Bro, you saved my ass. I over torqued and broke the new spark plug in my N51 engine, your video gave me the idea to put a #5 easy out on a 20" extension and twist it out. I was able to get it out without a ratchet or impact driver. I tapped on it with my hand once, did the backspin and it came out in seconds, thanks for the inspiration and for saving me a bunch of money!!!

Yup same here. I broke mine after over torqueing and after reading your reply I got the idea to just use an oversized flat head screw driver since the plug wasn't seized. Tapped it in with a hammer twice and it twisted right out. Thanks x2!

I just saw on another site that they recommend square edged ez outs instead of spiral type. Square is less likely to expand thrads of broken plug causing it to get tighter in the attempt to remove it,,,,

I used the Harbor Freight part: 93822 pipe extractor 1/4" it worked well. ( I'll never say anything bad about Harbor Freight tools) The main thing is to let the broken plug soak for over 24 hours.

9/16 extracter bit. Socker extension, 12mm attached to it and put it in. The porcelain came out, only the screw part with the prong at the end was left inside. Put the bit in with the extension, tap a bit, and put some muscle into it TURNING COUNTER CLOCKWISE TO LOOSEN IT UNTIL IT TIGHTENS IN THAT WAY. Yes in the direction to loosen a normal plug. It will tighten. Keep putting muscle behind it and will bit and turn loose. 5$ tip at autozone

You are a very brave and lucky man for trying that (maybe just frustrated) :- )
Those easy outs are not made for impacts and they break easily if they bind up. Once they break off you will have an extremely hard time trying to remove a broken one. They are not easily drilled out and you may end up needing a cutting torch to remove it. A wrench is all that I would brave to use with it. Even then slow and steady with it. Good on yah for getting it out. Hope this helps someone.

That’s not good! I don’t really have any great suggestions. It is possible to to weld a small pipe or bolt onto the broken spark plug but you have to be carful not to weld it to the head or get slag inside the motor. I wouldn’t try drilling it out as that will put shavings into the motor. You may be at a head pulling point. Sorry to hear about your luck. Hopefully you get it.

I got mine at Home Depot. It’s an 8 point socket that forms a square inside the points. I will drop a link if I can find one online.

It’s an 8 point socket that the 8 points make a square inside of them. You can get them at Home Depot or pretty much any place that sells tools 👍

@@FairlyHonest Thanks, I have a no. 5 easy-out stuck down in the spark plug. I just need to know the size of the 8-point socket now. Do you happen to remember the size of the socket?
