Excellent tutorial. You took the time to fully explain everything, and I truly appreciate it. I took notes, and am excited to setup my new Explorer to my preferences. Thank you for all of the time you put into this video.
@@CarsWithSteve Hi Steve. Yes, it is the first time I've owned a Ford, and the first time I've ever owned a brand new car. I've always wanted a vehicle that no one had owned before, and decided if I don't buy one now, I won't ever buy one (I just turned 67). It's a wonderful feeling.
I really appreciate the video. My question is, in the previous versions you were able to connect your phone but use another media device to play music. For example my wife is connected to the car but the Bluetooth music is playing from my phone or my iPad. I no longer see this feature. Is there a way or I must disconnect her phone and use mine? Thanks
You can still do that here.. just make sure that music isn't playing on the phone and then select the Audio tab and the source you want to play from. If you're connected to CarPlay or Android Auto for navigation, get your route going, then go back to the Sync homescreen, go to the audio tab and select your source, then hop back into CarPlay
Can the steering wheel on this car be moved toward the driver? Or do I need to move my seat only? I want to be able to rest my elbow but if I get my seat closer I won’t be able to rest my elbow.
How can i turn off my easy entry? Most people.ive asked say that the on settings tab, then vehicle, then there should be ab easy entry toggle button but mine doesn't have that. Itnalso doesn't have the 1/2/3 button next to to lock/unlock buttons on the door. Any idea?
Can I customize the three sections that appear on the "home" screen? My 2022 Ford Explorer XLT has a default home screen with audio, compass, and phone settings. I'd like to include maps/navigation on my home screen, which appears on the home screen in your video.
I wish! The Sync system doesn't have the option for changing the home screen layout. If yours doesn't have factory navigation that option won't be there.. and unfortunately to add it in, the whole screen needs to be replaced with one that has the navigation module. If you hook up through Android Auto or Apple CarPlay you will see a map button at the bottom of the screen though!
It's based on the build you've gone for. This 8" screen is standard most of the lower trim levels but there's the option for the larger tablet style screen in some of the higher trims with added tech packages
Hi Steve, I just purchased a Ford Explorer 2022 hybrid, and I have been able to set up Bluetooth for my phone, receive calls and texts, but when I plug the USB in the port all it does is charge my phone. I am not getting the screens on the display or phone to proceed. Any advice?
Hey Evelyne! If you've already connected your phone and are setting up CarPlay or Android Auto later you may need to turn it on. iPhone go to: Settings -- > General -- > CarPlay Select your car and make sure that CarPlay is enabled Android search for Android Auto and click "add car" If neither of those work you can also remove the phone from the Explorer media screen and then add it in again
I have a 2023 XLT leased as a company car. When I plug in my iPhone XR I don’t get Car Play coming up. My wife has a slightly newer iPhone and Car Play comes up immediately. I’m curious if anyone else has had this problem? I find Sync3 confusing and underwhelming versus my previous UConnect in my previous 2018 Dodge Charger GT
Yeah that issue happens sometimes. Go into your iPhone settings -> General -> CarPlay and delete the vehicle connection. Then remove the vehicle connection from the phone under Bluetooth and delete the phone connection from the vehicle. Reconnect over USB and it should prompt for CarPlay and start working
I max out my screens to 6 the max after I cut the car off and cut the car back on it reverts back to 2 screens. Why?? Do I need to do something that I'm not doing?
That's an odd one. Try changing the source to another source, like SiriusXM and then update to 6 screens If that doesn't work you can try a Sync3 soft reset by pressing and holding the right seek button and radio power button for 5-10 seconds. It'll turn off then restart
a lot of manufacturers still have screens that don't support wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay. Hopefully in the next year or two we'll have an interior refresh that brings the better Sync4 media screen!
great radio voice you have!
Haha thank you!

Thanks so much Charlene and you're welcome! Hope that you love the new Explorer! Is it the first time you've owned a Ford?

Appreciate your explanation and time. Good job.

Very helpful. Thank you!

Yes it can! The wheel is telescopic - might be power depending on what trim level of the vehicle you’re in

If you don't have the seat memory buttons or that Easy Entry/Exit screen then there isn't a way to toggle that seat function on or off...
Hi steve .. Is iphone x work with it if its already up to date ?
Hi Saleh, yes the iPhone X would be compatible with the Ford Explorer. You can set up bluetooth for phone calls or connect via USB for Apple CarPlay
hey there, we decided to take a road trip in a 2023 ford explorer, and the radio went black right before our trip, any clue on how to get it back on?
Press and hold the volume power button and the right seek buttons under the media screen for 5-10 seconds! That should cause it to reboot
When is Ford going to “wireless Apple Car Play” ? Thanks
Already available on their Sync4 system. Downside is that the Sync3 screen won't be upgradeable though

But how to use USB for music and Apple Car Play at same time? What if I want to load a map directions and listen to my USB music sticK ?
Haven't tried that yet.. I'm in a car with Sync3 tomorrow and will see if I can see if there's a work around
Can anyone explain why some explorers have this smaller screen and not the vertical tablet design ones

How do you turn off the radio
On the volume rocker under the screen you can push in to turn off the radio
How can we choose what apps we want
There are lists of supported apps for both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay if that's what you're referring to
Can i display my android auto without plugging it with usb
Unfortunately not.. Sync3 doesn't have support for wireless Android Auto or Apple CarPlay
how is possible that Ford need to have the phone connected to a USB cable to have Apple Car Play ?

Where are the massage settings?
If your explorer has the massage seats go to settings and swipe all the way over
