@@SShaBazzz nah, i think even shaheen has some cheese. He has the classic lee-law-now shaheen, slide mixup, which has probably caused a few broken controllers, the hopkick range, and a 14 frame launcher with rage. @@grandpanoogie2665 the reason I wouldnt call his slide cheese is because it becomes obvious that he is setting up for slide. Its not about defending Ninas stuff on reaction. Its about defending against her strings on reaction online. Good luck low parrying can opener on 3 bars lol
I think i'm an avg player who knows how to duck punish, low parry moves, relatively good movement sidestep and shit and i would say for my level its hard to low parry a move when opponent is pressuring u so hard. Sometimes i dont try to attempt a low parry to Law's junkyard bcoz i'm holding back and its difficult to change to df fast. When u get hit by the 1st move of a string u automatically press back or db to block rest of string, not sidestep or low parry, thats like pro level play. For Nina or Hwo, when u dont duck punish their high or low parry their lows they will get a lot of momentum n more pressure and u'll get a lot of headache trying to find another opening discarding ur previous mistake and tension builds up leading to more mistakes;duck on mids, and finally 7 golden letters for a mistake on not ducking a high move in a seeable string. 😂
@@tempo8462 That pro level thing doesnt mean that much online. Im TGP but I still struggle to defend against Ninas strings online although I know excatly what to do. Kings grabs are kinda similar. Dude, TMM literally called my main garbage in his tierlist video and I laughed it off like everyone else. But when he even SUGGESTS that Nina can be easy to play in lower ranks, this guy loses it...
Brian from experience at high levels, you won’t and I play multiple characters. Nina is an easy character (shitty though) without animation cancels, wall carries, hayashida step, poison mist, iwr 1+2. To optimize the full potential of the character you have to learn everything.
@@cartoonworld1000 also, everyone has their opinions on everything. He went the wrong way around approaching his opinion and got a huge backlash but this guy is actually really nice.
"You can learn to low parry this on reaction very easily" this guy says while showing him doing it in practice mode, never against anyone in a real match, after already making a point against tmm about practice mode being that much easier to execute things in
if you start learning tekken and u face those characters like eddy and nina, it is 100% difficult (and maybe free for the opponent). there are good players for all characters but what TMM is saying is some characters got MUCH easier tools and setups. in the case of nina, most people just wont have that knowledge OR reaction time to deal with a lot of her stuff. this guy is talkin about practice then bring up bryan taunt wall game? literally most pros arent even trying taunt set ups besides jimmy j and knee.
You do realise the guy wasnt talking about taunt jet upper right? He showed taunt into b4 bryans knee which isnt all that hard to do. you dont have to be knee to do some basic bryan taunt stuff like taunt in to jabs or back 4.
@@someguy666 even that is less abusable than a nina strings. They only occur when the bryan player corners his opponent with enough pressure. Nina is flowchart character just rotate the strings and setups and intermediate cant do a thing or struggle. Im not calling Nina invincible but the point is she is abusable at low and intermediate level. Bryan taunt set ups do not work at low level cause they dont block and only attack. As a King and Lee main, I completely agree with MainMan. I mean, come on. Nina from all the way in T4 could create situations with built in 50/50 mixups built into her strings. Beginn/Intermed ranks would have a hell of a time playing Nina because her damage output nets almost the same reward regardless of your level of execution. Trying to constantly go into b2,f *mist step cancel* combos to even get more than 60dmg with Lee requires A LOT. #teamMainMan.
I've always respected Lee mains as a warrior Alisa (started in January) you have to work to so hard to do good damage with Lee. With Alisa, I can just use her amazing punishers and movement to win rounds. But nothing is ever truly easy. If they do know to turtle against the match up then it's difficult :(

There's a clear disparity in experience between these two and the way mainman handles the obvious disrespect clearly shows the difference in age and intentions.
Man, it's insane how spot on a lot of TMM's points are. They have really resonated with me and my Mishima experience in T7. It was my first fighting game, and a lot of the points this other guy made have felt incredibly ignorant as they felt like they were trying hard to invalidate everything I went through.
The response is out of context of the original argument: 1. "Nina is easy to play and hard to counter and therefore overall can't be labelled as one of the hardest in the game" was in response to Nina players who claim she's one of the most difficult characters in the game. The response just addresses this in general and says that every character has stuff that's hard to deal with. -Yes, agreed but not all characters are claimed to be incredibly difficult. 2. "Nina's pressure strings are easier to deal with in practice than in real matches or online" was in response to another response video that demonstrated how to counter Nina's strings. With most strings having deceptively similar startups and Nina herself being a niche character most players will struggle to counter these strings in real matches. The response again addresses this in general and says that everything is easier to counter in practice than in real matches. MainMan responded to the Nina counter video and didn't make a general statement.
Honestly, I think I understand where this guy is coming from. He's absolutely clapped, and a massive insecure twat who's just bashing TMM on a personal level, don't get me wrong. But he's just so consumed by his personal experience and knowledge over Nina's gaps that he cannot seem to put himself in another's shoes, and see the strengths. When you're playing a character, you see the weak side, when you play against a character you see the strong side. I was the same, and I'll explain: So on Soul Calibur 6, my character Grøh, I considered a mid-tier character who had problems opening up turtles. But when discussing with my friend, he thought the character was ez S-tier. We had a back and forth and before I even noticed he pointed out that i simply was highlighting the weaknesses exclusively. Without considering his great moves. And overall, it changed my opinion to be more well-rounded and consider things equally. Tl;dr this guy merely is putting his experience of playing nina (and probably being countered by high level players) first. without actually taking note of how he wins and formulating an opinion from both sides. (through the characters strengths, the strings are one of them.) god i wrote an essay, fork.
LMAO Lee gives me nightmares, I have to put in the extra work to get that good damage with him but he has the swag. Using Feng or Armor King I don't have to work as hard lol, all three of them are some of my favourite characters in the series.
It would be cool to see TMM with his spammy Nina against a Nina player with Kazuya and have them in vocals during the match. It could be cool to settle this shit this way. With sportmanship and testosterone.
I respect little things more than debunking arguments by presenting valid evidence on the contrary. TMM, you consistently do this very well. It’s part of why I’ve been a follower since you started this channel.
I feel like a lot of people who plateau in fighting games love to make themselves a hero lmao... I'm only (whatever rank) because I main Lee, Nina, Bryan, Whoever and they're just soooo hardddd and not because my opponents are better than me and not because I can improve in like every area of the game.. My character is just soooooooo ddiiffiiccuulltt and I am a super honorable masochist for sticking with them. And just for fairness, obviously not everyone who plays those characters is like that so I'm not trying to bag on anyone in particular but damn do I feel like I hear it a lot.
The fact is, the only way to improve and understand the weaknes and the strong side of your character is to stick with it, and you'll plateau nonetheless with every character if it's your first ranking grind to higher positions. You lack fundamentals and knowledge of any kind, wich you'll acquire in the time you reach a plateau. So yes, everyone feels good when they surpass that limit, because that really means you improved.
TMM is right when it comes to Josie. She doesn't have a lot of fast, plus on block moves that puts opponents in a blender like Steve, Hwoarang, or Nina that makes them ask "when is it my turn to attack?!". FF3, FFF3, CD1+2, are all slow and the only moves that are plus on block outside of jabs. She can't vortex and the worst you'll eat while blocking is a CD3. She has no snake edge that launches or any lows that knockdown on normal hit for that matter to initiate a oki vortex, which makes her more manageable for beginners/intermediates do deal with compared to characters with scarier 50/50, which are the majority of the cast. If you press buttons at negative, your her food. If your patient, it's not so bad. I fought people as nina and they didn't know which way was up and I gotta way with murder the whole time.
I just love how these Tekken Lords try and disguise their arguments as complex and analytical, but ultimately, every time it just boils down to - "SToP cOmPlainIng nD Get GuD ScRUb!" there are a few posh words to make it sound like they're saying otherwise, but that's it - and THAT my friend, is what's harmful to the community. You're objectively correct Adrian. It's also NOT how every fighting game works - the degrees are very different if you compare say a Tekken and a SF at beginner to intermediate, even advanced levels.
So, if i'm a beginner, I have trouble against Nina and i find 2 videos talking about the strings that give me trouble against her: The first video tells me that I can low parry and sidestep the strings. The second video tells me that Nina is a "In your face char", her strings are cheap and unreactable. Now I'll ask, which of the videos will harm me more?
"Dumb, harmful opinion" is exactly what a person with a pathological animus would say. "You share NOT my own dichotomy THEREFORE you ARE my enemy." How can you live life believing anyone who's not with me is against me, only psychopaths actually think like this, insane XD!!

I couldn't take whoever that guy is seriously after 19:16 "Don't blame the game." As if a game can't have flaws or strings that are cheap. And as if we aren't within our rights as FG players to complain about things that dampen the gameplay experience. This guy seems to think that everyone plays at Fujin rank or higher. When the vast majority are of a far, far lower skill lever, where, to the surprise of no-one who is reasonable and has thought this through, can-opener is cheap. No one is asking for balancing to be made around the low level, but again, to the surprise of no one who is reasonable, casual/beginner and intermediate level play matters too (thank you for pointing out Eddy's strings being taken away despite his absence at pro level). Discussion/rebuttal videos where the opposing opinions are strawmen do nothing helpful for anyone other than those looking to garner a little clout. Thank you for making this response video MM.
*"I think you & I are in different worlds here"* You're Tekken God Prime & he's an orange rank. Need I say more? I love how he calls your subs scrubs but yet who is the orange rank?
A person’s rank shouldn’t undermine or emphasize their opinion. Sometimes pros have good arguments to make, sometimes someone who never touched the game has one as well. Considering certain opinions “better” than others over rank is pretty elitist
@@alessandroalbarello7223 More often than not a higher rank has more knowledge & spent years even decades on the series in general. What are the odds that a lower rank knows better? I'm not saying that can't happen. Which one knows more? Johns Hopkins or a school nurse? Look at their degrees as ranks. It's the same thing. Clearly Johns Hopkins knows more than the school nurse. Opinions mean nothing at the end of the day. Facts wins.
@@MrSamuelAdam4 Opinions and facts both make the world go around and are equally important in an absolute sense. @@alessandroalbarello7223 @MrSamuelAdam4 or we could just say that its a well known *FACT* that TMM has been playing this game almost his whole life. A gargantuan experience > rank.
I feel like his argument involves a lot more personal attacks than actual points being made. And when he does try to make a point, a lot of the time it boils down to an oversimplification of what fighting games are about. This often just basically tells you to “just deal with it”, without taking into consideration how fighting games evolve in the first place. I would be careful with attempting to discourage criticisms of characters/moves, because that’s how they become more refined. These questions should always be asked and discussed, not shut down because you’re just supposed to find a solution and deal with it. Do they also think buffs and nerfs are unnecessary, since it’s okay as long as there’s a solution? Or does this logic only apply when it’s most convenient? Very confusing to me. This obviously doesn’t mean Nina should be nerfed, but this video was originally made to counter someone who made a video about dealing with Nina, and this guy responded with more general concepts that are pretty problematic when you try to apply them across the board. Overall not the right way to go about challenging ideas imo. This seemed like more of a quick emotional response, rather than one that really broke down concepts and rationalized their own thoughts. Missed the point here and there and threw out quick jabs that don’t really hold up under scrutiny. - Also I forgot to mention the sort of gatekeeping/somewhat elitist mentality of “don’t like it? Don’t play”. These sort of responses are just more “quick jabs”, they don’t actually challenge an argument and are just made to shut you down. He also sometimes takes statements and stretches them out with his own assumptions, drawing conclusions about how someone feels even though they never made that point. Also mentions early on that wavedashing is hard, and then uses wavedash as an example to say it’s hypocritical to suggest Nina can be hard to defend for how easy some moves/strings are to do. Kind of all over the place.
This dude is completely missing the point. TMM has always said she's very counterable to expert players. He never said she's a character that can win tournaments or beat high level character. The reason TMM hates the term "scrub-killer" is because it completely disregards the low/mid level of the game. Completely trash video, he's completely missed that TMM is talking to low/mid players who are getting rekt by Nina.
Well when one says scrub killer, they're referring to characters that low level players have difficulty dealing with. If Mainmans point is that low level players will have a hard time dealing with her, she's a scrub killer.
This is awesome...you go through the video correcting without being insulting and admitting when he has a valid point. Definitely my top streamer now my man. Tekken Dads FTW!
This is a great video because it highlights the difference between someone who is laterally minded (mainman) - someone who takes a broad open perspective. And someone who is linearly minded (B.minus) - someone who is contained and has a focused perspective. I'm not saying that one way is right and one way is wrong, though it is true that if take a low resolution perspective that we all are capable of and you focus in it gets less clear but if you step back you see the whole picture. So who can say more?
well, lol, i don´t care, i really love nina, for me she is the best character in the game because i play with her for 5 years, and i respect all of your opinions, she is a little abusive, maybe not just a little rsrsrsrs, and you have to play with the character you like... just enjoy the game and do your best, thats what i think.

Are you serious?! -Compared it to Hell Sweep (for Nina, you input a direction and press 3,4,4... For a Mishima you input multiple directions in succession and then press 4) The skill involved is like a Panda to a Polar Bear, A crocodile to a Lizard. -"*Ridiculously Easy* to defend against" WHAT!? I'm Dead! I'm a Jin Main btw and Anna is more difficult than Nina 😉👍
In summary, characters with strings that have many variations are a lot cheesier than some other characters which works really well on beginners and low ranks, but are a lot more difficult to play in higher ranks. Definitely agree with TMM on this one as i've personally experienced this myself. Not every character is designed the same way e.g. katarina (string heavy) vs kazuya (strings are almost non existent) So yeah whoever that was, hopefully he exposes himself so he never talks mad shit again. haha :)
Back in 2018 when I was initially introduced to Tekken I immediately felt comfortable with Nina's strings because I was looking for a character that had many long reaching lows. From my perspective as a new player & looking back now retrospectively Nina was very much braindead, ranking into Genbu for my first character and first time ever playing Tekken. Subsequently I took a break from the game to focus more on R6 Siege and delegated my fighting game urges to MK11 because I wanted to learn the basic fundamentals of fighting games (spacing & frame data) from a much easier game that didn't require an entry level competitive player to learn 100 moves per character. It was very overwhelming but now I feel like since much time has passed, I'm growing out of strictly playing MK11 and welcoming the Mountain climb of learning what Tekken & Streetfighter have to offer. Since Streetfighter is notorious for completely wiping the slate with each new iteration of the game, I can get away with waiting for SF6 to come out to start learning. For the mean time, I'm learning how to play Lidia in Tekken 7 and eagerly awaiting Tekken 8
NiNA's NoT tHe onLY ChaRACter WiTH ANNoyiNg StriNGs ThO. ....ok? What's his point? That argument doesn't even apply here because TMM's argument was totally misunderstood. The burden is on the defender to make high speed identifications and specific reactions against a character that can perform cancels and rush you down. This guy is so butthurt that his character is being called out because it bruised his ego for playing a "difficult" character. Hell, even in the video showcasing how to counter Nina, the only counters were performed in training mode. Every single example in an online match was the opponent standing there getting mixed and being unable to fight back because they didn't know the one single option to escape.

I dont get that mentality either. I'm a Paul main player, I love the character, been using him since Tekken1. But I admit he has cheese to him even though he us well balanced. The only character in the game that doesnt have cheese is Shaheen. And screw that guy for trying to call out my baby Josie.

He is probably the least cheesy character in the game, with Kazumi a wee bit behind him.
@@grandpanoogie2665 the reason I wouldnt call his slide cheese is because it becomes obvious that he is setting up for slide. So it forces the Shaheen user to really think and guess "should I mix up and go for the launcher instead?" And if he does mix up and its blocked, he gets punished. You got the point.
The response is out of context of the original argument:
MainMan responded to the Nina counter video and didn't make a general statement.
you give a voice to my inner thoughts it is unreal
Honestly, I think I understand where this guy is coming from. He's absolutely clapped, and a massive insecure twat who's just bashing TMM on a personal level, don't get me wrong. But he's just so consumed by his personal experience and knowledge over Nina's gaps that he cannot seem to put himself in another's shoes, and see the strengths. When you're playing a character, you see the weak side, when you play against a character you see the strong side. I was the same, and I'll explain:
So on Soul Calibur 6, my character Grøh, I considered a mid-tier character who had problems opening up turtles.
(through the characters strengths, the strings are one of them.)

You're objectively correct Adrian. It's also NOT how every fighting game works - the degrees are very different if you compare say a Tekken and a SF at beginner to intermediate, even advanced levels.
So, if i'm a beginner, I have trouble against Nina and i find 2 videos talking about the strings that give me trouble against her:

Discussion/rebuttal videos where the opposing opinions are strawmen do nothing helpful for anyone other than those looking to garner a little clout. Thank you for making this response video MM.
*"I think you & I are in different worlds here"*
You're Tekken God Prime & he's an orange rank.
Just like you put it, both high ranks and non-players will have valuable opinions, and although high ranks will have useful opinions more often, perspective is something that simply takes into consideration a million more factors than just experience. I don't disagree with you and I don't agree with the argument against TMM but your comment was essentially calling a scrub someone who also calls others scrubs.
Maybe I took it too seriously but you get my point, lol
@@alessandroalbarello7223 @MrSamuelAdam4 or we could just say that its a well known *FACT* that TMM has been playing this game almost his whole life. A gargantuan experience > rank.
Why do people get triggered if the character they play is called easy ?
At this point we need Nina/Lee/Kazuya elitist movement. Hearing them talk about execution all day never gets old
Who plays lee and make videos though? Except our precious father
@heymomonia One lee players are all over reddit lol
This is awesome...you go through the video correcting without being insulting and admitting when he has a valid point. Definitely my top streamer now my man. Tekken Dads FTW!
This is a great video because it highlights the difference between someone who is laterally minded (mainman)
- someone who takes a broad open perspective.
And someone who is linearly minded (B.minus)
- someone who is contained and has a focused perspective.
I'm not saying that one way is right and one way is wrong, though it is true that if take a low resolution perspective that we all are capable of and you focus in it gets less clear but if you step back you see the whole picture. So who can say more?
TMM ruin this man all carrier in the nicest way...Legend.
Any RUclipsr that can get me to watch a 37-minute video all the way through definitely deserves a like and favorite.
I love how smart and professional TMM seems
What's the end-goal of this back and forth? I hope there's no end soon.
👀
Lul I pissed off a Nina player at my locals last week, by beating him with characters I hardly use.
You're doing God's work. Some people need anger management in their lives.
well, lol, i don´t care, i really love nina, for me she is the best character in the game because i play with her for 5 years, and i respect all of your opinions, she is a little abusive, maybe not just a little rsrsrsrs, and you have to play with the character you like... just enjoy the game and do your best, thats what i think.
Is a video game. Competitive, but still a video game. I love your attitude, more people should think alike. Have a nice day stranger.
This guy sounds like he didnt understand any of your points from the vid he was refering to.
Wow that guy just said every fighting game is the same wow I guess I should play scorpion on mk11 like I play devil Jin and play akuma on sf5 like heihachi that's dumb 😒
I feel like Nina players are just waifu enthusiasts that think there character is way harder than she really is and take any form of slight disagreement way too seriously like Chun players in sf5.
WTF is this man Taking about "Every Character has this" Bullshit!?
-There ain't no Cheese with Jin bro... he's strong, strong AF but there ain't no fast, fancy, safe string like DF,3,4,4
-This man Also compared Nina strings to Taunt Jet Upper.
Imagine defend to death a videogame character so uncharismatic as Nina.
I love nina's design though. Not the wedding thing but i always thought she was a cool character. The nina players on the other hand......
There’s a reason why I’ve been watching all your shit since 2012.
You’re completely fucking spot on in every way, YET again.
