I’ll be 68 next month. I first saw them in Detroit on November 17, 1967. One month before Wild Honey was released. The Soul Survivors, Buffalo Springfield and Strawberry Alarm Clock also on the bill.
I was born in '47. Good parents, small town from birth to adulthood. Married the girl next door in '69. 2021 now and we're happy together still. I am transported by these 60's songs. They put an ache of remembering into the core of me that I love but it comes with the knowing that we're into the winding down. That part isn't so sweet. My country had no wars while I'm here. Life has been good. We have enough money to see us through now. No one on earth is MORE fortunate than me.
I’ve been a huge fan of the Beach Boys for almost 40 years. One of my biggest regrets in life is never getting to watch them live. Their unique music will never be matched.
I saw the Beach Boys once in concert at the then Fabulous Forum in Inglewood. Once of the best concerts I ever been to!! Today's groups don't understand the word "harmonize" if it hit them head on!!
The beach boys had a sound at the time that blew people away, back then if you wanted to hear a song you had to pray it would come on the radio or go buy the record, when you had the record in your hands it was something special and you played it over and over again dancing in your room, friends and neighbors would come over to listen and switch records with you..those days are gone and it's sad really.
I've listened to the beach boys for many years now. Cutesy of my parents who played their records when i was a young boy.The picture show captures the most iconic and most beautiful lady the world had privilege to see.The youthful beauty of Marilyn captured for ever and for all to see, Amazing talents of the beach boys coupled with beautiful pictures of THE most iconic and beautiful stars of the big screen. what more can anyone ask for.Thank you so very much.
Always thought Al Jardine was the best vocalist - Help me Rhonda, Heroes and Villains, Cotton Fields back home just 3 I remember. I liked that each member had a chance to do lead vocals
Three great loves, I loved Norma Jean for her beauty, I loved The Crystals with their Phil Spector big wall sound, and I love anything by the Beach Boys, I am 74 years young.
Ya know, I've been a "Boys of summer" fan for more than 55 years...have listened and loved their music, time and time again. But, I gotta tell ya, this version is one of theeee best I've heard in my lifetime.
@Will Thank you Will. It's true what they say. Time is a great healer. It's been just over four months now and I am feeling much stronger, happier and more positive about the future. Thanks again. I appreciate you taking the time to care x
I'm a Millennial and I just can't get enough of this song. I grew up listening to The Beach Boys and all kinds of music from the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, etc. There's just something about the music from the 60s that strike a chord with me. This song along with countless other songs from this era will continue to age like fine wine as time goes on. The beautiful harmonies, the amazing arrangement, it just doesn't get any better than this. This, ladies and gentlemen, is music. Good music.
For our 50th anniversary we had a vrbo. All 3 kids, their spouses and all 6 grand kids were together. We'll grrampa and gramma started the festivities out by dancing to this song. Grand daughters boyfriend had a sound system that we danced to for hours. It was a good start.
They played a wonderful riff+ the live version in japan 2012 is great. It was the very last time the original beach boys played together. This music inspire much musicians... Good band 👍👍👍
Wow! What an unexpected pleasure to stumble onto this terrific cover. As only great bands can do, the Beach Boys took the Crystals classic, owned it and totally breathed new life into it. I now have a new favorite Beach Boys tune to add to the others. The cherry on top of all this greatness- what a genius idea to match it up to give tribute to Marilyn in this manner. Seeing what a fresh-faced beauty she was before Hollywood and yes, the Kennedys, chewed her up and spat her out is truly eye-opening and heart breaking. Time now to bookend this by bookending this tribute with Elton John's touching tribute "Goodbye Norma Jean". R.I.P. Marilyn
Earl Leaf was their publicist he took the last photos of MM but I think they were B/W then he became more of a gossip columist explaining how Mike punched the window out on a pimpmobile ...
These pictures of Marilyn are the most beautiful photos ever taken. Her hair is it's natural color and all of the photos are tasteful. We never cared for Marilyn, per se, but this clip totally changed our opinions. She was indeed a beautiful girl, and at this particular photo shoot, probably innocent. What happened to her was a real shame.....getting involved with a bunch of vultures like she did. Too bad she didn't have anyone in her life that cared enough about her to warn her.
This song remembers me on a anniversary from my Granddad and Grandma, who were married for 50 years. In the danceroom was a jukebox and this song was played many times. I was a young kid from arround 10 years old but I never will forget that moment I was dancing on this beautiful song, not realizing this song would stay with me forever and ever
I was 12 years old when u died. I was really sad , not cause the world lost Marilyn but because i lost Norma Jean. Its amazing how souls travel through time & space seemingly apart but 4ever connected. Love u teacher.
The worst band in American history. So bad, one bandmate jumped in the ocean and sunk to the bottom. For all that surfing, dude fell to the bottom of the water. LMAO ROLF LMAOR ROFL
I'm here in 2024 and these boys never get old, just fantastic music.
So very true❤❤❤❤
I am 78 still enjoying Beachboys like I used to like them in my teens
I'm 77 and this still brings back beautiful memories! It's amazing how the oldies never get old. (Mike Scott)
I'm much younger.
This song crosses all lines.
Mike Scott, I couldn't agree with you more....Spot on.....
Dear Marilyn, What a beautiful, sensitive, misunderstood woman. RIP.
The Harmonies from this time period are unmatched. Not sure why artists don't try to make music like this today. Pure simple and beautiful .
Because today artists don't even know what vocal harmonies are.
It's called "wall of sound". Invented by a prosecuted murderer. But that's another story. It's great harmony.
it is because all the good music has been written...and all the good songs have been sung..!
BEAUTIFUL 🇺🇸 💙 🎶🎵
Sadly the listeners has changed, todays brats need different stuff
2024 and is still pure gold
Masterpiece never gets old.
The beach boys are wonderful and charismatic - their songs immortal !
Agree!
Im 70 ,the beach boys bring back memories of a joyful youth , electric times, war ,sadness all rolled into one
Norma Jeane a universal beauty of perfection. Greatest poets wrote songs to keep her alive.
I 've been been a fan of The Beach Boys most of my life, I'm 65, and never get tired of their music. Dec. 19, 2019
Brian Mullin yes me too such memories ❤️

Like me. I am 65 too.

Love the beach boys. All their songs!!
No other group can match the beach boys their harmonizing is fantastic
I love the Beach Boyz.I guess you never Heard of The Association.
Crosby, Still & Nash, The Hollies, The Byrds all had better harmonizing
@@jamesbutler6253 All great groups, but no, they are not better than the Beach Boys at harmony
@@jamesbutler6253 The Byrds had better two part harmonies, but not better harmonies with more parts like the beach boys did. CSN is alright but nah
An others group: Bee Gees
Marilyn was so beautiful 😊💕
Wonderful listening to this song and looking at the lovely pictures of her ☀️

@@edl5585 A stunning part of the Beach Boys canon. Along with the Hollies they must have been the best vocalists of the rock era.
They still tour. I saw them 4 years ago in Los Angeles. They have a show coming up again.
I too was born in 47 in the UK
Married my school sweetheart in 69.
Lucky baby boomers generation. 60's music sensational
Lots of cheerful music is made by The Beach Boys. Old tune but gold, not forgotten.
It's July 2024. I'm 75. And I miss.......everything .....from back then. Wholesome goodness.
Same, but mostly I miss being in my teens and 20's!!! And of course a few of the girls, damn.........

The great Beach Boys, there's no one can beat them, the good old days.
I was lucky and saw them at Vienna Donauinsel Fest 1998 ❤
I’m here in 2024. The original Beach Boys are still great!😊

Married my HS sweetheart. This takes me back to those wonderful time in the 1960s….we have been married for 44 years…
Hello Kim, how are things going with you?
One of their best.
Al Jardine did a great job on the lead vocals of this song. The Beach Boys knew how to even make their covers sound like originals.
I love the way Al accents certain words in the vocals along with the beat. I don't know if he did it on purpose but it's always sounded great to me...
Believe that it's the origal was released on an album before the chiffons

I disagree. When I hear this song I think of the Crystals singing. Not the Beach Boys. Mine opinion.
They don't own it.The Beach Boys did a great cover version of The Crystal's classic hit.
Al Jardine the men with the 5 star voice, great job Mr Jardine!

A fabulous Spector wall of sound done by experts.
