I love the no livery speed champions because they're so much easier to turn into alternate builds without it looking strange.
That's a really good looking Mustang.
Yeah, that tinting is too dark. Might even get pulled over by LEGO City police with windows that dark. ;)
I own a Dark Horse. I was very impressed by the detail they had in this for a small set. It is pretty accurate, even down to the blue shifter. The best is the headlights. The clear piece is already divided into 3 sections from the forming process. It represents the 3 headlights perfectly.
The extra width makes such a big difference to the level of detail. The speed champions sets are a great line as they can be toys or collectors items. Fun for all!!
I fully agree with you calling out the mold (mould??) marks in modern LEGO elements. I've had a handful of pieces across different sets with marks/nubs so large that they would not fit properly with adjacent pieces until I shaved down the excess plastic. Sad to see quality decreasing despite rising prices every single year.

$27? Oh how times have changed. I remember $15 ones just a few years ago. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great build, but I find it crazy how they’ve gotten so much more detailed, but $27 is still a lot for one of these cars.
They did a great job with this one.
Everyone was so quick for the Audi, but all I'm hearing this is the best so far. Only got it yesterday and I love it. Great review jang I love the way you don't spoil any build details.
This does look cool, though I'll miss the $20 8-wide cars.
I don’t really do muscle cars but this is a must-have just for the way its shaped so well. My main takeaway is ‘please do another skyline R34’ - this is streets ahead of the F&F model IMO
I bought this on March 1st and built it immediately. It was a very satisfying build experience with an even more satisfying end-result. Can't wait for your videos of the other new Speed Champions sets. 😊
The best one of the season. Shame with the price creep. Now is a great time to get previous season's cars.
Being from Detroit, I had to get this when nearly all Speed Champion sets are European models.
old 6 stud wide speed champions looks almost like modern city cars :P

Lovely build, some stickers a bit finicky but overall great shaping and clipping techniques used.
The latge print in the cockpit is very accurate as the inside of this car looks very futuristic.
When you compared the new mustang to the old one, it made me realize how much better proportioned the old one is.
Don’t get me wrong the new one looks good, but it does look a little too stubby.
I wish Lego would make a larger wheel and tire mould, and larger wheel arches to accommodate. Because the width to length proportions are a bit off IMO
I loved the techniques used for the front and rear of the set, super impressive IMO.
I had high hopes when I saw the leak that a new Mustang would be in this year's wave. I was a bit let down by the initial photos but after having bought and built the set I can say that they absolutely knocked it out of the park. Easily the best of the 2024 line and while it may not be the most visually interesting of this year or others, its easily one of my favorite builds, if not top favorite.
My only knocks are the color and the price. I would would have preferred something a little more splashy, but a Dark Horse being a dark color seems fitting, and in person it has grown on me. The price though... I get more and more work is going into these sets, but $20-25 honestly felt like the sweet spot, and now the pill is getting hard to swallow for Speed Champions.
I wish the door handles were prints. It's such a useful piece for a car.
Yes the new clear windshield "color" is way too dark, the worst on that Mustang being the rear window outlined with black bricks, it is almost impossible to distinct them.
I am pretty sure that we won't have this dark clear pieces in 2025 and maybe in wave 2 or 3 from this year.
I bought first the Audi then the Ford Mustang, I have no interest in the other two sets (BMW was on my list but way way too many stickers in 3 or four parts that can't be joined together and the M4 was already a meh for me but I wanted the set for the Hybrid to go along the Porsche from 2023 but I can't possibly purchase it with those huge multiple stickers problems)
Now I am waiting for the Wave 2 revealings in pictures.
i think i am happy to pay that bit more honestly for the new speed champions, dont get me wrong the small ones were great for my city/dioramas but you really cant deny the amazing looks of the new ones
I am so glad for the discount stores that exist. In Australia these cars RRPs are now $39.99, which is simply obscene for a single car.
This set, as much as I love the colour, is ultimately coming across as a bit too dark, imho.
I wish they would stick to a certain size because when I get to building a Lego city they cars are gonna be different sizes 😤😭

My only complaint is the awful door handle stickers…seemingly unnecessary.
I'll just leave them off. Most Speed Champions stickers can just be ignored without significantly worsening the cars' exteriors.
This is one of the few times I'm glad it's a sticker rather than a print. No way I'd put those on if I got it for myself, haha!
That was my first thought as well. Either have a creative way to build out a handle or leave the sticker out

Totally just put two and two together you're the Ultimate RC guy from years ago. I knew I knew you from somewhere and have followed all your Lego channels for a few years haha
I think I mentioned it on one of your other Speed Champion reviews, but I really do prefer it when they use transparent stickers for road cars, because it allows you to build the set in alternate colours. And I think the lack of transparent stickers here, is a real detriment to the set.
I'll probably buy one of these, but if they had of used transparent stickers, I would have bought several. Like I'm not kidding, I've bought multiples of other Speed Champion sets that have used transparent stickers.
Currently I have 6 Challengers (OG Purple, Blue, Red, Red with a Red Roof, Lime Green and Orange), 3 Corvettes (OG Dark Red, Black, White and Orange), 4 Contarghe (OG White, Red, Black and Yellow), 7 Supras (OG Yellow, Red, White, Light Grey, Dark Grey, Red with White Race Stripe, White with Red Race Stripe and Red with White Race Stripe and a Spoiler).
And all of that, specifically being able to all have the same detail that comes from the stickers, is thanks to the transparent stickers

This is a very cool set, and a surprise for me as I was expecting it to be underwhelming from the first pictures.
I got this as my first Speed Champions set, and I’m not disappointed. It’s really good.

2:15 on the Ford configurator you can get exactly this spec. Arguably the hood should be a bit darker, but black would be too dark.

I’m a green GT driver so I’m definitely better suited to the technic set from a year or two ago but I really like the look of this. I wish the stickers were clear backed so it could be modded.
The 2016 fits better in a Lego City in my opinion. The new one looks great. But it is just too big compared to other Lego City vehicles.
I really like this set, the The Elva which was in my closet for months and I still have no idea how it got there jump started the reincarnation of my lego addiction, I built it, loved it, dug out my old legos, the ones I could find anyways, I bought this mustang the from the lego store, one came today, and now I am expecting more in the mail two of which are retired, I love this stuff honestly

The only Speed Champion I have is set number 75884, the green 68 Fastback Ford Mustang, but this nice Mustang could be the second Speed Champion I buy, and it will look great along the former one!
This Mustang looks amazing in all, one of the best Speed Champions cars I've seen, but to my shock, at my local TRU, they have increased the price to 39,99$!!! I couldn't believe my eyes! I don't know what is going on in Québec to get such high prices like that! And that's not the only sets I've seen with increased prices!
I didn’t think I’d pick up any of the sets from this wave of SC, but I think this changed my mind on at least this one 😅

One thing I don't understand... The e-tron set has more prints that this Mustang has stickers. Why didn't they print all of the decorations?
this is fs one of the nice ones of this wave and really gives off the mustang look the cost is the only issue but other than that overall great car and build.

is it just me or has the injection marks on recent LEGO getting worse? I know the dark blue seems to show them more. I initially noticed on the Minecraft Phantom. There it is, just got to 7:15. Glad we agree.

Wouldn't be surprised if they had excess stock of the red roses and just tossed them in for construction building. After all it goes inside the build and you don't see them.
I think the steering wheel needs a new piece, it looks so tiny!

I'm not a car guy but the car looks great. Nice color. However the stand out for me is the minifigure. Fits perfectly and I LOVE that hair piece.
I think the sizing on the old speed champs was better 6 studs wide

I would much rather pay the extra few dollars to have specialized molded or extra pieces like the headlights, taillights, vents. As much as I love the prints, I would much prefer brick built details.
Regarding the red flowers: my theory is that lego designers use them because they are made of marginally less plastic than your regular 1x1 studs. So when making hundreds of thousands of these sets, it pays off
I'm not a Ford Mustang fan but this is probably the best looking Ford Lego has done in the Speed Champions....yes even better than the Bronco
I love the Mustang but this price is getting out of hand. I didn't like the $24.99 price and now even higher price for just a 8 stud wide car and one minifig that doesn't have arm and leg printing. Back when a 8 stud wide car with one minifig was $19.99 was perfect amount. At this new price I expect two minifigs with a tiny side build of some sort. I might skip this one. It's just too much for one car and minifig.
Those injection mold gate marks are getting out of hand, it really takes away from the quality that have previously set Lego apart from the competition. It looks bad and cheap. Otherwise, the set looks to be a very nice one.
I hate how expensive they're getting cause it's the one series I try to collect every car whenever new ones come out.

While that many new special and complicated pieces allow for great details, hiding the studs and much more complicated shapes, at the same time I think it loses that Lego charm. Sets nowadays are getting closer and closer to Playmobil.
Playmobil requires no construction to achieve the smooth look, which elevates the look knowing how bricks led to such a smooth finish. Poor comparison imo.

Tbh, I don’t get when people freak out over exposed studs or shaping inaccuracies, as its part of the brand (and its inherent limitations) imho - if they want a 1:1 model, they should get a 1:1 model, not a Lego set

It's nice to see a female driver figure in a single car set. Usually we only get women in the two car sets, so I'm glad that Lego is finally catching onto there
