Well he waited for his big debut role with the Coens and it couldn’t have fit him more perfectly. His portrayal of Anton Chigur is legendary. Now everybody wants to work with him.
He's such a good/intense actor that I just assumed he was kind of an asshole or weirdo irl but nope he seems to be a very lovely man..I guess there's that thing about assumptions...
@@tinotrivino Why is he a "radical"? Because he believe in the right of people to live with equal opportunities and to have a decent life? Nowadays, anyone who is not a materialist is labeled "radicat" or "extremist" today.
I can understand his trepidation. For anyone that has been thrown into the deep end of a pool, that's what it feels like. Everyone around you can swim and you're struggling while inhaling water and no one is helping you. Sometimes, you're just not ready. Later you learn that if you just relax, you float.
Wow, interesting how he did a whole other accent in No Country For Old Men, and I couldn't be sure where Anton Chigurh was from, but in real life he speaks with a strong Spanish accent.
I'm so glad he didn't take the role, not that he probably wouldn't have killed it; but I can't imagine him doing anything other than the projects he has been in.
If you are honest in the film industry and know your boundaries and limitation, people will be respectful most of the time, and why shouldn't Steven? I was called by casting a few times and while I know that some would have just said "yes" to any work during a slow season, I would honestly tell casting or production "Okay, this is what's going on... and I don't want to put production under risk if you hire me." They really appreciate this kind of honesty.
I know Spielberg is the summer block-buster god, but after No Country for Old Men, I consider Mr. Bardem to have the upper hand with regard to theatrical GRAVITAS.
Very very few people artist actor on this earth especially have the guts to think that ways. That okay I am not deserving of this opportunity right now, let ne grow more. Damnnnn broo
Either way, I agree, he doesn't feel like he'd belong in that movie. It's a good movie, but he's not a good fit for it. It's much more of a junk piece, in a GREAT way, like it's a very fun and light movie and Javier's style is DEVASTATINGLY real, he would've added an unneeded touch in that particular movie. Tom / Ferrell, all of them were great. Even that blonde guy, I forget his name, but they added to this surreality and Javier would've been a realistic fully working switchblade in a movie about a surreal future. It's great a he considered that so deeply and turned down what would've been an amazing opportunity.
I'm sorry I just don't know how you turn down an opportunity to work with Tom Cruise and Steven Spielberg. You get yourself ready. You do whatever you have to do to "see yourself in the role." It's like an athlete saying "Nah" to the Olympics.
It's very easy to understand, actually. He explained it, maybe you should pay attention. If an athlete is not in shape or does not have the proper training to go to the Olympics and decides to go anyway just because he wants to become famous, he'll be an embarrassment in front of millions of people because he'll underperfom and his reputation will be destroyed forever. Bardem was very smart and the fact he's now a big star with a successful career proves he made the right choice.
@@Fidel_L.Bousquet1970 Maybe for you, because you're used to losing and have no self-esteem. I don't have that mindset. I hope you change your mindset soon and learn how to grow and develop yourself. It'll be well worth it. Good luck.
@@vladimirhorowitz that's why you who has that "winning mindset" isn't on any of the RUclips videos we're watching and relegated to wasting their time arguing with others in the comment sections of RUclips right? This dude gave one of the most amazing acting performances ever on No Country For Old Men
Amazing actor. Huge respect for him and Steven Spielberg.
He is a bullshit actor and you know it my friend.

Absolutely love this actor and what a humble human being. Love them both Penelope and him.
My respect for Javier just jumped up 🙌
This man has the superpower of hindsight.
What an amazing man

One of the best actors of all time
Thanks for your honesty javier
I'm sick of seeing Javier Bardem die--he's our real hero.

y'all need to revisit "Mother!" -- an underrated masterwork ahead of its time with an amazing performance from Bardem and a career best from Lawrence.
Wow, much respect for Javier Bardem. Humble, wise and realises he is a person not a persona.
I love Javier 💪💪
I need a psychological thriller with him opposite to Jeffrey Dean Morgan....come on scriptwriters....make it happen
Oh ya, twins.. 😮😮
It wasn't until I heard his accent that I realized they are two different men. Wtf, this kinda blows my mind. They look so similar!
He's going to be in the dune reboot awesome....
When Before Night Falls came out, it was clear that he was one of the greats. No wonder he got a call from Spielberg!
I will see every movie he's been in and those he makes in the future. Great actor and a great person!!
Javier's work in Before Night Falls is extraordinary. He has nothing to prove.
Gran actor! Se lo merece!
Good guy! You have an amazing soul ❤️
So glad Samantha Morton got the role of Agatha instead.
He was great in Mother! The best movie about being in a relationship I've watched so far.
Great actor, Love his movies!
I respect and admire this explanation

All well and good, but can they please make a movie together now?
REAL PEOPLE WITH REAL TALENT ARE GREAT PEOPLE
Nice to know there are still some decent people in Hollywood.
He would make a good Bane in a Future Batman film. Maybe use Dave Batista as the body and use Javier voice.
Olyphant talks about this a lot with regards to Hitman
He kinda looks like dino spumoni
heads or tails....call it....
With all due respect to Bardem, Minority Report was meant for Tom.
I dont think he was in Tom's role, I think he would have been in Colin Farell's role.
