Heard it on 9/21/2023 in Frankfurt with the Frankfurt Radio Symphonie in row 4. Her purity of tone, the genius of phrasing, and the immensity of orchestral support easily made it the best concert of my life!
I heard Julia Fischer perform the Sibelius with the Boston Symphony under the great Paavo Berglund about ten years ago. It ranks among the most treasured memories of my concert-going career, now 50 years and counting. I tried to hear MsFischer again in scheduled recitals at Carnegie Hall, but both times she cancelled for "personal family reasons." I hope someone will book her in NYC again, for she is in a class by herself among current-day violinists.
favorite Sibelius violin concerto. I unintentionally look for this performance again after listening to others' playing it. Marvelous and wild playing by Julia Fischer who led me into the world of classical music when I was 19!
Magnificent! Up till now I've thought of Ms Fischer as a superbly sensitive musician but as lacking the power for a convincing and memorable stab at such a monumental piece of Late Romanticism. How wrong I was!
This is simply an amazing performance. I've just listened to Batiashvili's lauded recording with Barenboim, and I prefer this. It has a degree of drama and lyricism that I find lacking in the former. Not that we need to compare, since we're lucky to have so many violinists fully up to the task of interpreting this practically impossible concerto.
Admirable musique adagio bouleversant et inspiré, de grands interprètes qui ont compris Jean Sibelius et la beauté austère de son pays. Merci pour ce moment de Musique,!
NOT TRUE!!! The Best greatest Sibelius violin concerto players Are really! 1: Guila Bustabo ( THE QUEEN TIGER!!!) 2: Viktor Tretjakov ( THE KING! THE GREATEST!) 3: Jascha Heifetz ( The Big hot Juice violin sound Ever!) 4:Gidon Kremer ( not his LP or CD! KREMER LIVE=Hurricane version! The Best Sibelius violin concerto Ever!). 5;Lisa Batiashvili ( The.most Fierce! The most passion! Lisa The raw energy!).
I really wished to love Hahn's version, but unfortunately she doesn't play the dotted rhythm in the last movement's theme. I like her very much, but I don't understand why she take such freedoms so often. Julia Fischer is much more adherent to the score, I believe.

It is relatively harder to find Julia's recordings of sibelius... But it's worth looking for it. Beautiful.

Julia is my favourite violinist, I had no doubt she would absolutely conquer this great piece. I'd love to see her perform this live some day.

At the start point of the third movement , I can clearly hear the dissonance of orchestra. But love Julia's perfect perfomance

In the video description you'll find the URL to a recent photographic interview with the soloist now.
Julia has done it again, shivers up my backbone. Wonderful or is it Wunderbar, sehr lecker
hmm... all funny comments. Perhaps I could help.
Like this overall, but I still prefer Hilary Hahn's version better, especially the last movement.
