- Need to learn how to change your front and rear brake pads on your 2011-2021 Dodge Durango? Well, then this video is for you. If I can do it...you can do it!
-This video is certainly on the longer side; feel free to skip around. I'd rather the viewer have more than enough tips/tricks to tackle this job. If the cost is to make you suffer through more of my talking, then so be it.

I haven't done brakes since about 1979 when I was 16, on my '66 GTO (with a transplanted & built 428 that hurt a LOT of feelings)! But what hurts MY feelings is the fact that I sold it for, brace yourself, $1,200! (HUNDRED!) Flawless white interior, with air! She'd literally jump the front wheels over a Pepsi bottle, with 3 passengers & a full tank of leaded pump gas! I still have dreams about finding it sitting in an old garage. Anyhoo, you, Sir, stated in a comment that you weren't a mechanic. You need to give yourself WAY more credit. I would not hesitate to pay you well to do ANY wrenching on anything I own, and any automotive instructor would be honored, privileged & fortunate to have you step in & train students in the PROPER way things should be done. Absolutely stupendous presentation from start to finish. Excellent tool prep, camera angles, lighting, descriptions, explanations & clear, to the point flow. I just can't imagine ANYONE doing it better than you did here, Brother. Total respect & thanks for so selflessly taking the time. Amazing video I have a 2018 dodge Durango gt ..love the lay out of all the information..got startled a bit when I thought I was gonna torque the rear breaks to 89..then noticed it’s for the disk..other than that it’s the best video I found..thank you for all the help..blessing my friend on a job well done.😊

Use pliers to bend the tabs???? Why Not use the tool you used to collapse the caliper to seat the pad? Or the "C" clamp? All in All a Very Informational video. Good Job.

How you make a video how to jack up a Durango on all points? I would like to rotate my tires
I have been searching hard trying to find a legit jack point. The manual only says jack from the notches, but then I can put my jack stands there. Have you had any issues with the jack point you used?
As in this case, when you have a car without a full frame body to jack anywhere it can be frustrating. What I did was I jacked the car from the points it showed in the manual (like a small flat area) 00:02:38 in the video. Then I used jack stands (IN ADDITION to the floor jack) in a sort of cut-out section along the "pinch welds." The jack stand was basically right next to the floor jack, so it took some playing around with in terms of position to securely hold the car up.

Is the inner pad supposed to wear less than the outers because I noticed it did it on all 4 of my wheels
Take what I'm going to say with a grain of salt, as I am not a mechanic. I would think they should wear at the same rate since the pressure in the braking system is equal throughout the system, and thus, each side of the caliper should clamp down on the rotors with equal pressure. However, it is intriguing that you note that problem on all four wheels. I would suggest it could be a caliper problem in that the pistons pushing directly on the brake pads are causing more wear (due to direct pressure of the pads from the pistons) than the opposite sides due to indirect pressure of the pistons (i.e., the outer pads are being pushed against the rotors by the bracket itself due to the opposite side's pistons). In other words, that could be normal considering the design of the pistons on the Durango and that this is not occurring on a sole wheel (as my 4runner has pistons on both sides and so I have even wear).

How often or when do you turn the rotors?
(FYI not a mechanic) Anytime you change the brake pads there's a decent possibility the rotors should be replaced or resurfaced. (Depending on the cost, it may be better to get new ones if you do it yourself). Also, if your wheel starts to vibrate when you brake, it's possible the rotor surface is uneven and needs to be replaced/resurfaced. Also, if the rotor surface is not smooth (and you can feel indentations), probably best to resurface/replace them.
Does the lubricants u used in this video can be for all my brake jobs for different cars?
If it's used for similar reasons like I did in the video, 100%. Like brake pad backings/caliper piston, slider pins, etc then for sure!

Are the pads front and rear the same?
Nope. They're different. The fronts are usually bigger (which is normal) because the front is responsible for 75% of the vehicle's stopping ability.
Do you grease the slider pins?
If you remove the slider pins (which is good practice to remove them and clean them), then absolutely grease them!

So you do or don’t have to loosen the bleeder valve?
It depends on what you want to do.
If you do NOT want to change the caliper or replace brake fluid, you do NOT have to open the bleeder. But if you're going that route, I would recommend opening the cap to the fluid reservoir (in the engine bay) while you compress the piston. Then you can close the cap fully.

@@donak2773 You don't have to open the bleeder or the reservoir in the engine bay. You just don't. It just makes it easier doing one or the other. But if you don't plan on taking the brake line off the caliper or performing a brake bleed, don't open that bleeder. By opening it, you will introduce air into the system...a no good thing

It's 110 ft lb on the lug nuts.
Yes and no. For 2011-2013 durangos, yes 110 ft lb. For 2014-2019 (anything newer I'm not sure) it is 130 ft lb
@@ELITEkickBOXERI have a 15 RT and it states in the owner's manual that they should be torqued to 110 and 130 on the spare.
