    60d! I had 70d I think - RIP 2020 for wedding photographers as a season lol - this is pretty encouraging for the SL system, definitely have considered it for awhile.

      I've owned an M10 and M10-P, which are also 24mp, and they're incredible, but the SL2-S files are just that much nicer. I sold the M10-P to get another SL2-S.

      Fully true. IMO the only reason now to switch to a 3-S is simply a preference on packaging and form factor, because the images should be nearly identical.

    Great video. Ignore the haters. I have never owned anything SL, thinking about getting one for events. So your video is perfectly timely for me. My main camera is canon r5, but I want a camera and photos that is a little different. Long time M and Q shooter.

      @hellobrandonscott  8 дней назад +1

      Definitely worth trying out! My associate/second photographer uses an R5, so I edit R5 files a fair bit and while it might not be a tremendous difference in IQ to the average person, to me it's strikingly noticeable. I can always tell a 2-S file when mixed into the pile with the R5.

    Dude, 24mp?!! Been shooting at least 42mp for over a decade, & 100mp for a few years. I have the incredible M11M, & despite problems, Love It!!! Now I could use a color body for the M lenses I have. Saw this deal, thought about it, ended up buying it. At first, I thought I would probably return it, and get an SL3. But the more I use it, I’m extremely impressed. Absolutely gonna keep it. It’s an amazing camera that delivers strangely unique files that are really beautiful. Simply not commensurate with other cameras because the sensor is very different. The fact that the SL3S will also be 24MP, makes this a very unique and incredible value proposition. And this camera has a position with my other larger MP cameras, but has become my favorite for wedding work. And since I have the M11 Monochrom, it’s awkward how amazing the BW file conversions are. Not really comparable to the monochrom, but very different from regular sensor cameras. It’s really interesting how this camera has an incredible unique value proposition. And I’m so happy with it, I’m even considering another, or simply an SL2 as a companion for a pro kit, that is strictly Leica. Otherwise, right now I use a couple of Sony‘s as work horses, and 2 Fuji GFX. Keeping it Leica and using small M lenses means my entire kit would be so much smaller.

      Congrats! That's awesome. Yeah I've had so many different Leica models over the years but the one that remains is the SL2-S. It'll have to be a pretty incredible camera that dethrones that one for me someday.

    Thank you for a very interesting video. I love my SL-2s and even now that the SL-3s has been announced, I see no compelling reason to upgrade. The two most relevant features for me are the phase detect AF and the tilting screen, both of which I can live without. I have never had a problem with the autofocus using the SL-2s for studio portraiture, event and landscape photography. I have found the eye detection to be excellent (almost infallible), and the in-body stabilisation to be amazing. For subject AF (animals, birds, trains, whatever), and fast-moving stuff (like my hyper-active sprocker spaniel) I have other cameras for that. The build quality of the Leica is top notch, the ergonomics are superb, and the interface and menu system is a joy to use. I shall not be selling my SL-2s any time soon, though I may eventually get an SL3 to go with it.

    Agree. Great camera and surely worth it even in 2025.
    Only issue I faced is the extremely tight connection of the SL/M adapter (Leica made adapter and not aftermarket). Other than that the SL is a fantastic tool for making images.

    Just picked up an SL2-S/35f2 kit at my local camera shop for under $4k. I can use it for 3 years and it’ll probably depreciate less than $1k. Now that the SL3-S was announced, I think you’re going to see used prices of the SL2-S go UP because very little has changed with respect to image output. Oh, and B&H is now sold out of all new SL2-S’s.
    What SD card would you recommend? Is the card you showed a V60 or V90?

    • @hellobrandonscott
      @hellobrandonscott  18 дней назад

      Congrats! That's such a great move. The card I had in the video is just a V60 and it is more than adequate for the 2-S. I auditioned a V90 before buying a full dozen, and the V90 didn't make enough of a difference to justify the 2x+ price difference. I've been using these (amzn.to/3WnGX5N) since the summer and they've been such an improvement.

    • @hellobrandonscott
      @hellobrandonscott  17 дней назад

      Great question, I might actually make a dedicated video about this, but basically yes, they've been bulletproof EXCEPT, one of them is with Leica right now because of the infamous shutter lock up issue. They replaced the shutter assembly and coincidentally emailed me today to tell me it's done! Totally out of warranty cost was $360. This body BY FAR was the most used though, it must have something like half a million shutter actuations on it, so the fact that it lasted this long at all was pretty remarkable.

    These kind of videos/titles need to stop. Why would a camera become bad just because of it's age?

    • @hellobrandonscott
      @hellobrandonscott  18 дней назад +11

      For so many reasons. The Leica M8/M9, for example, have sensor corrosion issues the older they get. Old M6s have issues with circuit boards dying and the light meter going out as a result. My wife has an OG Canon Rebel, and it's not easy finding SD cards anymore that work with that camera because it can't accept newer cards. Point being, as the tide of tech and time continues to move forward, a lot of cameras get left behind either because of physical failures, or tech becoming unsupported as years click by.

    • @raksh9
      @raksh9 15 дней назад +5

      The camera itself doesn't become bad, necessarily, but the question is whether the camera is good value/utility compared with current offerings. The SL2S is still very competitive in terms of image quality, video quality, and features.

Sometimes the changes might not be that important for some people and they can get a deal. Finding out what people who use them think is useful. Certainly is for me. 👍🏻
