It reminds me of my late father, he knew every word out of the entire song! To this day, I still love it. Right up to this very minute, it's still rare finding blacks loving so-called white music! For those who are clueless or rather not in the know about music, is that music has no color and genre named white! it is simply called music. PERIOD. I'm Bakwena, Welkom, Free State, South Africa.
I's so wonderful seeing someone like Brian come all the way back after so many years of struggle with his demons. To think of all the music the world never got. Wow.

These guys know the best mics. The one Brian Wilson is using looks like an old Telefunken U-147 or a 1940s Neumann U-47 (Capitol now has 16 of the vintage and VERY desirable mics) -around 70yrs old. Not everything old is outdated. It's so cool that these are still the best. What a great tune!
I was walking my dog past the Malibu Colony area on Malibu Beach back in 1984. I walked passed this guy who made a nice comment about my dog Buzzed. He asked me what his name was as he petted him. When I told him he had a smirk on his face and said, "Yeah, just like me" and got up and was on his way when I thought to myself-that was Brian Wilson!
They are out on the road this year you should go see them they still sound fantastic. And they’ll have Blondie Chapman with them who will blow your way
Utterly remarkable. Even in this abbreviated iteration their sense of harmony, diction and timing is timeless. Not sure there has ever been or ever will be a band as influential and iconic in their complex harmonies.

Every time I hear that song it takes me back to a simpler time. Amazing to hear them redo it with such clarity after all these years. One of my all-time favorite songs.
Wow, amazing and incredibly impressive, whether you like this song or this music or this group, anyone who knows anything about music (I have been a musician for 40 years) has to be impressed watching musicians of this caliber in the studio. Harmonies are spot on, alternating lead vocals, all of the musicians are tight, and everyone playing at the same time rather than each musician playing their part individually and then dubbing it all together. They still got it!

Music is dreamy, etherial and good. Johnny, do not allow music to take over the life. Music can be an addiction for perfection so be mindful of this love/addiction. Get out and do something rather crazy like learning to play golf. I am not kidding. We musicians are inherently kinda nurdly so we need a kinda mellow activity like the game of golf whereas we 'measure everything' so we can succeed in a non-music activity. Or whatever physical activity to get us out and about!

This is the most Incredible demonstration of harmonies in music ever ! Everyone covered their parts perfectly...couldn't be better!
I's so wonderful seeing someone like Brian come all the way back after so many years of struggle with his demons. To think of all the music the world never got. Wow.
I actually got emotional at the end with the lyrics being changed to “Best trip I’ve ever been on”.That was nice..
Spoilers lol
goose bumps
Me too.
Its life... A journey can be both good and bad... And in the end, in totality.. the best trip ever. Love this version.

I cried through the whole song, I don't know why but I've always cried when I heard this. And it breaks my heart to see the beach boys getting older 😢 But they will always be #1 in my book!!! Love you Beach Boys! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
same here! 😢🤗
The song is melancholic.
Its pure magic what I just listened and watched
mirlo10 and after 50 years and Keith Richards levels of drug abuse and they can still go.
Mill 10 I know, just outstanding as always!!
Ya
i am stunned and emotional at the same time!!! kept playing it over and over.....magic...
Great performance from the entire band. Great musicianship. Love seeing Brian & Al together. They always worked so well as a unit.
"Old never mean useless.
Old is very valuable" :)
Great encounter. Cherish the memory.
How the hell does Al Jardine still have that good of a voice?
He is good but his son Matt hits all the high notes.
They are out on the road this year you should go see them they still sound fantastic. And they’ll have Blondie Chapman with them who will blow your way
It is amazing and impressive, isn't it !!
Al has taken care of himself through the years. I heard he's not a drinker or smoker so that makes a massive difference.
Talent on loan from God.
This is so complexed with all the harmonies amd instruments, voices. It is so good
Wonderful. Difficult to keep my eyes off Brian and just marvel at his genius arrangements.
A thing of joy and beauty. Moving and resplendent.
Hats off to you guys. Thank you so much for the wonderful sounds, good to see you still going strong. Good on ya boys!
Utterly remarkable. Even in this abbreviated iteration their sense of harmony, diction and timing is timeless. Not sure there has ever been or ever will be a band as influential and iconic in their complex harmonies.
Simon and Garfunkel.
@@gavinberriman5227 ya think? Except on the odd occasion like The boxer and El condor pasa, I don't think the arrangements were ever this complex. Just my two cents. Don't beat up.
@@zapkvr Simon and Garfunkel did a lot of great music but never had the multi voice harmonies of the Beach Boys. The Beach Boys gave voice to a culture and defined it and spread it around the world.
The Beatles?
The Eagles also had great harmonies
I praise God for creating each of the "Beach Boys." Such individuals, yet they learned how to work with and relate to each other in wonderful ways. Our family members are great fans, and though only my husband & I originally heard them as teens, we're now in our 70s and our 5 kids (all in their 40s) love the Beach Boys as much as we do! May Jesus Christ bless and keep their families.
Why wouldn't God bless all humans....I would...
2019 my kids heard the Beach Boys for the first time and can't stop singing spontaneously around the house THIS MUSIC IS OFFICIALLY TIMELESS
I am 67 now and was born in Hong Kong. Every time when I listen to this song, it reminds me the memories of my first trip to America in 1982, San Francisco, Oakland, Yosemite and LA etc. I bet I was surrounded by the radio playing this song back then
lucky
Noch immer gut bei Stimme, die Herren. Damals, 1965, dachte ich, das ist der größte Song aller Zeiten. Kommt heute auch noch frisch wieder
I was nine years old when this song came out. It was all over the radio! I ran out and bought the single. It never gets old. I really enjoyed this take on it. Thanks for sharing.
I don't see how, with this, Wouldn't It be Nice, and God Only Knows, that Pet Sounds couldn't have been marketed and promoted into a huge record!! Just goes to show you the idiocy and blind ignorance of "the record company." Smdh
Did it have the orange and yellow swoosh label?
@@catherinerider232 And don't leave out "I Know There's An Answer."
have you heard dwight yoakam's version?
@@moonbeamskies3346 Yes! I bought it at E.J. Korvette’s record dept. in 1966.
They finally let Al sing lead on this one, bet he's been waiting since he showed Brian the freakin song.
TheClevelandSteamer well said steamer...if al can sing the song this good now just imagine what he could've done with it when he came up with it...
TheClevelandSteamer Altho a genius acid took its toll on Brian but i agree its nice to see Al taking the lead..Am 48 but would loved to have been teenager in the 60s,i was born too late
All that matters is that Mike isn't anywhere to be found. : P

The Sloop John B sailed with lead vocals by Al. Brian and Matt do backup and it turned out darn well.
Wow. I could watch that forever. Al Jardine and The genius Brian Wilson.
Brilliant 👌
These harmonies are SO beautiful they literally bring tears to my eyes.
Can clearly see Brian's love and happiness towards Al throughout this performance. Hopefully Brian's mind was flooded with lots of beautiful memories of times before he gor sick!
Brian Wilson was the best friend I never met back in the day. His words and music spoke directly to the eager but clueless teen I once was. I bought just about each album that came available, then wore them out on my little portable GE record player. ❤
BagsAsjsgtaA.Kenny,w,
Every time I hear that song it takes me back to a simpler time. Amazing to hear them redo it with such clarity after all these years. One of my all-time favorite songs.
Yup. Sloop John B is most def a classic of all time. At least, for me! :-) 🙂
Been in love with this song for 50 years and not looking for a divorce.
A Beach Boys classic you never get tired of . Great vocals by Brian, Al and Matt .
Listen to the undertones do their beach boy rendition...youd be amazed.
Dustoff Win 😀👍🏼
Goes back to my mothers Jimmie Rodgers album. 1963.
So have I!
I love how Brian so matter of factly talks about one of the greatest arrangements in music history.
Saw it live... sounded just like this- like traveling back in time. Such a great song, these guys are so talented. Pet Sounds!
PERSONAL FAVE here. CA Girl here/born & raised. LOVE the BEACH BOYs🙏🎉
Goosebumps.. they say listen to strums. Took me many harvesty moons.. to hear all of the above. Bow to
Dang, this sounds just about as good as the original recording. I love the acoustic rendition. Absolutely wonderful.
Shout out from upstate NY . . . Al Jardine (who we consider a local) just got inducted into Rochester's Music Hall of Fame. Very well deserved!!!!
Old Beach Boys are still here and they have good voices. Thanks Brian and Al ❤
Fantastic, still very good, Matt Jardine has a beautiful high voice , Oh my goodness.
They still got it!
best trip of my life, is I'm born in 56 gotten to hear at an yearly age the Beatles, the Stones, Elvis, Dean Martin, and so many more great bands and solo singers male and females, but for there sound, voices, harmonys, the Beacboys are and have always bin my favorite band of all Times!!
THANKS BOYS...YOU WILL NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU MEANT TO US!!!!! XXXX i get so emotional watching you guys....knowning what you all went through...thank you for the absolute joy you bring..xx

How are you doing today?
Happy new year

"This is the best trip I've ever been on". Almost an epitaph for these guys and their career as The Beach Boys. Especially poignant for fans as old as me, who have been listening to their music since the beginning. Because we, too, are facing the end of our "trip" of life.
So true.
I hope you're doing well.
I missed that!
Went back and listened to the end again, thank you!
Kudos to Matt Jardine for this vocal performance
wow.. i just want to hear and play it over and over.. what a song. great musicians and singers..
If you were around for the original, and you know the band’s backstory, this video can be very emotional.
I so so so get that, and thank you for bringing it up. I have tears in my eyes.
Would love to see you guys when you come to Casino Rama.Hopefully.Your longtime fans Rob and Kathy.
Sometimes all I have left in life is music like this to stand alongside with.
Jesus is life
Music is dreamy, etherial and good.
WOW 😮still awesome!!!
Imagine making an album as amazing as Pet Sounds, and being able to perform it 50 years later with the same guys. Incredible.
Such a feel good song, The Beach Boys were such a part of my life as I was young boy in the 60’s and they were always on the radio. When I went in the Army in the 80’s and was stationed on the East coast they eased a little homesickness for California when I would play their music, they were an amazing group.
God bless the boys from the beach ⛱ 🙏.
I can't stop listening to this. How amazing are their voices even today?
This is a real classic by Al and Brian. Lets not forget Matt .
The background singers help.
Amen to that
I like this song more and more as the years roll by.
These voices from our past are so conforting. They’re nothing like that today.
Dang that sounded so good! If you only heard this video without seeing it, I would think the singers were in their twenties. Their voices have not aged.
Pure excellence, harmonies that reach your soul, makes your heart feel joy, happiness, and a sound ONLY The Beach Boys will always have. Outstanding !
Nice version. Nice to see them switch verses. I always enjoyed Brian and Al's vocal blend.
Surprised how they still are playing it incredibly amazing and The Beach Boys songs are all beautiful, also for the people that say they started in late 70s they did not they actually started in EARLY 60s.
Al Jardine has the voice of a young man. Incredible.
Top G
Been loving these guys since early 70s when I was a kid. My old man listened to Beach Boys all the time, he had all their records. Band members are old now, my dad is old and I am getting older. Life is scary when you realize people that you love will pass soon and then you are next. Life is beautiful but it sucks when your time is up!
