- Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (27 January 1756 - 5 December 1791) was one of the most influential, popular and prolific composers of the classical period. A child prodigy, from an early age he began composing over 600 works, including some of the most famous pieces of symphonic, chamber, operatic, and choral music.

Woah! These pieces are four real jewels, especially the first two. Too bad the weird instrumentation makes them rarely performed. :/
The basset horn parts could easily be adapted for clarinette or oboe.
@@brucealanwilson4121 I'm assuming most performances of this set substitute the Basset Horns for two Clarinets and a Bass Clarinet. Basset Horns are all but a relic at this point, outside of H.I.P performances.
@@gregoryborton6598 George Bernard Shaw used the pen-name Corino diBassetto when he wrote concert reviews during his journalist days.
Beautiful!
These Notturni were edited for the first time in 1803 and they were then given as works of Gottfried von Jacquin, a friend and pupil of Mozart. There are in all six Notturni. Mozart only listed one in the catalog of his works: "Piu non si trovano". Mozart's widow challenged Jacquin's authorship. In every case, these pieces are ravishing. "Se lontan ben mio, tu sei" reminds me of Renaissance madrigals.
Were they published in 1803
@@otakuxgirl6 I used "edited" in the sense of "published". Is it wrong ? (I'm not a native English speaker.)

These works are typically inspired by masonic instrumental sets (lokk for instance at some choruses in 'die Zauberflôte'. Writin for three voices and three clarinets/basset horns is quite difficult fo rom a technical point of view, and here the genius is given in addition to us. You can see a unique collection of bassethorn in the music instrument museum of Berlin, which is in the same building than the wonderful concert room of the Phiilharmoniker. If you go to Berlin, do not miss it. What is surprising in thse scores is the the instrumental bass is too low for a bassethorn (and is not written in the same key). Probably Mozart and the Vienneses masons had a low basset horn (in fact a bass clarinet). It can be replaced by a bassoon without great problem, since the tone cis produced mainly from the upper parts.
Escutar os norturnos de Mozart com 3 basset horns é uma dádiva sonora única. Essa peça me leva especialmente ao mundo mais próximo do compositor.
Thank you for sharing. So beautiful.I also suggest some songs,
