Grooming A Very Fluffy, Longhaired Cat | Belly Clip

- Longhaired Cat, Loli needed a thorough groom over today as her coat had become very thick and had started to matt in places. We also opted for a belly clip as she had some rather large matts developing around all the leg joints. At least as the fur starts to grow back, Mum will be able to keep the grooming sessions a little shorter as that dense belly fur has gone for a while.
Our longhaired cats do take a lot of looking after, but if you make it a habit every day for just a few minutes, then it will save your cat from getting matted.

Oh, I love how fluffy Loli is!!!! Do our kitties get drier skin as they age?
Yes they can Areeba. Just like us! A number of things can cause dry skin such as diet, age, living conditions (air con, central heating) health issues etc. They best thing for them is for us to help keep their coats in tip top condition with regular grooming sessions. It's also super relaxing for most cats and it helps bond owner and cat with that loving relationship.
Just ordered the comb and shaver. WISH me luck with the shaver..kitty is full of mats..First year..shes getting old..will have to brush daily from now on.
Do you use a guard on the shaver?
What advice/tips do you have for a cat who will not be still when you try to groom them? It's such a struggle bc my cat will not just lay there and let me groom. He tries to get away from the first pass of the comb and he gets matted so easily bc he has a very thick undercoat.
You did awesome . I would have shaved her completely she has alot off hair.
Definitely need belly cut she has lot hair
Lollie is going to feel like a new woman!
How do you comb the belly? Asking for advise. My rag doll does not like his belly combed and just had to have some Matt’s shaved off his belly.
Hi Rebecca, thanks for your question. It all comes down to grooming every day and insisting every day that you try to do the belly area too. So to start with, every time you groom, run your hands down lower and lower until you can get your fingers gently underneath his sides so that you can at least touch his side belly fur. Then you can move on from there by gently pushing him over onto his side while stroking him and again over time, move your hand to stroke his belly. This can take a while to get him to build up the trust with you but eventually you will then be able to introduce the zoom groom to his tummy very gently rubbing it over that area. You can never rush a cat, just keep on insisting that you want to touch his belly area on a daily basis and eventually you will succeed. Just don't give up after a few days, keep going.
@@LoveCatsGroomer thank you for this valuable information. I have a Persian cat with matts on his belly but he doesn't allow me to touch his belly let alone shave it. I will try as you suggested.
Where can I find the mounting comb and zoom groom?
Hi there and thanks for watching my videos. Every video has links to all my tools used in the comments. Have a look there. Then you can find something similar online where ever you are in the world.
@@LoveCatsGroomer thank you! I purchased the comb you use and have been gradually introducing it to our cat, Wyatt. He’s part Maine Coon and his fur gets quite long and Matt’s easily. I started using it under his chin and around his neck where he likes to be scratched. Instead of hissing and running he began purring and tolerating very brief grooming. I watched his body language and stopped if he looked restless. Often with pets and reassurance he’ll let me comb him a bit more. Today for the first time, he let me comb his flanks and tummy and purred through the whole session! We both enjoyed it which is a welcome change. Thank you so much for taking the time and effort to create these videos which teach not only what to use, but how to gain your pet’s trust to let you use them. You are a blessing!
Such a sweet kitty. And the most gorgeous green eyes.
