entertainment, but for the people that created it, it's something more. "A celebration of humanity", after reading Jojo for almost a decade, I can agree about that.
The one with Pucci was crazy tbh. Since Pucci is actually one of the best if not the best written villain in Jojo. Everything about him makes perfect sense
12:30 to be fair Dragon's Dream is still really confusing even if you take your time to read it. I love part 6 but even I have a hard time understanding how the detaching arm attack works. I don't even have a good way to describe it. Writing off complaints as "JoJo fans having terrible reading comprehension" just sounds pretentious. I'm not saying it isn't explained in the text, but I think people just wish it was explained in a different way that was easier to understand.
Yeah, I think they definitively could have explained that part of DD way better. As far as I can tell, I think the way it works is that touching the Dragon automatically "redeems" (so to speak) all your good/bad luck at once by using your floating limbs to micromanage everything that's about to happen. Facing a bad direction at that moment caused you to get WOU'd for a few moments. Facing a safe direction at that moment causes that same thing to happen to your enemy instead.
@Emmariscobar That's wrong, Dragon's Dream follows the concept of Feng shui, which says that there is a flow of positive and negative energy that shapes the natural universe (Feng shui literally translates to "wind-water"), so if one can predict and visualize the directions of these flows, they could use this knowledge to have extreme good luck or to lessen the effects of the negative flow, as Annasui explains, if Feng shui affects the universe on such a large scale, it can also apply to individuals and their bodies. Dragon's Dream takes this concept to its extreme conclusion; the compass in Kenzo's hand shows his "lucky" direction, so as long as he follows it, he's immune to direct damage, while the orb shows his opponent's "unlucky" direction, so if someone touches it, the orb forces them to follow that direction, creating an event of extreme misfortune.
6:28 I think there's just ALOT of hate for filler/non-essential story bits nowadays. People seem to have gotten themselves accustomed to rushing through a series instead of taking their time to enjoy and become immersed in the world, characters, and story. I understand that filler can be annoying at times but other times I see it as us the viewers being given more time with the characters and the world around them. It depends on how it's done. Filler can be bad but at the same time I think the problem can also stem from the viewer having a lack of interest and passion for a series. I think people have become very impatient with stories now, even with cases like this where it's not even filler, just moments from part 4 that aren't HUGE that involve something like an important character dying every few seconds or something.
Hot take: Purple Haze isn't as OP as the community claims that it is. As shown by the Man in the Mirror Fight, he can clearly be defeated by a well-corrdinated attack by someone else's ability. In addition, he loses to both Soft Machine and the Greatful Dead without even a fight, so its clear that his stand is not immune to being taken down conventionally. While you could argue that the stand can instantly win a fight when the enemy is in its range with a single punch, this applies to most stands in general, such as Star Platinum and Killer Queen who can win any fight with one good hit. In purple haze feedback he also loses to a lot of stands as well, with a perfect example being Nightbird Flying. In fact, I'd say the only stands that he is really good against are the close range punchy stands, and maybe stands that utilize a really specific gimmick. His stand is more op at the end of purple haze feedback but idk if that's canon
I honestly really like the dragons dream fight. It plays around with fate by using feng shui. I've always appreciated when araki takes some pseudoscience or myth and uses it to develop his idea of fate
I’ve been rewatching all your videos on a binge with my gf and we’ve come to the conclusion that the most shown manga panel on this channel is the one of avdol saying he was born with a stand
Donatello Versus is not only the best son of Dio in part 6, but also the best and most interesting side antagonist. Him and his stand are incredibly underrated and have insane potential. He betrays Pucci, and becomes one of the only characters to attempt to achieve heaven. Donatello is also the reason that Weather was able to get his memories back and activate Heavy Weather. His stand is also criminally underrated, as Underworld has some of the most potential in the entire series, literally being able to dig massive caverns in minutes, and summon past events instantaneously. He is incredibly powerful and interesting, but for some reason him and his stand stay the most underrated in the franchise.
ive never understood the excuse "i couldnt get into jojo i dont like the artstyle" its for the most part not that much differnt from other anime and manga
Hot take: I feel like even when Jojo memes can be one of the reason the series become so popular, it quickly washed out the deeper meaning and story telling of jojo because people attend to ignore them.
17:38 i think the reason many of us were somewhat disappointed with the way Sandman was handled was because he was so fuckin cool and hyped up the whole time. It felt like he was going to be a protagonist/ main cast character. But when you think about it, it does make sense that he puts his own people first. He is not like us, the reader. He wouldn't know wether or not its a good idea to team up with johnny and gyro, so he weighed his options. And since Johnny is a nobody and valentine is world famous he chose accordingly. Just wish i coulda seen my boy fight valentine 😔😢
I think it's a little frustrating with some jojo fans when I feel like they don't really understand the villian or what the part is really about sometimes. I think it's okay to not absolutely love the part 4 town setting. But it's just wasn't meant to be your favorite, I personally find part 5 to be my least favorite but the mafia setting just wasn't meant for me.
my hot take is that the d'arby jotaro is genuinely the most entertaining (personally) fight in stardust crusaders bit ironic considering it barely involves their stands
I've absolutely gotta drop my thoughts on Dragon's Dream while the video's fresh. I like most of the fights before and after it, so I'm not a total hater. Dragon's Dream is one of the very, very few jojo fights I outright dislike. The concept of the feng shui attack is fine, but I could never enjoy the execution. The whole fight feels completely one sided, and Kenzou's ability always amounts to 'you lose'. As soon as he orients himself properly, he is never going to lose this fight. It reminds me of king crimson and how GER is nearly hand crafted to beat it, because it can counter nearly every ability in jojo, and nearly any ability conceivable. Kenzou had a near invincible ability. Maybe if it had some drawback, like needing to charge up, or leaning more into the idea of the dragon keeping the fight equal, just something. As soon as this man points his feet in some direction, you lose. How is he beaten? He stands wrong by accident. As far as I'm concerned, Kenzou could've stood completely still that entire fight, a gun would've dropped into his hands after enough lucky time passed, and he could shoot the group dead with his eyes closed. It's especially unfortunate because it could've been a great fight for FF, taking full advantage of her biology and abilities. She could've split herself into multiple bodies again, or taken over more live hosts, overwhelming Kenzou and throwing off his feng shui since he'd have to reorient constantly. Unfortunately, we're left with a compilation of FF getting absolutely dunked on until Anasui steps in and makes sure Kenzou doesn't end the entire series. I really hope this is coherent, because it's probably one the fights I feel strongest about, despite my disliking. Also if you touch the dragon orb your arms turn into heat seeking missiles, 10/10
The only part I like is the stand itself. The bickering with Kenzou is funny, and thematically, having the dragon try to even the playing field I think fits the whole martial arts thing. Other than that, not only are the abilities very ??? FF's solution of magic water mirror is also ?????? It's all very confusing. I know, I know, it's jojo, it's made to be weird, but I genuinely struggled in understanding what exactly the stand was, and how to go around it, since it really feels like a playground fight between two kids who change the rules to not lose
@@mrfact03s Kenzou definitely isn't super concentrated, considering his own stand is constantly pissing him off, and he couldn't notice his own legs getting shattered for a minute. Even if he has to love around to take full advantage of feng shui, it still makes him effectively invulnerable. The fight in concept is fine, but the execution doesn't work for me. Jumpin Jack Flash is another fight I'm not super into, but I can appreciate the wacky jojo stuff like the vapour suits and exploding rats. Kenzou's fight doesn't have any of that zest, and it amounts to his ability just feeling like if he walks around he wins
I think that Rohan is a good choice for spin off stuff. Not just for the reasons you listed, but his stand is incredibly versatile. He can pretty much have a fighting chance in any situation by himself, whereas many other characters need the team aspect to get things done. Koichi is a great character too, but you can only do so much with three freeze and onomatopoeia.
I think it would be very interesting if you did videos covering what you believe the themes and the takeaway from each part, both because it could create places for some good discussion in the comment section and because I still see a lot of people treating Jojo's like it has very surface level writing with barely none, if any, deeper ideas behind the plot
(in the anime) In part 6, when Jolyne gets sent to the detention ward. A prisoner throws his crap at Jolyne and manages to hit her. Based on the layout provided, only one prisoner could have thrown their crap (the one directly across from her). The issue is the bars on the door provide little to no possibility of the crap hitting her. Given the force required to make such a toss, that prisoner is probably a random stand user. Now its possible I'm making a mountain out of a ant hill. I believe this issue needs addressing in the next hot takes.
My hot take: Normally I would never suggest skipping parts, but if I'm trying to introduce someone to JoJo's, and I know they're going to be upset/angered by the N*zi characters in Battle Tendency, I just tell them to skip to Stardust Crusaders. Most people who have actually read Part 2 know it isn't even slightly pro-N*zi - even Stroheim, the quote-unquote "good guy", kills an entire crowd of people (albeit offscreen) and that's never shown as a good or reasonable thing, and basically every other N*zi is just cannon fodder. Joseph and all the other major characters never seem on board with their ideology and the story never espouses it, not to mention how they're not even mentioned in the next entire seven parts that make up a majority of the series. I've seen some really bad takes about Stroheim and company across the internet (*cough*Mother's Basement*cough*) and people are mad that the entire part isn't just Joseph punching N*zis (even though he literally does do that - did everyone just forget the Donovan fight?) Yeah, Caesar is friends with Mark, who is a N*zi and is played somewhat sympathetically, and to be fair, that does make Caesar not look good, that said he was Italian at a time when Italy and N*zi Germany were allies, so it does at least make historical sense. And the main villains, the Pillar Men, not only committed g***cide on their own race, but were actively threatening to do much worse things to humanity when Stroheim joined the heroes. Unfortunately, Stroheim is incredibly cool. The N*zi stuff is also pretty hard to extricate from Battle Tendency and still have it be watchable - you'd miss the final battle, and the Santana fight has a lot of important lore for the rest of the story. So, if I know someone who'd probably like the N*zi free rest of the series but would foam at the mouth when they see Stroheim, I'd just tell them to skip Battle Tendency. And if they're skipping Battle Tendency, watching Phantom Blood isn't as essential, since a lot of the things Part 1 sets up (particularly the Hamon, the Stone Mask, and the baby Lisa Lisa stuff) are only really paid off in Part 2, not to mention it draws attention to the giant gaping hole in the series between Parts 1 and 3 I just told them to not look at. Starting with Stardust Crusaders definitely isn't as fun without the previous 2 parts, but if it can get people to not call my favorite series N*zi propaganda (which it obviously is not), it's a small price to pay.
I feel like George trying to reunite with Johnny would have been better if it wasn't right when Johnny was a front runner for the race and this about to win a lot of money. Kinda just makes me think of those stories/memes about family members returning after someone wins the lottery.
Hot Take: JoJo isn't that confusing, most fans just don't know how to read.

also like the explanation is that the mask presses acumputure points in the brain that activates it's latent potential, isn't it?
that's like, complete pseudo-science. if anything i think jojo making pseudo-scientific or surpsestitious ideas be acutally true in it's story ENHANCES it's supernatural mysteriousness.
That's the same BS as "Midi-chlorians suck because they take away the mysticism of the Force!"
Like...
@@TheAuthorStudios Plus that's from Part 1! It's not a new idea in Part 2!
"Coincidental bound by fate." Yeah. That's how fate works. Like. Conceptually.
you would never see anyone complain about this kind of thing for the previous parts. youd never see someone complain about the connections dio has to the villains in part 4, for example.
Breaking news: part 6 hater learns about fate
Media Literacy must be weird when you try to question fate.
Learning about the major theme of the story while reading the sixth (!) part and being angry that it's *suddenly* there is wild
Wasn't that the whole point of the "Stand users attract other Stand users" thing??
All I'm saying is that part 4 would've ended a lot sooner if Koichi used 3 Freeze on Kira's nuts
Whu
Why didn’t he do that? Is he stupid?
Agreed
Ok this time, even characters in universe cannot come up with this.
Araki forgot about balls
The utilitarian approach to watching anime vexes me too. I dont know why anyone would want to skip Josuke using Mikitaka to cheat at Rohan's game, its such a great episode.

Agreed people these days have no attention span
If people want a show that only has plot heavy episodes they should watch Hazbin Hotel, I broke my neck how fast it went by, and guess what? I couldn't care about any of the characters or just anything going on because of it
Yeah I don't get it a lot of the time.
I feel like people greatly undervalue moments/time to develop the characters outside the plot. It makes everything more fleshed out most of the time and is often crucial.
People definitely love part 3 and 7 more because it has smaller moments/fights in them.
"Yes, this is how fiction works" is the new "how refrigerators work" lmao, this community is the gift that keeps on giving.
And also... without the inciting incident the story wouldn't happen. It doesn't matter if you think it's contrived, if you don't want it to happen then you don't want the plot
the pink suit giorno matches much better with his hair and stand than the blue, plus its very recognizable
it's true. also, his shoes in the colored manga are green...it looks horrendious with the blue and red suit. the pink has blue buttons and blue shoes, contrasting greatly with giorno's green eyes and blonde hair
So many jojo protagonist have/had Blue as their primary color (Johnathan, Jotaro, Josuke, and Johnny) so changing Giorno to be a way more unique Pink is a huge improvement imo.
@@Magic_Ice I agree, I think it helps differentiate him as Dio's son for that reason
it also helps tie in with how Araki was going to make Giorno a woman with pink being a traditionally feminine color
@@Magic_IceWhat was Joseph
@@leithaziz2716 his strongest ability wasn't stopping time or punching really hard, it was Autism all along
@@leithaziz2716 That's... actually kind of canon? The little profile for Jotaro in some of the manga releases states that he doesn't usually emote bc he doesn't see a need to and thinks his feelings are obvious.
@leithaziz2716 He's truly our feisty nonverbal autistic queen and we love him for it
(Jokes aside, I've always been a big subscriber to this theory too, mostly cuz of those data entries that say he views emoting as useless and that his emotions should simply be obvious within the moment.
I love Diavolo too. His mental illness and his views on fate are the most interesting aspects of him by far.
Thematically and Stand-wise, sure. But in terms of personality and motive... black-dandruff boi is about as deep as a little kiddie pool -_- .
idk if this is a hot take but Part 6s ending not only isnt very complicated but its also very satisfying to that era of JoJo as a whole

My hot take is I hate the part 5 ending. Every time I rewatch part 5, I stop after Polnareff dies.
Speaking from experience, some people got burned really bad with fillers in the past. That said, yes I agree.
@@Mcl_Blue But its not filler, its part of the story.
@@shinyagumon7015 I know.
people care too much about the ending, the final boss, the legendary pokemon and etc, they get into jojo expecting that big Dio fight with time stopping and get frustrated when they actually have to watch the show to get to it
True
6:45 JoJo fans really want to take all of the personality out of JoJo. How would JoJo be any fun if it only had the "necessary" fights and none of the ones that add some personality to the world the series is set in?
It's a crazy mindset, depending on what's considered a "necessary" fight, there could easily be only what, like 15 in the whole anime?
i'm guessing its because there is an endless pit of anime to consume so some people want to minmax watching so they can join in on every discussion of popular anime
that said its a dogshit tactic. all it does is increase the amount of fans without comprehension skills who ask questions about things that were answered in the part they skipped lol

Hot Take: Part 01's adaptation could've been better if they kept some manga content in the story
true, I would've loved to see the prologue at the start of the manga
It feels like they deliberately did this so that most of the first season episode count would cover part 2. Kinda sucks though as they left out really interesting scenes.
I think it’s better without the sacrifice scene. It makes the mask more mysterious since we don’t explicitly see what its purpose is until Dio uses it on the guy in the street.
I agree. I grew to love part 1 so much, the anime adaptation was just rushed imo. Do you guys think it could've been stretched the same length of bt? Or nah?
how is that a hot take at all? lmao

@@HSE331I wouldn’t consider a lot of the part 3 fights to be high octane and action packed lol.
honestly thats a big problem with regular releases in general. i remember when people were reading jjk as the manga came out a lot of people (myself included) actually thought the shibuya arc was boring. after re reading and watching the anime all in one go i can safely say its one of my favorite arcs in any show ever.
Rohan is perfect for spinoffs since even in Part 4 it was his curiosity got him in trouble many times.
I LOVE Anasui, he’s such an interesting and funny character. That’s why he’s my favorite from part 6 :)
I honestly didn't like him very much until the fight against Made in Heaven when he really starts putting himself on the line for Jolyne's sake

I really like Anasui as being crucial to the plot, but in terms of solo character he falls flat so much.
Everybody has a connection to Pucci, and he just showed up and decided to join cause he just likes Jolyne.
I would have love to see Anasui deal with his own character arc and growing like all the other secondary characters (FF, Weather, Ermes and Emporio)
And Im still pissed off the fact they didnt keep Anasui as female like the original manga.
8:29 YES (but hot take: the black suit is even better than both)
It's not even an hot take, thats a fact
Hot Take: Diavolo is one of, if not the best villain in JoJo
For one, I think his character design is perfect and is kind of a microcosm of what JoJo is all about. It's weird, colourful and flamboyant, and Diavolo's design fits this perfectly. The fact that a man with long, pink polka-dotted hair, purple lipstick, a revealing feminine lace shirt and purple studded pants still manages to be one of the coolest and most intimidating villains is exactly what I'd expect from JoJo
Making Diavolo split personalities with Doppio was a genius decision.
Diavolo and Giorno are both examples of absolutely FANTASTIC characters in a narrative and thematic sense, but feeling kinda lame behaviorally
18:40
The problem is it just kinda happens out of nowhere, maybe a chapter actually all around Sandman slowly being corrupted would have made the reveal way more meaningful, like being told there is a bomb underneath the table instead of the table randomly exploding.

I think that Part 6 is the best JoJo part. (Manga and Anime)
The characters, the stand battles, the antagonists, art, etc, its all perfectly done.
TRRUUUUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE let's go eat some italian food is the best single episode of jojo's EASY it is so good
Stuff like that was why Part 4 is my favorite. I feel like the part also shows why I feel Jojo's works so well with the suspense/thriller and slight horror elements
plus with the constant 'evil' stand users around, its good to see stand users not of the main cast who arent evil for once.
If the main understanding of what happened is "oh thats the alternate universe him" then it simply doesnt work
This was my thought, exactly.
Not only that, but he was in the far lead of the race. It’s crazy that he gave up when he very well could have finished with a victory.
Speaking of Ed's, that guitar track at the end was real nice.

Hot take: Jojolion is easily the most underrated part of JoJo’s, and the only reasons why people dislike it are because:
1) It was very different to what came before
2) It was the follow-up to Steel Ball Run, which directly led to comparisons being made
3) The sheer amount of “araki forgots” generated by the poor reading comprehension exhibited by Jojo fans
In all honesty, Jojolion is one of my favorite parts of Jojo, and yes, while it might not be perfect, it still doesn’t deserve half the hate it receives.

The part 1 adaptation cuts out too much in general
I’m sick rn and i’ve been stuck in my dorm room all day. It was bad until this very moment. New Hamon Beat video, let’s gooooo!!!!!!

@@authorbat5562 I heard that, but that could be because of the shorter length (aka stopping at his arc), so they can expand more upon this part of the story.

This is truly a hot take lol. Part 6 I enjoyed more than near the end for said theme, but not overally

I have a hot take:
*Stands are not faster than light*
Most JoJo fans say that stands are faster than light. From what I noticed in several comments, the point to support this opinion are based on the scenes where Silver Chariot manages to land blows on Hanged Man(who actually moves faster than light), and that Silver Chariot reflected attacks coming from The Sun .
The point is that, honestly, both of these scenes are easily explainable:
1 - *Literally the point of the fight against Hanged Man is that Kakyoin and Polnareff were trying to discover some weakness about Hanged Man, some way to attack him. The scenes in which Silver Chariot manages to hit Hanged Man occur precisely because they discovered a weakness, a way to attack him, which would be by predicting his movements - It doesn't matter how fast he moves, as long as they already know his movement , his speed is useless. In other words, Polnareff only managed to hit Hanged Man with Silver Chariot because he already knew the trajectory that Hanged Man would take, and not necessarily because Silver Chariot is faster than light.*
2 - *The attacks that The Sun launched against the Crusaders were not moving at the speed of light. . .because, if they really were moving at the speed of light, all the Crusaders would die right there, and Polnareff would never be able to call the Silver Chariot to defend itself. Seriously, do people really believe that Polnareff is faster than light now or something ?*
There are many other points, scenes in the anime that simply put this 'faster than light' thing into discredit.
'Why didn't stands just use their full potential all of time? Is Jotaro stupid?' ahh comment
@ProfVibes
Bro. .
But, idk, maybe I'm just wrong But I've never seen any argument that supports the idea that stands are faster than light

my hot take about the ova is that it gave one of the best abridged series lines ever; "WHAT'S IT GOING TO BE D'ARBY???
Polnareff isn't the problem there.
your analysis of gyro was amazing
Hot Take: DIO getting a Stand was his own undoing
The manga for that was rough (especially when you read the physical black and white books) but the anime made it so much more entertaining
I like to call this the "explaining King Crimson in Part 5 if you only have the Manga panels to work with" problem.
Hot take: the cactus fight in part 2 is better then some part 3 fights

That part about Soundman was on point
“Jojo fans can’t be THAT dumb”.
Jojo fans: “You can skip to the end of Stone Ocean and not miss anything”.
Hot take Jobin is the best villain
my hot take is that the d'arby jotaro is genuinely the most entertaining (personally) fight in stardust crusaders
bit ironic considering it barely involves their stands
Part 6 is peak
I will die on that hill
I think it would be very interesting if you did videos covering what you believe the themes and the takeaway from each part, both because it could create places for some good discussion in the comment section and because I still see a lot of people treating Jojo's like it has very surface level writing with barely none, if any, deeper ideas behind the plot
I agree!
Hot Take: I prefer Joseph’s manga color scheme (purple) over his anime color scheme (green and brown).
