B.O.T. | Transformers: Generation 1 | Season 2 | E49 | Hasbro Pulse
The Combaticons pursue a personal agenda, which the Protectobots gladly interrupt. The only one to make it out in one piece, Swindle cuts his losses at the other Combaticons' expense by selling them off piece by piece. Megatron, however, wants all of the Combaticons back and gives Swindle proper motivation a timed bomb placed in his head. Racing against time, Swindle finds his efforts complicated by three college students and their B.O.T. science project. It turns out that they unknowingly used Brawl's personality component, which not only makes B.O.T. 'unique' it also makes it deadly dangerous. All this and another deadly Megatron plot against the Autobots, too.

It certainly did.
And after that episode, nothing would be the same ever again. New season, new characters and new leaders.
Too bad the season didn't end more spectacular since this looks like a filler episode.
That's why I view "Cosmic Rust" as the Season 2 finale, because it feels more like a season ender than this episode did.
Tbh every EP fells like a filler. Some episodes are just better than others
This episode annoys me how Bruticus doesn’t do anything and is screwed up.
The battle near the end is kinda neat tho
Scramble city should have been the finale
This should have gotten a daytime Emmy. What incredible writing and animation!
0:55 swindles dramatic "OW!" had me dying
Despite his greedy, evil, destructive inclinations, Swindle was civic-minded enough to dump the debris of his comrades at a designated junkyard. Swindle doesn't litter
Gotta make that bag
As bad as this episode is, I can't help but smile at Swindle, because his voice actor was Johnny Haymer. Haymer was also supply sergeant Zelmo Zale on "M*A*S*H," so it's kind of like he was playing the same character on "Transformers."
I remember the first time I saw this episode of what happened after the Combaticons encounter with Defensor as Bruticus as one shot from the second Autobot combiner team quite literally and figuratively blew the Decepticon gestault to pieces and the Combaticons were the same well except for Swindle and needless to say I was shocked as to what Swindel did to his own teammates selling parts of them like they were nothing to him.
All of them were political prisoners. Perhaps he needed the money to raise his own private army and he had big plans much like megatron but more as a business empire.
My God learn to use a period
It's funny that we wouldn't see this version of Swindle again till Transformers Animated came out and that version of Swindle was almost identical to the G1 Swindle they even had the same personalities the only differences were they're vehicle modes whereas the G1 Swindle was a WW2 Jeep the Swindle from the Animated series looked like a humvee or some similar vehicle they even had identical cannons on they're right arms they also had the same color scheme and optic colors even the shape of they're heads were the same.
Just realized the building across the street from the school is probably on fire because of the two psychopathic students modifying the laser...
Swindle's line: Make deal, not war. A greedy one, isn't he?
"Listen biological blob. Either tell me where that personality component is or be the 1st man IN the moon." is good too.
This was a weird way to close out the pre-movie G1 cartoons.
Agreed
Yeah, this episode should have never seen the light of day...Revenge of Bruticus should have been the season finale.
It acts perfectly as a filler but definitely not as a season finale.

So many transitions between filler scenes

@@mr.bootleg646 *in Rainier Wolfcastle voice* That's the joke.
So, this is the one TFwiki calls the worst one ever.
I'd say it's *one* of the worst, but I do have good news. From what I can tell, this episode isn't canon. The size proportions are deliberately exaggerated from beginning to end (including human doors that are the perfect size for Transformers), the bomb in Swindle's head is a questionable idea (though it was possibly a bluff), and the story has too many parts that just don't make sense. In short, this episode is actually the students' excuse to the teacher for not getting their science project done. It doesn't illustrate what actually happened; it's an exaggeration of the facts. That being said, it doesn't really make the episode any better.

I’m aware these are old comments but those who died, after this episode (hence they’re gone from the show, by season 3, which airs post-movie), are (yes, you’re right about these seven Autobots) Brawn, Ironhide, Prowl, Ratchet, Wheeljack, Windcharger and (gets killed offscreen, in the movie, hence you don’t know about his death, thereafter, in season 3’s ‘Dark Awakening’) Huffer. I refuse to believe that these nine (better) Autobots were killed - Grapple, Hoist, Inferno, Red Alert, Skids, Smokescreen, Sunstreaker, Tracks and Trailbreaker (at least, in said episode, Daniel doesn’t say *their* names, in the scene of the Autobot mausoleum, which would have forced me to accept that they were). And yes, I’m aware Optimus Prime dies, but at least (unlike all those other seven Autobots) he’s eventually brought back to life.
I’m aware the inexplicit disappearances, of the nine Autobots I consider ‘better’, is owing to how, by the movie (and especially thereafter, in season 3), Hasbro had discontinued their toys, but they could have at least used them less frequently, like they did with (interestingly, four of the Mini Autobots, who made their debuts in season 2, pre-movie) Cosmos, Powerglide, Seaspray and Warpath, in addition to they did with the Autobot giant (additionally made his debut this season) Omega Supreme, and they did with these two Autobots who both made their debuts this season - Blaster and Perceptor.

Last episode of Transformers who were alive at that time, long ago.
Growing up I never had opportunity to watch every episode of any cartoon series, my mum always wanted us out of the house. I watched as many episodes of Transformers as I could though.
I have watched every episode of series 1&2 in the last few weeks. Despite being [REDACTED] years old now I have managed to enjoy every single episode I have watched.. Except for this one. I know there is a theory that its the children lying to the teacher about not doing homework, but to be honest that comes off as an excuse for a very rushed and shoddy job done by the creators. We all know that the turnaround time from story draft to animation was extremely short and it is easy to imagine a tired writer on as the deadline looms knocking this out in the early hours of the morning with an attitude of "Oh that'll do .." we've all been there I am sure, so it should give us all heart. When you are "under the cosh" and the deadline is just around the corner, sometimes you have to just produce something, anything and thats al right because back in the eighties people had to do the same and they even got away with it!...Good work all round.
Every random electronics workshop has beakers and test tubes full of colorful liquids
I laughed so hard when Bruticus failed to assemble
The first of two times Swindle let his greed override his natural impulse not to cross his leader. The second time was in Ultimate Weapon when he was crazy enough to try goading Galvatron into paying him a reward for Metroplex's transforming cog by threatening to hold on to it and sell it back to the Autobots.
Which given how much more insane Galvatron is than Megatron (who *_put a bomb in his head_* here) speaks volumes about the sheer _depths_ of his greed.

I do have something that has a strong reference to the 'Transformers' episode called 'Auto Bop;' it's about the 1984 rated PG movie drama called 'Footloose.' About Kevin Bacon: he's somewhat differs from one of the 'Monkees' Davy Jones, in the underrated 1968 hit comedy movie called 'Head.' Notice they both also have a similarity, both wanted to move to the sing and dance; thus not play any kind of game with anyone? So anyways in the movie called 'Footloose;' this was when the actor John Perryman, played as fat cowboy. This drama movie was filmed, near Chicago Illinois in 1984. The hit comedy movie was filmed in Hollywood CA. These 2 movies, were filmed in both different times and places. Does the actor John Perryman remind you of, Popeye's arch nemesis Bluto/Brutus somewhat. He sure does to me of course! 🎬 🎞 🎥 🎦 📽 🎟 🎬 🤠 👢 🤠 🛺 🤣 😂 😄 😅 😀 🛺
