periphery incorporators a TON of jazz in their music. been doing it for over a decade. Also just saw them play this song live 2 days ago. it SLAAAAAAAAAAAAPED
My favorite band and I love Spencer's vocals! Saw them last night and they played this song and it was awesome! Also got to hear them do Reptile which is an epic masterpiece. They are known to add different styles and are very creative.
I’m about to see them in a couple of days, do you remember the setlist? I’m introducing a friend to this band and I’d like him to know the songs they are playing, thanks in advance.
Tracks like "All New Material" and "Racecar" are PURE GOLD off their first self titled album. You guys will love everything off P2, Hail Stan, and their Newest Album most definitely. They are amazing!
Indeed. A monster track. It's an overall journey, but I think from about 8.30 onwards (timing is open to debate) it is one of the greatest pieces of progressive metal ever recorded. It has everything you'd ever want from a Periphery song, including some of the heaviest, fattest riffs you've ever heard, and some gorgeous melodies too. The strings are beautiful when they come in......everything just works. It's a fucking masterpiece.
Jake Bowen is John Petrucci's nephew btw, must be something in the water. The track Satellites really shows off Spencers vocal abilities and is way different than this.
Yupp. There are not many bands that can pull up a song like this. i mean - wtf - "We do what WE want. And if we want to mix metalcore with a Meshuggah-ish solo and jazz with saxofone - we just DO IT. You did not expect it? So what? FU!" Hahaha. I love them for doing this shit! Nice that you got into this, too. They are a band of f*cking geniuses.
Hey guys! Love all of the Periphery reactions you have done! This song slaps as does this whole album! In regards to copyright, I think anything from Periphery 4 onward should be safe because they are their own record label now and have been known to be chill about copyright and everything. It was their old label that was the issue! Also to my mans, your energy is so awesome and contagious. Love the attitude as well as the appreciation for my favorite band!!
Consistently reviewing Periphery is why I will be giving you a sub. When i saw them in concert debuting this album it was a trance. World class musicians hinding under a bias musical blanket. If only the majority of Metallica loving jazz musicians would listen to more of this.
Love these reactions guys! Periphery are my favourite band of all time and I’ve listened to a lot of metal, these guys never disappoint, first sax in their discography I believe, tracks to have a listen to are “Stranger things”, “Luck as a constant” “Satellites” the list goes on!!
Hell yeah 🤘 what a fun reaction! I felt the same about Spencer's vocals and then it clicked and I haven't stop listening. For song 4 I would recommend the song Stranger Things. It's groovy. Cheers🤘
I love a few years back when alpha and omega came out and everyone wanted to write them off and said they changed.. this band just creates epic monster tunes!!
You GOT to check out wax wings from them. Another new song by them but a different vibe from the singles youve heard. You'll hear a whole new type of sound from them and i think youd really like it!
I would recommend, on your own, to check out The Event from their Juggernaut album and compare the chord changes in the chorus. There’s numerous call backs to previous tracks.
Awesome reaction guys. You need to check out their songs The Event/The Scourge/Psychosphere, back to back, trust me. Both Juggernaut albums are a deep dive themselves.
Knew this track would fucking rock you two. After the way you reacted to Blood Eagle and Atropos, I already knew you were in. And yeah, I get what you're saying about Spencer's vocals. A lot of people don't like them. I think they work though, and you'll find that out after you do a few more of their best songs. The new album comes out on Friday, but I think you should get to Reptile first. Let's just rip that band-aid off now. 17 minutes of destruction.
Periphery really killing it, a ton of newer bands are killing it as a matter of fact, ya love to see it! 🤘🏼🤘🏼Album very soon! Also CHVRCH BVRNER or Reptile could be next for Periphery ✌🏼
man, im watching your periphery reactions in chrono order... your paterons are throwing you in the deep end of periphery without mercy 🤣 i know u guys dont like spoilers, but ill just say theyre not always this difficult to swallow.
These Djent daddys write, produce, mix, engineer, create drum plug ins, guitar pedals AND have their own record label lol
Masters of the trade
And each have their own signature guitar with some of the biggest, most iconic guitar brands.
Reptile lets go!!

The saxo player at the jazzy part is Jørgen Munkeby, the singer of SHINING (NOR), I recomend you to listen their song "I Won't Forget".
Tracks like "All New Material" and "Racecar" are PURE GOLD off their first self titled album. You guys will love everything off P2, Hail Stan, and their Newest Album most definitely. They are amazing!

Stranger Things off of Juggernaut: Omega is a really good song as is just about anything on the two-disc set.
