- I did not expect to do a 180 on a SNES inspired handheld, given I didn't really like the Bittboy Pocketgo S30, but after playing with the RG353P for a week, this device has really won me over. Hear why I think this is one of the better designed retro handhelds available.

I love this handheld, what a journey it has been to improve to this stage.
These reviews are nuts and you go in depth on topics that matter. 👍🏼
Just discovered your channel 🙂 Helpful and informative review
Thanks!
Great video as usual Jim!
Thanks Chocho!
its a pity it cant really run PSP and DC smoothly, I truly love the form factor and would be willing to pull the trigger if it did run at the very least up till those systems since they are my favorites, if it cant really run DC smoothly that means then that probably arcade games from the Atomis/Naomi catalogue might also have some hicups and again those are some of my absolute favorite arcade games.
Same
I love watching these videos thinking that I have a console like that to play
Great video! I'd love to get this if I didn't already have an RG351V, wish these had the power to play ALL 4:3 games at full speed and Killer Instinct on Arcade. ^_^
Thanks! 4:3 including PS2? Probably need a SD845 or SD870 handheld!
I really like this model. I hope they release a mini version, but in black instead of "smoke", with colored buttons instead of just the letters, and a single row of shoulder buttons instead of two, so it can be slimmer and more portable.
yeah i kinda want a mini one of these closer to original snes controller size for more comfortable portability in the pocket
I love mine, I previously had the 350M and 250M from them, that terrible MIPS based one, which at that time wasn't actually terrible, but these Rockchips and now dimensity chips are nice. Unisoc ones are okay. Glad to see chips out there with >SD845 power in graphics and processing so that we can get some decent GameCube and PS2 performance on the go.
I just picked mine up a few days ago, absolutely love it! One thing I can't seem to figure out though it how to get the playstation boot-up video/splash screen to show up on games. On my desktop PSX emulator I was able to tweak the bios file to "-slowboot" but I don't know how to do it on the linux or android base of the RG353P. It shows the boot screen for GB, GBC, Dreamcast etc. but not PS1, any ideas?
Do you know what the bag and bagH options are for in the Ali Express purchase link just curious because if it can come with a protective case I'm all the way sold!!! Hahaha!!
Sir,pliz reply can we play ps2 emulator in the android system in that installed aethersx2 ?
Pliz reply me
With the P on the end I reckon they will do a metal version 🙏🏽👍🏾I can't wait to get this beauty 🙏🏽🤘🏾
I just bought this and I want a v version but the rg351v wasn't powerful enough for my favorite n64 games so I settled for this but if it goes metal and I love this and has hardware upgrade I will probably upgrade
@@alexrockett1588 the plastic version is great just enough weight 🙏🏽👍🏾
Hope you do the Linux video with JELOS since it's way better.
Linux video will be with what’s in the box. I need to show everyone what they may be potentially buying and whether it’s worth it. I know 95% of ppl will put CFW on. I’ll do a CFW at a later date when there’s more options. I will talk about why CFW is important because Anbernics OS is a bit iffy from what I’ve used so far.
for someone just wanting a very portable small pocket device, is this perhaps too large? and how does this compare to the Miyoo Mini V2?
This is definitely a bit too large if you want to shove it in your pocket or anything.
I just got a Miyoo, I also got a custom 3D printed case that makes it a little easier to hold without making it bigger in your pocket. The main practical differences are that this thing won't boot as quickly, but it'll handle N64 games which the Miyoo never could.
I love how pocketable the Mininis but I'm considering getting a 353M which'll be this thing but slightly less bulky, more just a rectangle. I kinda want a 3.5in screen because the Miyoo is juuust a little small for PSX games.
You have to have to system off, plug in HDMI and then turn it on if you want HDMI out on the Linux side
Thanks for the tip!
ca n u do a video for beginners on rg353p? I tried adding dreamcast games to the linux game folder but when i try to play them nothing happens. I have no idea how to add roms to lets say the dreamcast folder on the linux side. I know how to add roms to my sega mini, my analouge pocket etc but with rg353p im all kinds of lost, especially on the android side but for now ill focus on linux, how do u add games & change there artwork? i tried that too and it didnt work.
I’ll have a look for you.

ruclips.net/video/54HcGlmalwk/видео.html how to add games to a micro sd card for Anbernic handhelds!
Do you think this would be pretty comfortable to use when laying on your back?
i generally dont play on my back because all the blood flows down my arms and they get numb. It is fairly light so I suppose you could do it for a bit. its probably around 200g.
Thanks for the video. I really can't decide if i buy this color or the grey one.
They're both good! The black is a little more inconspicuous. The grey will grab people's attention more.
Does it work with Destruction Derby 64?
I want to see xenosaga ps1 games played on this to see how they run. I want to replay them all.
The main reason android performs better on 3d games is that there's Vulkan support
I'm not sure if I know how upload games who can I goto to get this done
Can you help me? My RG353P does not pick up any of my controllers via bluetooth. Is there a certain way i have to do this?
Best to use the retro handheld discord - there's a lot of users there that can help you. I don't have my RG353P on me right now! discord.gg/retrohandhelds
@@JimRPG thanks!!
Question how do you go back to lenux from the android section
Insert the Micro SD card with linux on it and reboot. (without the micro sd card its android OS)
What about Atomsware games?
is the led light bleed acceptable or annoying on this?
Not for me. I suppose there is a tiny bit, but i dont see it. I think its a good screen. Units will vary though.
How is the video out quality?
Its a bit tricky to get right, like when you plug it in its not the correct aspect ratio (I think its stretched), so there's a bit of fiddling with screen resolutions to get it right. The quality is fine though.
Is it possible to remote play ps5 on this?
Yes
L3/R3 available?
Yes
Great video, but that's the wrong palette for Mario, the sky is supposed to be purplish in Super Mario not blue, that's got nothing to do with the consoles tho, just the palette you selected in Retroarch so it's fine. Man this new one looks so awesome design wise. Thanks for the in-depth review.
No probs! Thanks for watching. With Super Mario its interesting that the same color palette produces different colors depending on the screen though. Like the RG503 is too strong for me. But others might like it. Yes I think they nailed they design of this!
A little pointless to have Android, but no playstore feature.. This definitely looks nice and comfortable, but.. Anbernic has gotten a little pricey on their devices lately.. $150 might be pushing it. Nice review tho
They don’t use play store in China I guess. Have to root it ourselves to get playstore which is extra work. There’s a link in the description on how to do that.
@@JimRPG I think side loading would be easier and safer. Besides how many games would it hold ya know
Screen is too small
ᎮᏒᎧᎷᎧᏕᎷ ⭐
I disagree
The Console is amazing ,chipset sucks!it's too poor !!once again a chipset with low performances !disappointment!in Italy we have to pay 200 euros ,200 dollars more or less ....it's a huge NO to me !
Yikes I understand - that's really expensive. its $140 on aliexpress and Anbernic's website. I think $120 is probably the right MSRP. I don't mind the RK3566, this gets you better N64, Saturn and Dreamcast performance. The screen is too small for PSP though. But overall - I think for fans who like 8/16/32 bit this is great, and its a better deal than the $140 of the RG351MP, where the only difference was the metal shell.
the Android side sucks
Custom firmware improves it
