Hey, I also have diy microlocs and had been interlocking until this point. I’m not quite a year in. But I just re-twisted mine for the first time and omg. At this point, I’m not even worried about how they’ll turn out I am NEVER interlocking again. Ain’t nobody got time for that!

Same! I started retwisting after 7 months of interlocking. I will not go back because retwisting is gentler and I can do it myself.

I’m 1yr into my sisterlocks. My original loctician got overwhelmed with her many clients and eventually she stopped doing my hair. I've just subbed! I love your transparency and despite all the small bridges you had to cross, your hair looks absolutely fabulous. Im in 2 minds whether to do microlocs but would love to know if microcoils is an option instead? I'm wondering if that could be used as a means of protective styling and length retention if one is not sure whether to commit to locs, if you know what I mean. I used to have dreads many years ago to my elbows and sometimes miss them, but if I were to experience them again, it would be microlocs as the are so versatile for styling.

Wow this was interesting to watch! I have microlocs and absolutely love them I was asking my loctition about twisting and she said over time it takes away from the integrity of the locs. She said it can certainly be done she would not recommend it but of course to each is own. Your hair is beautiful and thus came out great!! Love your videos ❤
Lol I thought for sure I responded to this already, I may have typed it somewhere else. 😅 bit yes long story short although I had no issues I don't recommend retwisting I have a video up on it. I didn't plan to keep my locs, but have switched back to interlocks for the security. I agree with your loctician. Thanks love
I’m in nursing school and won’t have time to interlock in the middle of the semester so I’m def going to try a retwist instead!

They look great! I’m going to retrial my micros for the first time and I was worried how a retweeted would do with my work out regimen, I’ll be mindful to tie my hair back and wear a stocking cap to help preserve the retwist. Thanks for sharing!
A compression style like wearing a low pony tail definitely helps preserve the twists.

I like twist vs interlock…I have micros and going to start maintaining my own locs.
I had traditional locs and maintained them on my own.
I just prefer to maintain my own hair now.

I did my first microloc install on my bff which took about 6 hrs. That was 6 weeks ago and today I did her first retightening and that took longer! 😩😤 I thought I was doing something wrong until I saw this video and read the comments lol. I may try to talk her into retwists for next time cuz SHEESH!!!

I'm struggling through a retie via interlocking. 😩Do you usually retwist in between your retie? How did you come to start doing it this way?

Have you experienced any thinning yet? I know a lot of the micro log community interlock bc smaller strands are more prone to thinning when retwisted. Thank you.

I’m only 6 weeks in…with 280 micro locks. I didn’t think you could palm roll them. I work out and sweat a lot. I thought they would be prone to breaking if not interlocked because they were so small…. Maybe when my locs are not baby locs I can try retwisting instead of interlocking.
Yes you can twist micro locs as well, Im in the same boat with the working out and sweating, interlocks makes more sense in that case.. but its a love/hate for both.. Thanks for watching, truly :)

yes! but i do not recommend it for fine hair or xs micrlocs.
