You guys will be relieved to know that we’ve taken it down to revise the design! Actually did this before the video came out! It can DEFINITELY be improved. Respond to this and let us know how we can make this thing better💪🏼

I think it looks pretty good but i would 1) seal the back so it's watertight so if any moisture does collect on the back of it then it has the opportunity to just roll down and off when it dries, and can get plenty of air circulation. 2) I think maybe the side facing the rest of the bathroom needs to have something that goes wall to wall and up to the ceiling that hides the carabiners from view. Other than that, stick with it and enjoy the creative lighting that you dreamt up. It won't be for everyone, and it may not be for you later, but you made it easily removable if you change your mind later and don't want it any more. Great job!

I love everything you guys do, but it's a hard pass for me on this one. You've essentially lowered a nice high ceilinged shower, made the ceiling black, added a bunch of unnecessary indirect lighting, and obstructed the exhaust fan with a 150+ pound monstrosity that is going to be collecting dust, moisture and mildew. What was the point of the nice low-profile exhaust fan when you're just going to cover it up?
That bathroom is starting to look like it belongs in a strip club. Pump the brakes on the LEDs guys.
I say all that with love. I'm a longtime subscriber and will continue to be.

For the ries and umid environment, I would have used an abs box with some marine heat shrink and cable glands to keep the moisture out. Nice design with the back lighting. I would like to think that you thought thru your wiring design and connections. I'm a retired electrician with some experience and think that you are setting yourself up for future problems and electrical failure. That soffet is in a high humidity space with an exhaust fan that channels the humid exhaust over your electrical boxes and your wifi connection block. None of those components are protected from the condensation that is going to form, not only on the outside of the metal box but also on your connections. You planned for humidity and condensation with the installation of the correct type of duplex recept for the ceiling application. The components/wiring, mavbe not so much. Suggestions: Put all the components in a NEMA 12 or some other watertight box to avoid the hazards of moisture on electrical components . I also see a mold problem with that fixture in your future. Sorry to be a downer because I really enjoy your channel. Your willingness to try different methods and materials are really educational and entertaining. Stay safe and keep those videos coming. This comment might be a bit late, but water and moisture from steam will sit inside that LED channel and create a breeding grounds for mold and mildew. Even with weep holes drilled into the bottom of the channel, the drainage will most likely not be 100%. I think a better solution would be to encase that channel in plexiglass and seal it up with marine adhesive sealant like 3M 5200.
Edit: It appears a few folks already mentioned completely sealing up the whole top side altogether. But since you want to be able to service the electrical portion, using a silicone gasket material with a polycarbonate panel that screws in using roofing screws for the section with the serviceable boxes, and reroute the plugs to a section where the box portion is encapsulated and using the marine adhesive sealant against the wires coming out of the box.

That was a lot of work, but totally worth it. It looks great, very custom. To cover the hanging hardware, paint PVC tubes black and rip a channel out of the length which allows you to slip the tube over the hardware. The opening will point toward the back wall and not be seen.

I’m a huge fan and a drop-what-I’m-doing-to-watch-your-latest-video subscriber. I am indeed relieved that you are revising the design. It’s way overbuilt in my opinion and not in a good way, I think it would collect a ton of moisture and it should be part of the ceiling. Looking forward to seeing round 2! You guys are awesome!

Since it’s on an angle and has gravity helping to keep things in place, I wonder if 4 flush mount brackets could have worked. Then it slides 1/2” or so up to remove it, and then add a couple cables on carabiners so it can hang freely but still be removable. It would be tight a f on those flush mount brackets.

I did not think of Qubert but it fits. What a bunch of work for that, but it looks good and covers the issues well. I'd have the light in the middle by a gimbal so it can point straight down. I also think 2x6s make it too thick, perhaps use 2x2s instead. And if you change it, I'd just make it white, the black tile is too dark, and it's not getting the Qubert vibe that the wall has. Possibly just paint in a pattern that follows the grout joint, so you have the tile in sort of relief in white with the grid of the grout line being the feature. Mostly make it less massive and use smaller hooks to they hide better. As someone stated, it's better to seal the top side, you will definitely get water pooling in it.

QBert was an 80's arcade video game in which the character jumped around a series of "cubes". Since it was 2D graphics, the cubes were represented very similarly to the wall tiles you've installed. Your build looks great, keep up the excellent work guys!

    Yay! Another video!
I don't go to fancy restaurants or hotels. But I also don't travel much. The cube wall looks so cool though.
I wonder if AG1 would help my friend who constantly gets kidney stones. It would probably have to taste like DrPepper for him to drink it though. LOL. It's got caffeine so I can't drink it. 😞
Hmm.. I think I would have gone with a GFCI outlet, unless its on a GFCI breaker... Or is it a GFCI outlet? If its not, Leviton makes a Decora Edge outlet that uses tech similar to wago lever nuts for locking the wires in place. Ohh. It was the wrong outlet! Disregard previous comment. LOL. Although, for non wet areas you could use the Leviton ones. Love how you labeled it. My dad loved to label things. I should label things but I usually forget.
With my luck that soffit would fall on me. LOL. It looks neat, but I wonder about moisture building up on top of it.

IMO ... Absolutley love the creativity, seeing a split among folks though, Don't know if y'all have ever put out "Poll" Questions, with the amount of followers y'all have accumulated, Poll questions would be pretty cool as well as a quick dashboard view to see what percentage of folks think one way vs the other(s)

I think I would have placed a steel chase nipple in the junction box - maybe a 4-square instead of a handy box, and then mounted the driver so that the line-side wiring is shoved all the way into the chase nipple. But your first idea to place it in a 10" x 10" x 4" box was probably the more correct way, if space allows.

Why not use high-density foam board instead of all of the wood structural supports? How will the location of the plug for the lighting transformer pass final inspection? Regardless of the current ventilation and PPV system in place, won’t steam vapor droplets catch and fall into the channels of the top of the board?

Please use a push stick. I thought I was far enough away on a cut at 6 plus inches from the blade and it kicked back and still cut into two of my fingers. Luckily i had a sawstop and didnt lose them but i still got cut about 3/16" deep. They are still tender 2 years later and I thank God it missed a tendon.
