honestly one of the most underrated UGS. great moveset compared to the others, it handles like a really big GS
Idk if I'd call it underrated, it's quite popular. I feel like I run into it all the time in duels.

@@jakestocker4854 maybe depends on what your playing on. Cause my friend plays on pc and sees a lot of vyke and I'm on ps4 and I don't see it a lot
They took Wilhelm's sword and made it worse. Then gave it some altered animations which slightly improved it.
So it's in this weird superposition of being good and bad at the same time.
I tend to think of it more as a pve weapon as the black flame does damage to enemies who are immune to other status effects. That and you can reliably land the weapon art on pve. The weapon art basically doesn't exist in pvp except maybe for very lucky circumstances.
I really appreciate the Velstadt cosplay. It's such a cool character.

Honestly chases mindset is why he is so much more successful so much more consistently than his contemporaries like sunlightblade and oroboro and Jee9(literal king of salt). I actively try to just have fun and not care and to SEEK adversity like chase. It's a struggle to break out of my habit of just getting mad when I lose, but man it's already having a big impact.
Chase, you really do embody Solaire. There is no Souls player as jolly as you!
Been waiting for this one, great video as always. The best part of the weapon art in PvP is that you can cancel it for no FP cost after the first windup swing, which has a hitbox. If you mix up finishing and cancelling the WA you can catch people off guard for massive damage.
This should be higher up.

I really wish Guts' Greatsword had these attack animations. Someone modded the Godslayer's Greatsword to look like the Greatsword, and it looks exactly like Guts swinging his sword.
Chase bro, check out the dragon halberd. The ash has some decent hyper armor and the follow up catches people off guard quite frequently imo
the fact the weapon art doesn't buff the sword and make flames come out the tip when you swing it during the buff duration is unforgivable.
The backswing at the start of the ash of war also hits at very close range for a surprisingly quick and damaging hit.

A lot of people call the ash of war trash but overlook this as well as the fact that you can roll out after the first strike
Glad crouch-poke was held back. I could almost tell when Chase wanted to use it but opted for regular R1 instead. One of the few attacks I haven't figured out how to counter yet, running into a person who knows how to use it.
Too bad the AoW wasn't landed, would 1 shot most opponents if they walk into it.
There isn’t much you can do but perfect dodge them. They have poise, come out near instantly and can’t be parried. Especially if the ugs poke spammer is latent at all then he’s unkillable… There should be a slight delay in between pokes and should have less range. Parryable maybe not still though but maybe…
@@zanemob1429 I'd like it to be parryable, like the rolling R1s of the ultras in DS3. I've had moderate success doing unlocked turn and burn jump attacks, because you have some s on the lower part of the body when in the air.
One of my top 5 favorite weapons for sure. They gave it a nice buff after patch 1.4. You can roll cancel the ash of war after the first little upward swing, and it does damage now.
They say Chase is still trying to hit that ash of war even till this day and forever
I literally fell in love with this weapon. It's my absolute favourite alongside Mohgwyn's Sacred Spear because of the moveset, the looks, the story behind it.
It is also one of the best boss killers in the entire game, befitting of its name.
it looks cool, it hits hard, it's lore is badass. My sole reason to try out faith build in NG+ just to play this weapon
Sadly no weapon art this vid, landing at least one would be devastating both PvE and PvP. You mentioned you'd like the WA to buff the sword as well. I really wish it would, kinda like Vilhelm's Greatsword in DS3.

I’ve been using the dual wielded magma blade curved swords for a while and I love them as they can be buffed very well if you give yourself the faith for golden vow+ flame grant me strength+ fire and strength buff flask! Also the ash of war is very difficult to beat in a trade…. Farm them off the snake people in volcano manor ! 🔥
Absolutely LOVE your PVP playstyle. you are genuinely nice and understanding of even most generic pvp players to where you will completely refrain from attacking until they get their summon. It’s not obligated or mandatory by any means but you want to give people the chance which is amazing, and even generosity that i couldn’t do

The weapon art has a hit box on the windup which roll catches into the first swing of they panic roll, second swing is kinda useless but cool for mix ups
A great advantage of the second swing is that it has a huge window to delay it, which can catch a good bunch of people off guard
@@LeSpicey true if they try rolling into you in a panic it could catch them again, assuming the first swing didn’t absolutely pulverize them
I love the „It’s ok if you heal“ shuffle at 12:50 and most of all that the host gets it and accepts the offer XD

Really wanna see the Wing of Astel. My personal favorite magic scaling weapon, curved swords have a cool moveset, and the AoW is really cool for zoning and fighting groups.
Nice video, if you didn’t know, that greatsword’s ash of war has a moment in which you can cancel the weapon art. That first upwards swing has a hit box and after it, you can roll, meaning you can do a part of it and still lose no fp, as that first swing doesn’t use any fp.
First and only weapon I’ve maxed so far. But it was no question as soon as I got the dragon somber stone it went straight into this thing. Love it
I’m halfway through the vid and you play so safe I assume you don’t do it the whole time. Only way I usually hit the ash of war with that weapon is with a trade on a delayed second swing. Love your vids, respect the consistency of content. Excited to see you implement all of this into invasions after you come back from your vaycay.

I love this series man, such a great idea. I'd really like to see the Royal Greatsword and Radahn's Greatswords. I've used the Royal Greatsword and it was great for pve, never tried it in pvp. Never tried Radahn's Greatswords in either.
Ohhh that faith/sycthe caster was a blast to watch. We need to see more spellcasting builds in pvp.
Been waiting for this one. Godslayer's Greatsword is my weapon of choice most of the time, the ash of war's follow up has been very good at catching people and can potentially one-shot. If you activate it close enough to them, you can also stun the opponent upon activation and the ash of war will still catch them on the roll.

You should have used the follow up on the AoW more often. You can delay the timing on it and trade, many people try to punish after the first swing and then get hit by the delayed second swing.

Golden Order Greatsword! I just found it last night lol, as a Dex/Faith build I find it super fun to play with!
I love greatswords but I usually go with curved greatswords 'cause of how the R1 isn't very smooth on greatswords. However, this weapon's smooth R1 alone makes me really interested in it. I missed it in my first playthrough so I gotta make it a priority to get this weapon. Thanks for letting me know about it and check its moveset out!

I find the best times for the AoW to land is usually to bait with the first attack animation and get them with the follow up. But that's not usually a guarantee,but Godslayer is my favorite Colossal next to the zwei.

Hey Chase! I do “main” this weapon with a black flame incant dex/faith build. Your weapon AoW does benefit from the GS Seal even if you two hand the Greatsword. If you can afford the extra 1.5 weight it’s a direct damage buff.
Edit: Just logged in to test it and it does not appear to be changing the damage. I had previously used the enemy at the ledge of Leyndell by the East Ramparts grace. Only thing I can think of is I either got enemy unaware crits at the right moments or at one point it was unintentionally buffing and was adjusted. Checked multiple other areas and the damage is consistent with or without the seal as of 1.05. Big sad.
no it doesn't. godslayer seal only affects incantations.
The wa on godslayer is best for trading. It can tank through almost anything except a jump heavy, plus some ppl fall for the second follow up, and it can be used to protect your back if ppl get behind you.
I definitely think the Ornamental straight sword would be worth a look at due to it’s unique ash of war moveset

The Spiral of Death! Love this swirly boi, it's the only UGS I use alongside the Zwei thanks to it's high speed.
Well, that and the fact it's weapon art hits for a quite frankly a b s u r d amount of damage, haha!
Such a fun sword! I just wish it's normal attacks had the black flame debuff on them like the AoW does.
Maybe that'd be a bit *too* powerful, but it bugs me that it has the visual effect but not the damage...

@@baldgaming6204 Only the weapon art actually deals the bonus damage, the regular strikes que the visual effect but not the damage. You can tell because every time it hits something, there isn't that rapid countdown of extra damage afterwards.

You should check out Eleonora's Poleblade. The mix-ups are really good, and the Ash Of War has a follow up which you can choose to delay. It's really good for catching people off-guard and keeping them guessing.
A glorious and grandiose greatsword, with an awesomely armored ash of war! One of my absolute favorites in this game, but my heart still belongs to the Partizan.
Good stuff as always, how about the greatmace or the beastclaw hammer next?

This weapon is the perfect balance between greatsword and ultra greatsword. Hits decently hard, scaling makes it feasible in both STR/fai and dex/faiz has an AoW that’s really cool and deals killer damage. One of my favorite weapons
This colosal greatsword has very agressive dead angles. Like in that fight with the Halo scythe at the begining, you hit the dude while going for the backstab
I used it for a bit amd I actually hit with the l2 fairly often. If you time it right you can roll catch, and people often underestimate the range. Also baiting out the followup works fairly often.
Also trading
the initial draw does damage, so many people panic roll and get caught by the big swing then the follow up swing too if delayed slightly.

You can bait them in with the first hit of the ash of war and then follow up by trading with the second
The swords ash of war swings to high i find when locked on to an enemy of the same height. Moving slightly to the right can save them at times.
Putting on the fire scorpion talisman is actually a pretty good option you get about the same damage increase as five levels in dex with some minor loses in defence.

Seems Chase is focused on getting as many weapon showcases done as possible, since he didn't complete them in Dark Souls 3, before Elden Ring released. He said he'd return to invasions 2 weeks after his holiday... it's been quite a while. Feeling sad about that.

the "magic" stat scales mainly with the weapon art so faith wouldn't show more ar but if someone's blind you could hit them with the WA

You should do power stances omen killer cleavers next, they’re great and sword dance is super fun on them
My first er build was regalia of eochaid, a jellyfish shield, and the longbow. The straight sword does massive damage for a straight sword imo
You do know you can ash of war cancel by dodge rolling at the first animation right?(I also like to use the ash of war if they are being very aggressive and up in my face with no regards as to the potency of the ash of war.)
This weapon was always so cool, and I decided to use it as part of my Dex run.
After using it, I found out that it was also really good lol.

The R2 offers a good mixup catching people that get away. Personally don’t like to use the poke too much , and am bummed that in many of these weapon showcases I don’t feel you use the most versatility. Not trying to throw shade love ur vids for years, keep it up!

I used this weapon on a pyro build once. The crouch poke can combo into catch flame, and you can WA right after to pretty reliably roll catch or poise through them. Probably the only way to land the WA on someone with a braincell.

I'd love to see you try the charged R2s on ultra weapons some more, add the Axe Talisman and charge tear and you'll be one-shotting anyone that dares to trade
Epic mix up potential since most of your R2s are gonna be slow already, the charging really adds an element of surprise then shock
In this L2 meta, outright flattening someone with the good old Zweihander puts the proverbial cherry on top of the cake of disrespect that are R2s
Do the claws and the other pata swords if there are any!,
plus use sheilds with a sword.
tip: u can cancel the weapon art of the godslayer’s greatsword if u roll during that initial first little swing of the sword before it has the black flame on it
No clue if it's covered in the video, but you can noticeably delay the WA follow-up on this sword for around a full second. I like to whiff it at close-medium range when I'm fighting close range builds so that they run in for a punish, and I armor through to delete their health with a mega-delayed follow-up. Since it does so much damage, the trade is almost always in your favour. If they don't challenge it, then you get off a super slow WA completely safe.
I have it a concerning number of people with this.
