I absolutely felt the presence of God here...her voice is so...affecting..it sends chills through me. her voice is so beautiful and painful and powerful. I had tears running down my face. She's gone through something and its such a privilege we can hear this.

Yebba wrote this song, and this performance of it just feels like she ripped her heart out and left it bleeding on the stage floor. This performance was SO emotional ... what with the guttural wailing she did. At several points in the song, I thought she was going to completely lose it and start crying. But she held it together, providing us with a beautiful performance.

Her dad is a preacher, out of West Memphis, Arkansas. She grew up singing gospel. Her favorite are The Clark Sisters. She signed her record deal immediately after this performance. She has since won a Grammy for her collaboration with PJ Morton.

It was actually after this performance. Heartbreaking, nonetheless.
She wrote this song specifically for this performance and this was the first time she ever recorded it. She had originally said she wasn't going to release a studio version of this song because this performance was the definitive version of the song and wouldn't get any better than this. But I did see it as a single on Spotify so maybe she did re-record it or maybe it's a cleaned up version of this live performance. I haven't listened to it because this is my favorite version and I don't need to hear another version of it.
