Can we also appreciate that there are literally NO FILLER EPISODES. Every episode has the main plot and the side story progressing at the same rate. I've never seen any tv show do this approach. Usually most networks do a bunch of filler episodes then progress the main story a few episodes at a time usually as a big event episode.

That was one of the things that drew me to the series. Not because I too have an affection for yogurt, I don't eat it very much, but because they were so consistent with it. Right from the first episode where he grabs a yogurt out of the fridge of the house he broke into, to how he had yogurt in his home all the time. In some ways, yogurt was like a tell for Michael. He always knew where to get it.

I noticed when it comes to burn notice s1 thru 4 were more episodic with many sidemissons clients of the week and only maybe 10 mins of the 40 some min episode was about the main story arch of the season where the rest was about the client sidemisson of the week making it very easy to watch almost any random episode those seasons. I will say that the season premiere and season finale were mostly the main story arch of the season though. But all the other episodes in between were not so much. As far as s5 that is when the show became more story arch vs episodic clients of the week. There were still a good amount of sidemissons having nothing to do with the main story arch but it now was like 50/50 vs 90/10. Than with s6 and s7 it became no more episodic at all. In s6 and s7 Every sidemisson client had to do with the main story arch and there was way less sidemissons clients of the week compared to s1 and s5 which all mostly had nothing to do with the main story arch at all.

It's certainly got the mid-2000's vibe going with how it is filmed, how it looks, how it's edited, etc. But it's one of those shows that once you get to watching it, you really can't stop.
My all-time favorite episode is the one where they pretend to be a hit squad for hire. They ham up all of this stuff and stage a whole fake shootout to terrify a mobster into skipping town. They gaslight him into thinking he's crazy. One of the funniest episodes for me, the whole fake shootout is so over-the-top, I love it!

Personally I always thought of Burn Notice as a modern day Magnum PI (my favorite 80's show) when it was on. Similar premise, small crew of badass operators in a beach paradise taking private investigator and troubleshooter gigs, with a signature awesome car (the black Charger instead of the ferarri) and a second signature awesome car (Fiona's super nimble blue Hyandai Genesis) instead of the helicopter. Except in Burn Notice the badasses are far more badass and the fighting action is second to none, and of course you don't just have the main character narrating his thoughts to the audience but he also provides some basic theory/"spy-101" information to explain why he does some of the things he does. Sometimes I wanted to get a pencil and pad of paper and write that stuff down.

Re the filler question: allowing that most eps were not focused on the main plot, but did feature main plot advancement (more or less), and so couldn't strictly be skipped, thus weren't filler -- even by the width of that allowance, there was at least one episode with exactly NO main plot: season 1's ep 2 or 3. Strictly speaking, I think it was ep 3, but I seem to recall it being originally broadcast as ep 2, because it literally did not matter where it was dropped into the plot (as long as it was early). There were related pros and cons either way: putting it second broke the immediacy of developing the reveal at the end of ep 1, which then gets picked up in ep 3; but putting it in ep 3 breaks the coherent flow of main plot development out through the end of the season.

Excellent suggestion, and hopefully Nater Tot might give consideration to move Leverage up his to-do list. I LOVE Leverage, more so than Burn Notice even. Leverage was intended to be -- and managed to be -- Mission Impossible with a sense of humor and far better character development. It was a genuine injustice (and act of idiocy) when the network killed it after the 5th season even though the show runners had (they said) a good two years of additional top-notch scripts in hand. Leverage, of course, has far, far, far less bloody gore or violence, but it has every bit as much heart ... and marvelously complex, satisfying storylines.

Oh, and forgot to say: (1) I particularly loved Leverage just because they filmed it in Portland, OR, where I lived (one episode was filmed blocks from my home). (2) The bad guy in the bank robbery episode that Nater Tot recommends was a regular semi-bad guy on Leverage ... always fun to see where actors end up; (3) and, finally -- interestingly -- Leverage ALSO had an episode where the crew finds themselves in the middle of a bank robbery. It's a far different set-up, and the resolution of it is also far different, but it too is one fantastic episode.

It wasn't like he had some sort of Batman-like rule of "I'll do everything except kill." He _would_ kill. He had before and he would again. He just really tried hard not to, and 99% of the time, he didn't have to. So, on those half a dozen occasions (or so) over the course of the series when he _did_ kill the bad guy, it felt appropriately significant. I always get so sad when I get to the final season not only because I know the darker storyline and the events I’m about to watch unfold, but also because I know once I finish it there’s no more episodes left 😕 It makes me want to start it right back over again. It is *that* good. It is completely underrated, but I’m glad it had a big enough fanbase and viewers that allowed it to be on air for seven seasons. I’m so glad you chose Bad Breaks as the one episode you would suggest. It’s my absolute favorite episode. When you were talking about the rare times we see Michael truly angry and lose his usually calm demeanor when it comes to protecting his loved ones, the one scene that always comes to mind is in the episode Under The Gun (Season 6, Episode 4). It’s the scene that includes “Knock on the door, let him see you, and step to the side.” One of the best scenes ever. You can see the pure anger and rage in his eyes and he made sure to teach Ayn’s ex a lesson.

The last golden age for television... If you have Amazon Prime and haven't watched the show Wiseguy (1987) I would recommend it as much as I would Burn Notice.

I will add another thing to cause fights; USA Network from 2006-2014 was the best television network. It had Monk going for a few seasons then Psych, Burn Notice, White Collar, Suits, along with other, not to that level but still good shows, In Plain Sight, Royal Pains, Covert Affairs & Sirens (which they didn't even try to promote, imagine if they actually focused on advertising for that show rather than Modern Family reruns they were playing?)

Majority of these shows you named will also be on Lost and Found, here soon ;)

@@NaterTot I know you did Psych (the first video of yours I saw) so I'm looking forward to you covering a lot of these shows. Oh, another great part about USA, when they promoted their shows they did it better than everyone else. The crossover commercials are classics. It sucks once Burn Notice ended they pretty much tossed aside Psych and White Collar (although Psychos got an additional two episodes, which btw, were they the first fan base of a non-scifi show to be named, I mean outside Trekies I can't think of too many before them, I could be mistaken, not something I looked into) and they abandoned all their shows other than Suits, why Sirens never had a chance to take off (I think that show could've had a good run if given a real shot)

It's unfortunate. I have hope for a Burn Notice film in the future. Bruce Campbell and Jeffrey Donovan have mentioned several times about the possibility happening. So, look forward to that possibly happening. I know for certain White Collar, Monk, Suits and Sirens will all be on here. Sirens was well written, funny and a pleasant little surprise. I don't think USA did enough to really support it. I did enjoy Mr. Robot the first season I watched it. Unfortunately, it didn't entirely keep my attention going forward. I'm not really sure why USA went away from the good guy shows they were doing so well making. I thought it made them 'unique'. It's a shame really.

@@NaterTot Well you just listed off my top shows from USA so there's 4 videos I'm looking forward to. I'll admit though I never actually saw Mr. Robot (but heard good things) and it's just as I said, they for some reason switched their strategy after Burn Notice and abandoned all of their original programming (other than Suits) and focused on promoting their syndication of Modern Family. So, you weren't a Royal Pains fan?

I watched a few episodes. I think being around hospital environments kinda turned me off to medical dramas. I did enjoy what I saw. It doesn't help that my log of show watching is HUGE. When I started this channel, I made basically a HUGE log of shows to review/provide perspective on. I tried to weed out the shows that were 'popular' or 'incredibly successful'. I think this series, at least in my mind, will run for a long time. I just hope I continue to grow and people continue to enjoy the content that I provide. Like I said before, check in every Friday (at least for now) for reviews.

Great job of explaining the show you summed it up pretty good!
    Storyline is so great.
My name is Michael Westen & I used to be a spy.
Matt Nix & the writers is awesome to bring this show alive.
I'm really glad I got into the show around season 1. The show has became my favorite number one show ever since.
I don't really get hooked into TV shows that often. I don't have a big list of favorite shows. I was always watching every Thursday until It ended. I even bought the series DVD after each season ended & including The Fall of Sam Axe.
Burn Notice wasn't where it started good then started going downhill where you lose interest.
It was where it started good & started getting even better. It does suck when a great show ends but sometimes it's a good thing because it ended perfectly & I'm glad they did it at a good time & didn't carry it on where they would've ruin a masterpiece.
There's a lot of shows that start pretty good & starts to go downhill. They mess around with the characters. It's super annoying that you start to lose interest cause the show just looks pretty dumb now.
Obviously back then is a lot of good shows but currently now. There's a lot of weird shows coming out these days that looks stupid too. Lol
I haven't watched Burn Notice since it ended & I actually start recently watched the series after so long. So I kind of forgot a little bit it felt like I was watching new episodes again.
I still had the holy shit vibes. Lol
    It was really brilliant.
    The casting was so great.
( I love the fact that some of the guest stars come back into the series. They picked such the right people for these roles.)
    Has
    Action
    Drama
    Alittle Romance
    Comedy
    Thrills
    Sad
    Twist
    Family
    Tactical
    Seriousness
    Spycraft
    Learning lol
    Hot women in bikinis
    Badass stunts
    Double 7 vibes
    And a lot of shit!
    It has so much
    Highly recommend watching.
My uncle love the show 24
And I seen every episode too.
Don't get me wrong it's good there was some stuff in the show was just like come on really..?? Lol
My uncle has seen a few episodes of Burn Notice.
I literally told him nope Burn Notice is better than 24.

There will never be another show that can ever come close to this show. The ensemble cast together or individuals were multiple layers that just work so well. I wish they could bring it back showing what & where each character has done after burn. WHAT they can't go to work in a 9-5 regular job. These characters will never got in to "a normal working class stiff bringing home the paycheck while Fiona does strick me as the stay at home mom taking care of Michael's nephew Charlie. Now with going on in the world today, we could use a little. Michael and the gang!

I always loved the narrating part about how to turn everyday objects into spy gadgets...and also how much C4 it takes to blow something up lol
