      I agree. It's so beautifully done that I absolutely love it, but I'm also profoundly uncomfortable because it's so intensely personal. This doesn't stop me from watching it over and over again, but every time I feel like I should apologize to her for intruding.

    I think when she said at the end “that’s that one” she literally had to disconnect her emotions from the song, because she went really deep and had to come back to the present.

    I was introduced to Yebba (birth name: Abbey) some months ago via YT reaction videos. This performance chokes me up; she's singing her profound heartbreak, sorrow, loss, grief...and her mother took her own life around this time, which is beyond sad. ~ Please consider reacting to Yebba's song, "Evergreen", and her duet of, "Gravity". TY! 🙂

    I love this song..I think when she says “That’s that one” she may be trying not to get too emotional on stage. Around the time this song was put out she also lost her mother to suicide. So I think she was trying real hard not to let it get to her while still trying to be soulful during the performance itself

    Yebba’s mom passed away either the day before or day of this performance. So that raw gut wrenching heartache your hearing is coming from the pain of that. But, I find it absolutely beautiful that she could redirect that emotion & emote the hell outta this song

  • @jen.g.
    @jen.g. 4 года назад +22

    Oh HELL yes!!! I’d say Adele with some Aretha Franklin. This was a fun watch. Glad I caught it so early. Apparently her mom died not long before this performance, so that made it extra emotional. As far as another Yebba suggestion, try “Gravity” or “Evergreen”.
    Also, I just saw and met Jinjer last weekend. SO great live...and so sweet in person. Tatiana hugged me unexpectedly.

    now you have entered the world of Abbey Smith...(Yebba) you guys really NEED to do "Clark Beckham - Gravity feat. Abbey Smith by John Mayer" Abbey Smith AKA Yebba This is one of the most powerful duets done in recent years IMO

  • @erinhafer228
    @erinhafer228 4 года назад +13

    In my opinion, Yebba and Beth Hart are the two most gifted and passionate singers around. Please react to her music video for Evergreen, it’s absolutely spectacular! She did that music video right after her mother committed suicide, it’s really quite moving. And if I’m not mistaken, the church it was filmed was the church her mother attended.

  • @saybanana

    Abbey (YEBBA) Smith is an amazing singer-songwriter. Her range and emotions are so good. She was this underground singer off the radar until this video My Mind. Now so many reactions and even covers of this song. I've been listening a lot to her other videos on youtube. Gravity (John Mayer cover) with Yebba/ Clark Beckham. Clark Beckham was an American Idol contestant, with this amazing distinct voice, you should do reaction, yet still unknown. I also like SWV's cover of Weak. Also featured in PJ Morton in How Deep is Your love where they won a Grammy award. Evergreen is a great song of hers, too. Also Smoke by Levenson where she is featured. But This year she is blowing up having done duets with Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith. and featured in Marc Ronson. The music industry is brutal in that it doesnt allow many artists to get exposed or get the fame. Hundreds of great artists in singing that never get that level. I'm glad Abbey is one of those getting noticed and starting to get a big name for herself.

    hi! 🙆🏾
    you misunderstood her saying what she said at the end.. she's been through quite a lot, which you probably already know by now re:
    how her mother suffered serious, deep, clinical depression for many years & killed herself.. so, please don't be fooled by what she said at the end.. she shared *quite enough* emotion with the audience with that song alone.
    and, hopefully you've seen her song, well, one of her other songs, "*Evergreen,*" by now, which is about her mother - the version recorded in the church with a choir is the one you *don't* want to miss.
    well, she *dedicated* at least 1 other song to her mother a few weeks after she took her own Life *["Where Do You Go??" with Ed Sheeran in Puerto Rico],* but *"Evergreen,"* that's the one i'm meaning first.
    and yes, *Yebba & Adele* are both great vocalists, both beautiful & gently rounded - and *"My Mind"* is definitely a melancholic song, like what Adele sings, mostly...
    but only, imho maybe, they're not at all alike, definitely *not* re: their vocal stylings. 😯
    *until* you mentioned, if Adele & Beth Hart 'had a baby,' it might grow up to sing a bit like Yebba.. *that,* i can understand, kind of get behind, as at least somewhat of a possibility.👍
    in any case thanks for taking the time to make & upload this reaction video, guys.🙋🏾

    I agree with you there. I am a vocal coach and I always like to emphasize how a song starts with the first note of the intro and the very last note. Vocalists sometimes forget about the instrumental part of the song. The guitarist is also there to create that mood. Her performance is fantastic but that quick “that’s that” broke the pain vibe too soon. Maybe it was too intense and she had to get out of that mood but it was too soon (not by much). I am so impressed by her vocal agility. She is wonderful.

    I think you guys got it right. She's a bit shy and reserved (and also humble) unless she's performing, and that is where her ability to project pain and passion shows itself. I just LOVE her, and I also love Beth Hart and Adelle. But I can't think of a single performer who can project pain and passion like she does. At certain points in this song, she's not such much singing as she is WAILING -- I think if you revisit the video you'll see what I'm talking about.

    That is one of my favorite all-time singing performances on YT. I've watched it hundreds of times and still get emotional when I watch these reactions. Wow. Another Yebba suggestion is her duo cover of John Mayer's "Gravity" with Clark Beckham. They take you to Church with their performance and you'll know what I mean when you're about halfway through the song. Amazing!
    When you have a chance, would you please do a reaction of 15-year old Courtney Hadwin? Last year she got 56+ million views on her AGT audition at the age of 13!!! In the past few months, she's released a set of four covers done pretty professionally here - ruclips.net/channel/UCJ0UIOws33p5zRE6Eul3rlw All 4 songs are good - 2 slow ballads and 2 up-tempo songs. Even in the ballads, you hear her spine-tingling, raspy rock voice for a few seconds. My suggestion is to listen to "Old Town Road" first. She took a hip-hop + country fusion song and completely changed it to a rock n roll song!
    P.S. Love the Steelers hat!!!
