  • Addison Airport (ADS) is a single runway, multi-use airport located just 10 mile northeast of Dallas Fort Worth International, and 6 miles north of Dallas Love Field. It provides a convenient alternative for corporate and business aviation looking for access to the busy Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. It is also home to numerous flight schools, and on any given day, the airport provides services to aircraft ranging from Cessna 150’s to corporate jets on their single runway. This diverse mix of pilot experience and aircraft capabilities, along with the airport geometry, make Addison interesting and challenging for both pilots and controllers alike. Addison has Class Delta airspace that directly underlays the Dallas-Fort Worth Class Bravo. Pilots traveling to this airport for the first time need to make themselves intimately familiar with the airspace, and requirements involved. This video prepares pilots for other challenges and hot spots at ADS.
FAA's From the Flight Deck video series uses cockpit mounted cameras to capture runway and taxiway footage and combines them with diagrams and visual graphics to clearly identify hot spots and other safety-sensitive items. Learn more at www.faa.gov/go/FromTheFlightDeck
Visit www.faa.gov/ads for supplemental "pilot handbook" information on this airport including airport-specific cautions, information local controllers want pilots to know, airport communications, airspace details and other preflight planning resources.
This video is informational only and does not replace the pilot’s responsibility to conduct required pre-flight planning in accordance with FAR 91.103.

Got my ticket at Addison. Never been there since. Been to over 50 airports in the area, but none of them is as particularly unattractive a place to visit. No free parking. Expensive fuel. Complex approach with runway obscured by buildings. Long waits to take off. No pattern nor approach practice allowed. Literally no reason to go there.
