I'm busy building a 1/4 scale boat, was working in the garage this morning and looked up into the roof. there was still a big piece from the boat my dad overalled when I was a kid... He was so proud of that boat. I hope to have one some day. woven directly on any surface other than the chopped strand 1st, never adheres flatly or well.
I will be watching this build. I have always had a fondness for Glastron. My father owned a 1973 Glastron CV-21 with a 455 olds and a berkley jet. Similar to the black boat in live and let die, that was a cv-21. As a kid I was always checking out glastron boats in the 70s. Never owned one but I did own a 79 Tahiti tiger for 20 years, with a 455 olds. Rebuilding it 3 times to the point of always boring the blocks to .60 over. Forged pistons ported heads Offenhauser tunnel ram with dual 750 holly's and a 250 shot nitrious cheater system, oil cooler, 10 qt. pan, place diverter for the jet. Had lots of fun with it as my children grew up.
@@BoatsandEngines we have a glastron ssv 164 we made to look like the black and yellow billybob boat. Bought before covid so its still in the boat yard that painted it🤬
On with a very similar project. An old 70's Yeoman speedboat 14ft. I too removed the windshield but I am going to make a brand new one. It's relatively strait forward. Remove the aluminium frame so you just have the polycarbonate or acrylic plastic shield. Lay the shield face down flat so the bends bends upward. Get an electric heat gun and gently warm it starting from the center outwards towards the bends. It will begin to soften and fall flat. Once you have it flat you now have your template. Polycarbonate is not very UV stable and will yellow. Acrylic is more stable and clearer to look through. Draw around your old shield on whatever plastic you choose. Cut it out and then do the who thing in reverse. Heat gun, form the bends by using the aluminium frame as the guide. Be patient and go slowly. Keep the gun at far away that it does not bubble the material. Bingo, new shield.
Okay! Never mind my last comment! Your stringers look good!!! (HOW did that happen???) Keep up the great work. I can't wait to see the finished product!!!
Hello, I've done lots more over the last year, new Harwood stringers and a ply floor glassed in. And the deck is back on. Unfortunately I've lost most of the footage, which is why there is no video. I do have another bigger boat project coming very soon.
That Merc 1400 is a 1972, it was only made in 72. In 73 Merc introduced their 1500. The 1400/140 made from 1978-1981 was a significantly different engine The 4 cylinder next to it is a 1979 80hp
@@BoatsandEngines I just purchased the same boat with similar issues im curious as to how you re installed the floor and transome. Please post another video if you have one.
I was born when this boat was new. thanks for reminding me i'm that old.
I think that’s the bendiest screwdriver I’ve ever seen.
Another interesting vid! Glad to see you and the fam doing well
I'll try to feature some of my more heavily abused tools, I've got a a ratchet with a 90 degree bend in it...

I'd really like a glastron 23 stiletto, sadly they never imported them into Europe.
I might try and ship one here next time I'm in the US.

Great to see you making progress on the boat again, Mr Phillips!
We back!!! Forgot about this channel, glad to see it again

Awesome! Glad you’re back, was wondering about your boat and it’s progress
I wish we had RUclips when I owned a beat up Glasstron CV 18 in the 90’s.
There's obviously one more 'new subscriber' in the pushchair :-) Thanks for an excellent video on a splendid project.
Looking forward to seeing the next stage 👍
Just picked one of these up for £50 so these videos will be very handy
Awesume boat // any update about the boat ?

Mine was blue
Whens the next vid? Excited to see progress!!

You can still get that gunwale molding in stainless and aluminum
the boat is rated for a 90 hp but many ppl go bigger.
Noooooo you need the V4 Evinrude or Johnson 😔
Drill some small test holes at the bottom of the transom and at the rear of the stringers...glastrons rot there.
That's good advice, I will do.
Glastron made pretty boats BUT THEIR WOOD WAS SHIT
So?
Woven roven -
Y talk like hell.u never stop talking!!!
Thanks for your feedback, always appriciated!
