I hope you have seen the live version of this song from Red Rocks? If not, you need to check it out.
As well as the "Ghost of Perdition" live from the same show.. Such amazing live versions.
Last time I saw Opeth live was two years ago, managed to get into their tour opening "grand rehearsal" gig in Tallin, Estonia in this small club.. Amazing..
It was their first live show with the new drummer and after all that lockdown periods we had. :P
And in June I'll be seeing them live again.

I actually very liked this reaction. It's refreshing to see reactions from someone who know what they talk about. Honestly far form my favorite Opeth song but would be interesting to see reaction to something like Bleak or Lotus Eater.

Thank you! We are shooting for that sort of niche, and absolutely will be coming back to more of Opeth's older stuff in the future.

Whole tone scale in the intro, rarely used outside of jazz. Love how they contrast that with that low A tuning in the main riff that comes on, which is everything but jazz. Mikael's ideas are kinda cool, like, instead of trying hard to be "metal" he suddenly dropped growling (and he was good at it too!), instead of trying to be "progressive" and what not, he just started to write these mega basic songs.
And I guess in the long run, that's true progressiveness for a band. Heh.

It’s called living the true spirit of punk or art.

Saw this live when they toured to support the album...so much heavier live, made me appreciate it differently (as a fan of the growls era).

Yeah, it was the opening to the show I saw back in 2016, and did sound even better live.

We might have to do that, I've heard of them lots but never gave them a listen, and yeah Dimmu Borgir rips
