I always think she plays her last movements the best whether it is Beethoven, Mendelssohn or Tchaikovsky. Here is no exception. She is visibly fired up. So is the orchestra and the audience at the end. Bravo Soyoung. Best since I heard Kogan and Oistrakh.
I had been wondering for a while what this violinist’s Shosti 1 would sound like, after having sampled a clip of her practicing that audacious cadenza. Curiosity satisfied, as Ms. Yoon brings much Main Character Energy to a spectacular performance of a work known to grind lesser fiddlers who aren’t able to ride this wild bronco of a concerto down into the ground. A unique amalgamation of suavity, sass, and a smile that says, “I’m kinda enjoying this. How about you?” Worthy of repeat watches.
The artist has a deep understanding for the music of Shostakowitch. That aiiows Soyoung Yoon to give us a n emotionally moving interpretation. That lets us forget to even think about her awesome brilliant skills. Dr.J.Frölich
Watching and listening to miss Soyoung Yoon reminds me of my favorite violinist Sarah Chang. The way she moves and play the violin on the stage. She's amazing! ❤️
Wonderful tempo. The particularly fond of the interpretation of the Scherzo you've performed here. The colors both profound and unique while not pulling from in my ignorance what i believe the piece would portray. third movement: no words. finesse. Thank you for your hard work and sharing this performance.
It's beyond human understanding the depth of knowledge of and familiarity with this work required to even begin to play it so well and all from memory. But no, not from memory, but from the fullness of her soul! This goes in "Favorites"! Thank you, Soyoung Yoon! Also to the very careful accompaniment by this fine orchestra under direction of Maestro Sirvend! And certainly, this celestial Cadenza might be the best violin solo of all time! (Standing ovation!)
An amazing performance. The finale and cadenza were a tour de force of bravura technique. Astonishing playing, laugh out loud excellent. Very beautiful and soulfully sad passacaglia. Yoon made the scherzo more interestingly varied than is usual, it can drag a little with most violinists imo. The allegro was good, played a little straight for my tastes on first listen. I like to hear it more emotionally played, like a premonition of the passacaglia. A great performance of my favourite violin concerto of the last 100 years. Bravo!

Согласен, как никто другой воодушевляет оркестр и публику!

Best vibrato! Today's artists all need to learn from this lady!

Love Yoon; not in love with Shostakovich. Yoon cannot even save this piece. Please, Soyoung, stick with Mozart and Bach.
No sir, you are wrong! Even Stalin would have enjoyed that. The audience and the orchestra appeared to also.
