The Autobots have been busy marking crucial energy locations for easy use and protection purposes. Naturally, this is something that the Decepticons desperately want. This is a solo mission, and they need someone that gets in and out quickly. Meanwhile, word spreads about the new, powerful Nightbird being developed giving Megatron an idea. Under Decepticon control, Nightbird embarks on her mission into the Autobot base. Can the Autobots thwart the Decepticon plot and overcome Nightbird's martial arts techniques?

In fact, both the Autobots AND the Decepticons have that problem regarding Human technology which is understandable but the Autobots need to realize that we Humans only stopped being cavemen 10,000 years ago while they and the Decepticons were born as an advanced civilization and have been that way for millions of years.
Prime didn't even know what a ninja was at the beginning of the episode but by the end he's a freakin expert. 🤣

I've heard a lot of star wars sounds. Primarily the lightsaber turning on, clashing, waving, and tie fighter noises. On rare occasions I'll hear the star trek starship enterprise door opening/closing sound.

Starscream and the seekers often sound like tie fighters, and other blasters sound like star wars blasters sometimes. It gets me every time

Nightbird was definitely an underutilized character it would have been interesting if 'she' had made a reappearance or get somehow reformatted and be able to transform

I really can t see how Starscream could get away with what he has done in this episode. He really did cross the point of no return here
In a transformers fanfic written by Pro-Decepticon fan Raksha in the late 90's, Megatron and the Decepticons tracked down Starscream and then Megatron beat him within a inch of his life. Starscream only survived because he told Megatron that only he stunned her and then Soundwave confirmed it using his telepathy. Even then, it took Soundwave and Thundercracker taking him back to base so Soundwave could repair him to insure that Starscream survived.

@@ironmaster6496 Yeah, the fanfic portrayed the Decepticons as being more then just generic bad guys for the Autobots to fight but then again, Raksha was always big on that message in her fanfics and essays. She may have been far from perfect personality wise but she DID get me to re-think how I regarded the Decepticons.

I haven't watched the whole series yet, but this might be my favorite G1 Transformers episode. This is an episode I think the writers knew was ridiculous and just ran with it. It's just so ridiculous, yet the premise is played almost totally straight.

That’s because Starscream looks up to Megatron as a father figure. LOL! One of the original ideas for Megatron background story that he was going to be a female leader of the Decepticon who was Prime Girlfriend before she turn evil and StarScream was going to be her boyfriend. But the idea was rejected and some subplots were kept in the G1 series. So it would not be crazy to think that Megatron was into Guy Robots even tho it’s only implied in the series. He might be bisexual in Cybertron terms. LOL! 😂

Not in episode, but she did make a comic, with many sisters. When Daniel was grown up, him and Wheelie went down to Cybertron, outnumberd and looking at death in the face, the two set off a big bomb to wipe out the Nightbird's. This drove Arcee into madness.
When I was a kid, I never understood why they made Nightbird a one-off character, never to be seen or heard from again in the cartoon. I mean she had so much potential for future episodes.

@@Tracks2008 Thing about the Autobots is that they are Not Soldiers they are a Militia of Civilian Freedom Fighters. Optimus Prime was just a Warehouse Dock Worker. The Decepticons are the Soldiers. Personally I think the New Comics and Stuff fail Optimus when they don't make his Beginnings as Orion just a Blue Collar Guy. As an Archivist he becomes a Detached Intellectual, as an Cop he becomes apart of the System of Control. Blue Collar Optimus was a warm guy who gave a Shit and it showed.

@@Fenris30 Yeah, most of the Autobots had civilian jobs before the war. Optimus was a dock worker, Jazz was a musician most likely, Bumblebee was likely a courier, Ratchet was a doctor and so on.
In contrast, the Decepticons are all built for combat. Even those like the Constructicons and Soundwave who have great talents in things other then combat are made for warfare and enjoy combat.
Best line goes to Starscream. He calls the Autobots Autoboobs as he steals a fembot! Lol!

Sixshot will always be a S.T.A.G. (Solo Transformer Assault Group) to me. Headmasters turning him into a ninja just felt like a lame attempt to make him cool.

Everyone else gets shot and they are really hurt. Optimus gets shot in the butt and his plot armor is thickest there. 😂

When I first saw this episode, I thought that it would've been cool if the Autobots could've purged her Decepticon programming and made her an Autobot. I mean, the Decepticons had all of the good stealth stuff via Soundwave and his cassette underlings; Nightbird would've brought some balance. Her transformer form could've been a shuriken.

This episode is the most nostalgic for me. This was the only episode of the transformers, that I had left recorded on a VHS tape since 80`s.. Great episode!
This was an episode I also taped, I watched it so many times on VHS.
Definitely one of my favorites from the series. The battle scene is a great example of why this show was so much better than G I Joe. Every other line was a hokey joke in GI JOE, but Transformers could pull a semi-serious battle scene when they really wanted to, and this was one of the better ones imo.
in my story, Nightbird would be part of Sixshot's unit as his enforcer and bodyguard. and like a ninja , silent and deadly. maybe have a japanese actress voice her, the accent would add flavor.
I believe Nightbird would be part of the terrorcons in rise of the Beast now.

Trough out the series there is a reference to Star Trek (sliding doors - whoosh sound), Star Wars (lightsaber sound and Tie Fighter firing/flying) and Battlestar Galactica TOS (blaster sound). Transformers G1 are the Best Transformers series and film ever

Nightbird is Doctor Fujiyama's first man-made attempt to create an Artificial Intelligent humanoid robot prototype, he's also planned a second prototype called Windblade (the latter in which case is the first Transformers toy built by fans).
It's hard to believe that this episode was the first and last time we ever heard of the Ninja Robot NightBird as the last time we see her was at the end of the episode where we see her optics light up and she was never mentioned again in any future episodes.
Yeah shame. It would have been cool if she could have rejoined the Decepticons and be their first female member. Maybe she could have gotten a proper voice box later on. Could have had an interesting dynamic with Starscream. Probably would have made an appearance in the movie too which would have been pretty cool.

Nightbird would have been perfect in transformers age of extinction as a ksi drone with ksi being a company that builds man made robots. Nightbird in this episode is a man made robot. Hell that japanese woman in age of extinction could have been perfect as Dr fuchiyama's daughter.

Fujiyama is all like "shouganai" when Prime apologizes for letting the Decepticons slip through his butter fingers with Nightbird. That's even more Japanese than the bowing.
I've always liked how Wheeljack, the Autobots' top inventor, has a woikin' class Brooklyn accent.
