Every note with passion, intent and perfect technique - she really is at the top of her game (and everyone else's). At several points the orchestra string section players are so engrossed in listening to her beautiful phrasing they forget they are about to come in and have to wake up quickly. This is real music making, very fresh and deeply felt, despite it being music that is so often played.
My great great great Grandfather,Ferdinand David, helped his friend Felix Mendelssohn Write and arrange this Oeuvre over six years, completing it in early 1845 when it was first performed by Ferdinand David in Leipzig. I believe that he would have bowed down to Miss Fischer wonderful rendition, I only wish my mother was still alive to hear her!
I think Mendelssohn, himself, would have given Mrs. Fischer a low, sweeping bow as well! Hats off to your distant relative (who might have even heard Chopin, Schumann and the young Brahms perform!) and all hail one of the greatest musicians of this (or any!) century; Julia Fischer is an amazing violinist, pianist, music professor (Germany's youngest ever!) and force of nature.

One word about Julia Fischer 'SUPERB!' ... none has bettered her powerful yet delicate performance. Myung-Whun Chung was the unquestionably sensitive Conductor who could respect, perfectly, this signally beautiful interpretation. I am overjoyed!

Amazing! I love her ability to play quickly between the frog and middle of the bow. Not enough violinists play this way. I also love the way she keeps her body loose and fluid, playing the instrument with entire body. Keeping the knees unlocked is wonderful for avoiding spinal pain. Bravo, Julia! Impressive!
For those who do not know, the "Basilique-Cathédrale de Saint-Denis" is the first gothic church in the world and the place where nearly all the french kings has been buried. There has always been a catholic church at this exact place since the IV° century! Great place to play classical music !

Fischer's expression and connection to the audience, especially in the 1st movement, is exceptional, and, in my opinion, unprecedented by any of the other leading soloists in the world. Her expression, overall technique and interpretation is what makes this performance as amazing as it is.

What a wonderful violinist she is! I think she is one of the best. Julia Fischer and Janine Jansen are my favorite. Julia Fischer is superior in terms of technique and musical interpretation, but Janine Jansen is a master of the emotional expression. So some people like Julia Fischer and others like Janine Jansen. For me I like both. They are living treasures for this world.
I think both Julia Fischer and Janine Jensen enchant audiences with their marvelous musicality, passionate sensitive playing, flawless technique, as well as by their great physical beauty. I don't see why one must choose one or the other. They are not mutually exclusive and music lovers can and enjoy listening to both of these wonderful artists.

ich habe mittlerweile recht viele Aufnahmen von diesem wunderbaren Konzert gehört und ich finde, dass Julia Fischer dieses Konzert mit Abstand am besten interpretiert. Alleine schon, dass sie den Anfang zügiger als die Meisten spielt gefällt mir sehr gut und den daraus entstehenden späteren Tempowechsel begegnet sie mit einer zauberhaften Leichtigkeit und Eleganz! Wirklich klasse Aufführung, wäre sehr gerne dabei gewesen.
This concert is one of the most beautiful violin pieces, Julia Fischer is marvelous, but turning the Saint-Denis cathedral into a profane concert hall is a sacrilege.
Curatica, if you think playing beautiful music in a cathedral's off hours is profane you must be a dour Christian indeed, one who would be shocked to learn that Jesus smiled though famous art never showed it. You surely would be as shocked to hear hymns dolorously sung in white churches get a beat and come alive in Black ones. If, as Christianity says, stop being bitter and become better, you might even relax listening to the works of composers who--like Jesus--were Jews.

I think both Julia Fischer and Janine Jensen enchant audiences with their marvelous musicality, passionate sensitive playing, flawless technique, as well as by their great physical beauty. I don't see why one must choose one or the other. They are not mutually exclusive and music lovers can and enjoy listening to both of these wonderful artists.

ich habe mittlerweile recht viele Aufnahmen von diesem wunderbaren Konzert gehört und ich finde, dass Julia Fischer dieses Konzert mit Abstand am besten interpretiert.
Alleine schon, dass sie den Anfang zügiger als die Meisten spielt gefällt mir sehr gut und den daraus entstehenden späteren Tempowechsel begegnet sie mit einer zauberhaften Leichtigkeit und Eleganz!
Wirklich klasse Aufführung, wäre sehr gerne dabei gewesen.

At one point I felt the violin was a living voice. I’m not a musician but this made me weep! Maybe in a former life she was the composer!
This concert is one of the most beautiful violin pieces, Julia Fischer is marvelous, but turning the Saint-Denis cathedral into a profane concert hall is a sacrilege.
Curatica, if you think playing beautiful music in a cathedral's off hours is profane you must be a dour Christian indeed, one who would be shocked to learn that Jesus smiled though famous art never showed it. You surely would be as shocked to hear hymns dolorously sung in white churches get a beat and come alive in Black ones.
If, as Christianity says, stop being bitter and become better, you might even relax listening to the works of composers who--like Jesus--were Jews.
