I refuse to date someone who doesn't love this. Looks are not that important, but if you don't appreciate music like this, I don't think we're a good match. They should honestly make a Tindr app that lets people swipe based on musical taste lol
The slow movement was my grandfather's favorite piece of music. He whistled it all the time. He died in 1951 when I was 9. But to this day, and I'm closing in on 75, when I hear it I think of him.
People frequently comment that Jansen's career is aided by her good looks. Yes, she is a very pretty lady! Regardless, for years I have admired Jansen's playing without putting much stock in her appearance. Then I saw several interviews with Jansen. And I fell in love! Not just a pretty face, but a sincere warmth, grace, intelligence and humility that I found extremely appealing. And incredible talent. She is a treasure!
She is? Honestly never noticed. I keep looking at her left hand and think - how does a human being do that? Is she even human? Her right hand is also pretty out of this world ;)
I was a WW2 orphan and at one foster home (before my mother died) the grandfather a member of the San Diego Symphony and would practice violin out in his garage/ workshop, while I would sit on the other side of the door (3 yrs. old) and cry at such beautiful music and the this was one of them. I started on violin at age 10 yrs. and still perform. Janine is magical, just love her passion. Listen to her Bach Chaconne, a real education. Wonderful.
Not only was every note in place but also every hair. What an elegant, powerful and artistic performer. This is one of the best recordings of this concerto I have ever heard. Absolutely outstanding and we can thank the conductor and orchestra who were equally outstanding.
What I LOVE about Jansen is she is no cookie cutter violinist, she is an artist to thrill today's audiences like no other. We are lucky to be able to hear her gift to the world.
Tchaikovsky's Violin concerto: I. Allegro moderato 0:00 II. Canzonetta: Andante 18:56 III. Finale: Allegro vivacissimo 25:08 Encore: "Mélodie" from "Souvenir d'un lieu cher" (arr. for violin and orchestra by Glazunov) 39:43
I can feel the pain of Tchaikovski, it´s so emotional, those glissandos and hight passages. That virtuosity, such powerful song Tchaikovski must have been the most amazing composer ever
I have lived with recordings of this monumental work, by such artists as Heifitz, Oistrack, Menuhin, Chung, Szeryng, Little, Mutter, and this performance stacks up against the very best.
Being a violinist has such high demand for stamina, I doubt if I can just hold that piece of wood for more than 40 minutes straight, let alone playing with such strength and precision at the same time
I know very well it makes absolutely no sense to be proud of being born in the same area as a celebrity, but damn Janine, you are a treasure for the Dutchies.
I have listened to this concerto 50+ times and her third movement increased my appreciation of the work - that's the highest compliment you can give any artist. Well done Janine!
Staggering performance by Janine Janssen ... surely the foremost violinist of the moment. But what I also find really wonderful about this is the sensitive conducting of Paavo Järvi. If you want to see what a conductor does apart from flapping his baton about, watch this. His interaction with Janine is wonderful to watch! And lastly ... the lady flautist!! What an enthusiastic performance from her! And may I say ... what a beauty!! All in all 44 minutes of heaven! Thanks for posting!
I remember when I was a child traveling by car with my family and my father listening to this concert all the trip long and, at first i didn't like it, but with time I started to appreciate it and now I am a big enthusiastic of classic music thanks to him. I miss you so much dad
I love everything about this - the composer, the soloist and the conductor. What a sublime and exciting performance this is. Janine is full of wit and energy, as well as impeccable beauty (I've never heard the cadenza played with such virtuosity and delight) and Paavo matching her every move. This is more like a chamber piece - with everyone listening and joining in the fun. Never underestimate this music - it is Tchaikovsky at his inventive best - and this may be the best performance of it I've heard in 45 years of loving it. Wow!
The Tchaikovsky violin concerto is my favourite classical piece, and played by Janine Jansen it seems twice as beautiful as it normally is! Congratulations!
LOL When you've worked your ass off all week, and are as tired and fed up as you could ever imagine life could leave you...then there is this! Tchaikovsky! :) I'll not get into a discussion on nuance and other silliness. Ha! I can hear soul. I can hear heart. I can hear longing. It is almost, just almost perfection itself! :) Makes me feel alive!!! As tired and worn out as I am. Ha! Just what is good music supposed to do? It lifts you up off the floor and gives you hope and strength! :) It reanimates your very soul.
7-14-20 w/ WORLD falling apart under mishandling of Covid by USA, & Trump trying to end medical insurance for all the hospital personnel too. I needed a break & this was PERFECT!
So I watched several performances of this piece and this is my favorite interpretation of it. Others were excellent as well, but this one is extra special. Gorgerous!
Janine is incredibly beautiful! It is insane, let alone the brilliant execution of every performance. This is a feast to the ear and glorious to watch. Thank you universe for giving us such unbelievably gifted artists!
An electrifying performance from Janine; suitably sensitive, full of energy and occasionally drunken (as I think Tchaikovsky intended) but also with great support from the excellent orchestra and conductor. for whom this clearly isn't just another play through. Lots of new ideas here and I loved it. But can I just give a shout out to the wonderful Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, bless him, without whom none of us would be able to share this masterful and underrated concerto. A joy from start to finish with a lovely bonus at the end. Thank you so much for the upload.
And...! The delicious encore (the Melodie, by Tchaikovsky) is so touching. Watch the chemistry between soloist and conductor. They really playing this with love and warmth. Brava Janine, bravo Paavo and bravo maestro Tchaikovsky...
We know we're in for something special from the moment this performance begins... Jarvi is so sensitive with the opening phrase. Then Janine steps in and plays with such lyrical beauty - it really is lovely. It's also great to see such a connection between soloist and orchestra. It feels as if they are playing chamber music sometimes. All the drunkenness of the Finale and all the gorgeousness of the slow movement are intact. A truly great performance and, for my money, one of the best you'll hear. Tchaikovsky wins again...!
+The Cat Well, I certainly didn't intend to irritate you! What I want to do is to dispel a myth - that Tchaikovsky didn't have a sense of humour. In this piece (and in so many more) this sense of fun is abundantly clear. But in many other comments and writings I've seen, Tchaikovsky is dismissed as a gloom-monger. By drunken, I intend to convey those initial stages of intoxication when everything seems all right with the world. And I mean it especially in the cadenza of the first movement and in the second subject of the finale. Please, get back to me if you continue to be interested or you don't think I've answered your question... All good wishes
+ComposerInUK it's definitely an odd thing to compare this piece to drunkenness... indeed to compare anything to "the stages of drunkenness". This seems like the polar opposite of drunkenness to me. Although I don't think I'd find it irritating, I'd definitely consider your evaluations to be ill-considered if it was anything more than a YT comment and intended to be taken seriously at all.
Janine Jansen, eine hervorragende Violinistin! Technik, klang der Geige, exzellent! Sie kämpft noch mit ihrem Instrument. Es scheint noch keine Partnerschaft zu sein. Eine in Musikalität eingetauchte Verbindung!
I just want to add a new comment to the responses to her marvelous performance. She embodies all of the passion, tension, and joy of the piece. If the recording had stopped after the first movement, all the promise would have been fulfilled. Thank God it is complete!
Wonderful performance by Janine Jansen accompanied by an excellent orchestra. Her playing is sharp and vigorous in addition to melodious, a combination that places her among the top violinists of all time.
Not only is this a superb soloist, you are seeing a stunningly masterful accompaniment by Paavo Järvi too. Bravo for the camera work too. Every classical musician should see this production.
I couldn't agree more Robert. It's superb in every respect. I never tire of watching it. I've seen videos of Janine's recordings of this with Matthew Harding and while she is as professional and delightful as ever (and actually runs the show), he is a self obsessed clown. No comparison with Järvi.
Even though Tchaikovsky was born 103 years after that precious fiddle. I believe the great composer's soul lived inside of it. Janine speaks to him through the F hole, however in broken English, about Auer. I thank God for Janine and that wonderful orchestra.
Janine Jansen-so gifted! Not only with the violin, but in feminine beauty also. It makes for a magnificent presentation of an outstandingly beautiful creation by Tchaikovsky.
I had this on cd but lost it. I used to listen with the children (long time ago) and I remember the oldest one (very sensitive) not older than 6 back then used to lay herself on the ground with arms wide crying how beautiful ❤️ timeless. Wonderful memory while I accidentally come across this video 🙏
This weekend she played this concert in Auditori of Barcelona. It was a gift. Great, beautiful, moving, exciting experience. She's so brilliant!!! One of my favorites violin concerts.
An outstanding performance of the best violin concerto in history! Janine Jansen's passionate engagement in her music is clearly visible and resonates with listeners and the conductor alike, IMO. As for Jansen, I couldn't think of a better example of an instance where beauty and talent have simultaneously reached to an apex.
What a powerful, expressive, magical performance by this great young beautiful artist! It was if I was hearing this violin concerto for the first time. I literally have fallen in love with this great work again, and with her playing...and with her! Art and love are one again!!!
I've watched a lot of orchestra videos, but this is the best-filmed I've seen. Focussing on the music pages then back-focussing to the performer's violin; audience faces then pull back. The star rather shines herself--wow.
Janine Jansen is a privileged one, as a superb violin player she can for a moment keep the souls of great composers in the cage of her heart and set them free beautifully through the magic of her gifted fingers
Salutacions i millors desitjos.
This is in my opinion the best rendition of Tchaikovsky's masterpiece! I absolutely adore Janine Jansen! (Perhaps this video will get more views (which it deserves) if "violin concerto in D major, op. 35" is included in the tags.)
A Russian Composer, a Dutch Violinist, a German orchestra and a Conductor from Estonia! Couldn't have asked for more to this outstanding Concerto and brilliant performance! This Violin Concerto by Tchaikovsky can never die!
This performance will go down as the most famous ever. Jansen is enormously talented and possibly the premiere violinist in the world and gorgeous to boot.I almost married the former Miss Australia, who happened to be happened to be Dutch from Amsterdam where I spent some time. I have watched this performance at least 50 times and never tire of it! Gary Hill
@@garyhill3814 I agree with you completely. However there are a few others you will definitely know like Anna Sophie Mutter, Lisa Batiashvili, Hillary Hahn. I have followed Janine since she was 4 years old when her parents every weekend invited musician friends for a music session and young Janine was playing already like a established Violinist!
She sets the place aflame wlth her vivacity, a vitality , fury and tenderness that draws the orchestra, as much as the fine conductor does, onto her plane of imagination and mastery, yet all done with a modesty and total fidelity to the composer.
Thank you Janine once more You give us reasons to believe in life. And the masterful conductor of the orchestra as well. The spirit of music is here incarnated.
I am by no means an expert on classical music but the build up to 6:25 is so intense that when I hear the intial climax to the piece I always just cry my eyes out... My mum told me a story that when she was listening to this in her bedroom she was dancing to it and kicked her slipper off and scratched the record but unfortunately it was the same night her dad died unexpectedly of a heart attack and this song has always had that attachment for me of my poor mum feeling the joy of this music and then sudden fall of heart break...
Grazie Janine.
My mother played 2nd violin in 6 states and 3 countries. She was always a great admirer of this wonderful player. She always admired the way she played and how she always played with the orchestra members and the audiences. This piece was always one of her favorite pieces. Janine does one of the best renditions of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons with an amazing chamber group that she conducts while playing one of the best lead violins ever
Is there a more beautiful violin concerto, a more beautiful and haunting melody? It has lingered in my mind since I first heard it in1957. Magnificently played by one of amazing talent, as well as beauty. Humanity peaks in creations and productions like this.
I am afraid next time this concerto is in Public Radio, I will get a ticket for speeding. My mind soars with it, and my heart beats like a storm. If I get home before it is over, a take an extra round, I can't stop listening from the beginning to the end. I am not a musician, what it means that she communicate so much through this interpretation that even a amateur like me, can.t get enough of it. Delightful, dreamy. .
I wish had friends that understood the beauty of this =(

never get bored to get here, this really is my kinda mood booster
There is no greater violinist in the world today. Unbelievably stunning, heartfelt, sensitive and always genuine.
Janine Jansen is a privileged one, as a superb violin player she can for a moment keep the souls of great composers in the cage of her heart and set them free beautifully through the magic of her gifted fingers
Salutacions i millors desitjos.
Francesc Tuto Thanks! Best Regards.
Janine is brilliant! But that's also for the orchestra. What a great sound!

She is incredible! full of energy and total expression... thank you for making us feel the music!
merci pour ce moment
6:26 and 9:09 so majestic.. goosebumps!! 15:21 to 15:28 makes my eyes well and scalp crawl every time
Thank you Janine once more You give us reasons to believe in life. And the masterful conductor of the orchestra as well. The spirit of music is here incarnated.
An absolute magnificent performance, totally transfixed, never had the total pleasure of Janine before
Janine is far and away my favorite violinist. And an incredible musician.
Fantastic communication between soloist and orchestra, wonderful inspiring playing.
This so well done, very nice. The soloist is awesome and the orchestra plays wonderfully, thanks for sharing
That was absolutely perfect. Hands down my favorite performer of Tchaikovsky violin concerto. Incredibly beautiful. Ich liebe dich, Janine!!
Magnífica Janine, magnífico Paavo Järvi y magnífica orquesta.-
I am by no means an expert on classical music but the build up to 6:25 is so intense that when I hear the intial climax to the piece I always just cry my eyes out...
Beautifully done :)
Always excellent to hear Janine Jansen and watch her play .
Grazie Janine.
27:36 made my day, honestly! :D absolutely amazing interpretation, Jansen is stellar!!!
Best ever interpretation I’ve heard. JJ I wish I could have attended a concert of yours. 🤷♂️ what an exceptional and talented musician🤯🤩
un bon moment d'ecoute, merci.
Best Tchaikovsky interpretation for this virtuoso's performing ever heard.
I m always listening her performance! She is so gorgeous and her violin sound is amazingly beautiful:)
+painter790 sure there is, try celtic music
The recording quality is exceptional as well!
Why would you put ads in this you monster?
Not their choice. The performance is under copyright so either it gets ads (and the revenue goes to the copyright claimant) or it gets taken down.
at least it cameout after the first movement
Copyright? Its public music. Old mate died many years ago
@@rubenm5138 The specific performance and recording are under copyright, though.
Yeah i get it. Sucks though haha
To see and listen Janine and the flute plater lady, is like having a walk in Paradise. In fact, I expect to see then in Glory.
Delightful, dreamy. .
