Hello world, how are you doing?
In today’s video we will be doing a unboxing of the new RG353P handheld from Anbernic I have been waiting a while for this one and it’s has not disappointed me…for stock firmware with little tweaking this is running great…and the price is very reasonable too. Love to know your thoughts on this new dual boot android and Linux system?
I will be doing lots of long play as always guys so let me know what games you wish to see running on the RG353P?
Am really enjoying this one guys and can’t wait to sink my teeth in to tinkering on the 353P

I watched several reviews of the other handheld consoles, including this one. I finally gave in and ordered the RG353P. Should be here next week. Can’t wait to try it out.

I have the RP 2 + and i still want this one. I hate having to configure **find correct rom sets **everything from out of the box. This is very plug n play and the SD is packed and configured already. Awesome system.

Great unboxing. This console looks incredibly comfortable. My sweet spot is 16 bit and some Playstation. Thanks for showing some of the earlier games. I hope to see more of those in the review. I am definitely ordering one and I'm glad Anbernic is back to doing what they do best and also seem to be listening to the community regarding design. I was collecting all the Anbernic products because their quality is unmatched. But I skipped the 552 and the 503 because they seemed to lose their way for a bit.
I love the 552, but sadly it was only the price..but this one is awesome I really like it, and thank you for the kind words buddy
@@SonicLoveEmulation yes I'm sure I would like the 552, as well. It was the pricing as you said that made me hang on to my RGB10 Max for my 5 inch screen and wait in case there's ever a price drop.
Enjoy your game! I hurried up and ordered a Powkiddy RGB20S for myself, but in the future I also want to order an RG353P for myself! (Although who knows, maybe by then something better will come out)

I have a RG552, rp2+ and this one, I play this one the most, it just feels great...
I have a renewed interest in Anbernic handhelds now that they're not using the aging RK3326 for everything. I imagine I will buy the RG353P soon.
I think moving forward now it’s exciting times for retro handhelds can’t wait to see how the last part of the year unfolds

@@SonicLoveEmulation You were right, this is an awesome little handheld! I installed a 1TB micro sd card in mine. Love the KODI media player app. I've loaded my card with TV shows and movies as well!

I really really like my Transparent Black Edition RG353P! I plan to get the SNES Gray edition as well. Booming set of stereo speakers on this one.

god of war i wish worked well but its fine no biggie. Im having trouble with dreamcast rom files. they play on the rg353p and im on JELOS but when i add the rom to the dreamcast folder for example .gdi it wont work but when i add the entire zip of the game which is almost over 1.2gb for dreamcast games then they work on the rg353p but the actual files like the .gdi etc. dont play only when i add the entire zip folder does anbernic play the dreamcast games trying to understand what im doing wrong.
How can I acquire the 64 gig chip that’s meant for the actual games cuz I bought the handheld without it by mistake. They’re is only 12 games on mine because I don’t have it. Any idea how I could buy a chip for my rg353p??

How does the video media player work on the Linux end? I'm planning on installing a 1TB micro SD card into mine to also use it as a media portable player.

Looks nice handheld,with android os too ,now the vertical & metal version is out now it's tough to choose
I would say go for the rertroid pocket 3+ or the oden lite

yes agree with you a EU snes style I would have gone for the gray version but I did like the transparent black one more

I have not been able to get Naomi monkey ball up and running on my rp2+ yet. Got any tips? When I try to run it it i use flycast retroarch core and it says retropad is not configured and crashes even though I set up the controls and saved them.
not sure why that is happening maybe try a new rom for it and make sure you have the correct bios

When I first laid eyes on this system, I thought Wow that is nice, but then specs wise, it's below my Retroid Pocket 2+.
Yes I know it's actually got 2 analogue sticks, but it's screen is to small, like my device.
That's why I am waiting to see if the leaked info on RP3 is correct, 5.2 inch screen, twin analogues, touch screen.
Obviously more powerful then anything Anbernic have on offer.
I am not going to make the same mistake again, with the RG350, a nice device, but 2 weeks later, the sodding RG350M was released with fantastic placed analogues.
That really pissed me off.
I get you Paul the joys of the handheld market sadly but still worth it if you are a crazy collector like me lol

Man, the handheld console market shouldn't be so niche. There has to be an affordable but capable handhelds yet there aren't any. Cheap emulation handhelds can do up to PS1 with questionable build quality but the ones that can play higher end systems are outrageously expensive and those higher end games aren't even new they are mostly dead console games from decades ago yet only expensive handhelds can run them. All i am asking for is a decently built handheld that can run games up to PSP, Dreamcast and Saturn and anything below yet the cheapest options that can mostly (not perfectly) run those systems are either the Odin lite which is hard to get if not impossible or the Retroid pocket 2+ which is simply to small for some people like myself who has a gigantic hands and its almost as expensive as the Odin lite in my country, and both of these handheld consoles cant even run these systems at full speed al the time. The handheld market seems like companies wanting to take advantage of our love for handhelds and retro games and sell us the same lacking devices over and over with higher prices every so called new device comes out. I have bought around 7 handhelds since 2020 and all are on a shelf now because of how disappointing they are.
I think it’s all about to shift from less Linux based low end chips to windows based handhelds or mobile chip sets moving forward..but there are lots of people still just wanting the retro handheld experience rather than high end gaming am more to higher end games though like you GameCube wii wiiu ps2,3 thinking like that…that’s why I love the steam deck perfect for emulation and med pc gaming

I got it a week ago. And i FRIGGIN LOVE IT!!
It has very good n64, Dreamcast, Saturn and psp emulation on android side.
And with JELOS custom firmware, it easily replaces the crappy default Anbernic firmware.
Powkiddy x18s has more powerful emulation (ability to play gamecube and some ps2 games) but this rg353p isnt too far behind as well (comfortable to hold)

@@nicolasmas7746 emulation wise, pretty much similar to rp2+, but i think n64 on rp353p is better, coz it can play goldeneye n64 flawlessly!
On comfortably wise, no doubt Anbernic wins. Hands down.

Nice looking device but after the 351v I'm basically done with 3.5inch screens

I do want to buy this but as the SOC does not have a heat shield and the battery being directly on top of that SOC, I can see issues like swelling batteries happening quicker than normal. So wished they didn't cheap out on the batteries because Its a pain in the arse to ratify their cheapness.
I will be looking out for a easy fix to stop that from happening but I will be using it a lot so I will keep checking to see if that happens also
@@SonicLoveEmulation As I have said before, all my Anbernic's suffered from swelling batteries within 6 months of owning them with light use so I can guess this one will go the same way. I just wished they didn't cheap out the batteries because it can be a fire hazard too.
The alternative is to raise the price. Which would you rather?

I did not know this was an issue. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I recently noticed an old iPhone 5s I had and charge up every now and then had a swollen battery and it popped the front plate off on the side. Kind of scary to think it could swell like that and potentially burst causing a fire.

Uggh. I’ve been thinking of getting a portable console that I can play emulators on. This looks so good, but the ps vita also has vita games I really want to played but currently the emulation for things besides ps stuff aren’t all good.
I love the ps vita and my hacked vita but the steam deck is now my go too
If I already have a RG351V is it worth buying the RG353P? Love the look and seems like a fun little device.
Am not sure man they are both great handhelds you do get better performance on n64 Dreamcast on rg353p but it really depends on what games you want to play really if you are happy with the rg351v then I would say no…but again your choice man

definitely enough games to last a lifetime of completion 64gb around 3000 ish

It would best to remove all Saturn roms, they cause the system to freeze up!
The weird refresh rate panel makes this unusable for me sadly. Hopefully cfw can fix it because I can't use mine lol
I don’t see that much of a difference to be honest when playing but I know it may be different for others
@@SonicLoveEmulation my gf couldn't really see it either, but trust me when you see it you can't not see it. I could see it in the video. It's a consequence of running what is normally 60 fps content on a 124hz panel. No clue where on earth they found a 124hz 480p panel lmao

@@Pridetoons lol yeah dude it's infuriating. For example, playing breath of fire 2 (so a slow RPG) it's so noticable I thought it was running at 50hz or something. It legit feels like a system wide frame skip sometimes 🤣

it’s a step up from any handheld in the rg range so far personally I really like it n64 is awesome Dreamcast is awesome Sega Saturn can run well anything below the above runs amazing with upscale the controls are great and the price is good
@@SonicLoveEmulation thanks Sonic, really appreciate your content. For me, I would like a similar design but with better ergonomics and more power to run N64 and GameCube flawlessly out of the box. I just got an RGB 20S so I'm going to wait a bit more before I get another.
