Hopefully around Christmas time I can get all the radish Dad games I didn’t know about the games until I watched a video thank you for the videos I like watching them a lot❤And I hope you and all your family members have a good Thanksgiving
I lost my wife earlier this year. She had a multitude of health problems and chose to medically end her suffering with the MAID program in Canada. She had been sick, disabled, and dying basically for a few years by this point already. We played Spiritfarer together when it released and I think even just that experience of playing that game together and discussing its themes and messaging and whatnot honestly really helped me start to prepare for what would be the inevitable end of our life together in this existence. All of those stories were heartbreaking but also really touching and brought about closure and healing. I really encourage anyone who has experienced loss or who will most likely experience loss like this in the near future to play the game. Beyond the heavy themes and whatnot it is honestly just a really good game too.
Yesterday I was having a little anxiety attack and I remembered that back in 2020 I used to binge watch all these videos whenever I had one because they calmed me down so yesterday I watched both best eshop videos so far. The fact that you post this one today is a gift for my mental health, it’s been quite the journey, thank you so much Wood.
I really enjoy this series a lot because you really go into detail explaining what the game is about and I think it's mostly because of that, I've been finding a lot of games that look really interesting that I might not have thought it would be just by first impressions or what they show you in the eshop. I definitely enjoy Stardew Valley, as you can guess by the profile picture. I finished a playthrough (or at least as much as I could) quite recently, and it's one of very few games I might go back to on that save and do a completionist run because I just enjoy the game so much. I have to admit that I'm not familiar with a lot of these games, so I don't have a lot to comment on them right now. I really do enjoy Ooblets, and I've been playing a lot of that recently. I also have quite a few games that I have to go back to and play since I do enjoy them, like Red Dead Redemption, Kirby and The Forgotton Land, and I recently got Metroid Prime Remastered because I watched part of your twitch stream on the game and I enjoyed that. I do wish I could go back and watch your playthrough of it, but I haven't been able to find it again, so I guess for now, it'll just live on in my memories. I also really like the art for the shirt, Kim did an amazing job on it! I hope you guys enjoy your Thanksgiving!
The fact that you are genuine and have such contagious enthusiasm and passion for games I don't always agree with your assessments but I've learned about and discovered soooooo many games I have atleast 30 games I've purchased all because I saw it here and still think Nintendo made a horrible mistake taking you out of the ambassador program but still been watching since somewhere around 2018

I managed to get CrossCode physical. A game of that length, isn't one to just casually play on a whim. The pixel graphics are perfect for Switch. The writing fantastic, just the right blend of fantasy and sci-fi. Engaging combat. Beautiful music. I'm not even a genre fan and it got me hook, line and sinker. Small dev team too, which just makes it even more of a work of art.
@@bbloomfield6497 Yeah, I grabbed it physically as well (lovely when the game launches physically the same time as it releases digitally!). It's funny how the best-written character in any video game in a long, long time is a mute girl in her particular circumstance that I won't spoil for innocent bystanders. A very demanding, but very rewarding game characterized by mechanical excellence and aesthetic brilliance.
I found so many games from these eshop videos. I played and LOVED Bug Fables. Kittaria Fables, Raji, Cult of the Lamb and Jenny Laclue. Recently I gave been playing Cat Quest 2, Sea of Stars, Little Goody Two Shoes and Wild Flowers.
I love how he’s saying that he doesn’t like how much he hates that he mentioned how depressed he was so many times yet he’s wearing an antisocial club hoodie
very solid list, my personal picks🥰: 10) Ori and the will of the wisps 9) Hades 8) The Messenger 7) Dead Cells 6) Bug Fables 5) Sea Of Stars 4) Stardew Valley 3) Crosscode 2) Celecte 1) Hollow Knight
FYI, Scott Pilgrim is on sale right now for less than $5. I just bought it today after watching the new show on Netflix (amazing btw) and you’re absolutely right about the difficulty spike. As someone who grew up playing TMNT on the arcade, this is a TOUGH beatemup.
I’m getting that tshirt. Omg this whole video had me …emotional? 😂 I landed on your channel in the early lockdown. It was your video about being let go of the partner program… and I was like “I like this guy.” Then I watched your eshop videos and I subbed bc I loved them, you opened me up to indies just as your remarked on in this video. And to come to your content and see how far you have gone and continue to go.. just so happy for you (and Kim!). Been subbed since 2020 and can’t wait to see your next adventure. Cheers!
My top 10!! 10: Children of Morta 9: Blasphemous 8: Ori and the Blind Forest 7: Overcooked 6: Dead Cells 5: Moonlighter 4: Enter the Gungeon 3: Stardew Valley 2: Hades 1: Slay the Spire (can you tell I like Roguelikes?)
I love this series and I love a lot of games on this list, including the honorable mentions. My favorite eshop game not mentioned is Gris. The story and the process of greif is beautiful. The gameplay, visuals, and audio/music are also 10 out of 10 for me.
Can’t remember which one, but your eshop videos is what got me to find your videos! Now I share them with my sister, who bought a switch just for indie games last year! Stay amazing Wood and I hope you and Kim have a great Thanksgiving!
The Messenger. One of the best games I have ever played. Perfect difficulty for me personally, wonderful graphics and an insane soundtrack, great humor and very good gameplay.
I get so happy whenever he mentions Eastward. Its one of if not my favorite game of all time and i'm glad to see that my favorite youtuber loves it as well.
Eastward is one of the best indie games I've ever played also and I got it at launch. I even bought at Eastward t-shirt that came with a sticker of John and Sam which I have on the side of my Switch lol
A great list - this feels like the end of an era though. Definitely need one of those shirts (amazing design, Kim!). Kinda hope you’ll keep this series going
@-Beat_Em_Ups Awesome!! Could we talk about how the game mechanically is kind of like Zelda: Wind Waker meets Stardew Valley? But with an awesome art style, like the fast travel is with that awesome seal guy and oh, the dragons. The characters and writing are really what make it amazing though. And I love how the learning curve escalates from your friend and a mentor type figure, to an estranged couple, an eccentric collector, and finally a deeply skeptical recluse. The characters themselves go beyond those descriptions and are really memorable. Btw that t shirt is indeed awesome.
Can’t figure out if I watched a best of the eshop video, a critique of old videos or an almost 30 minute commercial for a shirt? 🤔🤷🏾♂️ Ehh, maybe all three. Shirt looks cool and I enjoyed the video so it was time well spent
That 2018 video shows how much you have developed over the years, your speak is so much relaxed and easier to listen. That 2018 video is like putting these day videos x1.5 speed. Kudos 👏
I downloaded the Ori and the Blind Forest demo two days ago and absolutely loved it. Ordered the collection on Amazon instantly and got it yesterday. That's my holiday season made. I've only played that one and Cuphead. I'm not a heavy eShop user, so I'll look to get into games that have a physical version.
Hey… 🤷🏻♂️ If you’re not looking back at your past self and cringing even a little, you’re not growing enough. It was nice back then to have someone excited about the eshop. Don’t be so hard on yourself man, you clearly did something right! Great video. Thought I’d comment for the algo’.
10 of my fav not in any order. Cult of the lamb, Hades, Celeste, Eastward, Deaths Door, Wildfrost, Moonlighter, Hollow Knight, Enter the Gungeon, and Stardew Valley. There are other great Eshop games naturally but these are ones that I have played at least 5 hours or more of and would say that even if you get it and only play a few hours its worth it because I’m sure you will enjoy it!!! Celeste I finished and was surprised that I did bc I’m not a huge plat-former so thats one I’d say was the most surprising.
Now that you’ve reached 3” you should start doing best xbox game pass games. I would really love to see it and i hope other people would too. Congrats on the t shirt btw❤
Great video Wood. I used to “yell” when I spoke years ago too. People would tell me “dude you need to chill” 😂 I was like “I’m just expressing myself confidently” it’s fun to grow isn’t? 🥰
I can’t do a top ten but my top 1 is Yes, Your Grace. A massively underrated game and a must buy for anyone who likes point and clicks, story based games or game of thrones. It’s regularly on sale for only a few dollars/pounds. If you are reading this then just buy it, you won’t regret it.
The Switch is such a fantastic console with a diverse selection of games available in physical and online retail. Some of my favorite eshop indies include: Toem, Umurangi Generation, Steamworld Heist, Golf Story, Guacamelee 1 and 2, unpacking, A Short Hike, Chicory, Donut County, Florence, GRIS, Gato Roboto, Grapple Dog, Jenny LeClue Detectivu, Tangle Tower, Night in the Woods, Old Man's Journey, Murder by Numbers, Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion, and Wandersong. I have so many more I have yet to play and even with the Switch 2 on the Horizon, I'm looking forward to playing my current one for a long while.
Bought the shirt, amazing concept and aesthetic for that merch, and like always, great video Wood! Eastward would be my favorite and Im glad both John and Sam are on the design!!
A Short Hike really needs to be on this list. My favorite game here is probably Untitled Goose Game. Great list either way, there are so many good eshop games.
Great vid, espeically since it contained old Red faced Shouty Australian Wood. I still watch your old vids from back then binge watching them during work. You can feel your warmt and honest efferts from those vids.
Here's mine 1) Moving Out - favourite coop game of all time, I really recommend it 2) Undertale 3) Super Meat Boy 4) Death's Door (huge zelda fan) 5) Don't Starve Together 6) (surprisingly) Worms W.M.D - my main party game 7) Hotline Miami Collection 8) Crypt of the necrodancer 9) Enter The Gungeon 10) Islanders - kind of a hidden gem, but addictive Also I just bought Celeste and i hope it will be great. I'm looking forward to buying Moving Out 2. I rated the games by how I enjoyed them.
He did cover Death's Door, Worms, Hotline Miami, Crypt, Enter the Gungeon, And Islanders in past eshop videos. Islanders is in the video from March 2021. Also no one has ever regretted playing Celeste
my personal list: 10. Sky: children of light 9. Strange horticulture 8. A little to the left 7.worlds end club 6. Bayonetta series 5. Project diva 4.stardew valley 3.cult of the lamb 2.spirit farer 1.Catherine
1. moonlighter 2. spirit farer 3. stardew valley 4. cult of the lamb 5. grimoire groves 6. hades 7. ooblets 8. eastward (low because of ending) 9. potion party
Help! I bought Snowrunner 3 year pass during the Halloween eshop sale, and can't stop truckin' in the mud! I've discovered the joys of chill, slow play. Embracing my old-man ness.
Earlier today I was watching the other videos in this series to see what I should but on the sale and I decided on dredge and now this comes out later today lol
A little video idea: Wood's top 10 most played games (according to playtime). - across all platforms/just on Switch..? I think it would be interesting😊
Yeah taking a look at his number of hours on the switch account screen would be interesting... but actually a ton of work. Since it only keeps about 20 games in the list he would have to start up at least 100 games most likely to compare playtimes and determine the most played. I assume he would have some idea of which ones are in the ballpark though
For some reason, this episode flew by. I was so excited to watch it, and before you know, blam it's over lol. Looks like I just gotta marathon the whole eShop series!
Don't even need 10, you and Bob need to play Horace. You have the physical edition, it's often on sale for a few bucks, took me 15 hours, so tons of value. Jaw dropping story. Tons of passion put into it
I haven't finished yet but I love the game so far. It has a certain quality to it I haven't experienced in a game before, and makes me feel a way that's quite hard to describe. Maybe it's a combination of the voice acting, the storytelling and writing, it's all done so well and as you said feels like a lot of passion was put into it. Gameplay is a lot of fun too, great game.
My Top 10 eshop Games: 10.)Fast Rmx- I ❤ Futuristic Racers 9.)Portal:Companion Collection 8.)Islanders- Relaxing Strategy Island Builder 7.)Peace, Death! 6.)Fall Guys,-Favorite Free eShop Game 5.) Gato Roboto-A Metroid like game with a cat in a mech suit, So it’s a Meow-Troid!! 4.) Reigns:Kings and Queens an RPG with controls that are basically Swipe Left or Right. 3.) Demon’s Tilt-Favorite Pinball Game on Switch 2.)Centipede:Recharged- Atari reboot of one of my Favorite shooter arcade games!! 1.) Lumines Remastered- My favorite Puzzle Game from PSP now is on Switch,BEST IDEA EVER!!
My absolute favourite is Beacon Pines. I absolute adore this game and it had such a big impact on me. I never played a game like that again. The story was SO good and it also looks so good. I still think about that game way too much.
With the elements of buying stuff in stores to enhance your stats, and picking stuff and people up to use as weapons, Scott Pilgrim seems like a modern River City Ransom, one of my all time favourite games. Now that I've seen this video I'm thinking about getting it.
I can’t really decide an order but I think Katana Zero In Stars and Time Sanabi Inscription Cross Code Hollow knight Celeste Eastward Monster sanctuary Stardew Valley are definitely up there (and there are probably a lost more gems I forgot or haven’t played yet) Edit: I also got to add Sea of stars I was also hooked on that one
Wood, I’ll support whatever you choose to do, but I really hope you continue to the podcast! I will continue to listen, because I’m interested in all you have to say gaming related! And there’s so much more to talk about than what can be fit into a video! You can still have guests from time to time but you would do great job solo!!!
For me Into the Breach is my favourite Switch game ever. It got me hooked on turn based strategy games. Since then I played Pokemon Fire Red, South Park The Stick of Truth on my Switch and Monster Hunter Stories 1 on my 3DS! 😊
I was hoping Inscryption would be on the list, and when it was the first one mentioned I was like "YES SO GOOD!". I've purchased that game twice just to have it on multiple formats, its so good and I feel like not enough people talk about it!
I'd put The Messenger on that list. I've owned it for years but only just finished it earlier this year, it's one of my favourite games of the last decade
Great video as always Wood. The shirt looks amazing and my brother & I just got our BeatEmUps Funko figures in the mail and they look amazing. Congrats Wood👏👏👏👏👏 My 10 Favorite eShop Games: ------------------------------------------------ Sea of Stars Hades The Messenger Cyber Shadow Scott Pilgrim Panzer Paladin Cuphead Persona 4 Gold (LRGs releasing Physical) Ori 1 & 2 TMNT: Cowabunga Collection & Shredder's Revenge Honorable Mentions: Stardew Valley, Eastward, Streets of Rage 4, WrestleQuest, Enter The Gungeon, Goose Game, Little Dragon Cafe.

I love that Eastward got love! It’s been one of my favs
Love this video. Especially watching the journey your hair style makes! Oh .. and yes, Eastwood and Stardew Valley !!!
@-Beat_Em_Ups REALLY?! What is telegram?
He did cover a short hike in his October 2020 video
Untitled goose game is just the most wholesomely demonic game i have ever played 🎉
Great vid, espeically since it contained old Red faced Shouty Australian Wood. I still watch your old vids from back then binge watching them during work. You can feel your warmt and honest efferts from those vids.
I can’t really tell the difference in your voice levels from then and now. Not that’s a bad thing. I like your passion.
Another great video, keep up the good work!
awwh such a nostalgic series. Can't wait to have the next Switch and embark on another top ten series adventures with Beatemups.
Woods been posting so much lately and I love it!👍
Here's mine
1) Moving Out - favourite coop game of all time, I really recommend it
2) Undertale
3) Super Meat Boy
4) Death's Door (huge zelda fan)
5) Don't Starve Together
6) (surprisingly) Worms W.M.D - my main party game
7) Hotline Miami Collection

9) Enter The Gungeon
10) Islanders - kind of a hidden gem, but addictive
Also I just bought Celeste and i hope it will be great.
Using this video to build up my wishlist for the Steam sale to play on my new OLED Deck!

I love you back then I'm sure I have been subbed since 2018. I liked the smaller channel feel of back then. I'll still be here tho
Help! I bought Snowrunner 3 year pass during the Halloween eshop sale, and can't stop truckin' in the mud! I've discovered the joys of chill, slow play.
Embracing my old-man ness.
Another great video. Great shirt kim
I’m buying a Switch in a few weeks. Your videos have been extremely informative.
Merch design is very cool!
Thank you!
The screaming beatemups era... trauma 😅. We've come a long way. Been here since 2016 🤘
Earlier today I was watching the other videos in this series to see what I should but on the sale and I decided on dredge and now this comes out later today lol
9:48 because you loved what you did and were excited to talk about it.
The yelling isn’t as bad as you think 🤣 you’ve always had good content
A little video idea: Wood's top 10 most played games (according to playtime). - across all platforms/just on Switch..?
I think it would be interesting😊
Yeah taking a look at his number of hours on the switch account screen would be interesting... but actually a ton of work. Since it only keeps about 20 games in the list he would have to start up at least 100 games most likely to compare playtimes and determine the most played. I assume he would have some idea of which ones are in the ballpark though
thank you so much for the constant uploads recently!
For some reason, this episode flew by. I was so excited to watch it, and before you know, blam it's over lol. Looks like I just gotta marathon the whole eShop series!
It’s been a ride happy to be here with you🎉
Don't even need 10, you and Bob need to play Horace.
My Top 10 eshop Games:
10.)Fast Rmx- I ❤ Futuristic Racers
9.)Portal:Companion Collection
8.)Islanders- Relaxing Strategy Island Builder
7.)Peace, Death!
6.)Fall Guys,-Favorite Free eShop Game
5.) Gato Roboto-A Metroid like game with a cat in a mech suit, So it’s a Meow-Troid!!
4.) Reigns:Kings and Queens an RPG with controls that are basically Swipe Left or Right.
3.) Demon’s Tilt-Favorite Pinball Game on Switch
2.)Centipede:Recharged- Atari reboot of one of my Favorite shooter arcade games!!
1.) Lumines Remastered- My favorite Puzzle Game from PSP now is on Switch,BEST IDEA EVER!!
He has covered your number 10, 9, 8, 6, and 1 in past videos
My absolute favourite is Beacon Pines. I absolute adore this game and it had such a big impact on me. I never played a game like that again. The story was SO good and it also looks so good. I still think about that game way too much.
With the elements of buying stuff in stores to enhance your stats, and picking stuff and people up to use as weapons, Scott Pilgrim seems like a modern River City Ransom, one of my all time favourite games. Now that I've seen this video I'm thinking about getting it.
I can’t really decide an order but I think
Katana Zero
In Stars and Time
Sanabi
Inscription
Cross Code
Hollow knight
Celeste
Eastward
Monster sanctuary
Stardew Valley
are definitely up there (and there are probably a lost more gems I forgot or haven’t played yet)
Edit: I also got to add Sea of stars I was also hooked on that one
Eastward is def one of my favs! Sans I might be my GOTY of this year, maybe..I love it! Great list!!
@@reziture thx you :)
That's love dude with the dates on the t-shirt, you better put a ring on Kim's finger 😅
Love your vids
Wood, I’ll support whatever you choose to do, but I really hope you continue to the podcast! I will continue to listen, because I’m interested in all you have to say gaming related! And there’s so much more to talk about than what can be fit into a video! You can still have guests from time to time but you would do great job solo!!!
Just started playing stardew myself and I completely understand it's so amazing
For me Into the Breach is my favourite Switch game ever.
It got me hooked on turn based strategy games. Since then I played Pokemon Fire Red, South Park The Stick of Truth on my Switch and Monster Hunter Stories 1 on my 3DS! 😊
He did cover into the breach in his February 2019 video
I was hoping Inscryption would be on the list, and when it was the first one mentioned I was like "YES SO GOOD!". I've purchased that game twice just to have it on multiple formats, its so good and I feel like not enough people talk about it!
I'd put The Messenger on that list. I've owned it for years but only just finished it earlier this year, it's one of my favourite games of the last decade
The Messenger did make his top 10 list from December 2018
Just bought one. Thank you for all your hard work and great videos!!!
Boomerang fu is the most underrated however it gets boring after a while i wish it had online play or pvp mode smt like that
Great video as always Wood. The shirt looks amazing and my brother & I just got our BeatEmUps Funko figures in the mail and they look amazing. Congrats Wood👏👏👏👏👏

Oh my his hair was hairing in the beatem ups game review. GORG.
The old scream-y clips toned down like that sound like a news caster stuck in a wind storm it's kinda charming haha
