I just wish we could have more cosmetic options for the items we wear. That hood would be perfect with an ornate silver mask. If only we could change our clothing colours too. The godslayer looks so powerful that he might be able to stop the outbreak in the Plague Tale games.
I totally agree, it would be amazing to have more cosmetic options for items and clothing in Elden Ring similar to Hogwarts Legacy or World of Warcraft. One question, why the Nightrider's Glaive for Flame Art Black Flame Tornado? Does having 30 STR 60 DEX 50 FTH to maximize Godslayer's Greatsword run counter to it?
Great guide! The Apostle took me about 6 tries, but the corner still works. I noticed on his little walks that if he dodged to your right for some odd reason then he’ll get behind the column. Happened to me twice but I think that’s just the RNG on moving that he managed to do that. Another time he also decided to melee swing right next to it which also hit. All around great guide and easy to follow! Showing the mini map with the paths highlighted in red with a start and finish helped tremendously! Looking forward to watching more of your videos!
Thank you so much, Quentin. I found that walking into that corner when he is getting too close forces him back. Anyway, I'm glad you found this guide helpful. Slay all the gods my friend. 😄
THE BEST guide for black flame build I've found over days of searching! Instantly earned a sub! I will definitely come back for more Elden Ring content.
I've been doing the blackflame godslayer build since I first played back in patch 1.07 something. I'm glad to discover your build is about the same as mine.😁
Very cool guide, with detailed description of routes and locations in a clear unparalleled way. Can't wait to try It myself, i only Wish i knew of this video before starting a godskin cosplayer run with the Prophet classe
I'm dying for that dlc brother. I tried Lords of the Fallen recently, It's so much behind even Dark Souls 3. Well, thank you so much for watching I hope you enjoy it ❤
I’m glad they got the fix done, 1.09.1 has fixed the issues with golden vow and incantations. This guide is fantastic, very well thought out and informative thank you lol I may try to incorporate destined death with the incantation or dagger to add more dps over time if it stacks with black flame 😂.
Thank you, Chris, for letting me know. Although I was planning to update the guide yesterday, I have been caught up in holiday activities. Nonetheless, I will make sure to include the hotfix 1.09.1 in my guide and update it accordingly.
For 5:15, you can get Red-hot at the start of the game, just go straight to Radhan castle, and the door will be open, the castle changes when you progress trough the game, so if you just go there at the start it will be open. Then just go to Vulcano Manor through Iron Maiden at bottom of the academy, once you there, just jump to the other side, right at the start, if you miss you will just respawn at the same place, so it is easy, then just go for the first Skin boss, from there you can leave volcano and go straight to the second skin boss at the village. You can even go for the third skin boss at Cailed if you wan to, all from the start without killing any major bosses
Something cool is im a huge souls fan and I've been naming my character Godslayer since DS2. You can imagine my elation when i saw they added a whole set in Elden Ring.
If you want to skip the volvano manor part of the setup to get the albunoric mask, you can use ~6 blue flasks at 14 mind and use black flame instead of rotten breath. Just hide behind the pillar like the guide says. I think this is more thematic and it skips a good hour of setup.
I visited Volcano Manor to acquire the Albinauric Mask for the +4 arcane bonus. However, you can alternatively level up your arcane to use Rotten Breath, retrain the character, or follow your suggestion of using Black Flame. Nonetheless, my original plan was to have the majority of the build prepared before entering Stormveil Castle. Thank you so much for watching and for the suggestion.
Killing that godskin apostle took me freaking hours, and when I finally killed him and got the sword I found it sucked! Too slow 😢 may give it another bash in my second playthrough And after watching this sick vid I'm so up for giving it a bash 👍
I started following this guide to get the items. I have not gotten them all or upgraded weapons to the max, but close to max. It may deal pretty good damage against certain enemies when it is done, but I just fought Magma wyrm and it was way too hard to kill compared to my basic strength build I had earlier. I have finished the game and looting stuff before I stop playing. I have completely destroyed everything, but now when I changed to this, it feels somewhat challenging again even though I should be over leveled everywhere. I will still finish this build and see how it works when it is done. Nice to try other stuff too in this game. I go with strength or dexterity build always, because these spells feel kind of weak compared to all the hassle it takes. It feels nice to kill large groups with black flame though and I like the looks of this sword and how it looks with this armor. That's actually why I started to look for build, which uses that weapon. If the weapon's name is godslayer and it looks like that, how can you not to?
This is exactly the build I have been running for this playthrough, I would like to see someone incorporate the Black Knife into this build instead of the Black Flame Tornado for a ranged option, Queens Black Flame hits like a truck
Hey Kimo I've been following your build videos for a while now and I have very much enjoyed them. I would like to point out that scouring black flame can potentially be one of the highest damage dealing spells in the entire game if you learn to free aim it. It often hits twice if you free aim the incantation which can result in some insane damage numbers relative to fp cost. Not to mention the DOT effect on top of that.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and support my videos. I appreciate your feedback. I've attempted free aiming Scorching Black Flame a few times, but it can be challenging to get the right angle and altitude. I've found that sometimes it misses smaller enemies entirely. However, it does deal more damage than regular Black Flame, so it's worth practicing. Thank you again for your input, and I'll be sure to practice this spell more on my next NG+ playthrough with my Godslayer.
@@KimoChaser You’re Welcome and yes I would suggest getting more used to the trajectory of the spell. Btw loved your recent night sorcery build I recently completed my own pure sorcery build and I gotta say that sorceries are so much fun in this game. Also I would love to see an updated version of your previous dragon communion build as I just finished my one recently. Would love to see an all game build guide and see what paths you take and how they differ from the path I took. Best of luck with all your future content!
Actually, I'm going to make a small guide just for this apostle but for now, every time he is getting too close, start running into the corner of the pillar. That will force him to back off.
I hate elden ring drop rates man, I started at base level for confessor and im now at level 63 while only killing that black flame monk and im still missing the gauntlets lol
I hopped on this build for NG+ after finishing the game for the first time as a Faith/STR build. I'm about half way through NG+ and switched over to a Dual Great Stars build and played around with it for a few hours before coming back to this. It's just too good. I'm around RL 200 and took on Radahn. Dropped him in phase one. He had no time to fly away. Two Queen's Black Flames melted his health. Commander Niall got as far as summoning his spirits and then fell to the ground. His health bar disappeared faster than sugar in warm water. My only complaint, (which has no bearing on Kimo's build at all!) is the Black Flame Tornado skill has no hyper armor/poise unlike Queen's Black Flame. I honestly would use the Godskin Stitcher more if I could get the Ash of War to go without being interrupted by the enemy.
Cheese with GSA still works in 1.09.1. For me, he would approach, hit the column with 2-3 black fireballs and then retreat, in which I hit him with Rotten Breath. Near the end it took 3 hits to proc scarlet rot, but the overall damage of the attack whittled his health significantly. Overall took me 4 tries to figure it out. The cheese is still there, it's just tricker now to figure out when to hit him with rotten breath.
Following your guide in my first playthrough ever. I've put over 40 hours in the game and just reached Nokron :) I also didn't go ham upgrading the godslayer, currently at +6 because I do want to learn the game :D Thanks for the detailed guide, I love the build!
You can expect to have about four talisman slots even if you haven't defeated Morgott yet. I recommend using Radagon's Soreseal, Fire Scorpion Charm, Flock's Canvas Talisman, and Godfrey Icon. If you need help finding this information in my video, I have included a timestamp at 9:45.
If i don't mind dropping the black flame incantations, I feel like the Black Blade spell and Black Knife are pretty good ranged options to the Godslayer, no?
That is actually a very interesting combo worth its own build. However, both spells deal holy damage and not fire damage like I'm focusing on in this build but you can make minor adjustments like replacing the Fire Scorpion Charm and using Holy tear in the wondrous flask..etc.
@@KimoChaser Yeah its definitely a NG+ build, considering the high investment on both dex and faith, but looks promising nonetheless due to the synergies in stats and lore. Godslaying black flame and destined death just fits well aesthetically.
Hi Kimo, I gave milicent the arm AFTER killing the apostle, then i rested and she was there, but she was friendly and said she would aid me in battle. Did i screw up the quest line? Please would love some help on this one.
You have done everything correctly, my friend. Start slashing lol. After a few attacks, she will become hostile and will lock you out of her quest progression. However, as I mentioned in your next playthrough you can complete her entire quest chain and obtain Rotten Winged Sword Insignia. You can only have one or the other per playthrough.
Hi, how does the information you provided stack up to the latest version of the game. That being 1.13 as I'm writing this comment. I saw a comment about the Apostle now acting how he does in the video, but you replied to use sleeping pots as an alternative, which is helpful. Is there anything else that may need to be changed in terms of strategy? Cheers.
Kimo, thank you so much for your guides. You're awesome. A question please. What do you recommend more - This Godslayer build, or the Bloodfire Ronin build you've uploaded lately? I'm about to rebirth at Renella and almost done the Godslayer progress to use this build. Thank you :)
Hey there, thank you so much for your kind words and support! Both the Godslayer and Bloodfire Ronin builds have their own unique playstyles and strengths. The Godslayer build focuses on devastating spellcasting with high Faith. On the other hand, the Bloodfire Ronin build is a dexterity-based build that excels in close-quarters combat with weapons like the Nagakiba and Uchigatana, dealing bleed damage and utilizing ashes of war like Double Slash and Storm Blade. Ultimately, the choice between the two builds depends on your preferred playstyle. If you enjoy the versatility of spellcasting and obliterating enemies with devastating incantations, the Godslayer build might be the way to go. However, if you prefer swift and precise melee combat with the added bonus of bleed damage, the Bloodfire Ronin build will suit you well. I hope this helps you make a decision that aligns with your playstyle and preferences. Good luck with your rebirth and enjoy your adventures in Elden Ring!
@@KimoChaser Thanks for your kind answer. I will add that this is my first run in Elden Ring and my first souls game. Would it effect the answer now to choose between these builds?
@@yarinsos For your first run in Elden Ring, I would recommend leaning towards either the Godslayer or Shadow Mage build. As someone who loves spellcasting in Elden Ring, I find that playing as a mage can provide a smoother experience and potentially make your journey more manageable, particularly if you're new to the series. Spellcasting allows for ranged attacks and versatile strategies, giving you the opportunity to approach encounters from a safer distance. Whichever build you choose, I'm confident that you'll have a fantastic experience delving into the world of Elden Ring. Enjoy your first playthrough and may your journey be filled with thrilling battles and captivating discoveries!
cant get the godslayers greatsword as he doesnt react the way as in the video, he starts by throwing fireballs but then does a jumping attack that goes thru the pillar and 1 shots me or he circles around the pillar and i have to drag him back so i can try again, musta tried at least 10 times and only once did he do that walking back bit but never again :( is there an alternate weapon i could use or is this crucial to the build?
I just jumped into the game to test the Godskin Apostle, and surprisingly, you are correct. He no longer backs off when you hide behind the pillar. However, you can still use sleep pots to put him to sleep while inflicting him with poison and scarlet rot. You can use some of the information in the following video. ruclips.net/video/lzhNAGzzSqM/видео.html
what is the difference between the Golden Vow ash of war which costs 40 FP to cast and reads identical to the incantation that costs 47 FP? is it just to keep loadout weight down by not needing an additional weapon? main reason im asking is cos up until this point in the video i still dont have an actual build and have been getting by with Sacred Blade on a Lordsworn Straight Sword, block counters and the odd Flame Sling that i picked up for a range option but Anastasia just rips me to shreds even if i didnt have those dogs to contend with as well
Golden Vow (the incantation) is considered one of the best buffs in Elden Ring. It boosts your damage by 15% and all damage negation by 10% for 80 seconds. If you're running a Faith build like this one or have enough Faith to use it (requires 25), it's definitely worth it. Golden Vow (Ash of War) is a slightly weaker buff, lasting only 45 seconds. It's mainly used when you can't afford to reach 25 Faith. For instance, if you're running a mage build, you can use the Ash of War on a small weapon (for weight) and still benefit from the increased damage and damage negation. I hope that answered your question. Let me know if there's anything else I can help you with.
It is certainly an interesting weapon. I'm currently working on something but hopefully, I will make a build around the Dragonscale blade in the near future. Thanks so much for watching my friend.
Great guide. I forgot to kill MIllicent at the Windmill village, does that mean I have to progress the story till I get to the Mountaintop of the Giants for another chance to kill her? Do I need to kill Millicent before Gowry?
Yes, you do need to kill Millicent before Gowry to obtain Flocks Canvas Talisman early. However, if you skipped that part (killing Millicent after Godskin Apostle at the Windmill village), then complete Millicent's questline in Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree, and after that kill Father Gowry in his Shack. eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Millicent

I love when I watch these videos and I think to myself these guys are playing a different game. The bosses appear to stand still and allow you to take all the time in the world to do the long wind up attacks and you never take damage.
Absolutely, I can understand how it might seem that way sometimes. Elden Ring has a diverse player base, and there are those who've honed their skills to an impressive level. As for me, I'll be honest - those seamless boss encounters you see often take a few attempts to capture just right. It's all part of the process, and I'm always striving to highlight the best moments. Thanks a lot for watching and sharing your thoughts!
Honestly cool video but to be honest I had a bit of a dumb dumb moment as I killed Millicwnt after giving her the prothesis and not after taking down the apostle, which was then later in the video, maybe it was just me but I got confused as you just said if you kill her now you will be unable to complete her quest. Without saying don't do it you should kill her after defeating the apostle. As I said maybe it is just me but other than the little incident caused by my brain the video is really cool and amazing.
Are you sure you didn't install a mod that randomize the items drop in your own game. You mentioned before the Double Slash Ash of War wasn't where it was suppose to be, what else is misplaced?
@@KimoChaser the pickled foot by the beach and smithing stone next to the group of people i stopped at the pickled foot because it js got annoying that none of the things were there, and no i didnt download any mods on my thing i dont know how to and its js weird
Personally, I'm leaning towards the Godslayer's Greatsword. Sure, the Godskin Peeler paired with Flame Tornado AoW might technically do more damage because of its Faith scaling, but it's way too easy to disrupt and offers no hyper armor. On the other hand, the Godslayer's Greatsword is rock-solid and reliable. But, gotta admit, its weapon skill, Queen's Blackflame, is a bit slow, and you might end up taking hits trying to land it. My advice? Give both a shot and go with whichever feels right for you.
For anyone having an issue defeating the Godskin Apostle in the Divine Tower in Caelid, I created a small video with clear instructions on how to defeat him.

@@KimoChaser glad to help, ya with holidays it’s hard to keep up with things we just finished Songkran here in Thailand fun times.
Very cool. I think the apostles are very cool
You can even go for the third skin boss at Cailed if you wan to, all from the start without killing any major bosses
thx for guide bud, nice job.
عشت يا كيمو ❤️
Something cool is im a huge souls fan and I've been naming my character Godslayer since DS2. You can imagine my elation when i saw they added a whole set in Elden Ring.
THX. Great guide :)
Thank you, Filip. ❤
Too slow 😢 may give it another bash in my second playthrough
And after watching this sick vid I'm so up for giving it a bash 👍
This intro was fucking fire bro
This is exactly the build I have been running for this playthrough, I would like to see someone incorporate the Black Knife into this build instead of the Black Flame Tornado for a ranged option, Queens Black Flame hits like a truck
I think I'll make a separate build for Black Knife.
@@KimoChaser It's very underrated but also just fits in thematically really well with the Godslayer builds
Thank you nice Video
Thanks for the guide. I just bought the game and this one looks the most fun. I'm curious as to how it performs in the DLC
I haven't used it in the DLC yet but I'm certainly planning to.
Hey man! I move behind the pillar but the apostle attack me in melee😢do you have tips ?
I've put over 40 hours in the game and just reached Nokron :) I also didn't go ham upgrading the godslayer, currently at +6 because I do want to learn the game :D
Thanks for the detailed guide, I love the build!
So if I'm paying attention for this build it's best to start of as the Confessor class right? Also love the video keep up the great work
Yes, the best starter class for this build is the Confessor. Thank you for watching.
This video slaps but boys when he says to kill Millicent before the godskin fight, don’t, wait until afterwards and kill her in the village!!!
Tried this build and it's very good. Only difference is I use Great-Jar's Arsenal so I can equip Great Helm and LARP as a Cathedral Knight lol.
What Talismans would you recommend for someone at Level 100 not past Morgott in Leyndell yet?
You can expect to have about four talisman slots even if you haven't defeated Morgott yet. I recommend using Radagon's Soreseal, Fire Scorpion Charm, Flock's Canvas Talisman, and Godfrey Icon. If you need help finding this information in my video, I have included a timestamp at 9:45.
@@KimoChaser Perfect! That’s exactly what I’m using at the moment. What would you recommend for Level 125?
@@KimoChaser ahhh thank you! Kimbo thank you. I’m loving all your guides. I’ve looked through so many, and you’re the BEST Elden Ring guide maker!
@@Enviously That is very kind of you. Thank you so much for watching and those kind words. Happy Gaming. ❤
@@KimoChaser I killed gowry and he turned into a bug and disappeared, I thought killing him would drop the amulet.
@@Enviously Are you sure? Try to quit the game and re-run after killing him.
thanks
Hi, how does the information you provided stack up to the latest version of the game. That being 1.13 as I'm writing this comment. I saw a comment about the Apostle now acting how he does in the video, but you replied to use sleeping pots as an alternative, which is helpful. Is there anything else that may need to be changed in terms of strategy? Cheers.
I don't understand that Millicent, I didn't see it above with the godskin apostle for the prosthesis.😩
I think that it won't be there later either.😪
can you play this build throughout the whole game? or does it become weak in the lategame?
It actually becomes better late-game and NG+. You really should try it.
It would be epic to have a death flame mage with death pocket and his encantations
@@KimoChaser cheers this answered it perfectly
How do you use rotten breath without having enough arcane stats?
18:55
I made a quick stop at Volcano Manor to grab the Albinauric Mask, which adds +4 to arcane.
Could you do a build for the Dragonscale blade. Its so cool and needs love like the godslayer
It is certainly an interesting weapon. I'm currently working on something but hopefully, I will make a build around the Dragonscale blade in the near future. Thanks so much for watching my friend.
@@KimoChaser I look forward to seeing it. Loved the GodSlayer build and I know I'll love the DragonScale one!
How can i equip that knife on the godskin peeler?
Any issues with the boss before the greatsword where he doesn’t walk back?
The Vagabond actually has the most optimal stats for this build, at least with the stats you choose at the end.
Hi, i'm jsut taking 5' to comment on your vid...your jobs is amazing, it was my first ER game... I followd both your godslayer and your OP start guide, and Now it's pretty fun and amazing to paly as a godslayer monk. I tooks me a loooooooot of time howver to do all these steps, ans i stopped after getting the sword to play the story a bit... your video and your amout of work are realy amazing.. however, sometimes your editing is a bit agressive... it's complicated to understand were you go....The worst part is clearly the Caelid tower where you totally ignore How to go in the Tower... and clearly... when you are fresh L30, it's reeeAAALY challenging to be able to go up the down into the APostle... ^^. Anyway, thank you realy for your amazing job.. Nice job dude

You can of course complete their questlines and you will end up with these talismans. But I showed the fastest way to get them.
while fighting godskin apostle in divine tower i still get hit behind the pillar by his melee attack i cant defeat him

is the hyperarmor from the queens blackflame ash of war gone? even a pebble can knock me off when i try to do it
You can get flame whetblade before fighting radahn
I love when I watch these videos and I think to myself these guys are playing a different game. The bosses appear to stand still and allow you to take all the time in the world to do the long wind up attacks and you never take damage.
Absolutely, I can understand how it might seem that way sometimes. Elden Ring has a diverse player base, and there are those who've honed their skills to an impressive level. As for me, I'll be honest - those seamless boss encounters you see often take a few attempts to capture just right. It's all part of the process, and I'm always striving to highlight the best moments. Thanks a lot for watching and sharing your thoughts!
@@KimoChaser i cant get the godslayers greatsword he always hits me through the pillar or completely just ignores stuns
how were you getting the scarlet rot to proc on the first cast
I will create another small guide just for this particular boss. People seem to have trouble with this particular method.
Just updating, apostale glitch isn’t guaranteed now, sometimes he just walks around it
Honestly cool video but to be honest I had a bit of a dumb dumb moment as I killed Millicwnt after giving her the prothesis and not after taking down the apostle, which was then later in the video, maybe it was just me but I got confused as you just said if you kill her now you will be unable to complete her quest. Without saying don't do it you should kill her after defeating the apostle. As I said maybe it is just me but other than the little incident caused by my brain the video is really cool and amazing.
im following your guide and like some of the items that you got arent there for me no more and its like other random stuff
Are you sure you didn't install a mod that randomize the items drop in your own game. You mentioned before the Double Slash Ash of War wasn't where it was suppose to be, what else is misplaced?

After killing the godskin, millicent didn't appear, I did it exactly as shown in the video, what happened?
Is this build still good in the current update?
Absolutely, all footage is taken from patch 1.09.
overall is godslayer's greatword bettor or godskin peeler?
Personally, I'm leaning towards the Godslayer's Greatsword. Sure, the Godskin Peeler paired with Flame Tornado AoW might technically do more damage because of its Faith scaling, but it's way too easy to disrupt and offers no hyper armor. On the other hand, the Godslayer's Greatsword is rock-solid and reliable. But, gotta admit, its weapon skill, Queen's Blackflame, is a bit slow, and you might end up taking hits trying to land it. My advice? Give both a shot and go with whichever feels right for you.
Funny, I just uploaded a video showing how to obtain the Godslayer's Greatsword without leveling. It should go live in a few hours. 😄
A return to the classic, eh?))
I'm trying new style for my videos. I hope you liked it. 😄
