Just to comment on y’alls critique of her range, I can understand how you would think that based of this soul performance. What I don’t think you have consider from a professional point of view, she is reading you the text book to contemporary singing. One of the things with contemporary vocals is that meaning matter more that technique, as long as its not detrimental to your voice, what yebba was conveying with the cracking of her voice was her emotional state cracking. If you’d like other examples of her vocal ability just check out Gravity by her and clark beckham. Trust me she HAS the range honey. She should be a legend based on this sole performance.
Yes to everything you said. But also....she hit the same note without cracking as well in this exact performance, which should have made it clear that it was done for emotive affect, not out of lack of ability,
Just listen to the note she starts the song on.. and her higher runs.. this IS range! Range is not just high pitch. She can go very low and just as high too.
The little crack at the top of the “dog” run was for emotive effect..... She hit the same note earlier later in the performance when she was still building up before her emotions took over. If cracks like that meant someone lacks vocal range than you can’t explain Steven Tyler, Fantasia, Tori Kelly, Hayley Williams and many others.
She is not lacking emotions.. she's trying not to fall apart as she delivers very emotional lyrics about her relationship heartbreak.. one week after she lost her mother to suicide. So she's basically legitimately trying not to lose her mind and burst into tears as she performs.
Can people stop spreading bullshit just because they read it on the internet from some random nobody? Her mother died **after** this performance, not before.
This ain’t isn’t about her personal breakup. It’s about the infidelities of her dad towards her mother. She saw the consequences of her dad cheating on her mom and this song is the story of that part of her life.
I’ve seen a few of your reactions and all I have to say is I really enjoy your input but I couldn’t disagree more ont the part about the “faking the emotion” or whatever this is ONE of the most known emotional vocals known today
“Holy shit.” The exact response her voice deserves. Haha I’ve been watching this performance religiously for 3 years! So glad you guys reacted to this! Her cover of gravity with Clark Beckham is wonderful too! 🖤
The more I listen to this song, the more I can see all the stages of emotion throughout. She starts calm and then surprised and disbelief with news of her man cheating. Im about to lose my mind. Then she a lot of crying sounds as she feels the betrayal and sadness. Then she calms down from the crying and thats when the buildup to a steady loud tone at the end. This song is really unconventional to many songs you hear since most songs dont put that much emotion to it. Only major song that had so much emotion that I remember is " and I am telling you " from dreamgirls. I bet there are others but that is the one song I actually feel it.
the little soft "runs of hesitation"s in between the 'no way no way' lines are also such a contrast, like really loosing one's mind... "no way no way she can't take you away from me (*runs* I'm weak, do I really mean it? Yea I do *run ends*) no way no way.. she WON'T take you away... "
This is so unexpected, but YEBBA is wonderful singer, always cry watching that performance , is so emotional. P.S. Please react to Beyoncé: Run The World (Girls)- live Billboard Award
This is actually one of the most emotional performances I’ve ever seen... it’s a performance built out of emotion, not only focusing on the notes (which she has), this emotion makes the performance full and beautiful.
Luís Fernando Campos exactly. She has complete control of her instrument unlike any singer today. The squeak was intentional. The song is pure emotion. Everything was done for the song to be emotive not just technically accurate.
YEBBA is truly one of the most underrated singers out there, and if you guys loved this her cover of Gravity with Clark Beckham would totally have y’all ascend 😂😂😂💁🏽♀️🥰
"I don't do drugs man" lmao that killed me! Thanks for the laugh after watching several reactions to this song, I needed that little break from the heartbreaking emotion.
This was a genuine performance she went through a bad break up and her mom killed herself shes about crying. Her range is unbelievable. She’s one of the best singers of our time. You need to watch her sing more. She has an amazing range and there is nothing she can’t do singing. You two aren’t worthy of critiquing somebody of this caliper. She’s getting ready to cry the audience was completely mesmerized by her performance it was very real. You two are the comedians. Only people that didn’t see the amazing talent.
This song is 100% about the story. No need for vocal acrobatics or solo guitar riffs. It’s the story of her dad being unfaithful to her mom. This is a true masterpiece of storytelling through song.
I am astonished that you can’t feel the emotion shooting out of this woman. This was right before her mom committed suicide. Ed Sheeran co signed her and cried at this song.
It's called SOUL. And f.y.i she is American. I respect Adele's vocal talent but Yebba is on a whole different level. Y'all better put some respect on her name. Yebba's range is unmatched. PERIODT!!!!!!
I'm so glad you guys reacted to this. This was the video that introduced me to Yebba and I'm probably 100 of those 14 million views. Lol. Her raw emotion left me speechless. Her style is very gospel. She's definitely a Clark Sisters fan and has been influenced by them.
She’s my new found discovery too! I just reacted to this song on my channel! So good! I’m a new fan of hers. She looks similar to the old Adele not 2020 Adele lol
Bowzer’s reaction Pit omg 😱 wow thank you so much! I mentioned you guys in one of my videos because I love you guys so much and I think everyone should watch your reactions! ❤️
So glad to see you guys reacting to this. It is such an emotional song, it just gut punches you. I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen you guys look so stunned before, love it. She actually has a great vocal range and in this performance she does a lot of runs and riffs. She was actually co-signed to Ed Sheeran’s label. She wrote and recorded this song a week after her mother committed suicide. She chose to change her stage name from Abbey to Yebba to honor her mother, it was a nickname her mother called her. Great reaction guys! Also, I’ve seen a lot of people react or commented on this performance and say the crowd wasn’t great, they didn’t react during the performance. They were told beforehand not to react too much because the performance was being recorded.
OMG YALL REACTED TO MY FAVEEE, one of the best singers out there!! You wanna react to some of the other best singers out there??? React to JAZMINE SULLIVAN and AMBER RILEY to start with
If you listen to the words, you would understand what she's conveying. Yes, it's a build up...she's going crazy. The cracks are intentional, envision the breaking of a woman scorned. She definitely has the range. This video is about 5 years old. She's already won a Grammy with PJ Morton. OMG Guys!!! LOL This was her first professional solo set. Well, Ed Sheeran's team signed her immediately following this song. The story of the song is real.
This is not recent...about 5 years old. She was signed immediately after this performance by Ed Sheeran's team. This was her first set as featured solo artist.
@@avionterria7855 dawg. by “recent” he didnt mean relatively recent to the day they saw it, they meant her suffering was recent to that performance (which it was).
I love Yebba, and i agree with the "squeak" in the middle there, lol. I feel like if she tried she could give us some quality whistle tones like 90s Mariah Carey in "Emotions"!
Please do her Evergreen official Live Performance, it's a song about her mother who sadly committed suicide a week after this performance. Edit: and Sofar is a pop-up performance type thing. You sign up for a certain area and they only tell you the exact location the day of. You don't know who's performing.
Please react to her live performance of Evergreen and Gravity with Clark Beckham next... she’s amazing. Such a powerful and soulful voice. She’s heavily influenced by gospel and soul singers.
You NEED to watch Yebba and Clark Beckham Gravity. I think you will appreciate her more. She’s absolutely amazing and they both have amazing range!. It’s really a GREAT cover.
she found out her mother committed suicide after this performance. She wrote Evergreen about her mother, you should react to her performance of Evergreen on BEats 's channel live in a cathedral

She is emoting, which, in my opinion, is far more enjoyable to listen to than technical singing and, might I add, far more difficult to do than just singing in a technically correct manner.
Great reaction guys. Bowzer... looks like you were a little emotional at the point when she first said, "No way, she can't take you away from me..." I only say this because your nose started to get a little red. Should check out some of Yebba's other stuff she's amazing.
She is crying, without shedding a tear.. The first time I heard this song, I thought it was about the overwhelming anguish felt when one is confronted by irrefutable evidence of their lover’s infidelity.
