Having lived in Central Africa for 2 years, I know there are Haves and Have Nots. Do be careful. Leaving Kate alone on the boat may not be the safest thing to do.
I hope they listen to you, I tried to tell them too. This isn’t the same as the coast of S America or the Indian Ocean, I am not in any way demeaning the indigenous people but it can be very dangerous there. It’s just a fact.
Loved how the whole family comes together in an emergency - that is a testament to you both on setting values for you kids. Wonderful to see! Love your videos as always. Stay safe!
Hell Jack has enough experience as a deckhand that he could actually use these vlogs to get a job as a Lead Deckhand or something more than just a jr. deckhand on a large yacht if he wanted to to make him some decent money.
Love the black hat on Dad! You almost have to be a jack of all trades to sail…. So many things that can go wrong. The Dad seems like he can do most anything.
Watching you all …. I don’t know how just two people could manage that boat by themselves. It takes a crew it looks like…. Fortunately, y’all have one.
Renee, another exciting video! When Jack was hoisting the quarantine banner you announced another country, then I heard “incontinance” and along with Jack raising the banner I thought oh lordie! Then I realized you said “…and continents” and I had a good laugh. 😆 Greeting from Texas🇺🇸.
I think Keith secretly likes when things break, as long as nobody gets hurt, just so he has another project to fix. Keith's the ultimate DIY'ER. The MacGyver of bluewater cruising ~ 💯% Facts! Cheers from Western Australia 🇦🇺.
Things happen quickly but always best to just take a minute and put on life jackets in rough weather. Things could have gone very wrong with the kids wrestling the sails in rough weather. Safety first.
Another great video ,Happy Birthday Renee. Think it’s 50 today 🎂🎂🎂🥂🫂🫂🌹🇬🇧 when things go wrong everyone is there to help what an amazing family you have ,I just love following you wherever you go Keith you are a man of great sailing knowledge and all the equipment on the boat you seam to be able to fix so much knowledge, till next time enjoy RENEE Birthday party, take care and keep safe John 🇬🇧🇬🇧🌹🫂🎂🎂🎂🎂👀🫣🤔🫢🤫🤭🤗♥️
Seeing all of those kids reminded me of when I was in the merchant marines, we would pull into different ports in Indonesia (Arun and Bontang). All the children would follow me around and the adults would try out their English with me. Fond memories.
Hey guys so excited for you and this trip to Africa can't wait to see the adventures in the videos that are ahead love you guys stay safe and stay healthy
Really enjoyed this episode. Appears y’all were excited to finally see land, then gear failure added to the episode and showed how well you all work together. I never had the courage to take on what you guys have and now I’m looking at forced retirement because I too old. Life goes so quickly.
One thing i love about this channel is that it does more sailing.. other channels do vacations on islands with less and less sailing.. and they (other sailing channels) talk and talk on and on in front of the camera like its a podcast .. we just want to see daily life chronicle of sailing families.. not daily sermon and life insights from sailors...
Kate is really maturing. It's good to see her again. She doesn't seem to crave the spotlight like her brothers. Love the boys too though. Safe travels!
Karibu Africa, greetings from Kenya!! Glad you made it safely with a little excitement at the end. Looking forward to catching more of your Tanzanian/Zanzibari adventures in the coming weeks. Asante sana!
I loved the friendliness of the locals. Once again a great video showing just how wrong the misconception of what we are force fed from the media vs the true reality. Never judge a book by it's cover or it's review. Go see and read it yourself. you'll rarely get disappointed!
The one thing that I will remember forever is the the kindness and innocence of the people of Tanzania when I was there. Some parts of that country felt like a world untouched by corruption and greed - especially out in the country where you could see the vastness of the land, it looked like the beginnings of the world. Love your channel guys.
Sorry about the dyneema fail guys...go strong and harder..you're the best...family full of hardworking members...been watching the episodes via TV but i guess i gotta subscribe and be watching through my phone. Interesting journey.
Great family and great job overcoming the breakage. Love watching I love sailing also. Keep up the good work and really love your family and the togetherness.
Another great video! I hope you are enjoying East Africa. I've spent many weeks in Tanzania and love it there. Christians make up about 60% of the population, but most of the Muslim population lives along the coast, so there it might be 70% Muslim. Hope you have time to get out to the Serengeti. It is magical.
This is so exciting! I can't wait for next week's video. I'm so glad Jack started his channel for an extra dose of your adventures. --Jessica from Florida 🌞
,👍 never thought about the meaning of , off it's rocker .,till you mentioned the anchor today ,It's funny how you use phrases all the time withought thinking how they came about.,🤗
"Eeew... I got crosses on my ears..." "Yeh, well, they're gonna hang her up..." I'm still rolling and laughin'... I love you guys. All of you. All 6 of you.
I love the way you guys work as a team. I don't hear any yelling and screaming. But yelling because of the weather and you have to use your voice. But I'm glad you guys work together has a family. Love watching you guys on Thursday morning drinking coffee. Love you guys. Stay safe
I want to say that it is awesome it was to watch Jack, Finn, and Kate all working together to get the lines and sails secured during the squalls. I don't think that most teens today, at least here in the States, would be able, willing, or even understand the need, to do what they did. They are most certainly getting a world-class education in all things. Both of you, Keith and Renee, should be very proud of the way you raised your kids. Keith, as I mentioned in a previous comment, I really would love to see you share on sails, lines, etc. For example, what IS a reef in a sail? What's a genoa versus a spinnaker. I'm not going to ever be out there on the water, and I'm not going to take a seat in your Masterclass away from someone else, but I'd still like to have that information.
Pretty impressive how everybody worked together to take care of those fixes and knock out the work to get the boat back in order. Great family trust and teamwork.
Hey guys I'm from South Africa, love the show. if u go down south plssss plssss visit cape town and table mountain it is something really unique and it's worth the trip 100%. Safe travels enjoy Africa. also, try a dish called curry its to die for.
Hello McFly....bearing off downwind and blanketing the sail would have made your job much more easy. Please tell me your class will not include any sailing advise and techniques. Good job on the dive practice, could this been because of my advise? 😉
Man, Jack would be an awesome lead deckhand or be great to go into a course to be a ship officer when he's ready to start a career. But also seeing him interact with kids, he'd be an awesome camp councilor that all the kids would remember.
Started watching you guys just before Covid. We were all a little freaked-out and I was un certain of your attitudes….2+ years later I really enjoy your posts but more importantly the way your children are maturing. You done made a fine bunch of humans! My hat is off to you.
Jack and Finn perfect score for effort on the synchronized diving unfortunately the form was a little off. 😁 Renee your editing as always is perfection, your story telling in all your post is complete and satisfying. Y’all stay safe and healthy. Always in my prayers! Tell Keith this would be the place to wear that not so Texan hat.
Those kind of things make you wonder how people sail alone or even with two people….and some couples have babies, seems it takes a crew to make it happen and be safe !!! Blessings
You guys were so calm while sailing through all that bad weather. I would have been hiding inside. Lol. Loved how excited the little kids were to interact with you guys.
Seeing you in Tanzania filled my heart.. Lived and built a school in Arusha for two years.. changed my life forever and i've been longing to go back to Mother Africa. Also Zanzibar is breathtaking..
Just found show while I been in bed resting from sickness. Absolutely luv the series ! Great show! You should do an entire episode on cooking and prep while in the open ocean! Stay safe
I appreciate the Zatara imprint you leave in each country you discover. What a blessing to your family the education only those who travel abroad can achieve. And what a blessing you leave with the locals your friendship and smiles bring ❤️
As you sail further south you will encounter the Southern Hemisphere winter. Our winter In Zimbabwe is dry and cloudy.Cape Town depending will get the south east winds.I remember back when i was about a kid they put ropes between the lamp posts to hold onto, that was at the Green Point Lighthouse beach front.Cape Town is a special city no doubt.Enjoy your time in Africa.
A master class for my birthday 🎉, May 27th is the day. See you then. You guys were cruising along, glad it was a safe passage. Thanks for another great video. I am jealous of the warm temps, we have been having a wet, cold spring in the PNW. You ever need crew I want to be the first to apply, I can cook, clean! Lol
Does he KNOW what a lucky man he is?? To have a beautiful wife and kids. And how many others would give there right leg to be doing what he is. Your children are lerning from not just you two but the world. Im sure your kids will have there own boats in the future. You dont just start living like you do.. you worked your whole life for this. Which you have earned. Dan its nice living though your eyes thanks you LUCKY SO-
Jambo guys glad you made it to East Africa. May and June are the wettest months at the islands. We spent them there last year as well. It literally buckets with rain. Pemba island is also where we had our worst storm in the region. It was at midnight and we dragged 500m on our anchor. The rain was horizontal in the pitch dark we had our engines running in case. The worst storms come from the west even though the weather is usually from the north east.. Like yourselves we were the only yacht up there on our 2 visits and Pemba is spectacular but I’m sure you will enjoy Zanzibar as well particularly the north . You even have a great marina to leave the boat in stonetown which is safe. By the time you guys get back from South Africa you will find the winds every day being southerly winds this will be like this consistently until September when the winds change to north east again. They are like a clock these winds and have been for a few hundred years. Kusi(southerly) and the Kaskazi (north easterlies) are the 2 seasons of winds. Don’t forget to sail down to Dar es Salaam and anchor at the slipway which is right in the heart of the city. Lovely restaurants right there and easy to get an Uber to the mall to shop for provisions.. enjoy the place as we did for 5 months last year before sailing south at the end of September down to Cape Town.
We typically like to watch your episodes on our LG 65” OLED as the colours and clarity of your video’s are pretty spectacular. It was a bit scary and wonderful to see the Captains quick thinking and solution to what was a difficult situation. Great job everyone. Glad the sail didn’t blow Fin overboard trying to secure it in the hold. Those winds look pretty aggressive. Glad everyone is okay. Amazing Rainbow and work by your videographer Renee!
Beautiful country the village kids are so well behaved lovely to see great vibe .Till next week have fun going to rain here tomorrow here in Hobe Sound fl we need it👍⛵
That was an exciting passage… i am glad that the bowsprit incident was not too serious… and Keith’s splicing abilities are really cool! Tanzania and Pemba look really interesting … awesome kids 😃. Can’t wait to meet you guys in Cape Town next week… hope you’re all well and enjoying SA now 👍😃

The look on Keith’s face at the very end - a challenge overcome - is one we all know. Proud mariner. Nice job 😁

Glad to see a sailing channel where you actually sail. Bravo
Curious if you’ve considered hosting individuals with your family during crossings or at ports of calls. Would be such an amazing experience.
Love this show and a lot of the places you have been to are beautiful. Keep up the great work every one.
Really enjoyed this episode. Appears y’all were excited to finally see land, then gear failure added to the episode and showed how well you all work together. I never had the courage to take on what you guys have and now I’m looking at forced retirement because I too old. Life goes so quickly.
I’m 36 and I’m not too young for Casablanca. It’s an awesome film Renee! Try it, you won’t be disappointed.
Another fantastic video Renee it’s good to seethe boys
working together hope you have a blast on the kite boards

Oh my gosh!! How cute are those kids?!? Have so much fun in Africa!
Your journey sounds like something from the movies. Thrilling to watch them!
Kate is really maturing. It's good to see her again. She doesn't seem to crave the spotlight like her brothers. Love the boys too though. Safe travels!
Okay. This was the first time I clicked on Zatara before Kara & Nate. Kudos to you! Great RUclips channel.

Finn is awesome! "Hey dad, good job team!" as he fist bumps his dad.
Strong winds, Keith hanging perilously on to the anchor, storm coming. Does anyone ever wear safety harnesses and flotation devices?
Glad you made it!
Hey guys! You really need to check out the new portable starlink antenna. that way when you’re on passage you will have internet connection!
So excited to see all your Africa adventures.
Now Zingaro and Zatara both had their forestay snap. You came out more lucky in how you could recover from that. Best!
Great family and great job overcoming the breakage. Love watching I love sailing also. Keep up the good work and really love your family and the togetherness.

Truly a tense time. The seasoned Zatara crew dealt with the challenge flawlessly!
Nothing like the Z crew on a Thursday when I’m taking my lunch break 👌
This is so exciting! I can't wait for next week's video. I'm so glad Jack started his channel for an extra dose of your adventures. --Jessica from Florida 🌞

Synchronized diving - most excellent. What an adventure!!
Greetings from Texas,, stay safe. It’s exciting to see some adventures and your keeping your precious family safe
2:38 that almost knocked you out sir! LOL
the spliced is called a Brummell splice it interlocks the rope so it cannot undo itself.
Awesome. Can’t wait to see your African adventures!!! 👍🏻
That sudden burst of wind is called a microburst. It can bring down commercial jets, so I would be cautious with these. Smooth sailing....
Hello McFly....bearing off downwind and blanketing the sail would have made your job much more easy. Please tell me your class will not include any sailing advise and techniques. Good job on the dive practice, could this been because of my advise? 😉
Great job on handling that bowsprit issue!
Finn should have played "Africa" by Toto on his guitar though: "I blessed the rains down in Africa! " :-D
I love this, getting to see the whole world. How great is this?????Your boat in huge.
Those precious children!! Love the smiles
When white women arrive in Africa, the first thing they do is grab the nearest baby and take a picture.
Kids are lucky to having such a great mom and dad.stay safe.
Outstanding Team Work!!!
Keith is Captain Fixit‼️💥🏆🇺🇸🏝️🤩💪

They had all hands on deck, and enough left over for a camera.
You guys were so calm while sailing through all that bad weather. I would have been hiding inside. Lol.
Loved how excited the little kids were to interact with you guys.
The boys are sure good at back-flips. Loved seeing the community greet your family. Great video.
The people were very welcoming to you guys and the baby was so beautiful, it looked like a babydoll.🥰

Thanks! Welcome to our crazy world!!
Thanks guys, another amazing video! Keep up the great work and please stay safe. Good job Keith on the new stays!
You went thru some nasty storm just before arrival! That bar that broke or came loose, I hope it is an easy fix Keith. 🤗🌹👍❣️
Another outstanding vlog!!! Always love my ☕☕and my Zatara fam⛵🌊
Keith is a jack of all trades, and also a master of all trades.
Some of my favorite stuff all in one. Sailing, fixing stuff (would love to learn splicing) and visiting new places/people.
New country and new continent! That’s fantastic! What a great lifestyle and thank you for sharing your adventures with us.
I appreciate the Zatara imprint you leave in each country you discover. What a blessing to your family the education only those who travel abroad can achieve. And what a blessing you leave with the locals your friendship and smiles bring ❤️
