LEICA, why it makes sense to pay more for less

Leica is more popular than ever. Everywhere you look, your favourite photographer is switching to Leica or have a Q around their neck. Why is this trend happening and why do I think it makes sense.
Caveat, I have purchased every Leica lens and camera second hand, as they can be found for a reasonable value. For example, I purchased the SL2-S that filmed this episode for $2500, which to me is well worth the money. Buying these cameras brand new at MSRP is a lot, but if you have the funds, getting a camera brand new is an experience.
