      Yeah but we have never seen actual photos on any social media or the trailers which I think is weird

    • @Altasren
      @Altasren Год назад

      Not really. I wager that Cribbins' performance was just a cameo -- he was, after all, a very old man and wheelchair-bound -- and fans would be put out if what they put in a trailer was just about all there was to see. @@humanbeing2299

      I think the story might be more about him than we think and a way to keep that secret is to kinda focus on everyone else who is in it first, that way when the story of Wilf and The Doctor being drawn together is revisited again, we are more surprised. I do think RTD might break a nations heart once again. @@humanbeing2299

      @@humanbeing2299I assume he was probably gonna have a somewhat bigger part but probably never was huge. My guess is he's just gonna be in it for a brief emotional nice moment maybe towards the end

    • @MythicFox
      @MythicFox Год назад +15

      @@humanbeing2299It's been suggested that he passed away before they could film all of his scenes, so it's likely he's in a much smaller role than they'd hoped and they don't want to overhype his presence. Especially if it might look like they were milking it for the press.

    I do think that Wilf is one of the Doctor's best companions, he represents everything the Doctor admires about humanity. His hope, determination, compassion, his fascination with astronomy and all the other little things in life. Bernard Cribbins played the role amazingly and I thank him for it.

    Wilf was such a beloved character, its fitting it's Bernard Cribbins' final role. I'm going to tear up when I see his appearance in the 60th. I'll also remember the time he got pie'd by John Cleese in an episode of Fawlty Towers.

      From black & white "Carry On" through a 1960s Dr Who film, the Wombles, and disasters at Fawlty Towers, and many, many others, until Dr Who in the 2000s, Bernard has been a constant through my life...yes, I remember those old films and seeing the 1960s Dr Who Daleks Invasion Of Earth film at the time of release , loving his voices for the Wombles in the early 1970s, and so on, and was so chuffed to see him back in Dr Who with the Christmas Invasion....when he then appeared more frequently it was very special, and to know that we should be seeing his last work in the new specials will be so bitter/sweet after his passing.... he was a very talented man, and always a gentleman...
      He also made some some very funny novelty record singles (45rpm) and at least one album back in the early 1960s which are worth checking out...... He was a very quiet , and gentle genius... 😉
      Goodbye old friend indeed... RIP Bernard.... you are sorely missed... 😢

    Originally, Wilf’s role was going to be filled by Donna’s father, Geoff Noble. However, the actor, Howard Attfield, died after filming his scenes for Partners in Crime. The production team wanted to avoid recasting the character as a sign of respect, so they made Bernard Cribbins’ character Donna’s grandad.
    You can see Geoff Noble in The Runaway Bride, and he’s the person who bought the lottery ticket at the end of The End of Time.
    Rest in peace, Bernard Cribbins and Howard Attfield.

    Wilfred is possibly the only person in the universe that The Doctor considers equal to him. Nevermind the perception of age gap, the soul these two shared was what really made the Doctor almost tear the universe just to save Wilf for. Rose healed that inner wonder and child-like amazement that The Doctor lost in The Time War. Wilfred was that serious gentleman attire that The Doctor hid for reasons even The Doctor himself wanted to hide. Wilfred really brought out that titanic perception of The Doctor to scale and talked to him like a person

    Wilfred Mott..... The inclusion of this man in the Doctor's travels as Donna's grandfather, it was just one of the most rewarding pieces of Modern Who I never knew I needed. Just with his "Lord' she's a cactus" line, or “I did my duty. 'You never killed anyone.' No. No, don't say that like it's shameful.", and "I shan't it's Christmas!" simply being this beautiful human we all came to love throughout series 4 and Christmas special. I always shed a tear on seeing Bernard now - I genuinely miss him. He's been able to reduce me to tears since I was little - almost as long ago as the start of Dr Who! Just his sheer acting talent, nothing sinister about him at all. He could reduce me to tears of laughter as well, because he could be very silly - and, darn it, very silly is _extremely important!_ Fortunately he was silly far more often than moving.
    He was on children's TV when I was young, back when kids TV started after the end of school (around 3:30. There wasn't much, if any, TV after the lunchtime Watch With Mother - which I genuinely remember - until then. TV channels would shut down at different times of the day), up until the news at 5:40, after The Magic Roundabout or similar drew our time to a close.
    (The news was always my dad's "hush! I'm watching! ... snore..." time. Though if we turned the channel to BBC 2 or ITV - our only options - to see what was on, he'd wake up and shout "I was watching that!" 🤣. I miss Dad too.)
    There was - still is, I think - a wonderful storytelling programme called Jackanory. Big names of the theatre & film, along with other famous people, would sit surrounded by toys and read a book to us. The pictures in the books would be shown as and when they were required. Such a simple concept, but for some kids it was the only time they had a story read to them outside of school. Bernard was a favourite reader of mine.
    He was in so many wonderful things, but my immediate thought is always as the porter in The Railway Children. If you get the chance to watch that, do! It's a beautiful story - you will cry, but I won't say when (don't worry, it's kid friendly) - and it's set in a beautiful area. He was - as he always was - freaking awesome in it! I was so glad to see him in DW though. As ever, his acting was note perfect.
    I miss him dreadfully.
