    Don't worry Molly - we all cried when we saw that prom dress in "Pretty in Pink". I saw it in the theater & actually yelled "Y'all made that gorgeous vintage prom dress into THAT?!!"

      yeah, I was sitting in front of you. Actually, you talked all the way through the movie. Really annoying and self absorbed. Thought you were so damned witty, too. You weren't. Just loud.
      And your eating habits - damn! - all the open mouthed slurping and chewing and lip smacking of triple-buttered popcorn, raisonettes, good 'n' plenty and Diet Coke was disgusting.

    • @warmcozy
      @warmcozy 10 месяцев назад +4

      @@pamelaolson5614 Then somebody grossly underestimated teenagers, because they would do a way better job than that or if they couldn’t they would have to buy a nice already made. There are some seriously talented teenagers out there when it comes to fashion design. That’s been the case for decades, many decades, now.

    The designer that did her prom dress in Pretty In Pink did her character dirty. I remember really being into fashion as a young girl & loved her character because she was so relatable in the movie. When she came out in the prom dress for the big reveal, I was so disappointed. But Molly Ringwald is a phenomenal actress so it didn't matter.

    • @reikun86
      @reikun86 10 месяцев назад +22

      And the designer made some bangers in Streets of Fire and The Rocketeer. I’m not sure what happened here.

    • @tygerstripes3752
      @tygerstripes3752 10 месяцев назад +57

      I agree; that dress is also cruel to the character Molly played, because she's made it herself and aspires to be a designer. And then we get that hideous dress. Made me sad as a viewer.

    • @dg5175
      @dg5175 10 месяцев назад +28

      I like the choker part. Maybe if they did without the puffy sleeves it would've looked better. But at the same time, I feel like it oddly kind of fits because she's an aspiring designer and doesn't have much money, so in a way it shows she worked with what she had. ❤

      What's the word for those diamond cutouts that are supposed to give the waist that hourglass shape? I'm an idiot and maybe I'm wrong, I think the dress was boxy in that way?

    • @cc1k435
      @cc1k435 10 месяцев назад

      @Yoyomu205 It happens a lot, actually, that a school district has good programs and test scores so wealthy people willingly send their kids there whether they have to or not. Sometimes, those same schools also have poorer neighborhoods within their boundaries. You see a real difference between the two groups within the student body. I suppose it is meant to be character building? 🤷

      @@cc1k435 And i always wondered why the socks from the outsiders who were rich attend public school and how was ponyboy able to go to that school since he was so poor it didn't make sense the socks were suppossed to be in a private school

    • @cc1k435
      @cc1k435 10 месяцев назад

      @Yoyomu205 That's a good example, actually. Tulsa in the 1960s wouldn't have been a very big city, really, and there wouldn't have been multiple school districts for the white kids, anyway. Native American and black kids might have had different situations going on, but that's a whole other bunch of societal issues.

    back in 1986 she was filming Fresh Horses in Cincinnati around Xmas and I was shopping at Saks 5th Avenue with my mum and I bumped into Molly Ringwald while she was shopping at the Lancome counter. I actually saw her father first. He was up on the 2nd floor and he is blind so I remembered that and then we spotted Molly at the counter. I just smiled. I get what she’s saying about the Pretty in Pink dress. However, the story portrays her dad, who made very little money, purchasing the one dress for her; the other polka dot dress from her friend. She had to piece the two together. Love you Molly! I identified so much with Andie, growing up in the 80s. She had such great style!

    Honestly, the dress will be forever iconic. I loved it, and befitted for the trends in the 80s.

    I totally agree about the Pretty in Pink dress - I was 13 when that movie came out and loved the movie, but the clothes, not so much (way too much floral) and particularly that dress.

    *Shorter, Side-swept hair does more justice to her soft, unique features & highlights her natural beauty better.*

    Ohhhh, I'm so glad it wasn't just me!😂 I always thought that pink dress was so unflattering & looked, well, hand-made.

    Thank you, Molly. Your outfit in the Breakfast Club, sent me down a journey of long skirts. Even today, I love my pencil skirts all thanks to you! ❤

    I completely adore everything about Molly Ringwald, so stylish and an icon for a lot of us! Actually named my daughter after her and she turned out to be a strong and beautiful redhead, go figure! Crazy story but my brother ended up flying her as a pilot one day so I’ll take that connection! Just love her ❤

    It’s always a miracle that an 80’s teen actor is doing fine today.

    She is absolutely beautiful and she is such an icon!!!! She literally made all awkward teenage girls in the 80s feel it was gonna be ok and sure enough it was when you held her up as a role model for yourself!..another one of her super powers id say!!!.... She was a gift to us from the heavens!!... and she still looks like Molly and hasnt morphed into some caricature of herself which im sooo happy about!! She deserves any kind of resurgence!! ❤
