I have recently adopted a 2yr old Maine Coon who was in perfect condition when we got him but we have not been able to groom him properly. I contacted the breeder for advice, thinking she would demand his return, but she has suggested I find a professional groomer, such as yourself, to strip his underbelly and legs exactly as you have done to Ozzy. I was so pleased to find this video and to see how he looks afterwards. Ozzy is still a gorgeous boy, just as I hope Dandylion will look after his visit to the groomers. Thanks so much for putting my mind at rest.

I can hardly believe how calm you manage to keep this cat, you really anticipate his attempts to escape and calm him down when he needs it. That seems to me like at least 50% of the skill here :), loved the video!

Thank you very much Roxane. Yes, after 5 years of grooming I can usually pick up on what their next move is. Sometime's I'm not quick enough, but for the majority of the time I can anticipate what they are going to attempt to do. And keeping them calm is the number one thing for a groomer, there is no point having a cat on the table that is on high alert, because you are just asking for trouble!

That's why I said to his Mum she needs to get him used to grooming now while he is young, cox if he' s left, once he's a bigger, stronger boy, if he decides he doesn't want to be groomed, then it will be a difficult task for her.

I love my maine, Ollie! He is such a well mannered boy. He had a very deep, large matt on his side, that literally pulled itself off him. Luckily I was able to shave the rest of the matt off him and I used a lidocaine patch over the bare skin. He feels so much better.

That is great news. Glad he is feeling so much better with that gone. If you keep brushing him with the moulting comb with the technique I show for grooming, then this will prevent him from getting any more matts in the future. Another Ollie - it's a popular name.

My Maine Coon looks almost identical. He acts like this too. They’re so smart! He stays one step ahead of my movements to shield where you’re trying to work. Not an easy cat to groom to say the least!

So they could be related? It's amazing how many people have cats all over the world that look like twins!
Yes I have to agree. You can just feel them when they are about to pop. You always have to try and stay one step ahead of them but cats are very cunning as we all know!

I am actually looking into doing a grooming tutorial in the Metaverse!
That way, I can teach thousands of people from the comfort of their own homes but on a live class so they can ask questions etc live. Technology these days!

We have an outdoor run for our cats. I think our Maine Coon is far too friendly and would go to anyone. No such thing as loyalty where there are biccies involved.

Hi there Tracy, I got them made to measure from a company called CHAPS in the US. I have had them for years and they are well worth the money. They have protected me from what could have been some nasty bites and scratches over the years.

Could you please help me. I lost my mother in December, and she’s left me three beautiful Norwegians. Blaize is my main problem. He is absolutely clagged up. I did make a start on his shaving, but I’m really concerned. Where I’ve shaved (on his back, near his tail), he’s made it red raw with over washing. I’m so worried to continue if that’s going to keep happening. He really needs doing. He’s done so well, lost one of his back legs from cancer. He’s Mummies boy so I absolutely must do my best for him.
The other two do not have the same problems with their coats, so I’m ok on that one. Any advice would be truly appreciated

Use olive oil. There’s videos on RUclips on it. I have à Mainecoon and have already noticed it looses the hair off his skin! Waiting now for the mat to fall of over the next 5days

You have to be careful on the belly or you will cut off their nipples.
