I just started binge watching this today and it's beyond fantastic. It's like a combination of the original Magnum pi and MacGyver. The casting is PERFECT, it's not predictable, some smart-ass humor etc It really is that good.
Best show in decades. Fantastic writing describing incredibly good [characters] people. Madeline IS the best character, and she is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS, a timeless beauty. BN is visually stunning - plus lots of pretty girls - ALLways interesting [villains die in very satisfying ways]. Thanks for the review.
Burn Notice was a special show during the time it came out in. This was before HBO, Netflix, and Amazon started to produce big budget cinematic tv shows like we're used to now. This was during the beginning of the end for cable's rule over the industry, a time when shows didn't have big budgets and were forced to rely on a formula. But Burn Notice stood out due to its smart writing, directing, acting, and use of grounded realism. The character of Michael Westen should have been a bland, boring character when you stop to consider him from the start of the show, but due to good writing and Jeffrey Donovan's performance, the character ended up being interesting, especially in the challenges he had to face and how he solved them. Thankfully, we had Fiona, Sam, and Madeline to make things more interesting, plus a mystery that held our interest. But I think a lot of Burn Notice's success is due to how different the people behind the scenes tried to make the show. In fact, setting it in Miami seems like an expensive thing to do, but they managed to pull it off. Although they had a formula in place, they still changed it up in what kind of mission/case Michael and the gang were going on. For a small budget show, they did a good job hiding it.
Maddie will always have the best final scene in any show ive ever watched. Her development over the series was some of the best writing of the time, for sure.
Thank you for this. This was and is still my favorite show. The emotions michael/jefferey displays is just astonishing. Dont even get my started on chuck finley! Awesome content and keep up the good work!
What I loved about the show (besides its cast, which was solid and melded well) was how it drew inspiration from earlier action series. There was the MTV-pop look and sound of Miami Vice, the innovation of McGyver, a running "gag" like The Fugitive (replacing the one-armed man with the action of Michael's "burn"), the staging of stings like Mission Impossible, and the realism of The Rockford Files. Also, it had one of the best closures of a series. . .all around great.
I wish more people talked about Burn Notice, it's also my favorite show, seen it through many times. The character dive into Michael is unmatched, I ADORE his demon/angel inner battle. Sam and Jesse are incredible and I love that not only does Fiona use her skills as a warrior, but the show isn't afraid to also let her character use her female charms realistically as well, instead of simply going down the, as you said, "girl boss" route.
This is the only person on RUclips I can find reacting to Burn Notice. Make his reaction blow up, maybe more people will react to it. ruclips.net/p/PLhZI5ql-TxcmDayyevH01T-BCdScsVbZI&si=UpD1E1WP8Skvni7d
Watched this on USA alongside Psych, Monk, and White Collar but Burn Notice hooked me the most. So much so I bought the full series on DVD and have binged it from start to finish too many times to count. That much of an amazing series. I also love Michael's narration of what he does and the fact Michael can be basically anyone from anywhere and nail any and every possible cover he needs. From a blue collar worker to a suave carjacking gangster he can do it all.
i love this show to 100% one of my favourite series, its on Disney plus now and i love that iv been using it to re watch it and hopefully knew people will find it and it has a revival i honestly think the show is good enough to
This remains my favorite show even today. It was peak entertainment in terms of drama and interest as well as being believable with it's creative situations and the solutions that are given as a result. The display of social engineering from Michael Weston makes me scared to think of real spies that he represents. I understand that it's dramatized but it's still based on some element of truth and I believe that it's entirely possible. Love this show, it's characters, the storytelling... if i had to choose only 1 show to watch for the rest of my life, it would be this one. Hands down.
This is one of my all-time favorite shows. I also can't agree more about Sharon Glass. I audibly gasped when Michael had to act like his father to sell Madeline's cover to their prisoner. Just seeing them both having to actively dig up their past trauma was so moving.
as time has passed since.. still prob the best show out there.. no matter what other movie / show he is in - one still expects the high level dose of 'michael weston'.. and so far - none have even come close to showcasing it.. truly a very diverse talented actor - and believable .. that part is lacking across tv and movies today..
Burn Notice is one of the most underrated shows out there. It is cleverly written, and its characters were played by competent actors. In a way, it is a nod to both McGyver (the original one that has Richard Dean Anderson on it) and other classics of the spy genre. I agree that this has one of the most satisfying endings of any TV series. (If you notice Michael Westen's narration sprinkled throughout the series, the reason for this will make sense in the ending.) This shows how much the creative team cares for the story and the franchise, which is a level of care that puts a lot of more famous franchises, such as the MCU, to shame. One thing I noticed in this video is that Jesse Porter was not mentioned at all, despite being part of the cast starting either season 3 or 4. Even today, I don't see a lot of people who know this show, much less tell me that they are fans of the show. However, this does not mean that this show is not good. If you haven't watched it, then watch it. Thank me later.
@@floycewhite6991, I am pretty sure that adding characters to improve the ratings have been done in other shows. I am unsure though if that is the case for Burn Notice. Jesse was added somewhere in Season 3 or 4. If what you say is true, then it did work because they made it to season 7.
I SHARE THE LOVE FOR THIS SHOW! Thank you for this video .I'll share this with anyone I want to get hooked on Burn Notice. Would love to see a Spin-off or another season on Burn Notice!
This is the only person on RUclips I can find reacting to Burn Notice. Make his reaction blow up, maybe more people will react to it. ruclips.net/p/PLhZI5ql-TxcmDayyevH01T-BCdScsVbZI&si=UpD1E1WP8Skvni7d
This show was the best show on TV during its run. I think it was the split seasons why it didn't get the recognition in the greater general public it deserved. What draws you in is how personal the show gets as it goes on. You feel the drama, the comedy, the tension and all of the other emotions you feel because the cast and writers were able to sell the story so well with great chemistry and storytelling.
One of my favorite Sam moments is from the season 2 episode "Bad Breaks," where MIchael and Agent Bly are trapped in a bank heist. Won't spoil it, but Sam provides an epic (and menacing) assist, and the bad guys never even see his face.
2:17 another show with a similar vibe is Person of Interest created by Jonathan Nolan (it also has case-of-the-week episodes at the beginning but later evolves into sci-fi drama) Thank you for your review! I should give this show another try.
Excellent video. I just watched Burn Notice for the first time over the summer, and your recap is so good, it makes me want to go back and rewatch the entire series all over again. Also, fans of Burn Notice should check out creator Matt Nix's short-lived Fox series 'The Good Guys'. The Good Guys doesn't have the same depth as Burn Notice, but the show is hilarious, and the writing is pretty clever for a police procedural.
This is probably the only show i could say every episode was good. It may not be my absolute favorite.. but its definitely up there. The only complaint i can think of is that some of the editing of the early episodes was really wierd. Like jarring scene transitions and some fuzziness in the picture quality.
i have watched the show 24 times. i was an extremely unhappy teenager, and the show gave me something to grip onto. every person ive managed to get to watch it has ended up with brainworms.
i just finished the video AMZING work that footage you got of the stunt guys doing there demonstration was great i loved that a lot and im surprised iv never seen it, i look for burn notice reviews every couple of weeks to see if anyone has talked about it and nobody aprt from 1 other person to you ever does so i was always thinking of making my own but im glad i didnt cause this video is the perfect burn notice video i couldn't of done it better even a little. if you keep making videos you'll take off 100%
good video, great intro for people who have not seen it. i cant speak highly enough of this show, it was frustrating back in the day when we had to wait a week to find out what happens in burn notice lol, people dont know lucky they are now. does it have flaws and plotholes? yes, every show does though would be my response. its a very enjoyable 7 seasons and movie IMO.
USA Network disappeared from my cable plan -- and the increase to the next plan was no good for my roomies. I'd sometimes catch BN at a hotel. TBH I prefer the client of the week over the dark abyss of the last two seasons. Show ended because they couldn't film in Miami anymore. The building used for Mike's warehouse loft doesn't even exist anymore. That's how long ago we're talking about. (Hey! At least I didn't compare it to The Rockford Files.)
Yeah, well, puberty decided I should still sound like an adolescent boy in my late 20s, but I figured that was preferable than stacking some obnoxious vocal effect or fake video essays droll. Still, I'm glad you found the video enjoyable on some level.
Ive watched the whole series multiple times. I can tell you every episode of every episode. Absolutely love this show and im glad you love it too. Thanks for this awesome summary to let others know its worth watching. ❤✌😎✌❤ Edit: personally i much more enjoy seasons 1, 2, and 3. Parts of 4. After that, it gets really deep. I still love it all regardless.
Burn Notice is 1 of my favorite tv shows of all time. Its actually the first tv show i ever bought all seasons and the movie on dvd. Back than when watching live when it debut on USA i was addicted to it. I could talk for hours about why I Love Burn Notice. 1 of the biggest reasons for me i will say is Bruce Campbell. I was so happy to see him land a large role again in something. For so long hes only been known for the evil dead franchise and outside of that hes had many small roles/cameos in other films and shows. Than Burn Notice made him a series regualr main character and this show shows how great of a actor Bruce is when given a chance. Sam Axe to be honest i like more than Ash Williams. He plays such a great character on Burn Notice. Burn Notice is also the only show i have ever seen where i enjoyed every season and episode. Most shows i have seen will have great seasons and some bad seasons or forgettable boring bad episodes ect. But Burn Notice i cant think of 1 episode i disliked. Sure some epiosdes i find better and same with seasons but no seasons or epiosdes i found bad. To be honest Burn Notice probably is my favorite tv show of all time.
I was wondering if you have ever watched Leverage? Its a great slightly more procedural that was on TNT at a similar time as Burn Notice and I believe that in the procedural aspect it was about as good as BN with a cast of characters that kept things fun and fresh throughout.
I have some questions about your opinion on Burn Notice. Dont know if you will reply to them or make a future video anwsering them. But here they are 1. How would you rank the seasons of Burn Notice? 2. What would you say are your top 10 to 20 favorite episodes? 3. Who are your top 10 favorite villians on Burn Notice? 4. Who are your top 10 favorite characters from the Hero/allys side? Meaning not just the 5 main characters like micheal, fiona, sam, Madeline, Jesse. But you can include some of there other allys like nate, sugar, barry, virgil, ect.
Let's see... My season ranking would be 5, 4, 7, 2, 3, 6, 1. I love pretty much every season finale, including the mid-point climax where Michael faces a new challenge that throws everything off balance, and I especially love the episodes where he's grappling with Anson. My all-time favorites would probably be the Season 5 and 7 finales. Favorite villains: Anson, Vaughn, Carla, Simon, Kendrick, Tom Card, Olivia Riley, Larry, the bank robber played by Mark Sheppard, and the extremist military compound leader played by W. Earl Brown. Favorite characters: Madeline, Mike, Fiona, Sam, Jessie, Nate, Agent Pearce, Barry, Jason Bly, and Sugar.
Dang bro how can you forget to mention Coby Bell character Jesse Porter who got burned by Michael but later joined their team in season 3 or 4.... I think the other great phenomenal espionage spy Thriller is Homeland that aired on Showtime. The one thing I like about Burn Notice is that the series always have well-known A-List actors or up-and-coming actors that you now see in popular Blockbuster films and award-winning TV series guest star on many episodes.
Thanks so much, i adore BURN NOTICE and never thought it got enough credit. This is really a fantastic video. I feel similarly about THE SHIELD, if you happen to have a similar interest in cop shows. Completely overplayed topic, i know, but this one is so shockingly different. The cops are completely corrupt, for one, and VIC MACKEY, the corruptest of the i think any cop ever, just fucking fun. And the last season is legendary, but no fair peeking, you have to earn it.COPAGANDA did an episode about it and says it better than i ever could. I'll stop trying to sell you on a show you may well have already seen. I'm also assuming you've already seen MR ROBOT, since you seem to have GPS enough taste to love BURN NOTICE and PSYCH as much as i do. On the tiny chance you haven't, you owe it to yourself to watch the 4 seasons as don as possible. I'll try to sip talking about tv now probably stay up too late watching some.
I love Burn Notice, but I am not a fan of the season finals. For one, the finals are repetitive: - Seasons 1 and 3 end with Michael taken by the mysterious organisation and we find out the destination in the next season. - Seasons 6 and 7 end with team Westen on the run from the government. Also, I could not understand the end of season 7: - The CIA wants Michael to capture James. - James want to be captured by the CIA so his organisation can continues under Sonia and Michael. - Team Westen wants James to be captured. - Yet Michael is unable to say to his friend that he will capture James. I feel it would have taken an 8th season during which Michael would be a double agent.
what i LOVE about fiona is shes a badass but shes still feminine, nowadays when they want to make a strong female character they just turn them into a dull man (Charlies angels reboot and even the tomb raider reboot as an example) and its just so boring it makes the character feel insecure in who they are and they just come across as a try hard sorry iv put a couple of comments i just love this series haha
I have binged this show more times then I can count and on my recent bing the seasons I didn't enjoy as much (being season 6 & 7) actually had the more emotional parts oh the whole thing my biggest gripe was the final episode someone turned back too quickly but other then that I could watching this show over and over while never getting tired ❤
Last night, for the 2nd time in 20 years we just finished watching what I believe is the very best Spy TV series of all time: BURN NOTICE. It ran 7 seasons and had amazing story/writing, and especially great cast. If you are looking for a great action packed show...

Thinking back on it, I wish I did. I love his character, but I wanted to avoid as many spoilers as I could for people who didn't know anything about Burn Notice. I'm thinking of doing a Top 10 Favorite Burn Notice Episodes video, and if I do, I'll definitely talk about him there.
I'm surprised the character's cover identities even if it's minor like pretending to be an IT guy to access a building, rarely use fake mustaches, wigs, changing their hair color or body features.

"Saul Goodman from Breaking Bad" Vince Gilligan did not create the masterpiece that is Better Call Saul for you to disrespect him and Bob Odenkirk like thai
Back in high school I had a friend who you couldn't PAY to watch a full TV series. I showed him Burn Notice and he watched the entire show in a month.
Any of my friends can't even finish a pilot episode.
I wonder how they waste their time on youtube brainrot entertainment.
If I were stuck on a desert island, this might be my #1 pick for TV series to bring with me.
I have never binge watched a series so often as Burn Notice.
I believe the reason Burn Notice did not get the attention it deserved is despite the excellent writing and well done practical stunts and effects, it did not provide the escapism the general public wants. Being a spy may look cool, but when people see how hard it is to even get to that position and the mental and physical fortitude it takes to just stay in that position, not to mention all the sacrifices it would turn off many people.
I just started binge watching this today and it's beyond fantastic.
It's like a combination of the original Magnum pi and MacGyver.
The casting is PERFECT, it's not predictable, some smart-ass humor etc
It really is that good.
I've watched it over 20 times. It's a bit predictable. Just not obviously predictable
I personally enjoyed this show very much... thank you for your good work
Best show in decades. Fantastic writing describing incredibly good [characters] people. Madeline IS the best character, and she is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS, a timeless beauty. “This one’s for my boys.” 🥺
I actually wasn’t a huge fan of the final season, and while I appreciate the sacrifice they had her make, I didn’t love how they ended her story.

Anything with Bruce Campbell is gold.

Jessie's a great character, but I wanted to focus on the main characters introduced in the pilot so as to not spoil too much about what comes next.
Many critiques out there about adding a cool new character to liven up a dying series.

Burn Notice, Battlestar Galactica, and the second season of Lucifer are 3 of my 10 favorite television series.
Awesome series. A-Team meets James Bond, with pedigree actors and tons of fun stories from start to finish.

Favorite villains: Anson, Vaughn, Carla, Simon, Kendrick, Tom Card, Olivia Riley, Larry, the bank robber played by Mark Sheppard, and the extremist military compound leader played by W. Earl Brown.
Favorite characters: Madeline, Mike, Fiona, Sam, Jessie, Nate, Agent Pearce, Barry, Jason Bly, and Sugar.
Hollywood Is the one thing , the real life.. you get , what you get.. The most important, you enjoy..🇱🇹🇺🇸👋
Disfruté ver esta serie, tanto por su simpleza, intuición y acción , como por sus personajes, super
USA had some GEMS… Monk, Psych and Burn Notice are my all time favs
Actually, you do see Fiona take out giant muscle-bound dudes lol
Several times, and it's never not funny 😂
Burn Notice is my favorite show but I’ve never seen the final season. I don’t want it to be over.
You need to. It's SO GOOD
@@HandsomeLongshanks but what if something bad happens?!?
@@InvisibleInqueit will, but it's still great and worth it!
This show might have THEE most satisfying ending of any series ever. Well, besides the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
Justified and Black Sails are both series that ended at the right time and wrapped themselves up in a great way also
Good video overall, but BAD call not including Jesse in the list of characters. He may not have been there from the beginning, but he was important.
I love Burn Notice, but I am not a fan of the season finals. For one, the finals are repetitive:
- Seasons 1 and 3 end with Michael taken by the mysterious organisation and we find out the destination in the next season.
- Seasons 6 and 7 end with team Westen on the run from the government.
Also, I could not understand the end of season 7:
- The CIA wants Michael to capture James.
- James want to be captured by the CIA so his organisation can continues under Sonia and Michael.
- Team Westen wants James to be captured.
- Yet Michael is unable to say to his friend that he will capture James.
I feel it would have taken an 8th season during which Michael would be a double agent.
34:25 "and when would I have learned how to do that" That line, man. It still hits hard.
This is my favorite show OF ALL TIME!
what i LOVE about fiona is shes a badass but shes still feminine, nowadays when they want to make a strong female character they just turn them into a dull man (Charlies angels reboot and even the tomb raider reboot as an example) and its just so boring it makes the character feel insecure in who they are and they just come across as a try hard
sorry iv put a couple of comments i just love this series haha
I got about 20 minutes into this video before it convinced me I have to rewatch burn notice.
Make sure you tell everyone you know to watch it if they haven't. It's a show everyone has to see at least once.
3:19 I mean, not to be nitpicking, but Same Axe is a retire Navy Seal; he was never a spy. A joke they make numerous times 😂
You should watch because it's a great show!
How do you think it got so many seasons? I was watching.
If I had to declare a tv show as a favourite, Burn Notice would be my choice. I have probably watched the entire series at least 30 times.
Last night, for the 2nd time in 20 years we just finished watching what I believe is the very best Spy TV series of all time: BURN NOTICE. It ran 7 seasons and had amazing story/writing, and especially great cast. If you are looking for a great action packed show...
Back then, we watched it because it was was on TV at a good time
What is your favorite show if this is second place ?
Battlestar Galactica (2004). That was my first video.
This is the best action-sitcom of all-time, hands down. Name a better hour long series that's better?
Love this show.
The last season not as much but overall it was brilliant.
Michael Weston is the GOAT of TV. Jack Bauer could learn a thing or two.
“Weleased in dis pewiod” 😂 “witewally the wast pwace in the entire world” 😂😂
more people really should watch this
This is the only person on RUclips I can find reacting to Burn Notice. Make his reaction blow up, maybe more people will react to it. ruclips.net/p/PLhZI5ql-TxcmDayyevH01T-BCdScsVbZI&si=UpD1E1WP8Skvni7d

I love Burn Notice ❤
Like the show alot though
Not a single mention of Jesse? Scuse me sir?
Damn shame. I think he was a great addition.
Why didn't you discuss Jesse?
Man is a fantastic character!
Anybody else think Rockstar could’ve madea GOAT-Tier game outta this show or is it just me?
If the Bond movies were this good...
I'm surprised the character's cover identities even if it's minor like pretending to be an IT guy to access a building, rarely use fake mustaches, wigs, changing their hair color or body features.

I loved the show but i didn't care for Madeline. I cant put my finger on it, but something about her just rubbed me wrong
Don't like the spooky background sound for such an action-pack spy series.
I think Burn Notice is superior to the Bond movies and even maybe to MI movies. Thanks
Most shows end badly because they are cancelled to early such as firefly, Star Trek Discovery, strike back, and dark crystal the series and far scape.
"Saul Goodman from Breaking Bad"
Vince Gilligan did not create the masterpiece that is Better Call Saul for you to disrespect him and Bob Odenkirk like thai
This*
Schmitt was absolutely the worst part about thr show. Im glad im not the only one who cant stand him or the actor.
GET RID OF THE MUSIC
The only thing that bothers me about burn notice is how awkward it sounds whenever they talk about guns lol
Fiona was all bullshit those last few seasons
My favorite show, too. 🫡
