Spark plug broke off inside your Ford engine? This is a common problem with the 5.4 liter V8 engine Ford used in F-150 trucks, Expeditions, and other models. Because the 2 valve version of the Triton engine had issues with ejecting spark plugs, Ford made some changes for the 3 valve update. In this case, the spark plugs stayed in a little too well, causing them to break during removal! In this video Cristian walks you through using the spark plug extractor tool that you can buy right on 1AAuto.com!

The Ford Triton engine is known for a lot of problems which includes poor oil circulation and poor cooling ducts in the block. I don't own one but that is a very ingenious tool that was invented for the Triton engine. A very self-explanatory video and interesting to watch.

Nice. I own a 3 valve and it has been going for 5 years until i asked the mechanic to replace them. Idk why but im glad i did. Knowing this could have gone worst, thankfully it didn't

Lisle actually says to screw the plunger all the way in and that you can’t over-tighten it. I think to give you the most room to thread in the extractor.

Why would anyone buy a vehicle from this company knowing they make poorly designed products???!!! I use to think people who say " I won't drive a Ford, or I won't drive a chevy" were just stupid but now I see why. BTW aren't these made in the U.S.?

One would think Ford would know how to design spark plugs.

  • @jjedijj

you broke the plug because you dont know what your doing, on those engines you have to run the engine till full hot, then use a impact gun and you will never break another one.
