Changes from 2017 to 2020 for the base gsxr1000. Quick shifter is standard and revisions to the front disc for less fade. Dash is fine and does not need to be changed. When your using the bike it is so compact that it disappears from underneath you. Modes: C mode reduces torque and hp across all revs,B mode 100%torque and fueling tapers off right before the engines VVT is engaged, A mode 100% everything. Traction 10-5 wheelie control is engaged and 4-off: no wheelie control.

why would you anybody be upset about having so many levels of traction control? just means you can tailor it to your preference of intensity either all on all off or middle of the road or middle between 1 and 5 etc or for a somebody that loves to do track days they can turn it all off and go wild the user adjustability seems really cool so that you dont have to compromise on an bike and can set it to how you want to ride it and how much traction control you want.

      @hully88 3 года назад +10

@@Chris-ij8tb you're looking at it from purely just a number on price which i get at 14.7k. But if you compare it to its direct competitors its the "bargain bike". Its 2 grand cheaper than the average base price for Japanese superbikes. For me 2 grand into a full exhaust and tune is better than a fancy dash. To each his own though.

Personally that is the appeal of suzuki, second-hand they are so affordable compared to other brands and they work amazing, you just have to not be concerned with having all the latest and greatest tech that every company fights over

Wow. To be completely honest, after watching this I think my second bike will eventually be a gsxr 1000. I just got my Ninja 400 a month ago and I’m loving it. Got it brand new which was a slight mistake because I did crash it within the first 100 miles on the twisties. Only damage was the fairing being scratched up. But I have about 300 miles on now, riding it to work and back a few times a week and taking it out on the weekends. I’m really enjoying myself and I think I made the right choice going with a sport bike. I love going fast and leaning over. I have good clutch control but terrible throttle control, so I would absolutely appreciate C mode. I really like the sounds of this GSXR. That being said, I will 100% be keeping my Ninja 400 for at least a year, getting as much practice as I can before switching to a 1000cc death machine. Hoping to get about 5-10 thousand miles out of the Ninja 400 before selling and upgrading. It would actually have a similar riding position to the Ninja because I’m 6’4 so I legitimately have to lean over like I’m on a moderately comfortable supersport already. If I ever have the opportunity to try out a 2020 model or newer, I’ll for sure do it IN C MODE lol. But yeah this bike just sounds like a phenomenal machine.

It may have been said before, but that low RPM assist, while great for beginners, is also nice for everyone who rides in traffic. At the end of a long day, in stop and go traffic (assuming you don't filter or can't) it will save you from a zoned out moment and stall. I'm going to ride this one tomorrow at a demo event, could be a replacement for my SV-650 -- this or the new GSX-S-1000. As for the dash, Suzuki is the working man's bike, plus they make what they want (see 2020 Katana with K5 and a thimble-sized gas tank).

oc: i get what you're trying to get at but the rider inputs make the bike twitchy or smooth, sure there are bike that have smoother power deliveries or better setups when you hit the brakes, but in reality it all about you inputs to the controls..... think about it with all the electronic rider aid that are on bikes now days.... do the help good to great riders on the track, sure with out question. But those same aids also help bad riders. Heck I remember when all of the bikes didnt have that stuff and you better of been smooth with your inputs or you got into real trouble. And if you are smooth you are always faster, that is a proven fact on just about every racetrack ever.

The dash is absolutely good as is, it has all the info you need. Sure it's nice to have it colored but having it as is, is one less distraction while riding. Suzuki makes the second cheapest liter bike and if they put a tft on this good as is bike, it'll probably jack the price waay more up than necessary. Besides, nobody buys a gsxr or any bike for that matter to look at a tablet on the handle bars the whole time. If it has all the information you need in it then it's perfect as is. this is imo but tft is just another way for manufacturers to make the bike more expensive. Now if they use the money on something like a factory frame protection or engine case covers in swap for the money they gonna use for the tft i think i can get behind that.

But im just saying, even that few "hundreds" of dollars you talk about for the tft can be used one something more useful, like a factory frame sliders or engine case covers that comes pre-installed, or better forks, or brakes, or 6-axis IMU, or semi-active suspension, or even a cruise control which believe or not is not even a standard feauture on some litre bikes... LCD dash displays the same amount of information a TFT display does, all the TFT has over LCD is that it is colored...

oc: I think that, the smoother the throttle is, the safer you can ride it.. It's a 1000cc bike so it's gonna be fast either way :p Only reason i would imagine a fast responding throttle would be of good use is on a track, trying to beat your best lap.

I hear ya on the disappointing dash. It is basic AF. Yet at the same time, I like that Suzuki as a company is essentially trying to play the role of an older Honda Civic model. Basic AF. Cheap. Less fancy than everything. Lasts longer and works better than most things out there. I don't think they put the crappy dash unintentionally, I think they're REALLY about that basic shit. They might not have the garnishes all figured out, but Suzuki sure has the meat.

I closed the video after about 9 minutes of watching and can't resist myself to come back and comment. Suzuki EASY START is for "push button start" means you don't need to press and hold the start button until it fires up like you did, you just push it once and the engine will take care itself. The idle-up device you talked about is LOW RPM ASSIST. Plus I'm not a fan of tft dash and remember every feature costs money, GSX-R is probably the cheapest and most value for money 1000cc bike in out there and it's awesome especially the R model, so keep you narrow mind

BTW, the dash you get on the 1000R is blacked out and adjustable. the 1000 is the base bike... look at its price sir

Yes. Suzuki super sports are known to provide one the more comfortable sitting positions of this category.
Your only bike, because C mode really tames it a tremendous amount??!! Mmm.... interesting, nice!!!
The case, then, could be made that after some very thorough beginner bike experience that this bike might not be a crazy option to step up to.
Chase, YOU have pretty much made that case, which is saying a whole lot given your experience.
    In that case, BRAVO Suzuki!👍👍👍
    A terrific motorcycle.🎯

Not always. A lot of factory tunes close and open the secondary throttle plates on the gixxers differently than the throttle input. So, just because you throttle on or off to 50% throttle, doesn't mean you get 50% throttle from the actual ride by wire system. Moore mafia has a lot of videos dyno tuning and talking about smoothing out the ride by forcing the ecu to mimic the exact user throttle input

If i want a nice screen i’ll buy a phone. I like how Suzuki focuses on the bike itself.
BMW does the exact opposite. The dash is amazing, the handling and the engine are great but the chassis is cheep and crappie... 22.000€ compared to 17.000€
I don’t know American prices but 5k difference and only the dash is worse... i mean that’s a great deal in my opinion!

Currently fighting between the gsxr-1000r 22 /bmw -1000srr 22 I just hate the dash on the gsxr it definitely needs to be colored but the price points have me leaning more towards the gsxr I'd potentially be saving 7-8k$ wich could go to different mods & gear!!!!

I think the reason liter bikes ,have all these rider aids, is because they know, that target demographic is changing, alot more low experience and beginner riders are looking at 600 and 1000 cc motorcycles more than they are 250s to 400 cc,so they are making so a new rider can feel more safe while rider it

Whenever a veteran reviewer takes out a supersport bike there often is primal screams and other sounds of delight and pure bliss - seriously. No other type of bike seems to elicit such emotional responses - for what it’s worth.
