I cannot stress this enough: For the cost of fully upgrading the Erdtree Seal (1000 runes ish), you could also use Ancient Dragon Lightning Strike, Burn O Flame, Pest Threads, Dragonmaw, Catch Flame etc. with this build! You could honestly script kill every boss in the game half a dozen different ways. Its insane! Hope you enjoy the vid!

Have you thought of making a “Legendary” build guide series where it’s the same idea of theses op starter class builds but you try to optimize the legendary armaments you (that I remember) already have three down the Sword of N&F, Bolt of Gransax, and The Moonlight great sword builds so maybe if you end up really enjoying this series you could do something similar PS: if you do do this could you do the executioner’s sword please it’s not my favorite weapon but does look cool

I have 40 vig, 11 mind, 27 end, 29 str, 40 dex, 10 int, 8 faith, 8 arc. And I still have trouble fighting any boss
@WinstonR16 youd be better off taking 10 levels each off dex and str and pumping vigor to 60.

@@ThingfishyGaming Not only is it generally better but you could change from Flame Art against the highly fire resistant bosses if you wanted to optimize further (not really your thing I know). A flexibility that you just don't get with Rivers or Moonveil. Love that you managed to include the cheeky "difficult" comment when facing Loretta while far more powerful than usual. It's an old joke but you've perfected the delivery. Same delivery style that made the playful intro work so well.

@@mprp2348 depends on the boss I think. You have to balance better scaling versus boss resistances. Certainly better bleed would be an option sometimes. Lightning others or even no element with (say) Electrify Armament.

Just wanted to post to say thanks. Ive been working with the build for two days, and i love it. Never used Faith boosts, and never tried really getting into the parry (ive been spoiled from Ds1/ds3 parrys). I took advice from another of your videos and found a medium shield and put Carian Retaliation on it. This has been such a fun build. Thank you for what you do! ♥️🤟♥️

do you know what talismans he used throughout the run? im just starting my playthrough with the guide and im kind of confused on what to get
@@Bitzfall_ I was similarly confused but I believe it's: Fire Scorpion Charm, Radagon's Soreseal, Warrior Jar Shard, and Ritual Sword Talisman. I'm not 100% on Radagon's, but I'm pretty sure that's what he's using after going through the guide a few times.
@@Cornan1980 you're correct, this is one of the talismans you can actually see in the status effects bar at the top and that's also why he can wield the nagakiba

So i started my attempt at this build. 30 mins in and ive come to the horrendous realisation that i dont know Redmane castle at all. Been bodied for a while now 😂
Fantastic video as always
Getting into Redmane is best accomplished by "avoiding" the bridge entirely - simply take the "waygate" at the top of Ft. Gael - (don't mess w/ the lion Guardian there and as the 3 guards up top cannot tite-rope the beam, can't climb a ladder and generally end up down w/ the Lion - when harassed using the longbow - getting the Starscourge Heirloom Tali and up to the way-gate are child's play).
After the way-gate, head S to the clift skirt the edge E to the back corner, around the back of the bldg, and back W on the N-side of bldg, avoiding all but 1 of lower tier soliders - hop on Torrent and hop up a level where you'll have 4 more soldiers to take out - then hop on Torrent again up toward the front gate and jump over to the bldg ya skirted (4 the smithing stone 6) - only 1 catapult guy, 4 bats - a hop on Torrent across the gap and one can sneak up the ladder - "avoid" trying the jump-on the boxes as shown above (they always break for me on the PS console versions of ER) - just sneak past the first 2 soldiers after the ladder and juke around the 3rd down by the camp-fire after the long walkway hopping down and it's a safe drop - then con the rest behind the flame throwers into doing what he showed to get to the SOG. DO NOT rest, but do practice your "QUIT GAME" out controls "Before" heading to get the RHW as you'll need to be quick after snagging the Red Hot Whetblade (much harder on consoles and the soldier's positioning in there is not always optimal).
note - I'm guessing in order to avoid spoilers mr thingy left all the tough stuff out.......

I am loving the “use the basic sword plus an infusion” to destroy things approach. It’s cool and satisfying on some level to run for an OP weapon, but an uchi faith build feels *chef’s kiss*
The Uchigatana is no "basic sword" though. That thing has been OP since 2009 in Demon's Souls and always been a staple in the "find it early and it'll carry you through the entire game" kind of weapon group for Souls games.

Right?!? I was actually going to comment on the sophistication and "power" of the intro. Thingfishy has been one of my favorite channels for ER since the get-go - still so much fun to watch someone with this level of skill just cruise through the game; I've learned a lot and really appreciate the dedication and continuous improvements in scripting and videography (I guess I should make that a primary post ;-)

❤ Thank you bud! I just tried this built with my level 200 character. I am so used to my high Arc high Dex built. Never thought one could built a Dex weapon with Faith & Flame infusion, and cause it to obliterate most everything in the game! I have watched so many videos on built but this is something else! Thank you for sharing! I am a fan right away!!!

I imagine a Genichiro inspired build would also be fun. Katana, lightning incantations, blackflame blade to mimic the Black Mortal Blade, whichever bow looks the closest to his also used occasionally.
Uchigatana is my favorite weapon in the series.. beat my first ever souls run in ds3 with it and always use it for my first playthrough of any souls game.. such an awesome weapon :)

Yeah, I'm making this build, but I'm getting more dexterity and arcane to get the rivers of blood katana, and also, I'm going to get the blood hound step to suit my playstyle
Using a variant of this build using the Nagakiba in my right hand with unsheathe and the Uchi in my left with either Flaming Strike because I think its neat for this build, or Double Slash to proc blood and trigger Rotten Wing Sword Talisman's damage buff. with flame grant me strength, burn o' flame, and flame sling on a finger seal, also in my left, this is easily my favorite build that I've utilized, I was able to stagger-lock Malenia and beat her in one go. I will most definitely be taking this character into SoTE.

I am only early game after following your early stones and seeds guide………..with the uchi at +17 faith at 25 and vigor at 30 (rest are stock samurai stats) this build has been One shoting the cave bosses of limgrave! Can’t wait to progress further and add lighting spells!

Okay, so I watched your video and decided to give the build a whirl. I was playing a Crucible Knight build with all the crucible sorceries and weapons. For all intents and purposes I was Crucible Knight Ordovis except when I fought a few bosses as Siluria with her amazing omega drill. All I had left to do in beginning play through was to beat Melania and pick up a few bell bearings. After completing that, I decided to respec into your samurai build since I had 100% of all the foundation work done and I could just jump into the build without any problems.
I fought Godskin Apostle in Caelid for the Godslayer Greatsword and died once since that was literally the first time I used the build and I was getting used to it. I am *no where near* your skill level. The second time I fought him, I chopped him up and fed him to the dogs outside.
Since I have most of the bosses defeated, I decided to go and fight a worthy challenge for this build - the Rune Bear in the Dragonbarrow Cave. That guy wrecked me on every character I've ever fought him on. It takes a lot of work and luck for me to beat him. Since I'm level 200, I changed up the equip load out since I literally go around and kill every thing in the world before moving on.
My armor looks like this - Omenksmirk Mask, Scaled Armor, Scaled Gloves, Scaled Greaves. Trinkets are Alexander's Shard, Millicent's Prost., Greatshield Talisman +2, Fire Scorpion Charm
I got revenge on that rune bear. Rune bears are no joke. Next thing I may fight is a lesser red wolf of radagon to see if I can beat it as easily as I did the rune bear.
I see the power of the build. It's very strong and I'll be starting a NG with it to see if it works as well on a higher difficulty.
This was fun. Couldn't finish Melania but was way more fun getting to 130 w/o farming or just cruising through smashing with the hammer. Great vid. Novice player and had a great time!

DLC hype got me back into the game after a few NG cycles at launch. have been addicted to your content for the last month or two. even went and first time played through DS3 after seeing your STR build (decided against yhorm machete and went with heavy exile - it's nuts).

Makes the prince of death staff almost not shit.

this looks incredibly fun. DLC hype got me itching to come back to the game with a clean playthrough. gonna give this one a shot!
I want to start by saying I love your videos and how well made they are. Nonetheless I have stumbled upon an obstacle lmao. I followed your start up guide and now, when I jump from that one to this one, Redmane castle is closed off mostly due to the Radahn festival being triggered.
I did the same thing and thought I was crazy for to long
@@dillonnewsom7574 In the end I just beat Radahn after The Fell Omen to get the whetblade. You really do need it for it's faith scaling.
You have to go there before the beginning of the festival, so basically it's the first thing you do when you start the game - or before going to Altus I believe.
@@jeromemorin9352 well, yeah, hindsight is 20/20. 🫣 My point was if you follow the start-up guide as suggested at the beginning of this video, you lock yourself out of getting it without defeating Radahn first.

Watching these videos has me hyped for the DLC coming out in June (!!!). Platinum'd Elden Ring, and it was the first of the Souls games for me to do so. Can't wait! Shadow of the Erdtree, here we come!

The stance damage of unsheathe is definitely also rivaled by square up
For anyone wanting to try this build... Make sure you get the red whetblade before the setup guide.. I tried to do it after but couldnt because the festival was triggered
This also works really well with Dane's foot work with Dryleaf whirlwind and having the hands in the offhand as well. Add Commanders standard to the buffs and spam whirlwind.
I'm also messing up with a faith samurai build nowadays. If anyone want some weapon variety: Cross-naginata+Giant hunt ash of war also OP as hell for this build.

There are whispers that Demons Souls may be ported to PC later in the year. Will definitely do a couple of guides for it if that does happen!
For Mohg and maybe some other fire resistant, switch from flame art to holy with respective scorp and tear would just do the job even better. For Fire Giant I would pest threads the second phase. Other than that, I never thought flame art is that busted. Good job.

A Fun Samuri Build I do is a Dex/Faith Build, Using Keen Iffinity on Nagakiba and Incantations like Bloodflame Blade, Blackflame Blade, Lightning armament and them... MAJOR LEAGE fun

So, everyone's been wondering what will be the next katana that will drop with the DLC and there is a conspicuous lack of a faith katana in the game.
Some, like oroboro have been making memes about a build for a frenzy katana.
However it's almost certain that they will release a holy katana or flame art katana and I have a hunch that I know which one is going to drop, the Kusanagi no tsurugi or grass-cutting sword.
The grass cutting sword was supposedly found in the body of a dragon slain by the storm god Susanoo.
It got it's name because a warrior named Yamato Takeru once escaped a trap of flaming grass by cutting the grass with the sword and jumping through the resulting shorter flames.
It's supposedly a national treasure of Japan and is supposed to be a sign of Japan's link to divinity.
The story of the sword's discovery was also suspected of inspiring the tail cut mechanic of Dark Souls 1. So it's almost certainly something that Miyazaki likes to reference and Elden Ring is the From game with the greatest blend of eastern and western styles.

This was like an Ode to the Elden Ring.
Something you could try after this series ends is a new game + build with the Scepter of the All Knowing. The boss that drops it is really cool, really chill, and above all, such a compassionate soul that seeing him die will be more of an emotional rollercoaster than Alexander or Millicent.
If FromSoftware don't drop a DLC trailer in the next 19 days, I'm gonna be doing a Randomizer where every enemy is him.... Please, Fromsoft... Please...

You can get the Nagakiba at the very beginning of the game the samurai is near the lake and will drop it after you kill him. Then it’s all about getting enough runes to level up to wield it!!!
I’m making a samurai build with Bloodflame Blade and other elemental buffs in my 3rd play through so just giving some advice. The samurai build is the best starting class to go with for beginners

If you want even more runes before margit and are confident in your erdtree avatar skills, the avatar near Lenne’s rise is really easy to kill with the fire infused uchi.
All the bosses in Dragonbarrow are goood for money if you can manage to kill them asap.

How were you able to get the Golden Vow Spell without having to go through Godrick and travel from there?
Two and a half ways:
1: might have placed a golden vow ash of war on a dagger, which is findable in limgrave but weaker
2: there’s a route you can take around the castle that bypasses storm front castle and lets you go directly to liernia of the lakes. Once that’s done you can collect the lift medallions as normal and/or kill the magma wyrm in the mines to the north. Form there you can get to Altus and by extension mount Gelmir and the vow.
3: as above but getting rekt by the abductor virgin at the very bottom of lirunia castle and skip straight to mint gelmir…assuming you can kill the bosses for the tiny dungeon you’re dropped in
