Today we release the complete video of Chloe's Bruch Violin Concerto No. 1 free to everyone, to celebrate our recent 50,000 subscriber milestone, as well as to wish Chloe all the very best for her impending move overseas for her further studies. For the past year, this video has been an exclusive to our Channel Members. The Singapore Symphony gives everyone our heartfelt thanks for supporting Chloe as well as us! We're working on more content, we promise!
A justifiably popular piece: some recognisable themes, even a melody or two, some rousing crescendos, enough tension and quiet, altogether very agreeable.
Chloe keeps... getting... better 0_0 She's unstoppable! can you guys imagine what she'll sound like 20 years from now? i sure don't. YOU GO GIRL! We love you! Weeee🌟❤
The second Chloe's bow touches the strings the audience is transported to another world - a magical world of sublime, angelic melodies. Her face radiates enjoyment, and her smile speaks volumes. Simply superb.
This is the best interpretation of Bruch I've heard to date... Chloe is amazing and even more so thanks to the wonderful musicians in the Singapore Symphony Orchestra. Bravo!
She clearly got every moment checked. The intonation is sooo on point. The first movement is really rich and thick in tone quality. She really brings out the high excitement in the opening. 2nd is rich, sweet and majestic. - You can see the mix of high enjoyment and concentration on her face. her violin voice sings very beautifully and playfully. I noticed that the tempo of 3rd movement when she played in this recording to twoset video is a lot faster and cleaner - The little tiptoe and “✌🏻” peace sign at the end is soooo cute😭🫶🏻❤️✨
Yes, absolutely! Chloe is especially magnificent whenever the tempo slows. The only performance of this Adagio that I have been able to find that comes close to the love and nobility that her performance of it expresses is the one by Kogan (who, rather surprised me in this respect, although of course he is one of the greats).
The sheer excitement she generates in the final movement, despite having heard it many, many times, is absolutely brilliant. Her interpretation of the slow movement is very touching.
Every time I watch and hear her play, I'm just speechless and enthralled. She's so incredibly talented and dedicated. You can just tell she loves playing and is so absorbed in it. Beautiful.
It would be literally absolutely impossible for you to be MORE RIGHT IF YOU TRIED!!!!!!!!!!!! I AM SO GLAD her career is REALLY taking off, because NOT ONLY is she an ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL violinist, but she has NOT allowed fame and fortune to change her in ANY WAY, SHAPE OR FORM!!!!!!!!!!! Unfortunately, however, the same cannot be said about Ray Chen, who is another ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL violinist, BUT he is also TOTALLY IN LOVE WITH HIMSELF!!!!!!!!!! Julie Gill, Glasgow, Scotland
I've never cared much for romantic music I'm all for baroque. So, I was a bit wary about what will happen. And the impossible happened. I still don't love romantic music but what Chloe performed was something beyond everything. Things never heard before. The way she leaned into the phrase at 2:45 starting out as a Hungarian Gipsy song and ending as Piazzolla... I can't list all the fine points, it would be an endless list. Every second was exceptional even when Chloe was not playing. And there was such a great chemistry between Chloe and the Conductor. Sometimes it looked like they were playing their own private concerto. So, now here I'm standing defeated. I must admit that I'm fated to lap everthing from Chloe's palms. A Singaporean treasure. A gift to the world. Thank you so much, Chloe and SSO. For 25 minutes, all was right with the world. She inhabits music in a way rarely seen, especially for someone still so very young.
Not to dwell on Chole Chua too much, but one thing that I find utterly remarkable about her playing is that she has both machine like precision and also plays with great feeling at the same time. Truly a treasure. Wonderful ears on this one and hands that just don't quit. And so young to have achieved so much.

13:53 A subito piano so subtle yet satisfying. Chloe's attention to dynamic details while maintaining the music's architectural arc is her original and unique signature that we hear here as well as in her many other works, e.g., Tchaikovsky Meditation.
Of course, Heifetz, Menuhin and Rabin etc. were not recorded with anything like the same regularity as she is, but the plain fact is that Chloe is putting together the greatest body of recorded work compiled by any teenage violinist in the past hundred years.

At last, the full performance by Chloe of the Bruch No. 1 concerto with the S.S.O. And what a performance. Beautifully recorded in H.D. This one should be put out as a D.V.D. You go girl.
To contemplate that this prodigy's playing continues to grow even more over time in terms of skill and emotion is amazing. A stunning performance in itself, let alone for a 17-year-old.
Dear Chloe, To me your playing sounds like you are singing. That is to say your instrument has a kind of vocal inflection and tone so pleasing to the ear. If you are taking singing lessons on the side, it is evident. Maestro Bruch would be pleased with this rendering. I look forward to your NY Phil debut.
I have been following Chloe ever since she co-won the Menuhin competition and she has only gotten better and better. It's unebelievable to imagine how good she will become if she's already this good.
The music and sound is stunning, no doubt about that but I really appreciate the camera work as well. Beautiful shots of the relevant sections in the right moments. It's like watching a small movie.

What a wonderful performance! Not only her tone and play but also the together play with conductor and orchestra was just great. What a joy to hear Chloe play and watch her grow more mature every time.
Max Bruch is one of those composers with whom a single work is almost exclusively associated. The great popularity of his violin concerto in G minor thus eclipsed his entire production. If he was not necessarily understood in his time, Bruch testified to a true genius of which this concerto is the perfect incarnation. The concerto, in its definitive version, finally knew how to touch the public and remains, today, one of the most popular in the violin repertoire. How can you resist the rhapsodic and elegiac accents of this score, which offers the soloist the opportunity to shine as much by his virtuosity as by his lyricism ! The first movement « Vorspiel - Allegro Moderato » is like a long introduction to the following two which are as intense as they are contrasting. In the second part « Adagio », the composer testifies to his melodic genius through a cantilena of overwhelming emotional power. As for the swirling « Finale : Allegro Energico » it allows the soloist to deploy the most dizzying virtuosity. If anyone had any doubts about Chloe Chua ability to assimilate this marvelous work, it is thing done ! My thanks to you Chloe. Musical life is a very difficult art to learn. *Lucien*
Yup. Chloe Chua is a very rare specimen in Singapore, a country that lost a generation of artistic talent to industrialization. Caution, however, Singapore that you don't quickly let this lead to a "superiority" complex as you are prone to do. Bravo Chloe! You have shallow shoes to fill with respect for Singapore's past musical talent and now replace them with big ones. You are fantastic!!

The first movement cadenzas rlly give Chloe a chance to shine - you can feel the passion in the music even as a novice listener such as myself, it’s incredible to hear such distinctly precise intonation and such a sweet sound off the E string 🤌
