You can also use the poison mist incantation while the apostle is asleep- similarly to how it’s used to kill draconic tree sentinel early, it technically isn’t considered an attack by the AI, and thus you can stack it with rotbreath safely after landing your sleep pots, without waking up the boss. This also works if you want to kill the noble at Volcano Manor early for a +7 somber.

First, Smoughtown puts out a nearly 2 hour video about them and now Fishy comes out with a banger guide about one of the coolest swords in the game. I'm here for it. What an awesome build. The gs greatsword is such a great weapon, physical damage, fire damage, unique moveset, and massive burst damage plus percentage based burn damage on the weapon skill. I actually made a gs greatsword build a while back and it’s still probably one of my favorites (I may or may not have spent hours stubbornly fighting the apostle underleveled lol) Great video dude, keep up the good work.
Had a difficult time with Godskin boss, but eventually defeated him. Much harder than I thought it would be. Timing on the Godslayer greatsword is crucial (at least with my style of play). I'm at mid-game now and starting to see how powerful your buiild is. Thank you!
These are a fun watch, especially like how the deaths are left in there and quality is good too. Plenty of hints and tips and stuff to pick up on the way even if you aren’t following the guide and are muddling your way through like me!
Funny enough I did something similar for my Gloam-Eyed Queen setup. Step one. Spend hours replicating Melina's secret face! If you know, you know. Next, I made a bunch of sleep pots, rot breath, poison spray mist, and the Opaline Bubble Tear to prevent messing up. Since I was grabbing the Altus Tunnel somber bell baring anyway, I swung by and grabbed the black knife to get him to half health as fast as possible to make damn sure that sucker died while sleeping. As long as he's under 50% hp the rot WILL kill him before it expires. This was also when I learned sleep pots will cancel the half health transition that Godskins have. Toss one at fat boy to cancel his roller ball frenzy. It saves SO much headache.
I reckon this will be pretty fun to do low level invasions as, especially with the full armour set. I love how much variety there is in the early game if you know where to find stuff and how to cheese enemies.
For Greyoll you can use morning star with wild strikes aow, it's a little bit faster and much more convenient since you have to just hold one or two buttons, depends on platform. Also bleed works even if you haven't any mana
Other Alternatives include: Getting the flail from the gatefront ruins and the Bloodflame blade incantation (If your build is already going to have 12 Fth and 10 Arc). The Bloodboon incantation for a NG Plus run or cheated in.
Was about to comment that. It makes this way easier. You can use the same strat for Noble in Volcano manor and get the somber + 7 early to start the game with a +9 Godslayer Greatsword
@@freedmfe8934 I actually did not. I tried rotting and Poisoning him but i died and was down to only a couple sleep pots. Tried bleeding him but i was getting one shot when staying too close. So Reduvia Blood Blade was a good solution.
This has always been one of my favorite builds to steam-roll through the game with. It's nice to see that it's getting some attention. I run the black flame incantations off the Godslayer Seal. The Godslayer GS along with the Godskin Peeler and the black flame tornado ash of war as a backup for those bosses that are too quick for the GS. I have never had an issue with a boss using this build. It's high AR and great stagger damage when you need it for slower bosses and lighter, faster attacks for the more agile ones. It's amazing watching the health bar of the bosses melt away!
Hi! Great setup, the problem I see its that it takes too long to get the weapon, plus you need to do a lot of things and visit lots of places. For anyone trying to do a challenge run with this weapon (like no death or no hit or something like that) it just takes so much time if you have to repeat this every reset. You can more or less easily kill the Godskin in caelid with just 30 mins or so of setup. This is what I do in my no hit run challenge: Start samurai and cracked pots as gift. For smithing stones, I need 12 of level 1 and 2 of level 2. There's plenty of lvl 1 in limgrave and the merchant in weeping sells 2 smithing stones lvl 2. For buffs, I use the golden vow Ash of War, one exalted flesh, the strengh tear and the spiked tear, all in Limgrave. From weeping I pick the poison incantation. In my way to caelid,, I pick the sleep pot recipe and some lilys (there's enough in limgrave, you need 6 lilys). I buy some crack pots (start with 3, 3 more in kale, and there's two merchants that sell 1 each in limgrave and weeping) In limgrave I pick two gold-pickeld fowl foot, I use them in the cav in caelid and in Greyoll. With that runes (150k) I level faith to 12, streng to 25 and dex to 30 (I dont remember the exact numbers, maybe it was a bit more, i need to check when i have time) I pick the radagon soreseal. Lastly, I pick the blood greese recipe in the castle in limgrave (you only need one greese, so no need to pick a lot of flowers and resin to craft) So the fight against the godskin with an Uchigatana +4: Sleep him and poison while he is sleeping. Wait for the posion to do some damage. I wait till the damage is 500 (at 800 or so he will wake up). When its at 500, buff. First the medika, then golden vow, blood greese and flesh. Two handing the uchi, you have to: Do two R1s and use a sleep pot. When he starts to touch his head to go to sleep, go to one sie, do 4 more R1, wait and reposition yourself to stay at his side, do 3 R1 mores and then do a L2+R2. He will stagger. Riposte him and span another sleep pot. He will phase transition (so back up a little) and after the explosion, he will go to sleep. Repeat again, 8 R1s and a L2+R2. He will stagger again, riposte and he should be dead. As far as I know, this is the fastest way to fight him in a scripted way without really having to fight him. It's really fast, you can kill him at the 30 min mark and you only visit limgrave and caelid. I don't know if everything is clear, or if it's maybe too late to post this, but well, if any doubts, anyone feel free to ask.
Pro tip for divine tower. Once you reach the platfoythat looks like a lamp. Turn around. Drop to the very next one. Then turn back towards the lamp and look down. You can safely drop to the ledge below. Then walk around the corner. Position yourself with the platform. Use a soft cotton to reduce fall DMG and drop down. You will take no DMG and skip directly to the elevator to the boss room

If you wanna do less farming you can go straight to apostle with an unupgraded finger seal and rot breath. Just stand behind the pillar to the left and he will get into a loop. You can just shoot rot breath from there :D Did it yesterday so it still works.

No matter how many builds I try (i have 3 characters all RL 150) using the larval tears, I always save 1 tear so I can go back to a Godslayer GS build. That weapon, the art, the damage just rules.
Getting that godskin apostle down with your method is inventive, but relies on a bit of luck. I'm glad I had a save game, because he kept dodging my pots one after another and on other occasions. Rot breath failed to apply the rot tick. Kinda stuck on the guy right now.
I would love to see a Nagakiba build! Just to see how you would get it early (killing Yura or completing his questline through altus) and what kind of stat/AOW war setup you would use. Love the content you continue to put out!

If anyone messed up and used all of the sleep pots cuz they suck like me for the apostle you can run to the left and hide behind the pillar once you enter the boss arena and spam rot it’s extremely easy

What a well made video 👏 watched it a few times now and it helped me alot of with my godslayer build. As a level 55 with pretty bad vigor 👀 the apostle was annoyingly hard but I managed to eventually beat him by switching to a bleed build with the godkskin peeler and blood blade. Wanted to earn the weapon instead of cheesing the boss 😅 Also "chill out with the pots" gets me everytime 🤣🤣
I haven't touched the game since I finished it, still I can't help myself but watch your videos from start to finish, even though I know I won't be playing it again until the DLC drops
I've done basically the same build but farmed Black Flame Monk armor set since I think it looks cooler. I give it a 7/10. Not my fav colossal weapon or weapon art but it was cool role play.
Your set-ups make new play throughs so much better. I honestly have way more fun expanding on your fantastic set up vid to get g'd up, compared to making the builds lol... As an avid Skyrim player, I love the ability to get set up early in this game You got a new subscriber
You can get the GSGS easily: stay behind the pillar on the left and use Rotten Breath. You just need some flasks to cast the incantation again and again.
Don't know if you'll see this but to grab the somber at mohgs a little more safe, you can aggro the enemy then jump on a grave to the left onto the platform so you don't aggro the frogs
In NG the Godslayer’s Greatsword absolutely crushes everything. This weapon deletes bosses. I tried many weapons, but the GSGS is definitely my favorite. :)
Helluva algorithm... I just started this run earlier this week... The setup was a satisfying progression. I used +6 Zweihander as a precursor to GSGS to kill the npc to get the Antspur rapier, and used that with poison armament against the Apostle. This was much harder, having to actually "fight" the apostle. Had to give up on that as getting the 2nd or 3rd rot proc was too involved. I went with the sleep-Rot breath strategy after using the rapier to 50%. You totally dont need to level the dragon seal. Also, as a bit of optimization, starting confessor and getting marikas scarseal from siofra means you can get the 12 arc requirement for rot breath without putting points. Put Apostle to sleep, switch the talisman on, breath etc. Can't wait to see the rest of the video, everything was smooth sailing for me until Maliketh which is horrible...
I found that perhaps the best playstyle for Godslayer is just repeated regular attack + consecutive attack buffs. It can trigger the buff in just 2 hits, has decent range, and hit very fast for a collosal sword. What's more, put Godslayer in your left hand, and a dagger with "endure" in right hand, repeat endure -> 2 swings -> endure gives you non-stop hyperarmor and damage negation. The dagger can also be used for crits as it's easy to break enemy stance with collosal weapons. Imo this setup is a LOT more user friendly than charged heavies or weapon arts.
im pretty sure rot breath rot buildup doesn't scale to arcane, this would probably work with an unupgraded seal. you would lose a fair bit of direct breath damage, but its the rot that really does the work
It was harder than the video looked. It took 3 (100FP) applications of rot from point blank in his back, but it did the job. Also added poison based on comments suggestions.

What a well made video 👏 watched it a few times now and it helped me alot of with my godslayer build. As a level 55 with pretty bad vigor 👀 the apostle was annoyingly hard but I managed to eventually beat him by switching to a bleed build with the godkskin peeler and blood blade. Wanted to earn the weapon instead of cheesing the boss 😅 Also "chill out with the pots" gets me everytime 🤣🤣

I've done basically the same build but farmed Black Flame Monk armor set since I think it looks cooler. I give it a 7/10. Not my fav colossal weapon or weapon art but it was cool role play.
Your set-ups make new play throughs so much better. I honestly have way more fun expanding on your fantastic set up vid to get g'd up, compared to making the builds lol... As an avid Skyrim player, I love the ability to get set up early in this game

You can get the GSGS easily: stay behind the pillar on the left and use Rotten Breath. You just need some flasks to cast the incantation again and again.

Don't know if you'll see this but to grab the somber at mohgs a little more safe, you can aggro the enemy then jump on a grave to the left onto the platform so you don't aggro the frogs
Just stopped to say that while it may not be the best, the Godslayer Greatsword is my favorite in the game.
Blackflame in general is so cinematic and overall cool
In NG the Godslayer’s Greatsword absolutely crushes everything. This weapon deletes bosses. I tried many weapons, but the GSGS is definitely my favorite. :)

Helluva algorithm... I just started this run earlier this week... The setup was a satisfying progression.
I used +6 Zweihander as a precursor to GSGS to kill the npc to get the Antspur rapier, and used that with poison armament against the Apostle. This was much harder, having to actually "fight" the apostle. Had to give up on that as getting the 2nd or 3rd rot proc was too involved.
I went with the sleep-Rot breath strategy after using the rapier to 50%. You totally dont need to level the dragon seal.
Also, as a bit of optimization, starting confessor and getting marikas scarseal from siofra means you can get the 12 arc requirement for rot breath without putting points. Put Apostle to sleep, switch the talisman on, breath etc.
Can't wait to see the rest of the video, everything was smooth sailing for me until Maliketh which is horrible...

I found that perhaps the best playstyle for Godslayer is just repeated regular attack + consecutive attack buffs. It can trigger the buff in just 2 hits, has decent range, and hit very fast for a collosal sword.
What's more, put Godslayer in your left hand, and a dagger with "endure" in right hand, repeat endure -> 2 swings -> endure gives you non-stop hyperarmor and damage negation. The dagger can also be used for crits as it's easy to break enemy stance with collosal weapons.
Imo this setup is a LOT more user friendly than charged heavies or weapon arts.

You can also use rotten breath from behind the pillar on the left side of the fog gate and then sleep him. He can’t attack you from there.
im pretty sure rot breath rot buildup doesn't scale to arcane, this would probably work with an unupgraded seal. you would lose a fair bit of direct breath damage, but its the rot that really does the work

It was harder than the video looked. It took 3 (100FP) applications of rot from point blank in his back, but it did the job. Also added poison based on comments suggestions.
