Agree. I felt the lack of romance on Chen's rendition as he tend to get very furious and dragging in parts where it suppose to exemplify sweetness while Hahn's recent performance isn't as smooth as when she was playing in her earlier career that you can somehow feel the stiffness in it. So, for the live perfomance of this piece, Soyoung owned it.

These competitions were murderous, playing Wieniawski and Sibelius on the same day, if not in the same concert! No wonder she looked tired after the first movement and exhausted at the end of the concerto. No matter, she always was her best for the last movements, whether it is here, or in 2016 also in Poznań in her Beethoven, or in her Mendelssohns in 2019 in Seoul and in Bilbao, Basque Country in 2021 at the height of the pandemic. She always inspires me.
Absolutely STUNNING performance! This is THE BEST interpretation of the wonderful Sibelius concerto that I have ever heard! BRAVISSIMA! Soyoung Yoon has now become THE violinist to watch and hear. It just doesn't get any better than this. Thank you!

Her physical beauty is icing on the cake. Sometimes, in life, all of the pieces of the puzzle fit together. This is one such time. That more people know who is "Kim Kardashian" "Miley Cyrus" and/or "Beyonce" than Ms. Yoon tells you everything you need to know about the world we inhabit
10 years after this was posted: this is my favorite piece of all time by anyone. And she is the most spectacular - so much emotion put into this. I have come back to this many times over the years since I first saw it preformed by the BSO in 2013.
She plays with very original interpretation, free of cliche. Her violin playing is a joy to listen to all day. The audience was riveted, the conductor shook her hands high in the air to signify victory, the concertmaster uncharacteristically rose up from his seat, and I am still amazed at what I had heard.
So incredibly spiritual - Sibelius, Soyoung, this piece. Could anything in the world be more moving than this? I've heard this concerto a thousand times before - but this performance not only opened my eyes, but I have been 'goose-bumped' throughout it, and such a visceral reaction hasn't left yet. I am so, so sorry that so few can enjoy or even listen to such a magnificent performance. Now I'm putting it on for the third time in a row, and my seat belt is tightly fastened.
I have listened Sibelius violin concerto many many times in the last two months. Each time I love it more and more... And all those young violinists play it superb. This one is as good as the others. Thank you!!

This is really magic, so refreshing and surprising. She pays so much attention to the details, but also so passionately! I wish she could play with the great symphony orchestras such like Berlin, Munich, New York… she really deserves it!

I want to point out that the violin she is using was manufactured in 1710 King George Stradivarius, according to wickepedia. This amazing violin, like a well aged wine, especially in the high notes, is doing full credit to her virtuosity.
I just compared this to the Heifetz of 35. Nothing could ever equal that--the man was just wired differently than mortals--but this was damn impressive. What a talent!
Ginette Neveu has my favorite recording by far. So far that I don't really like any other interpretation very much. But I like Soyoung's and that is saying a lot.

I don't really know her that well but her tone and the way she plays this piece truly mesmerizes me. And she is also sooo gorgeous

사라 장 이후에 최고라고 생각되는 연주자. 몸의 움직임이 연주와 너무 잘 어울어짐. 표현력과 호소력이 탁월함. 기존 여성연주자들에게 부족한 무대 장악력, 깊지 않은 소리, 얕은 소리 같은 단점들이 발견되지 않는다.
그리고 윤소영님의 연주중 전 이 시벨리우스가 압권이라고 생각해요
