The evil Deceptitran has been making life miserable for an alien world and resistance efforts have been slow going. However, one female fighter's encounter with Seaspray may help tip the scales. Head over heels in love, Seaspray is all too happy to help her. Still, a bigger transformation than anything Transformers regularly do awaits him. Even then, is Seaspray up to the task of defeating Deceptitran?

This episode and "The Girl Who Loved Powerglide" are amongst my favorites. The logical inconsistencies and animation mistakes are a great part of the 80's G1 experience. I'm so glad that Hasbro is posting these...

I always like to think after the three part "The Rebirth" episode Seaspray retired to this planet where he and Alana lived together in various forms. Maybe they even taught everyone else how to use the pool to become Transformers.
Seaspray settled down with Alana, Tracks and Raoul became homies and started a space auto-shop, powerglide and Ariana got married and…

@@skeaneable The only actor from He-Man to voice recurring characters in this (Beachcomber sounds identical to Man-at-Arms, and, as you say - rhyme unintended - Seaspray sounds identical to Mer-Man) [Warpath is additionally voiced by Alan Oppenheimer, and sounds like Mer-Man, minus the ‘gargling’]. Coincidentally, all three are Mini-Autobots, who all make their debuts in (again, this rhyme unintended) season 2 (pre-movie).
It’s unfortunate that none of the ThunderCats actors voice characters in this (as I like associating Teela and Cheetara with the 1986 animated Transformers movie, especially imagining either of them saving Spike - now an adult, and the three Autobots behind him - Bumblebee, and Jazz & Cliffjumper, from getting dropped into Unicron’s acid vat - where Teela would have used her sword, to knock down the acid cover, or Cheetara would have - especially with her trademark speed, used her baton to knock down the acid cover) [Teela could be quite fast, much like Cheetara].
Wait a minute! "Sorry Optimus you are just too big." Is this the first time the relative sizes of transformers came into play? Certainly didn't stop Devastator forming inside Astrotain in the movie for example.

I like how this episode shows the Transformers are more than just Meer robots. Their sparks make them different from the droids!

Ridiculous nothing, this is up there with the Golden Lagoon as one of the most memorable episodes for the RIGHT REASONS, not because it was stupid or badly written.

Seaspray is the first transformers toy I owned. We didn't have much money, and the toys were expensive, he was the only one we could afford (1/20 of my mother's monthly salary).

You were raised by a great mother. Seaspray is also one of my favorites too. I hope he gets something like this in a Transformers movie someday.
We were poor too. Most of my Transformers were used, broken or incomplete. Only maybe once in a year could my mom buy me a brand new Transformer. I'm not sure anymore which ones I got first but, I do remember getting Beachcomber and Warpath as early as the 5th grade. I was so happy! I remember wanting Seaspray but, the store couldn't keep him in stock because he sold so well.
Always loved Alan Oppenheimer's Seaspray/Mer-Man voice.
He's also Warpath.
I like him better as Merman than Seaspray for some reason.
Especially She-Ra's voice actress Melendy Britt too.

I really dig the mesoamerican vibe with the city and people. My high school's mascots were the Aztecs and we learned in Geography how Mexico City was once Tenochitlan, a city floating on a lake. I like this episode for going that extra mile and not generic water planet #5.
This probably is the episode where Megatron gave the most praise to another Decepticon- twice to Laserbeak.
Laserbeak must be feeling on top here.
I mean Laserbeak, Ravage, etc. are probably the only ones who wouldn't betray him x3

He's a computer, nothing more. In orginal script, Megatron has reprogrammed him, because he won't allow them to use his energon cubes. So, Alana just returned the favor.
Seaspray got his mermaid transformer female . While Powerglide got a rich trust fund baby . And also a female Autobot.
