That was her first public performance.....so epic. She is a preachers daughter that grew up singing in church. Her mother tragically took her own life 3 weeks after this performance and that of course impacted her greatly....she changed her name to Yebba because it was one of her mothers favorite nicknames for her. She has performed with some big names as well as released some amazing solo work.
the raw emotion in this performance is heartbreakingly beautiful. Her range is absolutely insane.
She grew up in West Memphis, Arkansas as a preacher’s kid. She said that one of her biggest influences was the Clark Sisters. She has so much soul. Other ones you should definitely check out her cover of “Gravity” with Clark Beckham and for more recent “Boomerang” and her tiny desk concert is absolute perfection 🤌🏻

Despite lots of people blown away by her vocals Yebba has relesaed very little. This performance is 6 years old now. She has popped up on the odd guest vocals but her own work has been limited to a couple of tracks & one album in 2021. She was signed to Ed Sheerans label & is now signed to RCA. Hopefully she won't just vanish or be a nearly was, she has the voice but she needs the songs.

Her given name is Abbey...but after her mom's death she changed it to Yebba ( abbey reversed) it was what her mom used to call her so sad for her loss....She has an amazing voice

Yebba is amazing! Her style of singing reminds me of Kaz Hawkins - (check out her album version of Feelin’ Good or Hallelujah) and the only other singer I ever saw show that much emotion was when Beth Hart w/Joe Bonamassa sung “I’d rather go blind” (it’s on youtube). It’s awesome to see /feel someone young like Yebba not afraid to make me feel her emotions when she sings! love it!!
The emotion in her voice sounds a little like Alison moyet. Sadly her mother passed away a week before she sang this live. I came here after pj Morton and Yerba how deep is you love jumped into my tick too. It was such a soulful and angelic experience from the both of them whom I have beaver heard of before. Now listening to everything they do. 😊 impressed

What gets me is the people there. Don't seem to realize what they have just witnessed. Politely claping. Man I would have been on my feet whooping & wailing. You can not rehersa a performance. It's something that just happens. When you immerse yourself in the song & lyrics. And just let it go where it takes you. Seen this a lot of times & it still has the same effect. If you allow it you can feel every emotion she puts into this performance.
So glad this was caught on film.

Finally! So good. Her mother committed suicide I believe just weeks before this performance. So the song is two fold, about losing her mom to mental health battle. Check out her tiny desk! Her voice is like no other!
I haven't even been in a relationship since high school and this still leaves me in tears, that's how well she manages to translate her pain. Performance of a lifetime. By the way, Kxng Crooked and Joell Ortiz sampled this song for their track of the same name, which was also great.
Her use of dynamics, emotion and runs combined together are unbeatable. I'd be curious to see if she sings it a little differently every time or not.

Yebba is an underrated gem! A still undiscovered star! She should be a household name, she is that good. I see a lot of people comparing her to Adele --- she far surpasses Adele in my book, in style and in pure unadulterated talent.
