It’s funny you mention that, because especially on long passages like this we’ll sometimes sit out on deck and talk about “what we would do if” we saw a tsunami, or if we saw an alien ship, or got approached by a pirate ship, or saw some supernatural thing in the sky, etc… It’s fun and helps pass the time and we sort of connect as a family sharing what we’d think about wild crazy things happening! I don't understand your "sailing together" comment about Aquarius. Sidebar: I am a sailor, although on a much smaller monohull and in Florida coastal waters. But when I go on a trip with another boat, we stay within visual range. My boat is almost always lighter and faster, so in order to sail "together" I reduce sail. That way, if either of us has a problem, the other boat is within rescue, or at least assistance, distance. Granted, we are likely closer to other boats and the Coast Guard, but still, it's a safety issue. Since Zatari is faster, why did you leave first? Why are you knowingly sailing faster than Aquarius, thus increasing the distance between you? So if one of you hits a just below the surface steel cargo container and rips a four foot gash in one (or both) of your hulls, how long before the other boat can either catch up or go back and search for survivors? Or, what happens if one boat is hit by lightning and all radios, batteries and starter motors are fried? How would you find out that boat is in distress, and if you do, how do you find it? Perhaps these are not really issues because you both have plans and know how to overcome such potential emergencies. If so that's great. However, you said you were sailing together, for, I infer, mutual safety/support, but you're not sailing together. And, you did not say how you could mutually support each other over ever increasing distances. I would really like to know you handle this because I would want to incorporate your plans into my safety plan.
I am endlessly fascinated that after all this time and especially given how old Jack is that Keith has not completely handed the boat over to his son for weeks at a time to make sure he could command the vessel in the event of an emergency. Keith is an extraordinarily skilled human being: I doubt there's anything he couldn't fix. He knows how to fly, he knows how to command a boat and it just seems to me like in addition to school it would be fantastic if all three children were really learning how to commandeer a boat on an open passage and skillfully maneuver it into any kind of a difficult port. These kids have been on that boat way too long to not know how to do that. They obviously know how to handle the saild, rigging and various aspects of the boat, but again I'm just surprised that we never see Keith completely hand the boat over to Jack for a couple of weeks.
A woman I know thinks Jack is a handsome boy. I think he looks more like mum than dad but looks aren't all. He seems to be a kind, good natured guy. A credit to both parents. Africa is huge. Renee, I noticed your thinly veiled joy at Keiths new South African accent in this episode! It made me realize that in such an isolated environment that you guys have, you could basically have all the kids grow up with a South African accent.. if you and Keith just stick to the plan and speak in nothing but accent for say three years. Or perhaps a British posh accent. Or Klingon. It would be a bit time consuming, but the opportunities are endless!
Man seems like time in the Seychelles went by quick. I pray the African adventures are just as fun 🙏. Definitely looking forward to your safari, and hopefully you were able to manage securing a good reliable vehicle for your time there

Y’all want to rent your extra room out as an air in boat?! If nothing else it will be a fun jam session and fishing! Happy sailing! ❤️🙏🏻🇺🇸
As always, love watching your videos. Keith, I'm never going to be able to join you guys 'out there on the water', unless I hit a super lottery jackpot or something, and even then, probably won't. However, I still enjoy watching your videos and learning about sailing. So, since you guys are already in Tanzania and I don't expect any 'new' sailing videos for a while, would it be possible the next time you're doing passage to do a run down on all the sails you are using, how they're a controlled, what kind of wind angles you need for each and how they all work. As a pilot, (not current in 40 years) I realize that these sails are actually more like wingfoils, but others won't understand that, so a primer on how a sail actually works would be cool, too. I still want to know what instrument Kate is going to start playing. The family that plays music together stays together. :D
in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada we are paying 1.87 a liter to witch is equivalent to around 7.48 a gallon. So prices are up all over the place..and it hurts... John

One trick we learned in the USN (on a ship with less than great fresh water makers (evaporators on a big ship) is that one of the best soaps you can use (for a nice fresh water/rain water shower) is Zest soap (seems to work better (and the lather rinses off better) in not very much water (it also seems to cut the salt if you get in the ocean).

COG is not really "heading"; better to call it "track". It is not necessarily where the boat is pointing if there is any current running or any significant leeway.
Have you ever thought about what you’d do if you saw a big tsunami wave coming your way?
It’s funny you mention that, because especially on long passages like this we’ll sometimes sit out on deck and talk about “what we would do if” we saw a tsunami, or if we saw an alien ship, or got approached by a pirate ship, or saw some supernatural thing in the sky, etc… It’s fun and helps pass the time and we sort of connect as a family sharing what we’d think about wild crazy things happening!
Really enjoyable tune at 7min or so with the footage well done thank you!
Man seems like time in the Seychelles went by quick. I pray the African adventures are just as fun 🙏. Definitely looking forward to your safari, and hopefully you were able to manage securing a good reliable vehicle for your time there
I wish you many pleasant cruises and always a hand's breadth of water under the keel!
I'm really diggin' the music on your B-Roll segments. Great job Renee.
So wish we would have seen this before your class in May! We will be in your next class! We have a daughter Tara who is 16. My oldest daughter Deleigh whom I raised on my own since Deleigh was 2. Met Brian my amazing husband when she was 17. He had no children so at 40 we had our precious Tara! I was raised on the Gulf of Mexico and spent many days at sea! My Dad own his own charter fishing boat and in the safety boat industry for offshore rigs. Not sure at 57 and 63 and a 16 year old should embark on such an amazing way (I long to live) a reality! Y’all want to rent your extra room out as an air in boat?! If nothing else it will be a fun jam session and fishing! Happy sailing! ❤️🙏🏻🇺🇸
Beautiful viedo guys Rennie your shots of the sunset were spot on looking forward to seeing Africa..tropics are the best as far as I'm concerned 🏝
really liked the music this episode
John
Woohoo is my favorite! Now you just need our famous tater sauce! How do make yours or do you use it! My husband and brother are guitarist, loving the jam sessions! ❤️🙏🏻🎣
Love the video....whats the background music with the guitar as you leave the Seychelles? )
That’s pretty cool, out there sailing on the ocean blue. It’s fun just watching your channel. Take care and have a good one. 👍👍👍❤️Happy Sailing
TIP!! Get an 8 qt Instapot with air dryer! $99 at walmart! You can make your fried fish just as tasty with fewer calories and way less mess and work! Your home will stay cooler too! ❤❤❤❤
Very entertaining great shots take care Australia
The boy's priceless 🎶. Thank you for the upload so much enjoyed it.
Another excellent video. Thanks Zatara!
What do you think of the seawinds catamarans? Early 2000?
That's a nice boat but it has alot a moving part and alot a technology on it. How long could you make that vessel work if you couldn't get support for it? Parts, internet and the big one fuel
Thanks for a great vlog. But, I think Chris may have used Jimi Hendrix’s LIttle Wing for inspiration. His riff is quite similar. Ask Finn!
How did no one comment on Keith's "It's gonna be tremendous. It's gonna be tremendous" @26:53? The voice, the fingers and arms... hilarious! Keith turned to Renee laughing...
Flocking Awesome !
i think one thing that differentiates you guys is leaving comfortable places in favor of adventure
i love everything you are doing great family bonding. i have started to bond more with my family because we were split qhen i was 16 because we had some problems that reached a stage where i picked up a knive and my mum had to call police because me and my father would get in brawls. I had enough i said touch me or anyone gonna stab u,pretty dumb stuff from my side. I love my mum and she me but she always apoligizes for our childhood but she did so much and i love her dearly and this is one of our dreams to go out and sailing.
Love you guys! When Keith went see the quid skirts privates and said Ahhhh , LOL I LAUGHED OUT LOUD. I waited all day to watch this now. God bless each of you. Love you so much! Thank you for each of your videos and fun each of you have!
You are all such a wonderful family we just love you all to pieces ❤️❤️❤️
Hi guys love the videos and keep up the good work love you guys
I want to take your blue water cruising master class but I don’t have a fb profile anymore. Are there any other resources (books, websites, etc) that provide at least some of the same information you’re presenting?
I look to day a lot Your clips ! A lot by motor no in the wind! You are a schip for natuur Way you do this ? Thanks Jacqueline
COG is not really "heading"; better to call it "track". It is not necessarily where the boat is pointing if there is any current running or any significant leeway.
The boys have great taste in music!
Really hope u get to explore Zanzibar too. Esp the North, around Nungwi Beach.
Beautiful b-roll - well done !!
